Plan B

Summary:

After one of Westalis' agents goes missing on a mission, WISE immediately suspects that the Ostanian secret police may have captured them and put the entirety of Operation Strix in danger. Being their best spy, Loid is called in and given one evening to try and lure out as much information as he can from the only secret police officer that WISE currently knows the identity of: Yuri Briar.

But when Loid's initial plan of playing the friendly brother-in-law doesn't go quite as he had hoped, he quickly realises that he might just have to use some... other methods.

Work Text:

”As you may already be aware of, your wife’s younger brother, Yuri Briar, is working with the Ostanian secret police.”

It was a late Friday evening in a secluded area of one of Berlint’s many public parks. Given the short notice of the meeting, Loid had just barely managed to scrape together a good excuse for why he was suddenly leaving Yor and Anya alone in the apartment, but the two of them had seemed to be understanding of him “suddenly remembering that he had forgotten something back at the office”. And thus, here he was, sitting side by side with Handler: the two of them disguised as an innocent elderly couple to avoid attracting any forms of unwanted attention or suspicious stares.

Loid nodded quietly, not quite sure why she was bringing up Yor’s younger brother or what exactly the details of this sudden mission were going to be.

He was, in fact, well aware of the fact that Yuri was working with the secret police and had been doing his best to conceal his own identity as a spy and erase any possible reasons for suspicion whenever the younger Briar sibling was present. And to his knowledge, he had been doing quite a remarkable job so far.

But why this sudden meeting?

Had Yuri somehow managed to see through him?

Had Operation Strix somehow already been compromised?

“Just a few hours ago, one of our agents suddenly went missing during a mission regarding the secret police. We haven’t heard from her since we lost contact, and our informants know nothing of where she might be either. We worry that she may have been captured by them.”

Loid turned his head in shock to face Handler and a surprised expression started spreading across his face.

Captured?

This definitely wasn’t good.

WISE’s agents were skilled and each of them underwent extensive training in handling any forms of enemy interrogation. But even so, if one of them had actually been captured, that could potentially put all of them in direct danger if the secret police managed to get any kind of intel out of them.

This could very well put the entirety of Operation Strix in danger.

A few passers-by walked past them, each holding a small dog on a leash and chatting nonchalantly with each other, blissfully unaware of the gravity of the issue currently being discussed right behind them.

“I hope you understand why we had to call you in right away to discuss this matter. This may very well compromise Operation Strix and ultimately world peace itself if it is true.”

Loid nodded as a slight sense of dread started running through him by the mere though of the entire operation being compromised. If that were really the case, everyone he knew, including himself, might be in danger.

It didn’t look good at all.

“However,” Handler continued, “- this is only speculation, and we do not know if the actual reason behind her sudden disappearance is that she has been captured. But if it is, we need to find out as soon as possible so that we can start preparing for any possible outcome to the situation.”

Another group of people walked by, this time a group of slightly intoxicated young men who seemed to be on their way to some kind of party. They were quite loud, and Loid could barely make out what each of them were saying from the sound of their own loudness.

A few seconds passed, and as soon as the young men were out of hearing range, Handler picked up from where she had let off.

“As you know, the secret police are extremely tight with their security, so we don’t have any agent among them who might know what is going on and if our suspicions are true or not. But we do have a direct connection to one of their officers through you, or rather, through your wife, Yor Briar. It is, of course, Yuri Briar that I am referring to.”

Loid’s face remained as composed as ever, but the mention of Yuri’s name in this context did make him slightly worried as he knew that he wasn’t exactly on the best terms with Yor’s younger brother.

And he could tell exactly where Handler was heading with this conversation.

“You want me to question him and find out if he knows anything about the captured agent.”

“Quick to pick up as always, Twilight.”, she said. “And the sooner the better, preferably by midnight. We might not have time on our side if one of us has really been captured by them. But if anyone can manage to pull this off, it’s you.”

Loid nodded, his mind already running through a plethora of possible scenarios and trying to piece together a plan for how he would somehow manage to get this information out of Yor’s younger brother without accidentally revealing his own identity as a Westalian spy.

If the entire mission had already been compromised, he would have no reason whatsoever to still conceal his true identity. But as these were only speculations, he would have to tread carefully and avoid setting of any alarms in the younger officer’s mind while trying to lure any information out of him. There was no reason to expose himself and compromise the entire mission even further, if it turned out that the missing agent had gone quiet for other reasons than her being captured by the secret police.

Loid sighed quietly as he folded his hands together in front of him, eyes focused and mind working actively to find a way to somehow execute this mission without making Yuri suspicious of him.

“We will have our other agents continue looking for her, of course. Hopefully this is all a misunderstanding, but we can’t afford taking any risks. I will keep you updated in case anything happens. Best of luck.”

Her voice was calm and collected as she got up from the bench they had been sitting on, and started making her way out of the park, disappearing from his sight within a few minutes.

Loid let out yet another sigh and leaned back slightly in the bench as his mind continued running through possible ways of pulling this off.

