Summary:

Kara is young yet destined to outlive everyone she will ever know and love while under the radiation of a yellow sun. She's still new to the world but already loves people so deeply that she knows that when the time comes for her to outlive the world, it will be like Krypton all over again.

Alex is trapped in med school while Eliza and Kara flee to Forks, Washington, to escape the heavy burden of Jeremiah Danvers' death back in National City. What Kara doesn't expect is to meet a strange, enigmatic woman who's reluctant to be friends with Kara yet can't seem to stay away.

A woman, that Kara learns later on, will be the only solace to an eternity of life, the only balm to the cruel DNA of her alien biology, the salvation to the end of her world.

Hi! I just wanted to address a couple of things before we dive on in!

First, the fic will heavily follow Twilight for a while until we finally get into the changes. There will be minor changes of course, considering our main character is a super-powered being, but it’ll really start to change more towards the reveal as well as moving forward to the second fic in the series.

Second, many of you may not like this fic because Kara may seem out of character from what you’re use to. However, Kara is only 17 in the beginning and is still heavily grieving her world. She’s not going to be the bubbly sunshine space puppy we all know and love for a long while. She is still a traumatized young refugee on an alien planet with strange powers she can’t totally control, and I’m not going to write it as anything less and undermine show cannon trauma that she has endured.

Third, this fic isn’t just a silly Twilight AU, but rather, it is a silly Twilight AU fic intertwined with grief and acceptance of both your past, yourself, and others.

Fourth, I refused to replace the tribe with some white characters from Supergirl, so I went a different route (that I can’t say without spoilers). I sincerely hope it doesn’t offend anyone, but if it does, please reach out, and I will do my best to rewrite it!

Lastly, many of these things won't become apparent until the second, third, and fourth installments, but it all builds up, I swear!

Chapter 1: Preface

Kara had given exceptional thought to how she might die—at least, when she was stuck in her pod after the destruction of Krypton—but even then, she wouldn’t have imagined the life she was thrown into now. She wouldn’t die now, that she knew without doubt. However, the creature in front of her didn’t know that.

She stared without breathing across the long room, into the dark eyes of the hunter, and he looked back at her pleasantly.

She was pretending to be human, scared. But she was doing it for someone she loved, and even if she had lied to get here, that had to count for something.

She knew that if she had never ended up in Forks, she wouldn’t be facing this monster now. But, even as the threat of heat vision burned behind her eyes, trying to claw its way up the surface in a desperate attempt to protect those she loves, she couldn’t bring herself to regret the decision. When life offers you a dream so far beyond any of your expectations, it’s not reasonable to grieve when it’s threatened. Instead, you fight back.

The hunter smiled in a friendly way as he sauntered forward to kill Kara.
