Where are the good alphas?

Summary:

A tragicomedy, that unravels thanks to a bouquet of flowers that was delivered with the wrong name.
Or, where Harry sends flowers to his omega, but the flower shop gets the name wrong and instead of writing down Draco’s name on the label, they wrote 'Amber'.

Chapter 1: Chapter 1

Chapter Text

Harry enters his office humming, in a good mood. That's very odd because everyone is used to the serious, moody Harry Potter. Hermione arches an eyebrow and looks at Ron, who shrugs his shoulders and looks back at Harry like he's a Martian coming from Mars.

The alpha, who is normally serious and scary, is opening the windows of his office and humming a soft tune that is unknown to them. He looks relaxed and happy.

Hermione and Ron think all that happiness is due to a Draco in a bikini coming out of a huge cake or something, it probably must be that. Harry is never happy at work, just quiet from time to time. But never happy.

"Should I be worried because he's smiling?" whispers Ron, genuinely uneasy. They both watch Harry organize his desk. Hermione arches an eyebrow and looks at her alpha. "Have you done something wrong?" He inquires directly. "No!" he half whispers half exclaims, highly offended. "Of course not, what do you take me for, sweetheart?"

"This is weird," Hermione admits, ignoring her offended alpha. "He usually comes in a bad mood and pushes Jeremy away." The alpha nods. "You're right." He frowns. "And Jeremy is there, and in one piece." Ron looks at his omega. "You think Draco did something?"

Hermione rolls her eyes. "Ronald, Draco is the only one who can tame the beast. Of course, he had something to do with it."

Ron nods a little. "Yeah, Draco's a little scary too. I guess that makes them perfect for each other..." The omega frowns heavily and looks at her alpha. He knows Ron respects Draco immensely, but he would never have guessed it would be out of fear.

"How can you be afraid of Draco? He's half your size, and he doesn't even have a scary face.

Yeah, but he yells a lot at me..." He mumbles, truly embarrassed. "I'm sorry, honey, but when you yell at me, it also scares me."

Hermione rolls her eyes and snorts; her alpha is a bit of a scaredy-cat and coward. The couple tenses and startles as Harry comes up to them, walking casually and relaxed, with a small smile that doesn't show his teeth. They each pretend to go back to work, she pretends to read something while Ron scribbles in his notebook as if he's writing things down.

"Good morning." Greets Harry good-natured, not the least bit suspicious.

"Good morning, Harry." Hermione replies, as if it's the first time she's seen him this morning. "You seem pleased today, anything special?" "Yes," adds Ron. "The last time I saw you smile at work was when you kicked Tom out of the company. Harry's smile widens at the memory, it's too eerie for the others. "Today is Draco and I's anniversary,"  he replies.

It all makes more sense now, Hermione says with tenderness. "Awe, that's really nice, Harry. Do you have anything nice planned for Draco?"

Yes." He replies with a smile. "For starters, I've sent him a bouquet of flowers. They'll arrive in half an hour, right the time he usually gets up. Then I booked a romantic private dinner at L'étoile brillante , the restaurant Draco enjoyed decorating so much. Draco is an exterior designer and absolutely loves his job. Harry remembers how thrilled his omega looked talking about that restaurant, so, when it came to choosing a place for their anniversary dinner, he didn’t hesitate to make a reservation at L'étoile brillante . Of course, Draco expects nothing of the sort. They don't usually celebrate their anniversary in a big way, only with simple details like a necklace or a watch.

But this year the alpha wants to surprise his omega, he can't wait to see Draco's excited face. He can almost imagine him holding that beautiful bouquet of tulips and sunflowers.

Hermione looks delighted with that, so Harry thinks that having her omega friend's approval must also be a good sign.

"That's so romantic!" she sighs dreamily. "He's going to love it, Harry, trust me."

"Thank you, Hermione, I hope you are right." He says with a shy little smile.

"Trust me, as long as you don't take him out to eat at a hot dog stand, everything is fine." She assures him with a reassuring smile. Ron frowns. "Wait a minute, I took you to a hot dog stand last year for our anniversary." Hermione doesn't turn to Ron, just smiles at Harry. "Trust me, Draco's going to love it."