After a few seconds, he landed on a strategy that he believed might be the most effective given the time constraints of the situation.

Alright, he thought to himself.

Let’s do this.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

With the help of Franky and a few other agents, Loid managed to create a last-minute ruse to get Yor and Anya out of the apartment for the night.

The fake story went that: as he was just about to leave the hospital after retrieving whatever he had forgotten, he ran into one of his colleagues who then spontaneously offered him two tickets for a weekend getaway in a nearby town because she herself was unable to make it due to illness. An “extremely lucky coincidence” indeed. But alas, he had been informed that the tickets were only valid for this weekend, so they would have to leave right now. And, of course, he himself wouldn’t be able to make it as he had been called in to do some extra work at the hospital this weekend.

What a shame.

Anya had been giving him a shocked look during his entire recounting of the story, but her troubled expression had quickly changed from worry to excitement once he added that this impromptu “get-away” was in a castle. And that dogs were allowed there, so she could bring Bond along with them.

“A mother-daughter ooting!” she sang excitedly as they made their way down the stairs towards the car that had come to pick them up and drive them to their destination.

Yor had seemed surprised as well at first, but Loid couldn’t exactly blame her for that as the entire story seemed too ridiculous to be true. But the tickets were there (thanks to WISE’s skilled agents), and it was the best solution that they had been able to come up with in such a short amount of time.

And besides, she had seemed genuinely happy about being able to spend the entire weekend with Anya, her red eyes lighting up in joy each time Anya happily sung about this very same “mother-daughter ooting” that they were heading out on.

The three of them — mother, daughter and dog — jumped happily into the car, and Loid waved them off as they drove off into the evening, the sun having already set over the city as the sky started turning dark blue.

Alright, he thought.

Time for part two of the plan.

Loid made his way back up to the apartment and headed straight towards the phone that stood in their entrance hall.

For security reasons, he had been keeping a log of every number that had been called or was called from their home phone since the time they had moved in, and he had therefore managed to write down Yuri’s number due to his and Yor’s frequent sibling catch-ups over the phone.

Loid had no idea if Yuri would even be home by this time, or where he currently was, but he hoped for the sake of the mission (and, ultimately, world peace) that Yor’s younger brother was spending his Friday evening at home and not somewhere else, since all he had was his home number.

. . .

The phone rang for a few minutes before someone finally picked up, and Loid heard the familiar sound of Yuri Briar’s light voice on the other end of the line.

“Hello?” he asked, “Sister, is that you??”

The enthusiasm and excitement was apparent in his tone of voice, and Loid almost felt bad letting him down by revealing that it was, in fact, not his sister calling him, but most likely the person he wanted to hear from the least right before a relaxing weekend off from work.

Loid gulped, suddenly feeling the weight of this entire operation slowly close in on how well he managed to execute this phone call.

Being the best spy in the whole of Westalis’ intelligence bureau, Loid was used to handling high stakes situations pressure and being under all sorts of pressure. It wasn’t exactly foreign to him. But, somehow, this conversation seemed more tense than anything he had ever tried before, knowing that the man on the other end of the line was the brother of his pretend wife. There were all sorts of social finesses and possible future outcomes to be considered in how he handled this situation, so he had to be on his absolute best brother-in-law behaviour to pull this off appropriately.

If one of his fellow spies had really been captured, the current state of the world might very well depend on it.

“Good evening, Yuri!” he said. “This is Loid calling.”

There was a few seconds of silence on the other end of the line, and Loid could hear how the phone was almost shoved right back down the moment he said his name. Luckily, he managed to interrupt before Yuri could cut him off completely:

“I-I’m calling to hear if you are free this evening?” he said.

There were a few more seconds of silence before Yuri replied, his voice as cold as ice:

“Why would I want to spend my Friday evening hanging out with you?

Oh boy.

This was going worse than he had expected.

Loid laughed awkwardly and continued, his tone of voice slightly lighter and even more friendly-sounding than before:

“I know that we aren’t that close yet, but maybe we could get to know each other more, since we are family. For Yor’s sake,”

He heard a very un-subtle tsk! from the other end of the line, as he said “we are family”.

“- and also,” Loid continued in the most polite tone he could fake speaking in, “Yor’s birthday is coming up soon, and I was thinking that maybe we could plan a surprise event together for her, or something like that. She and Anya aren’t home this evening, so today is the perfect time to do it. I had been meaning to call you earlier this week, but I have been so busy with work and today is the only day I am free this week. But I understand if it fits you badly, given the short notice.”

That should do it. Loid thought.

Loid knew how much Yuri adored his older sister, and using her as bait to lure him over would be the most sure-fire way of getting him to visit and ultimately talk. And, as a matter of fact, Yor’s birthday was conveniently enough only about two months away, so his excuse seemed valid, although maybe a bit early in terms of planning a surprise party.

