it's a love story, baby, just say yes

Summary:

Why was Pac so interested in polyamory? Tubbo supposed he could be considered polyamorous since he was dating Fit and had his weird soulmate mind-link with Mike. He’d always been under the impression that Pac and Mike weren’t dating, but not exactly friends either. He wasn’t sure if it counted or not. And what did Pac’s interest in polyamory have to do with him?

// or, Pac has a goal, Fit has a realization, and Tubbo has confusion. Lightly inspired by the fact that CC!Tubbo keeps saying he should explore polyamory

Work Text:

“You guys ever considered polyamory?”

Fit shrugged, handing him more blocks. It’d been a long time since Morning Crew had been free to hang out together. Tubbo had been pouring all his time into building the trains in the Town of Fobo and Fit and Pac had been busy doing whatever couples did.

They were still missing Bagi, but Tubbo had a feeling she wouldn’t be waking up today. The sun was starting to sink again, signaling the transition from morning to afternoon.

“We can do that here?” Fit responded after a moment of deep thought. Tubbo watched the cogs turn in his mind.

“I mean, yeah? There aren’t really any laws here. We just kinda do whatever until Cucurucho gets pissed off at us and starts stealing everyone’s drills.” He silently cursed Cucurucho, remembering the loss of his Mega-Drill.

“Tubbo aren’t you polyamorous? Since you’re dating Fred and married to Tommy?” Pac chimed in, jumping down from the roof he was helping construct.

“Not willingly! Never in my life would I willingly marry Tommyinnit. He just won’t let me divorce him.” He laughed awkwardly, making a mental note to start pushing Tommy about the divorce again.

“Are you even still dating Fred?” Fit asked, cautiously raising an eyebrow.

“Nah man I think he’s fucking dead again.” His stomach turned a little bit but he forced it down. He’d already gone down the grief-spiral-over-your-kind-of-boyfriend-disappearing-slash-maybe-dying route. He really didn’t want to do it again. But alas, nobody had seen any of the old Federation workers besides Cucurucho since they’d been moved to the new island. There were positives to that; no more Eye workers trying to kill eggs and no more Agent 18 tormenting everyone but Foolish. He still missed Fred though.

Fit laughed sympathetically and patted Tubbo’s shoulder.

Pac glanced at him, mischief in his eyes. “What? What’s that look for?”

“I mean…that wasn’t a no to polyamory, just a no to marrying Tommy. Are you? Polyamorous? Pac asked, glancing between Tubbo and Fit.

“I guess I’ve never really thought about it? Not seriously. Fred and I talked about it a little bit once I guess. I met Fred not too long after getting out of the ice prison though so…yeah I’ve never thought about it too much.”

“What did Fred say?” Pac asked, stepping a little closer. Tubbo backed up suspiciously. Fit watched them with interest, a humored smirk on his lips.

“‘Bout what?”

“When you talked. You said you talked to him about polyamory.”

“Oh. It wasn’t…it wasn’t really a talk exactly. He just said he wouldn’t mind it since he knows he’s not around too much.” Tubbo tilted his head slightly as he spoke, suspicion and confusion clouding his gaze.

“So you’re open to it?” Pac inquired further.

“Uh…like I said, I never seriously thought about it but…yeah! Fuck it! Gonna go get myself seven boyfriends right now! Two down, five to go!”

Pac and Fit both laughed. Tubbo startled, momentarily forgetting that Fit was still there. He’d been observing Tubbo and Pac’s conversation silently, intrigued by their discussion.

“How ‘bout you Fit? Now that you know it’s okay here.” Tubbo asked, attempting to pivot the conversation away from himself.

Fit held up his hands and laughed like he’d been accused of something. “I mean, I guess y’know…if it was the right person…I’d like it. It’s all about finding the right person! Polyamorous or not. Gotta find the right person.”

Fit and Pac exchanged looks, smiling. Tubbo could tell they were trying to communicate something to each other, but he couldn’t decipher what it was.

“Sounds like you got someone in mind there buddy . Care to share with the class?” he said teasingly, crossing his arms.

Fit chuckled, turning to face him. “You’re doing this on purpose, right? There’s no way you don’t know.”

“What?”

“Why do you think Pac’s been asking you so many questions about polyamory.”

“I don’t know! Maybe Pac’s got leagues of 2b2t veterans lined up waiting for his shot or some shit!”

Fit pinched the bridge of his nose, shaking his head in disbelief. Pac stepped forward, gently grasping Tubbo’s hands. “Tubbo…I’m curious because I was thinking about asking Fit how he would feel if I asked you to join us.”

“Join…you? Like…like dating?”

Tubbo blinked rapidly. Pac…in love with him? He didn’t understand it. Fit and Pac had always been so wrapped up in each other, even before they were dating. Everybody knew how they felt about each other. But he’d never picked up on this. His mind spun as he tried to work through Pac’s proposition, slowly realizing that he didn’t mind, no, liked the idea of dating Pac and Fit.

Fit laughed loudly. “Yes Tubbo, like dating.”

Tubbo spun his attention to Fit, flushing bright red. “You! What do you think about this? You didn’t even know you could do polyamory until five minutes ago!”

“I…have realized a lot of things about myself in the past five minutes,” Fit admitted, blush breaking through his usually stoic demeanor.

“I- you- what is happening?” Tubbo shouted, confusion overwhelming him. Pac giggled, leaned forward, and pressed his lips to Tubbo’s cheek.

Tubbo’s mind stopped completely. He could feel heat rushing to his cheeks as Pac moved from his cheek to his jaw, using the hand not grasping Tubbo’s to beckon Fit over. Fit indulged him, leaning down and kissing Tubbo’s other cheek, gently lacing his hand in his hair.

He let out a small squeak, earning him a laugh from Fit and Pac. He could feel their breath against his skin, warming him up even more. He pushed softly on their chests, moving them away as his mind started to spin again.

“So…you…you want to…date me?”

“It doesn’t have to be dating if you don’t want it to be. But yes. That’s what we're asking,” Pac confirmed, giving his hand a tight squeeze.

“And you’re both in on this?”

The two nodded, both eager to hear his response.

He thought for a moment, took a deep breath, and responded “I…yeah. Yeah. I think I’d like it to be dating.” He smiled, feeling like a weight had been lifted off his chest. How long had he been subconsciously longing for this?

Fit and Pac’s eyes lit up. Pac rushed forward and gathered the three of them into a hug, accidentally tripping them in the process. They fell to the ground, Tubbo uncomfortably pinned beneath Pac.

Pac giggled and kissed his cheek again.
