Light his Coat in Turpentine, Kill the Bitch that Bats an Eye

Summary:

Hermione stepped lightly around Stonehenge, she walked around each stone archway, inspecting each one before she stopped. “Malfoy, there are a lot of footprints around this archway.”

Draco looked up, “Footprints?”

“Yeah, but only on the inside of the circle, but there are no steps on the other side. They almost seem like they are walking into something that isn’t there.” She spoke reaching out.

“Stop,” Draco spoke as he walked over to where she stood. “You’re really just going to touch things that might be dangerous cause you got curious?”

Hermione pulled her hand back, her hazel eyes watching as he walked over to her. “It almost sounds like you care.”

“I don’t care, I just rather not have to deal with a new partner.” He spoke mockingly.

“A new partner who doesn’t know that you prefer two spoons of sugar in your black coffee, or a hint of hazelnut when it’s raining.” She spoke with a sly smile.

“You're rather observant aren’t you, I take my tea with a spoon of honey as soon as I walk into the office.” He looked back at her.
“And so are you. You always seem to ignore my presence when we have to sit across from each other in the office when we aren’t out on missions.”

Work Text:

“They have been saying strange things have been happening here,” Hermione spoke placing a hand on one of the rock archways. Draco watched her as if she was solving some kind of riddle. The two were getting used to working with each other and having to stay out in remote areas. This was the first time they would be having to stay at the actual location. No separate rooms, no luxury beds that he preferred, and no warm meals that were prepared in restaurants. They were out on a new mission, this time they got to travel a bit further than they had before.

“I’m surprised they were able to detour the muggles away with a weather charm so we could investigate a little further.” Draco walked to the center of the circle looking around. “I bet some wizards did this and made the muggles in the past believe that it was done by the ancients.”

“Or you know aliens are a fun one to hear people talk about.” Her hand moved over a faint outline in the stone.

“You have got to be kidding me.” He spoke in an annoyed tone. “Muggles are so strange, some of the things they come up with are so illogical sometimes.”

“I don’t think it’s so illogical when it’s sometimes hard to explain what isn’t easy to explain. Sometimes, it’s easy to think one thing over the other cause it’s more interesting.”

“I forgot you grew up as a muggle.” Draco mocked her.

“You forgot? How did you forget you remind me almost every day when I do something odd.” She spoke back.

Draco shrugged slightly, “Well I highly doubt these aliens you speak of have built this.”

“Probably witches and wizards I would assume, probably did everything in secret before they were caught. They have found mass graves possibly a massacre.” Hermione stepped away and peered through the doorway of one of the arches. “One culture ends, and another takes over. They can change everything about something to fit their beliefs. It makes you wonder where it really did start.”

“Probably with giants, bored giants playing with stone blocks,” Draco spoke a bit annoyed. “You are thinking too deeply on this, we are just out here to figure out why muggles are coming back mumbling about knights, dragons, and giants. I swear if it turns out to be muggles eating mushrooms thinking they are edible when they aren’t. I’m going to be pissed. A week in a tent is not my idea of fun.”

“You are such a sour puss, we are getting paid to camp out and experience something not many get to do or even be so close to.” Hermione started to fumble a bit in her bag. “Not like camping is sleeping on the floor in a sleeping bag.”

“You act like you are a pro when it comes to this camping thing.” He walked looking out over the area seeing the dark storm clouds that wrapped around their research area.

Hermione looked up at him glaring. “Did you forget Harry, Ron, and I were running from you guys when you tried to hunt us down in our 7th year?”

“In my defense, I was chilling in the manor.” He spoke looking back and seeing a very angry witch.

“I’m glad you had the convenience of living indoors.” She looked away and pulled the small fabric from her bag. She tossed it down on the ground. She used her wand and with a flick of her wrist, the tent started to set itself up in the middle of Stonehenge.

Draco watched the tent form from a small piece of fabric to a small tent. “Luckily I’ll have my own space away from you when we take breaks and call it a day.”

“You act as though we aren’t sharing a bed.” She coyly spoke stepping inside.

Draco followed after. “Granger what are you talking about one bed.”

She turned around to face him and she stuck her tongue out. “You sound as if I wouldn’t be able to conjure a tent that wouldn’t be able to fit two beds and a little nook to eat at.”