But he wouldn’t expect Yuri to even notice that. The younger man loved his sister, and from what Loid could imagine, two months of preparation for her birthday was probably nothing compared to what he had done before. Loid wouldn’t even be surprised if he had begun planning for this from the moment the day of her last birthday struck midnight.

“Hm.” Yuri said, his voice still sounding hostile and irritated.

But Loid was well trained in reading other people’s emotions, and Yuri’s thoughts shone right through the tone of his voice whenever the topic was about his sister.
He hadn’t hung up yet either, which he would probably have done if this answer was going to be a hard pass.

“F-fine… But just for Yor. I don’t care about getting to know you better.”

This was going exactly as Loid had hoped it would.

“I’ll be there shortly.”

And then he hung up.

A slight sigh of relief escaped Loid’s lips the moment he placed the phone back in its place. Yuri had said yes to come over, and another step in his carefully constructed plan had fallen into place.

Great, Loid thought. Time for the third step.

Secure the alcohol.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After half an hour of waiting for the arrival of the younger Briar-sibling, the sound of a faint knock could be heard coming from the door of the Forger residence.

Yuri had arrived.

And all of Loid’s preparations were complete as well.

The sitting room table was lined up neatly with snacks and an assortment of alcoholic beverages to make sure that there was something for whichever taste the younger Briar would be craving at the moment.

Loid had witnessed first-hand just how badly the Briars handled alcohol, and he would use this weakness to his advantage in this meeting. His plan was as follows:

1) Make Yuri feel comfortable around him by using small talk and shared interests (i.e. talk about Yor)
2) Get Yuri drunk
3) Find out whether or not an agent has been kidnapped

The plan was simple, and yet Loid would have to execute it with the utmost precision if he was to retain his secret identity and avoid any further suspicions from Yuri over the course of the evening. There was no 100% guarantee either that Yuri would even know the details if someone from WISE had been captured by the secret police a few hours ago, but given the fact that the younger man worked for them every day, Loid would think that he would at least have been informed about it if they had managed to do something as big as capturing an actual spy from Westalis.

It would probably be the biggest news of the day, given the fact that the supposed “spies” they captured were rarely even actual spies and often just innocent citizens who had just been accused of being so by spiteful acquaintances.

Yes, Loid thought.

If one of us has been captured, Yuri will most likely know about it.

And I have to find out if he does.

Loid made his way over to the door and opened it widely, greeting Yuri with a friendly smile and an extended hand which the younger man hesitantly shook.
“Hi.” He said, an annoyed expression covering his face.

“Welcome, Yuri! As always, please feel at home. I have prepared some snacks for us,” Loid said, gesturing towards the table while maintaining an open body language.

“Let’s just get this over with and plan a perfect birthday for my sister.” Yuri said, taking off his jacket and hanging it loosely on one of the hooks by the door before making his way over to the couch.

He then placed himself in the couch, arms crossed in front of him and stared blankly at the space in front of him, trying to seem as disinterred in Loid as possible.
But Loid was prepared for this.

This was where the real battle begun.

The following hour that passed was mostly filled with formalities and Loid asking questions about Yuri’s life, his week at work and any other topics that seemed personal enough to warrant a sense of familiarity between them, but not so personal that they would make the younger man uncomfortable or, at worst, suspicious.

Yuri had seemed tense at first, but the more Loid asked and seemed genuinely interested in his answers, the more he seemed to relax in his company. Loid had made sure to include small droplets of anecdotes about his daily life with Yor as well, but not any that would spark too much jealousy from her younger brother’s side.

He had made sure to, every once in a while, mention how much she adores him, which always made Yuri’s face light up and made him seem a bit less hostile towards Loid.

It was all going just according to plan, and their conversation continued flowing more and more smoothly, even despite the alcohol not having been touched by either one of them yet. After the initial minutes of hostility and awkwardness, their conversation managed to reach a flow that felt natural and even effortless from Loid’s point of view.

At some point, he even lost track of his long list of planned conversation topics and questions, as he found himself more and more intrigued and genuinely curious about Yuri’s answers to his questions. A few more hours passed, and before he knew it, the younger Briar was knee-deep in telling him about his and Yor’s childhood, the loss of their parents, and how he ended up working for the government in order to create a safer world for his older sister.

Of course, without revealing what his actual job was within the government, but the more Yuri spoke about his life, the more similarities Loid started seeing between the two of them. They had a lot more in common than Loid could ever have imagined, and by the time another hour had passed, he found himself so lost in the conversation and strangely fascinated by the younger man that he had almost forgotten about the alcohol in front of them.

“Oh,” he politely interrupted, “we must not forget about these!”

Loid poured them each a glass of wine, saving the hard liquor for later, as he wouldn’t want Yuri to get too drunk right away. It wouldn’t be good if he got to wasted to even speak properly. He needed him conscious enough to be able to speak clearly.

Yuri reached out for the wine glass and traced its sides with his other finger, as a sudden solemn and contemplative look spread across his face. He turned to face the wine glass, his gaze avoiding Loid’s face as he let out a slightly woeful sigh.

