I can't believe we are working with (a version of) the Antagonist

Summary:

The Administrator has somehow brought a different world version of Na Yubin into this world and has decided, against Sooyeon's advice, to bring her to Coffin company, now everyone is trying to see if they can take advantage of the situation, Hilde is about to lose her mind, Shiyoung thinks this is hilarious, the new Yubin (they really need a better way to refer to her but she refuses to change her name) is really curious of where this new world differs, everyone is trying to learn Yubin's ( this world's) plan through the new arrival, and Sooyeon is really conflicted on working with Yubin again, and this is just inside the company, let's see how things go.

Hello! This is my first fanfic in any site, I have really been looking for fanfics from this fandom, unfortunately there isn't many, so I decided to make some, the idea for this one actually has been in my head for a while, I have a few more ideas still but i will focus on this one for now, I would like it if you left comments be it with your impressions, feedback to improve my writing, speculation on what will happen or even tags that you think I should put in the tags section, anyway thanks for reading this, and enjoy.

Chapter 1: First encounter

Summary:

In which Yubin is introduced into the company

"I think I didn't hear you right could you repeat that?"

Sooyeon really hoped that she heard wrong, of all the confusing and frustrating decisions the Administrator has made, this one is at the least in the top 10, that says much more about him than about this decision.

"I said that I want her to join Coffin company" the man said it completely matter of fact, as if he couldn't feel her intense glare communicating how bad of an idea this was and how angry she was for him to even suggest it, let alone order it, she had a feeling that he said things in this manner to get a rise out of her sometimes.

"I expected you to have at least some common sense left in that scheming head of yours, but that hope just died, do you even understand what you are saying?" Sooyeon had trouble articulating just how bad of an idea this was, it was as if someone told you that they brought an umbrella inside a building because they thought a clown might be there, there was just so much logic missing that you did not even know where to begin.

"Come on it isn't that out there, you are just exaggerating, besides you could always use more Counters and she will be your subordinate, you are just not seeing the positive in this arrangement" he really must be trying to get a rise out of her, there was no other explanation, he had to understand it wasn't that simple.

"Do you even think of the terrible reaction master will have to seeing her, even leaving alone everyone else in the company, or the danger that she will go rogue or get into a fight with someone" and that was just what she came up with on the spot, he was smart, he had to understand this, and he could not hide his stupid smirk in person as easily as he did behind the G.A.P. 

"I am still standing right here, you know?" The source of all these problems spoke up and Sooyeon had to try really hard to not tear into her immediately.

She paused her righteous tirade against the Administrator and looked towards the girl, she was looking towards her, with that hard to read smile, she could be bemused or amused, it was frankly hard to tell.

"Shut up for a bit Yubin" calling her by that name still felt weird, and Sooyeon didn't think she would get used to it anytime soon.

When she had been asked to come see the Administrator she honestly didn't know what to expect, knowing him it could be anything, from a new secret order to a simple chat, she really had not expected to find another woman here too, let alone a complete stranger, she really hoped that there was a good explanation for this.

There was an explanation but she is starting to wish she didn't learn it, how was she supposed to assume that this girl with blue eyes and long brown hair was an alternative world version of Na Yubin? Knowing that it could happen and being prepared for it were two completely different things.

When the Administrator told her that this girl was an alternate version of the man who had rejected her request to join him on account of master being left alone if she did, only to reappear years later (don't think about that, it still gives feelings way too complicated to think about now, or ever) she didn't know how to respond and she was not given enough time to process this information before being told to let her join Coffin company, they hadn't even had a proper conversation yet.

Thankfully it was enough of a bad idea that even in her current overwhelmed state she could tell it was one.

"Now that is a pretty rude way to talk to our guest" the Administrator really should know better than this, even meeting with anyone could have great repercussions, let alone this girl, and his comments continued to make her think this whole situation was a joke to him.

"This is a really important conversation, I have to knock some sense into you and I don't need interruptions!"

"You could at least stand to be a bit more polite about it" he was so calm it was infuriating.

"And you could stand to explain your thought process if it is so important, what am I supposed to say in the introduction? There is no way this will go well, how did you even get her here?"

"It isn't unprecedented, don't we currently have at least two people from another world in the company?"