Draco frowned, she was getting a bit bold when it came to barking back at him. “I swear at the end of this trip I’m going to take a vacation.” He sighed as he took a seat on one of the beds.

“This is almost like a vacation. I mean families and individuals come here to visit.” Hermione went to the table and started digging through her bag pulling out supplies for the week. “I’m sorry it’s not what you are used to, but you have to say this is unique.”

“It’s not unique we're just surrounded by a circle of rocks.” Draco spoke looking at the makeshift tent inside. The two beds were separated, one on each side, but there wasn’t even a curtain to block the other out.

“Maybe, but try to keep an open mind, you do claim that these were built with magic so just enjoy a bit of history of this place. We don’t have to come back after we figure out what is going on.” Hermione closed up her back and holstered it to her side. “Ready to go back out and look around before it gets dark?”

“Lead the way, Granger.” He stood back up from the bed. Hermione walked past him and he followed after her. He just wanted the day to end, he was hoping that they wouldn’t have to stay the whole week out here, that they would solve this problem rather quickly so they could go home. He wasn’t happy about camping no matter how luxurious she made it sound with what she could conjure. Everything was rather basic.

You always seem to ignore my presence when we have to sit across from each other in the office when we aren’t out on missions.” She took a sideways step trying to get a better look at that particular stone archway.

“Not like I requested that we work together.” He spoke as he watched her carefully.

She glanced back at him. “No, but I did.”

Draco blinked at her confused. “You did what?!”

“I requested to work with you.” She spoke turning her attention to the open doorway. “I wanted to make sure I was challenged every step of the way when it came to working on cases.”

She really did this on purpose, she purposely made sure they were partnered up together, why on earth would she think this would be a great idea? For being the brightest witch of her age, she did the stupidest of things. She asked for him to be her partner because she wanted to be challenged. Why on earth would the ministry agree to this, why would they think this would be a great idea considering their background with each other? “You wanted to be challenged? You have got to be kidding me.” He placed his hands into his coat pocket as he stood in front of her.

She looked up to him, she could tell he was irritated with her now. “I didn’t mean it to be a bad thing.” She took a step towards him, she wasn’t about to back down from him. She held her hand out an inch from touching the archway.

“You wouldn’t dare,” Draco warned.

Hermione smirked as she ran through the archway. Draco followed after her, he grabbed a hold of her arm. Hermione closed her eyes tightly when she felt a bright light nearly blind her. Draco moved his hand in front of him to shield the blinding light. Draco bumped right into the back of her as he tried to gain focus.

Everything was completely different. The tall grass mounds protruded out of the ground more intensely, they looked fresh maybe looking like they had been manmade a few years ago. Dandelions wavered along a different dirt path than they had taken earlier in the day. She turned back to see their tent was gone and the stone circle of the archways looked cleaner and more put together. She turned back to look at an irritated Draco.

“I told you not to touch it.” He growled out rubbing his forehead.

Hermione looked around where they had just come through. She could see the footprints now, she could tell that who had come through had panicked from the different directions that the footsteps took off in. “… Footsteps.” She whispered stepping back over to the archway they came through. “Malfoy don’t act like I knew this would happen.”

Malfoy put his hands in his pockets, he took a few steps back over, and looked at the footsteps Hermione had homed in on. “You always seem to make these investigations more intense than they should be.”

Hermione looked up at Draco frowning a bit. “I don’t mean to I just get curious and when I feel like I’m onto something then I just hyper-fixate on it.”

Draco sighed, he felt bad she really was one to try to solve things quickly even when it wasn’t ideal. She would put herself in danger if it meant a successful mission. “Listen, I get it, but it feels like something isn’t right. We found the footprints, but now, did we go through a portal of some kind?”

“I mean if it’s a portal we can walk back through right?” Hermione spoke as she stepped forward going back through the archway. Draco watched her as she tried to go back and forth between the archway.

“Or you broke it.” Draco took a seat on a boulder that was close to Stonehenge. The sun was starting to set over the horizon. “Give it a break Granger, it’s starting to get late and we are missing a tent now, unless you got a backup tent in that bag of yours.”

“No, but I mean I have blankets and pillows that’s about it. I don’t think we could find a place to stay, I’m thinking this portal sent us back in time.” Hermione looked around a bit. “No place to truly go stay in, I wouldn’t even know what kind of clothing is the norm here.”