“You know…” he said, “As much as I hate admitting it, I really envy what you have.”

“Hm?” Loid asked, not quite sure what he was referring to.

Yuri took a short sip of the wine in front of him before answering,

“You look so happy. And you’re married to someone you love and want to build a life with… And you even have a child...”

He sighed quietly and once again took another tiny sip from the wine glass, his lips just barely scraping the surface of the liquid as his eyes continued peering into it, a sad expression on his face.

He seemed weirdly sorrowful all of a sudden, and Loid started sensing that this topic wasn’t too good for the mood if the goal of the evening was to get him drunk enough to spill the details of his secret work operations.

This wasn’t good. He had to somehow revert the mood back to a positive one if this plan was to succeed.

“What do you mean, Yuri?” Loid asked and lifted a hand to gently pat the younger man’s back. “You’re speaking as if it isn’t possible for you to experience that someday too! I’m sure you’ll fall in love with a beautiful woman someday and start a life together!”

His words of encouragement were, of course, to keep his plan progressing as much as possible, but he would be lying if he didn’t admit that a small part of him did feel worried seeing Yuri this depressed all of a sudden.

What was going on?

A few seconds passed before Yuri answered, a dry laugh escaping his lips:

“But I won’t.”

He continued staring down into his wine glass, his index finger circling its rim for a bit while his expression remained downbeat.

Huh?

Loid wasn’t quite sure what Yuri meant when he said that he wouldn’t find a wife someday. Loid wasn’t blind, and everyone could tell just by looking at him that the younger Briar was in fact a very handsome young man. And from Loid’s discoveries this evening, as dramatic as he could be, Yuri had quite a pleasant personality as well once you got to know him, and he seemed to generally harbour a lot of love for the world and humanity within him as well.

How would someone like him have trouble getting a girlfriend?

It didn’t make any sense in Loid’s mind. He had witnessed and been in several (albeit fake) relationships himself and could say for a fact that someone like Yuri shouldn’t have any problems in that specific department.

Could it be because of his job within the secret police?

That wouldn’t exactly make sense either though, as secret police officers weren’t prohibited in any way from marrying of starting families: quite the contrary, in fact. Their whole profession relied on them drawing as little attention to themselves as possible, and having a nuclear family of your own was usually a bulletproof way of stating to the world that you weren’t a suspicious person at all. That was literally what Loid was doing on Operation Strix.

So then why else would it be impossible for him to find a wife someday?

It wasn’t as if Yuri was financially challenged or socially inept either.

But, now that Loid thought about it, Yor had never mentioned any girlfriends or love interests of Yuri’s whenever they would speak about him. Not that Loid had ever asked any further into it, but over the course of the past four hours, Yuri himself hadn’t brought anyone up either.

Was this man really just, somehow, that unlucky with women?

Or was there another reason for his lack of faith and experience in that department?

But which other reasons could there be?

Other than, of course…

Oh.

No way.

Could it be…?

Loid’s eyes shot up by the sudden realisation, although he wasn’t set on anything yet.

Wait. These are just assumptions, he thought.

Maybe he just doesn’t like anyone in that way. I’ve met a lot of people like that. Or could it be that Yuri likes…

… Men?

Loid’s eyes once again shot up in realisation as he started piecing all sorts of bits and pieces of information together: Yuri’s immediate hostility and red-flushed face the first time he met him, his constant apprehension to spending time with him, his irritation and constant complaints about how “Yor has such a handsome husband” and many, many more puzzle pieces were finally coming together in Loid’s mind to form one coherent conclusion and theory that he now felt like an idiot for never realising in the first place.

Could it be that Yuri was never really jealous of Loid for marrying his older sister…

But that it was in fact Yor he had been jealous of all along?

Loid unconsciously brought his hand up to stroke his chin pensively and sent a quick look towards the man sitting next to him, not quite sure what to make of this new information or how to reply to Yuri.

It all makes sense now, Loid thought.

Yuri is attracted to me.

How did I not realise this before?

After a few seconds of awkward silence and heavy thinking from Loid’s side, Yuri placed the wineglass back on the table in front of them and leaned back into the couch, his eyes looking emptily into the space of the living room.

“I’m not really in the mood for alcohol anymore,” he said. “And I think I might have to leave soon.”

Shit, Loid thought.

Yuri is about to leave, and part 2) of the plan seems to be going down the drain by the minute.

I need to improvise. And quickly., Loid thought.

If Yuri was truly interested in him, that would open up a whole new set of possibilities for how he could proceed with this mission. As a spy, Loid had used seduction as a means of fulfilling his missions countless times before, so this kind of method wasn’t exactly new to him in any way. He had, however, never had to seduce a man before, and although he was usually able to maintain his cool and stay somewhat emotionally detached when seducing women during his missions, there was something about this specific scenario that made him feel weirdly self-conscious.