Shiyoung and Karin had a really tough time really adjusting to the company and this world in general, and even now it is easy to see that they sometimes feel like they are out of place even if thankfully they are past the worst of it, this man had to know that.

And even if that was left aside, this is still a version of Yubin, who has not left the best impression in most of the employees.

"Alright, what is your plan here, you have one don't you, so what is it"

"Do I really seem like the kind of man who would make this all part of Some sort of scheme?"

"You definitely are, so tell me already, I have been patient enough"

"There really isn't any, just call it a hunch that things will go well if I do this"

That was definitely a lie, this isn't the sort of thing that one leaves to a hunch or a felling, and he of all people even less so.

She probably wasn't going to get any answers at this rate so she will have to change tactics and address the other person in the room.

"Hey Yubin, you must think he has a plan too don't you." Ignoring the weird feeling that came from calling the girl by that name Sooyeon turned towards her, she seemed to be scanning the room with a curious look in her eyes.

"He definitely has one, the Administrator is that type of Amazing person after all" the girl seemed a bit amused at being asked something so shortly after being told to shut up, but involving her in the conversation was at least a little more likely to get the vice president somewhere than continuing as she was, even if it was not by much.

"See! Even she thinks that, so spit your plan out already"

"Look there isn't one and it will be quite easier to explain to our employees, we already had a similar situation, and I have a feeling that it will work out "

She could feel that there was not getting out of this, so it was probably best to ask questions and get the most information out of this as she could.

"Even her name is a problem, it will be so confusing calling her Yubin, you understand that don't you?"

"We could have her go by a nickname or something, how about ... Er.. Yurin or something like that"

"That would be a bit..." The subject of conversation spoke up once more.

"What, you don't like it?" He seemed honestly shocked, as if he was surprised that a name he thought of in five seconds wasn't well received.

"It isn't that, I'm just used to being called Yubin and all."

"You will get used to it in time if you let us use it I'm sure"

The girl still seemed reluctant, and Sooyeon thought that maybe if she asked now it would take her off guard.

"So do you know what Yubin's plan is or something that you could tell us?" It was a long shot but Sooyeon felt like she would regret it if she didn't ask.

"Err- my counterpart from this world? I'm not sure, I mean we are already at least somewhat different from what I've been able to gather, I don't know if we might differ in it." The girl seemed to not have adjusted to there being another person with her name being spoken about yet (not that Sooyeon had either) but she still answered with what Sooyeon knew was a deflect, but could also be correct.

"Look, Sooyeon even if she was planning something you'd have her close to keep an eye on her"

"Ah, don't worry I'm not planning on lying to you and causing headaches for both of us later down the line" because saying that sure was trustworthy.

"There is no way I'm getting out of this, is there?" Sooyeon could already imagine how bothersome this would be.

"Nope, there isn't, I expect her to be introduced to the company by next week."

"Wait a second where will she stay?" That seemed important.

"She will stay in the company dorms once she officially starts working for us, but don't worry I rented her a dormitory in the meantime, I'm not going to ask you to room together with her or anything, unless you want to."

"No! There is no way we are sleeping in the same room!" She does not have a spare bed or anything ready for that, although she probably should get one just in case this madman did something similar but wasn't feeling so merciful later.

"Haha.." she really hoped that what came out of Yubin's mouth was nervous laughter and she was not laughing at her misfortune.

"Anyway that will be all for this meeting, unless you want to stay and drink something together with us"

"No, thank you for the invitation but I will refrain this time, I will try to familiarize with this place a bit" the blue eyed girl seemed to not be intent on staying today.

"No, I will... Just go plan how I'm going to do this bit." Sooyeon really didn't want to be here right now.

Well at least she had until the end of the week to come up with something, she could do it, probably.

This was going to be such a pain.

"And so I expect Yubin to be working alongside us from now on"

Mina really didn't know how to react to this, but thankfully she didn't seem to be alone in this.

Alt squad was out on a mission so she imagined that the vice president would have to introduce the new addition again later, Shiyoon seemed like he would rather be working than here, Hilde looked like she was going to have an aneurysm, Mina herself felt incredibly confused for a multitude of reasons, Karin seemed like the most subdued, likely too focused processing that they had another visitor from another world to realize the reaction of everyone else, and Shiyoung seemed to be amused looking at everyone else's reaction.

