Work Text:

Looking around his little apartment above the shop, Keishin Ukai was searching for anything he'd missed. This was the first time his boyfriend was coming to his place.

His boyfriend.

Ukai still was not used to saying that. He hadn't been looking for a relationship, he was running the store and what little downtime he had, Ukai would spend playing volleyball with his friends. Now here he was getting ready for a Christmas Eve dinner with his boyfriend.

Then into Ukai’s store walked this nerdy man with the most gentle eyes. He'd kept dismissing him until he'd waved a red flag in front of his eyes. Red cat shaped flag.

Here they were a year and half from when they met. They'd been dating for three months. If it wasn't for the team Ukai may have never acted on it. Thinking about it brought a smile to his face.

The sudden knocking on his door made Ukai jump. Walking over he opened it, coming face to face with Takeda Ittetsu. Looking him up and down, Ukai couldn't keep the grin off his face. It was always a treat to see his boyfriend in a pair of skinny jeans, the oversized knit sweater he wore ending mid thigh.

“Takeda, come in.” Stepping aside so that Takeda could enter. “Hello.”

“Hello Ukai. It's so weird calling you by your name.” Takeda responded, a blush spreading across his face.

Ukai chuckled, “We talked about it, I'm not Coach when we aren't with the boys. Plus I'm enjoying you blushing every time you say my name.” He bumped shoulders with Takeda.

“Stop teasing.” Takeda said, trying to glare at Ukai. “You're horrible. Stop teasing me.”

Ukai decided it was best to stop for now. “Let's eat before the food gets cold.”

They ate their food. Discussing their plans to visit the shrine on New Year's morning. When dinner was done the two agreed they weren't ready for the night to end. Two sat on the couch, cuddling close, Ukai put his arm around Takeda pulling him close.

“Ukai…”

Hearing his name, Ukai turned to look at his boyfriend. Tilting his head slightly, he asked “What's up?”

“Can I kiss you?” Takeda whispered

Ukai couldn't help himself, “What was that? I didn't hear you.”

The response he got wasn't what he'd expected.

Takeda placed a hand on the back of his neck pulling him close.

“I said stop teasing me.”

His voice was firm. It stirred something in Ukai before he could react, Takeda's lips were pressed against his.

Their first kiss. The first of many if Ukai had anything to say about it.