Loid was never nervous when had had to seduce women on his missions or act as the fake boyfriend/husband. In theory, it should’ve affected him even less when flirting with a man.

Why was he feeling somewhat timid in this specific setting?

Was it because of the fact that this was his “wife’s” younger brother?

There were indeed some ethical dilemmas to be taken into account if the “seduction method” was going to be his new way of obtaining intel from Yuri on this mission. First of all, if it failed, it could put his entire scam marriage in grave danger. Yor was, however, in on the scam, so the two of them would probably be able to find a way of cooling down the situation before Yuri would do anything too drastic if he wasn’t too keen on the idea of his brother-in-law hitting on him.

Secondly, if it didn’t fail, assuming that they wouldn’t tell Yor about it, Loid would have to maintain a fake affair during his already fake marriage.

Or could he just tell Yor about it?

But would she be alright with that?

Any form of hostility between the two of them could put his entire fake family façade in danger, which would ultimately compromise Operation Strix and-
“I think I have to leave now,” Yuri said, slowly rising up from the couch and interrupting Loid’s thought processes, effectively stopping him from thinking his next steps thoroughly through.

It seemed like he wouldn’t be given the luxury of having the time to properly do that, since Yuri was about to leave and the peaceful state of the world potentially leaving with him.

“W-wait!” Loid said, quickly grabbing Yuri’s wrist as he started getting up. Loid stood up quickly as well to face the younger man at eye level – although Loid was slightly taller than him.

Okay…, Loid thought.

Looks like this is the way I’ll have to do this.

“I-I know what you mean.” He said, calming down his voice and trying to conceal the stress that he was currently feeling.

Don’t leave, don’t leave, don’t leave, it’ll ruin my entire plan if you leave!!

“What?” Yuri asked confused, “No. I don’t think you know what I mean.”

Alright, this is your chance, Loid thought.

He tightened his grip ever so slightly around Yuri’s wrist, not too tight but just enough to Yuri to notice a soft twinge, and top a tiny step closer towards him, leaving a little under a meter between them as he said:

“No, Yuri. I think I know exactly what you mean.”

“Please don’t leave.”

Loid noticed a complete change in Yuri’s expression once those last three words had left his lips. The younger man’s face went from sad, to wary to extremely flushed in a matter of a few seconds, and Loid could feel the sudden change in pulse from his grip around the younger Briar’s wrist.

“U-u-uhm, uhm, I- uhm,” he stuttered as his eyes kept looking into Loid’s, unsure of where else to look.

There was something strangely endearing about seeing Yuri like this, and for a split second the word “cute” had made its way through Loid’s mind, although he would never dream of actually saying that out loud.

He lifted his other hand and placed it gently on Yuri’s upper arm as he leaned in even closer, leaving roughly half a meter between their faces: Yuri’s complexion growing redder and redder by each closed in centimetre between them.

“W-wait! Loid, what are you doing, my sister, I can’t… she will…” Yuri mumbled, his words ending up as a mush of started and forgotten sentences all mixed up together in one long incoherent phrase.

Loid chuckled and sent him a friendly smile.

“Don’t worry about that.”

Time was of the essence, and he genuinely couldn’t think of anything better to say at the moment. He didn’t want to say anything cliché along the lines of “don’t worry, she’ll never find out about us” as that would only make him sound sleazy, and as he still hadn’t thought the exact possible outcomes of this change of action through yet, he couldn’t say anything more than that given the circumstances.

Maybe he could even get away with just a bit of flirting, getting Yuri drunk and gathering the intel from him like that, without having to do anything… questionable.

Loid started slowly sitting himself back into the couch and gestured towards Yuri to do the same, his hand remaining around his wrist, though he changed it to rest gently on top of his hand instead. Yuri’s hand was soft, and as Loid’s palm brushed gently over it, he couldn’t help but notice how Yuri’s eyes were still darting side to side, shifting between staring into his own and looking literally anywhere else.

Loid lifted his other hand and softly swept a few strands of hair behind one of Yuri’s ear, revealing more of his face.

“It’s nice to see more of your face like this. You’re quite handsome, Yu-“

Before he could continue any further, Loid felt something soft land on his lips and stop him from speaking any further, and as he looked down, he saw that Yuri had closed the space between them and landed a shy kiss on his lips.

It was an extremely soft kiss, just barely grazing the top of his lips, and it lasted only a few seconds before Yuri pulled back and stared at Loid in what looked like a mix of complete horror and timidity.

“S-SORRY!” he blurted out, clenching his hands into fists in his lap and looking down to avoid Loid’s gaze.

Loid stared back at him, eyes wide in disbelief and surprise. The kiss was extremely clumsy and uncoordinated, solidifying Loid’s suspicions that Yuri didn’t exactly have any experience in that department. And yet, it had caught him completely off guard, and unsure if the reason he had forgotten to breathe for a few seconds was because of the surprise or because the kiss itself.

It had to be the first reason.

Definitely.