"Wow, I feel like I am being treated like a villain, but oh well, nice to meet you all"

They were going to need a lot more explanation.

Chapter 2: Some explaining left to do

some introductions are had, and some concerns are raised

hello, and i'm sorry for not updating sooner, i did not imagine that writers block was quite that bad even accounting for my schedule being somewhat inconvenient this year, but well, at least I managed to finally write it, even if it took a whole year, I can't promise that I will be able to push chapters consistently from now on, but I will try my best, it should at least be somewhat quicker than this one, I'm really sorry for keeping you waiting, hopefully my writing speeds up now.

"are you out of your mind?!"

It seems that Hilde had finally processed the information enough to say something, it had been strange that she hadn't said anything yet.

"If you want to blame someone blame our CEO, I didn't think it was a good idea either"

"But you still let this go through!"

"I did protest immensely"

"Clearly not enough!"

Mina didn't particularly disagree with the commander, although at least they were honest about this, she still remembers how hard it was to get a real answer about Shiyoung and Karin (they were alternate versions of Shiyoon and Kyle that came here through a portal opened from a failed Delta Seven experiment, apparently) and even then she thinks it isn't the whole story.

Regardless she didn't particularly like the idea of working with someone so similar to the guy who kidnapped Narae (with her consent apparently, which was still a ludicrous concept) but at least she wasn't the only one, the commander was making her displeasure known, rather loudly, in fact so much so that Mina tuned it out a little, and she highly doubted that Shiyoon would not have problems with it.

meanwhile Karin looked like she had trouble following along and Shiyoung seemed like she was coming up with some sinister plot, but that was honestly pretty standard out of them in Mina's opinion, regardless it seems like Hilde was calming down a bit so it was probably a good idea to focus on the ongoing conversation now.

"Still, why introduce her now Sooyeon? Only half the squads are here" that was quite a good question actually.

"Wait a second, this isn't everyone?" She seemed surprised about that at least, didn't they give her an orientation?

"I decided to introduce her separately to better deal with the questioning from you guys, I definitely did not procrastinate until the last moment without considering that some of our squads would be out on missions, so you better get any ideas like that out of your head master, understood?" 

"Eh?! Er-yes, understood" despite the vice-president clearly describing what actually happened it seems that her murderous aura scared the commander away from the topic, it's not like Mina could blame her seeing as she's getting a little scared too, and she isn't even the target.

"Hold on Sooyeon, if this isn't everyone then who's missing?"

"The Alt squad and Eddie squad are out on a mission, they're the only squads missing right now, everyone else you should have no problem introducing yourself individually to, and I saw that Chloe was trying to sell you some charm earlier"

While the new employee and Sooyeon were having that little chat it seems that commander Hilde was managing to gather herself enough to continue with the questioning "where did you even find her anyway? I don't think she would suddenly appear for an interview just like that."

"That's a very good question which I wish I had the answer for master, unfortunately I don't actually know"

At this Hilde appeared ready to say something when suddenly the door flew open, hitting Shiyoon on it's way (wait a second, he had been very quiet for a while, was he trying to diminish his presence to sneak off? That bastard was seriously about to leave her alone in this situation?) To which he got knocked away due to the force with an exclamation of pain "gah!", And after what they probably thought was a dramatic pause the synthetic voice of the Boss resounded "allow me to illustrate!"

"Oh, I see how this is"

The commander's expression of exasperation did not deter machine G.A.P. however "you see, our fair maiden here was wandering lost through the city, struggling to find employment despite possessing excellent qualifications after being suddenly and without prior warning transfered to our world, she had eventually resolved to-"

"Get on with it you piece of junk!"

"I was until you interrupted me! As I was saying it seemed she had no choice but to sleep on a random alley, having been thrown here without any currency on hand and little idea of her surroundings, when a kind hand in the form of a magnanimous hero appeared! Having noticed her predicament a most kind stranger-"

"Stop with the mistery, it's you."