“You act as though we are going to be stuck here for a while,” Draco spoke.

Hermione shrugged her shoulders. “I mean maybe? Some of the muggles they talked to made it sound like they were gone for months, but when they showed back up mumbling gibberish only a few minutes had passed.”

“I swear Granger, if we are here longer than a few days I will lose it.” Draco stood and walked away.

“Where are you going?” Hermione asked.

“To set up wards, we don’t need to have someone coming across us. Just try to figure something out.” Draco took his wand out and started to walk to the outskirts.

Hermione watched him as he set up wards that would be protective for them while they tried to figure things out about why this was suddenly a portal and who might have bewitched it. It had to be something magical, but why would someone bewitch this archway? Did the person know or understand that this meant that muggles could walk through and be transported? Or was that the plan all along? The sunlight was now fading behind the dark sea-green hills. She dug around in her bag and pulled out a few sleeping bags and a couple of pillows. This would have to do until they could find a way home. She pulled out a couple of books and sat them near her sleeping bag. “Will have to go out and gather some wood if we want a fire for tonight.” She whispered.

Draco walked back over to where she had sat up the sleeping bags. “I can’t believe I’m sleeping on the ground.”

“You know people pay to go camping like this,” Hermione spoke. “We need to go gather wood unless you want to freeze.”

Draco nodded. “A bit of a trek, maybe a mile from here. It’s almost dark out.”

“Then we better head out then,” Hermione spoke, she closed her bag and headed towards the woods.

Draco reluctantly followed behind her. “Did you come up or figure anything out?”

Hermione glanced back over to Draco. “I think someone placed the portal to go through time, but I don’t think they realized muggles could go through. I think there are only certain times you can go back through the archway. We might just have to try every day until we can go back through.”

Draco looked back at her as he shook his head. “So it’s a waiting game.”

Hermione nodded. “Yeah, looks like we are going to probably drive each other crazy, I wouldn’t blame you if you decided to ask for another partner.” Her tone was soft, but almost sad.

Draco picked up on her tone quickly. “I mean will figure somethi.-“ A loud boisterous roar from above. Draco moved and pushed her into the woods. Hermione nearly tripped, she looked over to the sky a shadowy figure flew above them.

Hermione glanced at Draco who stood in front of her his wand already drawn. The fire that shot from the dragon’s jaws was a beautiful cobalt flame. “Cousin of yours?” She spoke jokingly barely above a whisper.

Draco didn’t make a sound or acknowledge her until the dragon passed through. “Not a cousin.” He spoke taking a step back from her. “Luckily he’s not one that likes to chomp down on muggles or witches and wizards, but it’s best we not draw attention to ourselves.”

“Malfoy, I was just trying to lighten the mood.” Hermione spoke as she started to pick up some branches for a fire.

“You wouldn’t have to lighten the mood if you had just listened to me.” He spoke coldly.

Hermione frowned, “Are you still upset about that or the fact I asked for you to be my partner?”

Draco didn’t say a single word as he gathered up a few logs that would work for the fire. The two finished up and headed back to their small campsite. Hermione didn’t say a single word to the other. Draco started the fire and Hermione pulled out two wrapped sandwiches for the two. She sat a sandwich down on one of the boulders she had set up camp near. She took her sandwich and sat down near the fire. “Thank you.” He spoke out softly.

“You are welcome.” She spoke unwrapping her sandwich. “I’ll put the request in once we get home, back to our time.”

Draco looked over to her a bit confused. “Why you are the one that wanted us together.”

“Because I know you aren’t happy with me as a partner. So, I’ll make sure you can have someone else, someone who isn’t one for pushing boundaries.” Hermione took a few bites of her sandwich.

Draco frowned, he hit a nerve with her. If she was willing to give in and look for another partner and free him. “Listen, it’s just. You’re a lot to deal with, a lot more than I ever would have imagined. I just thought you were this bookworm that had her nose in the books. But here we are because you wanted to push the limits.” He sighed. “I mean this is probably a once-in-a-lifetime experience, but still not sure when we will get back is a bit scary.”

“I honestly didn’t know this would happen,” Hermione spoke.