Okay, guess we’re doing it this way. I'll have to improvise. Loid thought, as he leaned in and kissed Yuri once again before the younger man could start panicking even further from the fear of being rejected and run away.

This second kiss was way more coordinated than the first, as Loid, being the more experienced of the two of them, was the one leading. He made sure to not come on too strong, only gently touching Yuri’s lips and letting them slightly part open as he moved in closer. He let his tongue softly trace along Yuri’s lips and let his hands move up to land caringly at the younger man’s sides in a soft embrace, slowly pulling him closer and closer.

After a few seconds, Loid started pulling back, afraid of making the other man uncomfortable, but Yuri was quick to lean in once again, closing the space between them and this time adding a bit more force to the kiss.

It was less clumsy than the first kiss, but Loid let the younger man lead and pulled him closer into an embrace. Yuri’s arms followed Loid and placed themselves around his neck, pulling his mouth deeper into his own as faint moans started escaping from his lips the longer and they kissed.

Loid took Yuri’s vocal cues as an incentive to do more and deepened the kiss even further, letting his tongue glide gently around the other man’s and letting allowing all of his senses to get lost in the taste and smell of the younger Briar sibling. He let his hands glide slowly up and down Yuri’s back, caressing him softly through his shirt while Yuri shifted himself to sit on top of Loid, straddling him and falling deeper into their embrace.

Loid felt a soft moan escape his own mouth and saw himself lose more and more focus on the current mission at hand as he felt himself sink deeper and deeper into Yuri.

The situation had escalated quickly, and Loid wasn’t quite sure what to make of it or how far he was willing to go.

From the reactions of his own body and the burning sensation he was starting to feel in his own crotch area, something told him that the answer to that question was: quite far.

This had not been among the many possible scenarios to this mission he had been imagining just a few hours ago, but the longer they went on, the longer Yuri’s crotch kept shifting against his own through their pants, the more he felt himself lose focus in the mission.

And in all of the many years spanning his career as agent Twilight, that hadn’t happened to him before.

What exactly was going on?

Loid let one of his hands shift from caressing Yuri’s back to sliding along the hemlines of his shirt, not wanting to cross any boundaries and yet feeling himself get more and more turned out by each moan escaping Yuri’s lips.

Yuri moved his lips away from his, face flushed and lips slightly puffy and swollen as he looked into Loid’s eyes, a million emotions and thoughts running through his eyes.

“L-Loid,” he asked, his tone of voice a mix of shyness and pure lust, “You can take it off, if you want to.”

Loid felt his own cheeks heat up by Yuri’s request, and he could say for sure that he most definitely wanted to.

“Okay. You’re sure?” he asked.

“Y-yes. Please.”

Loid nodded and gently started pulling up Yuri’s shirt over his head, exposing his bare chest a few seconds later. Yuri’s skin was quite pale, but he didn’t seem ill. It complemented his dark hair and reddish eyes, and as his upper chest became exposed to him, Loid couldn’t help but lean in and let hips lips trace along the sensitive skin between his collarbones. Yuri's skin felt soft and warm under the touch of his tongue as it slid across his delicate features.

Yuri wasn’t exactly muscular, but his work as a secret police officer had no doubt left him slightly toned, as a pair of softly shaped pecs and upper arm muscles were apparent to see once his upper body was undressed. Loid could, completely objectively, say that he was quite the sight.

Loid let his lips continue down from Yuri’s collarbones and landed near one of his nipples before letting his tongue slightly trace along it and suck it gently, causing the other man to tremble briefly.

This was, of course, all for the plan.

Right.

“W-wait, what are you-“ Yuri said, but was quickly cut short by the sound of his own involuntarily high-pitched moans as Loid continued sucking and shifted to the other nipple once he felt that he had satisfied Yuri enough with one of them.

He looked up every once in a while and caught a glimpse Yuri’s face completely flushed, eyes closed in pleasure, lips slightly parted and dewy. He looked absolutely beautiful, and Loid felt parts of himself flare up at the sight of the younger Briar in sheer ecstasy. He caught him open his eyes for a few seconds, and as they peered into Loid’s own, all he saw was desire and lust: lust for more than what Loid was already giving him, and Loid could feel every part of his body ache to give Yuri even more of what he was already moaning and asking for.

He shifted his hands to slide from Yuri’s back down to the backside of his legs and, in a swift motion, lifted him up and started carrying him to his room at the end of the hall.

Guess there was no turning back now.

This was where the mission was headed.

Yuri let out a quick surprised sound as he felt Loid lift him up, but kept his legs wrapped around the older man’s upper body. Loid could feel Yuri’s dick through his trousers as his legs wrapped tighter and tighter around him, and he felt himself grow more and more desperate for each step closer he got to his room.

When he reached the bedroom, he threw Yuri onto the bed and swiftly climbed on top of him, pinning his arms to the mattress and placing kisses along his upper body and nipples once again.