"-Decided to have a chat with our distressed girl, during this chat the amazing fellow who happened to have some knowledge of alternate worlds realized the situation this woman found herself in, they also realized the qualifications that she possessed in multiple fields and who she was an equivalent of, during this chat it came up that this stranger happened to be the CEO of the great TASKFORCE coffin company, with few options remaining the girl begged this newfound acquaintance for the possibility of joining the company on any job they could possibly spare in order to avoid unemployment, but the generosity of the CEO would not have allowed them to abandon her even had she not begged, and so here we stand today"

After the Boss finished that monologue Hilde immediately turned to the new hire and said "no way that's true, right?"

At this Yubin actually looked a little embarrassed? "Er- it actually is a surprisingly accurate way of describing it, although with some embellishments, he offered me the job first, but I will admit that I would have been in trouble if he hadn't" 

"By the way Sooyeon, we had agreed to introduce her as Yurin to avoid confusion didn't we? So why have we been referring to her as Yubin?"

The vice president actually looked somewhat flustered with that comment " hahaha... I haven't really had much time to internalize it, and well, she didn't remind me at any point during the introduction"

"I would say that internalizing that your own name is different is harder than what you had to do, but point taken."

Karin was now starting to look towards Mina for help, clearly having decided that trying to get information from by listening in on the argument wasn't going to work, and while Mina had trouble following along too she was sure she understood more than Karin, and she wasn't about to leave her alone" we've fought with her counterpart from this world before, so it's a little awkward. " 

Karin seemed thankful for the helping hand, nodding in appreciation when Hilde suddenly turned to her, apparently having decided to rope her into her side of the argument" there's no way anyone would be alright with her joining, right!?"

"Eh?- I-i mean, I don't really have much of a frame of reference, so I would need to actually spend some time getting to know about this issue to really know, but right now I don't really have much of a problem than with it?" Karin was somewhat hesitant when saying that seeing as it was quite clearly not what Hilde wanted to hear, but she still said it, maybe out of sympathy towards a fellow otherworldly person.

The commander seemed to lose some wind upon not being backed by Karin to which Sooyeon spoke once more" so, now that we've discussed that, are there any more questions?" Clearly Sooyeon was hoping that there would be none even though she clearly expected there to be some, and Hilde immediately exclaimed.

"Now, tell me Yubin -" "Yurin" "-not now boss! As I was saying, tell me all the plans that Yubin has!" 

"That's not going to work master, I already tried it"

"Damnit!"

"Any actual questions?"

At this Mina raised her hand, and Sooyeon gave her the go ahead to speak, clearly Yurin joining was already decided so some actual questions would probably do good, speaking of which" you have said that she will be joining us, but you haven't actually said what her role will be, so what is it?"

Sooyeon seemed to be a bit taken aback by the realization that she indeed hadn't explained much of how she would join them, merely busy trying to explain that she would, and needed a second to come up with an answer, meanwhile Yurin was watching with what Mina thought was amusement towards- was Shiyoung scribbling on Shiyoon's face, was he unconscious or merely pretending- wait no, there's no way Shiyoon would keep up the act of pretending to be unconscious while Shiyoung scribbled on his face, he was definitely unconscious, but how?

At this point Sooyeon came up with the answer that Mina was supposed to be waiting for " of course we can't just put her in any of the already existing squads since that would mess with their established dynamic, so on battle situations she will be on standby in case a squad needs assistance, she won't be put up to that until after some training on the simulators of how everyone should act in those situations, she will also help with some paperwork, of course we will have to double check it because we can't just immediately let her near something so vital without supervision, she will be staying at the company dorms until she can find a place to stay at, other than that we can probably have her as an errand runner until she integrates into the company "

"Er, Sooyeon do you really have to refer to my role right now as an 'errand runner'" 

"No I don't have to, your point being? Anyway that clear things up Mina?"

"For now, yes"

"Excellent, so any other questions?" There was a clear aura about her the said that she really didn't want more questions, so the commander despite initially opening her mouth to say something seemed to think better of it.

"None? Great, then get out of here everyone, I have to think on how to do this introduction for the Alt squad and Eddie squad and it's almost lunch break, give our new member a warm welcome."

Unfortunately for Mina, the task of carrying the unconscious Shiyoon out of the room and to medical would fall on her, he was going to owe her for this.