“I know,” Draco spoke as he unwrapped the sandwich she offered him. “I don’t want you to put a transfer in and I won’t put a transfer in when I get home, but I need you to start listening to me when I tell you something is dangerous. I don’t know how many times I can protect you or even if I can. Do you promise to listen to me when I tell you to stop?” He took a bite of the sandwich, the fire crackled in front of them.

“And if I tell you no you would stop?” She asked.

Draco quirked a brow. “What would I be doing that you would ask me to stop?”

Hermione shrugged her shoulders. “I don’t know.”

“Is there something else you aren’t telling me about? Did you pair us up for another reason?” He asked her, questioning her motives.

“No, it’s just that, I thought maybe we could eventually be friends. Maybe you would get used to being around muggle-borns or something.” She finished her sandwich. “I think I’m going to turn in and maybe once daybreak hits tomorrow I’ll try to get us back home.”

“We will do this together,” Draco spoke. “Rest I’ll probably stay up a little longer and make sure the wards are working and head to bed after.”

“Are you sure? I can stay up a little longer with you if you like.” She replied.

Draco shook his head. “It’s fine, it’s not a two-person kind of job.”

Hermione nodded, she moved over and crawled beneath the thick sleeping bag. She closed her eyes. This trip out here felt like it pushed both of them to their breaking points. Hermione had only tried her best to make him feel at ease that it was ok to work and have a little bit of fun. But unfortunately her joke turned into something that turned their whole world upside down. “You aren’t worried about the dragon coming back are you?” She whispered, opening her eyes halfway to look at Draco.

“No, the Swedish Short-Snout tends to hide away from humans, it must have been out hunting, though it is pretty far from home, makes me wonder if it was a young male that got pushed out of the territory by older dragons.” Draco tossed a couple more sticks on the fire.

“You sure do know a lot about dragons,” Hermione spoke.

Draco only shrugged. “Well, my name does mean dragon, so I guess it’s only fitting I know a bit about them.”

“what else do you know about?” Hermione asked curiously.

Draco stood from the small boulder he was sitting on stepped over and laid next to her on his sleeping bag. He used his wand to darken the flame enough that the two could see the clear sky. Draco pointed up and used his right index finger. “That constellation, it’s supposed to be a dragon.”

“Do you know that other constellations?” Hermione asked once more.

“Yeah,” Draco pointed out a few more constellations. “Orion’s belt, Scorpius, Leo, then of course there are the smaller known constellations and stars, but it takes time to learn everything.”

“Depending on how long we are here, maybe you can teach me a few each night. If you are ok with that.” Hermione spoke looking out over at him.

Draco nodded. “I mean, all we really have is time now until we figure out how to get home. But for now rest, we got a lot of work ahead of us.”

Hermione let out a sigh as she looked back up to the sky, looking at all the different constellations he had pointed out to her. She remembered back to the times her mother and father would take her camping in the Forest of Dean, then to when she pulled the boys into the Forest of Dean because that’s where she felt the safest during the chase. Her hazel eyes started to grow heavy. She couldn’t fight sleep any longer. She woke a few hours later, the smell of fading campfire filled her nose, but she felt the weight of something against her. She noticed an arm draped over her. She turned back to see a sleeping Draco. “Malfoy, move back you’re a bit heavy.” She spoke trying to nudge him back.

Draco opened his eyes halfway before he pushed himself back and away from her. “Why did you have to put the sleeping bags so close together.”

She sat up in her sleeping bag. “How is this my fault?” She spoke out sleepily. “You could have moved your sleeping bag wherever you wanted. I only woke up because it felt like all of your weight was on me and something was poking into me.”

“Poking you?” He whispered before he looked down, he quickly grabbed his pillow, and placed it over his lap.

Hermione looked at him confused before she started to laugh. “Looks like you were really up before me.” She realized what was going on when he covered himself. “It’s nothing to be ashamed about.”

“I’m not ashamed about anything Granger, just go back to bed.” He was flustered with her now. His face was slightly red.

“What are you going to do take care of it when I fall asleep?” She asked still sitting up and looking at him. “Curious to know if there is something you aren’t telling me now?” Hermione smirked.

Draco only glared daggers at her, but she didn’t back down. She didn’t mind playing or messing with him. He was vulnerable, something that was very rare to come across with him. “Go back to bed, Granger.” He warned her.

“I would say make me, but you look like you are at a disadvantage.” Her smirk never faded.