“Mnnn,” Yuri moaned, eyes closed in deep pleasure, as he gently let his legs wrap around Loid’s lower body once again pulling him closer and urging him to remove the barrier of clothing that stopped that was still standing between them.

“Loid…” he moaned softly.

Loid shifted his hands and traced them down Yuri’s sides, landing at his hips and softly circling the hem of his trousers before Yuri interrupted,

“N-no,” he said quickly, “Not like this. Please,”

Loid looked up into Yuri’s dewy eyes, unsure of what the younger man was asking for. Yuri slowly started sitting up and got off from the bed while leading Loid to sit on the corner of it. He then, while maintaining a stern eye contact with him, started slowly undressing himself until he was completely naked and got down on his knees in front of him while reaching out to unbuckle his belt.

Shit.

Loid had to cover his own mouth at the sight of the younger man between his legs, as he watched him almost desperately fidget away at his belt buckle, hungry to take him in and taste him.

Yuri wasn’t “cute” anymore, bur rather extremely hot, and Loid felt like a mouse being slowly lured into a very seductive trap.

“W-wait, Yuri, you don’t have to-“, he mumbled.

“No no, I want to… Please. If it’s okay.” Yuri whispered softly, and Loid felt himself grow even harder by how dedicate Yuri seemed to be on going down on him.

Fuck, Loid thought.

This was most likely Yuri’s first sexual encounter, but he seemed a lot more overcome with lust than with shyness. Loid could feel just how badly Yuri wanted him. And he was more than willing to give it to him.

This is NOT good.

After a few seconds of fidgeting, Yuri managed to unbuckle Loid’s belt and pull down his trousers before slowly lowering his head in between his thighs and taking in Loid's dick, his mouth slowly gliding down from its head to shaft, completely engulfing him. Loid moaned softly, slightly taken aback by his own lack of vocal control in the situation as Yuri enthusiastically started sucking away at him, letting his tongue trace over every vein and slowly circle his head every time his mouth reached the top in its shifting movements.

It was, quite obviously, the first time Yuri had ever given anyone a blowjob, but even though his rhythm was unsteady and inexperienced, there was something about seeing the younger man go this enthusiastically down on him that made Loid’s dick throb, precum already leaking heavily by each stroke of Yuri’s mouth.

He closed his eyes shut an took in all of the pleasure this young man was clearly so desperate to give him, getting closer and closer to climax at every movement. It felt really good, better than any blowjob Loid had ever been giving before despite the clear lack of experience from Yuri. Or from himself, for that matter. It wasn't as if Loid had ever been intimate like this with another man before.

Yuri’s mouth was warm and soft, and his soft moans continued echoing quietly through the bedroom as his movements continued, his moans faint yet deeply engaged as if he was the one currently being pleasured.

“Oh god…” Loid let out, lifting his hand to rest of Yuri’s head, gently running his fingers through his dark hair as he took in the sight of the younger Briar sibling beneath him. He let his hand run gently across his head in encouraging movements, his silent way of telling Yuri that whatever he was doing felt so fucking good and that he didn't want him to stop.

He noticed after a few seconds that one of Yuri’s hands had made its way between his own legs and watched as Yuri pleasured himself in tune with every stroke his made on Loid’s dick.

If they continued like this, they would both come in a matter of seconds.

Yuri’s mouth felt extremely good, but Loid could quickly feel just how badly he wanted to feel the younger man even more before losing it completely. He gently moved Yuri’s head to the side and removed himself from his mouth, twitching slightly as his dick made contact with the cold air around them, before ordering the younger man back to the bed.

“Yuri, come here,” he said, gesturing towards the space behind him as hasty breaths continued escaping both of their lips.

There was no time for formalities. They both wanted each other, and they wanted each other badly.

Yuri nodded and happily placed himself on the bed, his stomach landing gently on the covers while his back faced Loid as if he had read his mind and already knew exactly what was about to happen. Loid slowly pulled down the remaining part of his pants and removed his shirt as well, completely exposing himself, and let his hands run along the soft skin on Yuri’s back.

He bent down slowly and placed a few kisses on his neck, feeling Yuri shiver beneath him at every touch.

"Yuri," he mumbled, "If you are okay with it, I would like to-"

"Yes, Please Loid," Yuri quickly interrupted, voice ridden with desire.

Loid nodded, wetted one of his fingers with his mouth and let one of his hands glide further down Yuri's back and slowly make its way in between his cheeks, letting one of his fingers enter him gently.

"Hnn," Yuri moaned as Loid's finger made contact with his sensitive insides.

Yuri quivered slightly and a quiet "more" escaped his lips, urging Loid to continue what he was doing. He let his finger glide slowly in and out of him a few times before letting in a second finger, and then a third, continuing in motions like that before he felt that Yuri was open enough for him to enter completely.

He then placed Yuri directly beneath him, the younger man extending his arms to keep himself raised and balanced, and Loid started slowly pushing into him, loud moans escaping Yuri’s lips for every inch he moved in deeper.

