Chapter Text
Running away.
High-speed.
Daydreaming.
Viney didn't know when she was going to stop.
When she rides her motorcycle around the city, without any destiny in particular, the soft sound of the engine keeps her thoughts quiet, giving her a much needed little peace. The avenues, the same old houses, the people walking down the streets, those small details were enough to ignore the fact that she was running away. From what? She wasn’t sure, but the speed and her two wheels made her certain that she was not being chased.
She was used to the monotony of the city, and it was weird for her to drive around its streets instead of the large highways that were close to the beach. Probably the only exciting thing she could do was going to the almost forbidden University area, and she calls it like this because of some past claims of professors saying she and the sound of her motorcycle were a distraction. It is funny now that she thinks about it, how immensely boring this school became, that a girl on two wheels causes a paralysis between the students.
Now it looks like a great opportunity to challenge these rules one more time and drive to the principal avenue, no reason in specific, she only wants to, something inside her needs the adrenaline.
As long as she remembers, the Principal’s office, the Library, and the first campus section were located there. The magnificence of the buildings it's not what caught her eye, however. It is a yellow dress walking down the streets, worn by a girl with long, green hair combed in a single braid, holding some books between her arms and a purple backpack on her shoulder.
Her heart stopped, completely forgetting her main objective of causing troubles. She violently presses on the brake making the motorcycle do a 180 degree turn., then her hand powers up the engine so loudly, that she didn't care about the beeping of the cars behind her or the upset yelling of some old women behind. The uproar drew the attention of the green-haired girl who turned around to see the scandal.
Viney's heart started beating again. She stops at her side, and the girl that caused such a commotion in the motorcyclist looks around searching if there's anyone else, looking visibly confused for the unexpected attention.Viney then took off the glass protection of the helmet to see her directly.
"Hey." It is the only thing Viney can say before her tongue starts trembling. The other doesn't respond, and now takes the whole helmet off, with more confidence. "Want a ride?"
She thinks she might look intimidating, and how she wouldn’t, she is wearing the leather black vest riddled with studs riding a huge Harley Davidson —and now that she remembers she was on her way to return it to Willow—, so she smiles. The truth was that Viney was feeling immensely anxious for this. She never approached a stranger before, and much less such a pretty girl. The sound of the engineer is smooth and soft and the clean vehicle gives her some confidence, the sun shines and reflects in that beautiful black paint work, so at least, she looked pretty outstanding.
Meanwhile, the other girl is speechless, her eyes wide open. There's a small blush on her cheeks that Viney thought was cute. More seconds passed without anyone saying a word, and inevitably the girl she approached took a step back. "No." She said, still looking confused, walking away and at a quick pace.
Viney is not bothered. The girl slightly turned her head to see her again. Viney smiles in excitement, making her motorcycle sound one more time and leaving. “There’s always a next time!” She shouts, and through her side mirror she can see the girl has stopped, staring at her in disbelief.
She will not run away. Not this time.