Draco caught sight of her smirk and only grew more frustrated with her. “I am not at a disadvantage, I’m perfectly fine.”

“So if I was to crawl over to you, you would be able to get away before I got to you?” She joked.

“You wouldn’t,” He warned.

Hermione moved over closer, taking a seat beside him. “Tell me what you are really trying to hide? We are going to be stuck together for a while, so you might as well be honest with me.”

“Honestly I want you to get the fuck away from me.” He shifted a little.

Hermione froze at his words and sat back down on Draco’s sleeping bag. “I just thought.” She whispered.

“What that this happened because of you?” He scoffed.

Hermione’s heart seemed to shatter in the cage of her chest. She stood and took off from the makeshift camp that they had set up. “Damnit.” He murmured as he got up and took off after her. She was a lot faster than he thought she would have been. He was close to her heels when he tackled her into the tall grass pinning her down.

She looked up at him her face flush and cheeks bright red. Her breathing was hard, she was on her back she could feel his weight on her. He looked down at her, his hands wrapped around her wrists. “What do you want Malfoy?” She whispered, her chest rising and falling with each breath she took.

He leaned down and forced his lips against her lips firmly. Her eyes widened, but soon closed as she pressed her lips against his. Draco let go of her wrists, her hands slowly moved up and placed them on his chest. He broke the kiss slowly. He opened his silver eyes and looked down at her once more. Hermione opened her honey-colored eyes halfway when she felt the kiss break. “What do you want Malfoy? Because I can feel something poking me once more.”

Draco couldn’t help himself as he moved off of her a bit, and allowed his right hand to travel down between her thighs, she hadn’t changed into anything different from today. She was still wearing her long black skirt. He simply brushed his hand against her thighs tenderly, moving close and teasing her through her panties. Hermione’s breath hitched when she felt his thumb start to rub roughly against the fabric. He only smirked when he saw her, when she bit down on her bottom lip he couldn’t help, but slip her panties down around her ankles, Hermione moved and kicked them off fully. “Tell me what you want Malfoy.” She whispered again.

Draco started to unbutton his pants, he leaned down and whispered into her left ear. “I want to pin you down and fuck you into the ground.” His right hand moved once more, roughly inserting his fingers, his fingers already thick from her juices, a chuckle escaped his lips, when she gasped. “Tell me Granger, what do you want. Because right now, I’ve barely touched you and you are already dripping wet for me.”

Hermione reached down and pulled his cock out of his pants, her left hand slowly sliding up and down, she twisted lightly enough not to hurt him. “… I want you to fuck me into the ground Malfoy.” She whispered in return.

Malfoy pulled his hand away from her entrance, he moved her hand from his already rock-hard cock. He moved back over her and pushed his way into her wet pussy. She shuddered when she felt his cock start to rub against her walls. She closed her eyes tightly, he was bigger than she thought he was. She wasn’t complaining.

Draco started to move in and out of her, he wasn’t going slow, he knew she was experienced, and he didn’t need to be delicate with her. He knew he could bend her over on all fours and take her from behind, but right now he wanted her to look at him. He wanted to show his dominance towards her especially with how much she was messing with him to get him to fuck her. He wanted to watch her scream and moan at each thrust he made into her. He knew that he would have more opportunities to fuck her. He wouldn’t let Hermione forget about any of this and the longer they were locked out of the portal he would ensure that he fucked her like she wanted.

He moved her legs up over his shoulders, he was forcing himself deeper and deeper into her. She screamed out when he felt him hit her just right. Her pants quickly turned to moans and her fingers laced into the tall grass. “… Good girl…” He whispered out smirking.

Draco continued to pick up his pace, he knew he was at a good angle now when he heard her scream out. Hermione felt his hands grip her hips tightly. Another scream escaped her lips. Her head tilted back and her toes curled above his head. “Louder…” He whispered pinching down on her hips as he slammed into her roughly just to hear her scream again for him. His breathing was picking up, he was enjoying this a lot more than he thought he would have with her. He didn’t know how loud she could truly get. He pushed into her a few more times before he pressed as hard as he could into her. He came right into her. He was panting heavily now as he kept her pinned down making sure she took everything he had.

She screamed when he slammed into her one last time. Her breathing was hard as she finally let go of the grass, her honey eyes opening halfway to look at a smirking Draco. “…. Told you I wasn’t at a disadvantage…”
