Lumine and Kody both sat on the couch next to each other, with Lumine watching Kody play a game on his game console which was hooked up to the television for a better experience. Lumine watched intently, amazed, as Kody made his way through the levels seemingly easily. Kody glanced over to Lumine and could practically see the sparkles in his eyes as he watched him play. Kody kept his face carefully blank as he turned back to the game, a funny feeling in his chest.
"You're so good at this!” Lumine exclaimed as he perked up when he watched Kody defeat the boss on the level he was on. “Do you think you could teach me how to play?” Lumine asked as he looked towards Kody, who had paused in what he was doing. Kody looked at Lumine with a slightly shocked expression and stared at him silently for a moment.
Lumine tilted his head to the side as he stared back at Kody before he startled and quickly said, “You don’t have to if you don’t want to!” He waved his arms around as he started babbling about him not having to bother with his dumb request; he just thought it was cool to try and learn how to play it.
Kody watched blankly, before he turned his head away from him and spoke quietly. “I can show you if you really want to.” Lumine immediately stopped babbling and stared at Kody with stars in his eyes before saying happily, “You will?! I would love to learn!”
Kody looked back to Lumine with the weird feeling in his chest getting bigger, as he nodded and got up to grab another controller. “You can learn as you help me with this level, it shouldn’t be too hard of a level.” He handed Lumine the extra controller as he sat back down. Lumine stared at the controller in his hands for a moment before he grabbed it correctly before nodding.
Kody watched him for a moment before he started up the game and connected Lumine’s controller and watched his character pop up on screen. “You use this joystick to move around,” He pointed to the joystick as Lumine nodded and moved his character around on screen. “hold down this button to crouch,” He pointed to the A button on the controller. Lumine followed his instructions and made the character crouch.
As Kody explained the mechanics, they started to fight some low-level enemies and he made sure to watch Lumine as he fought some. Lumine switched his focus to the controller and the game frequently, to make sure he was doing the correct actions he wanted to do. Lumine managed to defeat some of the low-level enemies and smiled brightly. “I did it! I’m actually getting the hang of this. Thanks Kody!”
Lumine turned to face Kody and smiled brightly at him, his tail wagging quickly as his ears were perked up, proud that he managed to understand the controls thanks to Kody’s help. Kody was quiet for a moment, his chest ached with something, but he wasn’t sure what. But he turned to face Lumine and saw the bright smile and wagging tail, and his cheeks felt warm as he stared for a moment. He quickly turned away and said, “y-yeah, your welcome.”
Lumine turned back to the game and continued to defeat any enemies he saw, he was slowly getting better at not diverting his focus as much. Kody made sure to defeat enemies as well, but he also made sure to help Lumine if he mixed up any controls, and to keep him on track as they continued to complete the level.
As time passed and the sun set, they made it through multiple levels before they both started to get tired. Lumine was doing his best to stay awake as he started to droop into the couch, slowly blinking as he rubbed one of his eyes. Kody was a bit more awake, though he still yawned every once in a while, but was able to keep making his way through the level they were on.
After about ten more minutes Kody noticed Lumine’s character stopped moving and looked over at Lumine to see he was asleep. Kody paused the game and set his controller on the side table before he turned to Lumine and carefully started to take the controller from his hands to disconnect it.
Kody got up to put the controller back over to where it was stored, and quietly sat back down and got himself comfortable before he decided to continue playing, hoping that if he stayed up too late and slept in they could skip school tomorrow. He was startled out of his planning by pressure against his shoulder.
Kody froze for a moment, and looked to his side to see Lumine had moved and was now leaning against his shoulder. He stared at him for a while, and watched as Lumine mumbled something under his breath and nuzzled into his arm, before sighing quietly and settling.
Kody was as still as a rock, he stopped moving a while ago, and was just gaping disbelievingly at Lumine, who was still asleep against him. He watched, once more, as Lumine rubbed his cheek against his arm and pushed against him more. He sat still for a moment longer before he slumped more into the couch, and just accepted his fate.
Kody would just feel bad for waking Lumine up, and he also kinda liked the warm feeling in his chest seeing Lumine sleeping against him. Kody paused at that thought, before his cheeks were dusted a faint pink and he realized he found Lumine’s company pleasant, albeit just slightly annoying. He looked back over to Lumine and realized his hair and ears looked much softer, and fluffier up close, and was very tempted to see if that was true.
He debated with himself for a moment, before deciding to carefully lift his hand, and place it gently on Lumine’s head, right between his ears. He waited a moment for a reaction from Lumine, before he carefully ran his hand through his hair. Kody found out he was, in fact, correct about how soft Lumine’s hair was.
He continued to carefully run his hands through Lumine’s hair before he felt Lumine move a bit and he froze. He watched for a moment, hearing Lumine mumble something and push up against his hand, his tail quietly thudding against the couch. Kody stayed still for a moment before he continued, and watched, slightly embarrassed, as Lumine pushed his head into his hand more.
Kody continued to run his fingers through Lumine’s head before he carefully moved his hand to one of his ears, and noticed how Lumine instantly melted into him and pushed his head into his hand more, his tail still quietly thudding against the couch. Kody instantly thought about how cute that was, and without really thinking, continued to carefully rub and scratch Lumine’s ear with a hand.
After a moment he moved and carefully managed to pull his other hand out from under Lumine, and used both hands to gently rub his ears . Kody saw how Lumine melted against him even more, and was practically a puddle on the couch at this point. Kody didn’t really think this through, it was just on impulse at this point with how he thought of Lumine as a cat, even though he’s very much a werewolf.
He hadn’t even noticed when he had himself and Lumine situated where Lumine was laying on top of him while he gently messed with his ears. He was just a bit too distracted with the task at hand. What he did notice was how Lumine consistently pushed his head into his hands, and sometimes rubbed his nose into them. Which he, secretly, found adorable and will never admit it out loud, especially in front of his dad.
After a while he decided to settle down with the attention he was giving Lumine, as he himself was tired and should probably sleep. Kody yawned and slumped more into the couch, as his eyes slowly slid closed and he fell into a blissful sleep, unknowing of the consequences of his dad finding out about this.

The next morning, when Aiden went to wake up Lumine for breakfast that he made for them before they needed to head to school, but he didn’t find him in his room, and he immediately went to check on Kody’s room. When he couldn’t find them there he went looking in Kody’s usual hiding spots and still couldn’t find them. He was worried they ran off somewhere outside the house and went to go and call Sherry before he heard some quiet music coming from one of the hangout rooms.
Aiden walked into the room and was immediately about to loudly proclaim breakfast was ready, thinking they were awake since a game was on screen, before he paused, and took in the sight he saw. He gaped as he saw the situation in front of him, and just stood there for a while staring. Kody was laying on the couch, in a probably really uncomfortable position, with Lumine laying on top of him, his face nuzzled into Kody’s stomach with his ears lowered a bit and his tail wrapped around his own leg.
Aiden wasn’t sure what to think, he was a bit disappointed in them both for clearly staying up too late playing some type of video game, but he was also extremely giddy and proud that Kody finally opened up to someone. So he decided to do the best thing to do in this situation…
Take multiple photos of them both while snickering quietly like some school girl who just got some juicy gossip, and immediately leave the room quietly to show everyone the photos of the two of them. He giggled to himself as he made his way to the kitchen to show everyone, knowing full well Kody will, hopefully, never find out he has these photos.