“Hnnn,” Yuri moaned, pleased sounds urging Loid to go even deeper, as deep as he could, before he would be satisfied. And Loid obeyed, feeling himself glide completely into Yuri and continue in short yet rapid movements, his breaths growing shorter and shorter each time. He had started out with gentle movements, afraid of hurting the younger man, but as Yuri kept begging him to continue going deeper, harder and faster, he quickly lost track of that thought and gave it his all, losing himself in all of the senses taking over his being.

He was really close and could feel his mind going foggier and foggier by each thrust. Yuri’s moans grew louder as well, as he kept on repeating Loid's name under his hasty breaths, encouraging him to continue.

Loid had one of his hands gripped firmly around Yuri’s waist while he let the other one wander down between his legs as he started stroking the younger man in the same rhythm as his thrusts.

He was so, so close, and in that moment, he had completely forgotten about being a spy, the mission or anything else in the world, for that matter. All he could think, see, feel and taste was Yuri.

A few more seconds passed before he felt every muscle in his body simultaneously contract and release as intense pleasure flushed over him and he felt a warm liquid spill out inside Yuri. Yuri moaned loudly as well, Loid’s name being called out one last time, as his muscles contracted and Loid felt his cum spill out in the hand that had been stroking him.

They landed on top of each other, a total mess of limbs, sweat and hasty breaths, and neither one of them said anything as they fell asleep in each other’s arms shortly afterwards.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Loid woke up the next day to the sound of roadwork being done outside his bedroom window. He got up with a shock and for a second, he almost forgot everything that had just transpired the night before.

Yuri.

He quickly let his eyes scan around the room, but the younger Briar was nowhere to be seen.

… Had he left?

And also…

“Shit!” Loid blurted out, “The mission!”

He lifted a hand to his head and covered his face in an expression of failure, but before he could get any madder at himself for getting, uh, distracted, he heard the sound of the phone ringing in the entrance.

He quickly put on a pair of nearby pants and ran as fast as he could to go get the phone.

“Hello?” the voice said.

It was an unfamiliar voice. Loid stayed quiet until it continued.

“I’m here to deliver flowers to Miss Bennett. Is she here?”

Ah, Loid thought.

A code from WISE. This must be about the mission yesterday.

Shit.

“No, no one named Miss Bennett lives here.” He answered, confirming that he was in on the code language.

“Oh, I see. I must have gotten the address wrong, then. Thank you for your help and sorry for the bother.”

And then they hung up.

Loid placed the phone back in its place and felt his legs give up from the weight under him. He landed butt-first on the wooden floor and let out a huge sigh of relief.

“Oh thank God,” he mumbled, full of relief.

The secret code had just informed him that the agent had returned safely to the headquarters yesterday, and that WISE's speculations about any secret police capturing had been nothing more than that: mere speculations.

Apparently, the agent had just accidentally taken a wrong train and ended up in some faraway village without any way of contacting HQ to let them know that she was safe.

The world, and Operation Strix, was safe for yet another day.

And, in other words, Loid hadn’t failed in acquiring any information last night, since there hadn’t really been any secret information to acquire after all, as it turned out.

So… the mission was… a success?

Loid placed a palm to his face and sighed in what felt like a mixture of defeat and bittersweet success.

That would be decided by the time Yor and Anya came back from their get-away. He would have to find some way of dealing with all of this.

But what in the world would he even tell her??

And what in the world had even happened yesterday?

Neither him nor Yuri had even been intoxicated, and it’s not like there had been any goal with that, uh, “encounter”, since he didn’t exactly manage to get any intel out of Yuri anyway.

So, what did any of it even mean?

And… how did Yuri feel about all of this?

Loid couldn't say, but he was at least sure about the fact that he wasn’t able to deal with any of that right now. He needed some breakfast first. No good thinking came from an empty stomach.

As he made his way towards the kitchen, he caught a glimpse of a note plastered onto the fridge.

It was a note from Yuri.

Something inside him jumped at the sight of it, but he couldn’t quite tell whether it was from anxiety or excitement. Maybe both? He felt oddly giddy and gloomy at the same time, not quite sure where to place his emotions or how to categorise all of these feelings he had been having since last night.

All he knew was that, for the first time in his career, he had absolute noidea what he was going to do.

Loid took down the note from the fridge and let his eyes run over each, carefully reading each and every hastily written word:

Hey.
Last night was fun. Let me know if you would like to hang out again… We could go see a movie. Or go to a museum. Or take a walk in a park… Or something. I don't know. If you would like to, that is. I have to go now because of work. See you soon! Maybe. If you would like to.
Yuri

The note was quite endearing, and even though Loid was well aware of the fact that he had just made his entire situation a million times more complicated than it already was, there was something about this note that genuinely made him feel both relieved and slightly excited at the thought of seeing the younger Briar again soon.

He didn’t quite understand why.

But he would really have to figure out what to do about this entire situation sooner or later.

Hm.

Maybe after taking that walk in the park together.
