Work Text:
Branches scrape against him as he runs, creating numerous little cuts along his bare arms and face that he can do nothing to avoid, the gemborn hybrid's skin tougher than that of a human, but even he isn't impervious to harsh smack of wood as he flees.
His pursuer follows closely at his heels, the sound of him leaping into the air whenever he loses sight of the gemborn causing Skeppy to push himself to go even faster, unsure what'll happen if he gets caught.
All he knows is that the person chasing him is an absolute maniac.
Although in that maniac's defense, Skeppy might have antagonized him maybe the teeniest tiniest little bit.
But in Skeppy's own defense, he was bored.
"Technoooo," Skeppy whines in a loud, pleading tone, drawing out his friend's name for so long that Techno's ears can't help but twitch at the sound.
But other than that slight movement of his bunny ears, Techno doesn't even acknowledge the gemborn.
"Techno!" Skeppy tries again, jumping up from his chair and standing in front of Techno, arms crossed over his chest as he frowns at bunny hybrid.
With a heavy sigh, Techno finally glances up from his book and asks, "What is it, Skeppy?"
"I'm bored, can we go do something?" Skeppy pleads as he begins shifting from foot to foot where he stands, acting like a toddler with far too much energy.
With a small smirk growing, Techno deadpans, "We are doing something. I'm readin' and you're being annoyin'."
"Come onnnn, Techno!" Skeppy tries again, moving closer to the bunny hybrid, ready to snatch the book out of Techno's hands if he has to.
When Skeppy is only two blocks away, Techno growls out in a warning tone, "Take one more step and I'll have to get out of my chair. And trust me, you really don't want that."
"What do you mean?" Skeppy asks in a mock-innocent tone, a shit-eating grin on his face as he continues, "You mean you don't want me to do this?"
As Skeppy moves closer to invade Techno's personal space bubble, Techno stands up in a swift, graceful movement, pushing right back and standing so that he and Skeppy are face to face, aside from that fact that he's a decent amount taller than the gemborn.
"Skeppy, I already told you that I'm busy today," Techno reminds his friend yet again, his voice bordering on turning into a growl. "Why don't you go see if there's someone else you can bother instead."
For a few moments, Skeppy just peers up at Techno, sees the building anger that Techno is trying so hard to keep at bay.
If Skeppy was smart, he'd know when to back down, know when to cut his losses and leave so Techno can finish his tasks.
But where's the fun in that?
So Skeppy does what any respectable person would do.
He reaches up to boop Techno on the nose.
And then he runs.
A breathless little laugh escapes Skeppy as he bolts out of Techno's house, the bunny hybrid releasing a growl as he begins leaping after Skeppy.
Techno's a bunny hybrid, meaning some people might think that he's just a fluffy little guy, but no, he's actually fucking terrifying when he's pissed off.
And yeah, he's pretty damn pissed right now.
Skeppy runs and runs and runs and runs and keeps on running for what feels like hours, his legs beginning to feel weak and terribly shaky, but he keeps on pushing himself to go faster and farther, some primal part of his brain telling him that he needs to get away from the threat before he's killed.
He knows Techno won't kill him.
Probably.
But he still really doesn't want to face Techno's wrath firsthand.
It's only a matter of time though before he grows too tired.
Or, in this case, until he trips and hurts his ankle.
One moment he's running, then the next he's on the ground, his nose throbbing from the harsh impact with the dirt, his right ankle absolutely screaming with agony.
Despite the pain though, Skeppy tries to push himself upright.
He gets his trembling, exhausted arms underneath him enough to push himself a few inches off of the ground, but the second his leg shifts potions he drops back down into the dirt with a garbled, pained cry.
It's only a matter of minutes before Techno finds him, before he stumbles upon where Skeppy lays in the dirt, whimpering in pain and unable to get up.
And Techno's anger at being interrupted by Skeppy for the millionth time today instantly fades away at the sight of his friend's pain, a soothing sound leaving Techno as he kneels down beside the gemborn.
"Shhh, it's okay, you're gonna be okay," Techno murmurs as he places a hand on Skeppy's back, rubbing soothing circles into his skin that steadily helps him relax against the dirt.
Unable to keep himself from poking fun at Skeppy, and trying his best to lighten the mood a bit, Techno asks in a teasing tone, "Is this what you were hopin' for when you say you wanted to do somethin'?"
While sniffling, Skeppy weakly bites out, "F-Fuck off, Techno."
Absolutely hating the sound of his friend being on the brink of crying, Techno gently says, "Hey, hey, it's alright. Let's get you back home so I can get you a health pot, okay? Does that sound good?"
"And then c-cuddle?" Skeppy hesitantly asks as he sniffles again, his question making Techno roll his eyes fondly.
"Yeah, man, we can cuddle," Techno agrees with a good-natured sigh, his tone taking on a teasing edge as he says, "You better not go braggin' afterwards though. Can't have everyone thinkin' that I'm soft."
Skeppy just smiles shakily at that, his pain seeming to die down a bit as Techno scoops him off the ground and begins carrying him back to his house.
So even though Skeppy's ankle feels like it's literally on fire, he has to admit that being carried by Techno is quite nice.
And by the time they finally cuddle on the couch together, his sprained ankle steadily mending itself thanks to the health pot Techno gave him, Skeppy is smiling almost nonstop.
While still smiling, Skeppy glances at the book that Techno had been reading earlier, feeling smug satisfaction over the way Techno's no longer focused on the book, instead using both hands to hold him close as they lay in each other's embrace.
Looks like Skeppy might have to do this more often then…
