Chapter Text
Harry Potter, now age 8, wakes up one day and squints as he notices something odd on the floor of his cupboard. A blackened stone that seems to emit a miasma that hovers around it. Harry feels the urge to touch it, so he does.
Gold sparks fly from his hand and into the crystal as soon as his hand gets close, and with a loud, pained, scream, the light enters the crystal and flashes. A wave of light washes through Harry and he feels as if something got burned within him as well, but the sensation is pleasant. Freeing.
Quest Created: They Had Their Chance
The Dursleys have abused and mistreated you for years. You’d survive better alone than in their ‘home.’
Objectives:
Grab the Ward Stone
Leave the Dursley house and get far enough away that nobody will recognize you.
Harry lets out a breath as he finishes reading the gold pane of… something, that appeared in front of him. He closes it, unsure how he knows what mental muscle to flex to close it, but the idea of getting out of the Dursley home being too distracting for him to dwell on that for long.
He grabs the crystal, which now glows gold, and opens his cupboard door. They hadn’t locked him in, having, as always, expected him to be too injured to move at night.
They were, as always, wrong.
Harry moves to the backdoor- it opens most quietly of all the doors in the house- and enters the back yard, where he hops the back fence after a brief struggle. Luckily their house doesn’t connect to another neighbor, so as soon as he’s over the fence, he’s out of ‘the neighborhood’.
Still, Harry takes off in a run, putting the crystal in his bag- wait, when did that get there- and starts legging it.
As soon as Harry’s a good distance into the woods, he feels something in his chest twinge, and a notification appears briefly.
Grab the Ward Stone
Leave the Dursley house and get far enough away that nobody will recognize you.
Stay still, take a deep breath.
Harry does as asked, and marvels as gold light swirls around him. Suddenly he’s standing in a forest. Thick trees surrounding him with no real path out.
Stay still, take a deep breath.
Place the Ward Stone on the ground.
Harry finds a small place where there feels like there’s enough room, and places the stone on the ground. When he backs up, the ground and grass seems to morph, becoming stone.
Place the Ward Stone on the ground.
Watch.
Harry does so. Watching as gold particles from the air seem to fly straight into the ward stone, starting slowly, then getting faster and faster until eventually the stone seems to thump with power, sending out a wave of gold light that extends far past where Harry can see in the dense forest.
And Harry takes a deep breath as he feels the space establish itself. It feels comfortable. Warm. Inviting. All the words he can describe and more.
It’s home.
He takes a deep breath, then smiles a little.
Watch.
Clear the marked area.
Harry blinks as when he looks away from the screen, there’s a small area marked by a red cube sat directly behind the ward stone.
Still, Harry does as asked, reaching into his bag, (He’ll think about where it came from and how he knows what all’s in there later-) he pulls out a woodcutter’s axe.
He takes a swing at the tree, and stares at his new tool when it completely tears the thing down in a single swing. Before it can fall over, it flashes gold and disappears.
Tree added to inventory.
“Yeah, the tree, the stump, the roots, all of it…” Harry mutters, eyes wide as he looks at the hole where the roots were.
Without much more thought than that, Harry continues, clearing the trees away until all that’s left is a boulder. Harry pulls a pickaxe from his bag and swings the pointy bit at the big rock. With a satisfying shunk, the point sinks into the boulder, and Harry feels something leave his body before the whole boulder just falls apart into rocks.
Rocks added to inventory.
Harry hefts the pickaxe before putting it back in his bag. He then leaves the marked area, an instinct at the back of his mind telling him that it’s necessary.
He blinks as things begin flying out of his bag, golden light surrounding the items. Stones create a paved stone pathway, which becomes a short staircase before wood gets taken out of the bag in perfect beams and planks and starts forming a very cozy looking house.
When everything seems to settle, Harry stares for a while.
Clear the marked area.
Enter your new home.
Harry once again does as asked and breathes out a giggle to himself when he shuts the door.
That nobody shouts at him even as he stands in the doorway for a long while, is possibly more freeing than not seeing the Dursleys anywhere.

[Teleport Home]
‘Quests allows me to review my objectives and such.’
‘Library is just that. A large collection of books stored inside the panes. Able to be read either through the panes or by making a physical book appear.’
‘Teleport Home can be activated without using the panes and allows me to teleport to the Ward Stone. Bashing through any barrier between me and it.’
Harry nods to himself and decides not to open any of the panes yet, opting instead to go to the bedroom (There’s no bed yet, but the floor is far more comfortable than the cot) and pass out for a bit.

The Well
Objectives:
Clear The Area
Harry had decided to get the ‘Refining the Land’ stuff done before anything else. He cuts down a tree and digs a hole down to the point where his feet get drenched before climbing out, sweating and cursing the day, he rolls out of the well’s zone.
He watches as the materials fly out of his bag, quickly creating a neat, if unrefined looking well. Bucket and all.

The Well
You have water now!
Rewards:
Quest Added: Upgrading the Well
Basic Watering Can added to inventory
Basic Water Flask added to inventory
‘Well that’d be easy if I already had the Mine unlocked, but… Anyway,’ Harry gets off the ground with a groan and reaches into his bag, pulling out the water flask and filling it by simply dipping it into the water that had already reached near the top of the well. He chugs quite a bit of it, then refills it again before putting it back in his bag. The bucket was for if he needed to have a lot of water anyhow.
After drinking the water, he feels much stronger and starts on another quest.
The Garden
Objectives:
Clear the area
Harry blinks at the massive space he has to clear, and with a huff, he hefts his axe and gets to cutting.
After clearing away the trees he actually finds a few plants that an axe would be very inefficient in cutting down. He reaches into his bag and pulls out a scythe. He hooks it around the base of the bush, and with a sharp tug, the bush flashes gold and is put in Harry’s inventory.
Blackberry Bush added to inventory.
‘Good thing I didn’t try to use the axe.’ Harry thinks with a grimace. He’s dealt with blackberry thorns before. After that, he takes a break to drink some water.
Strangely, every time he takes a sip of his water he feels as though he’s entirely replenished, despite knowing that his body is lacking the calories to actually function at this point. Still, not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, he clears the Garden’s area and watches as a farm plot gets made before his eyes. Incomplete because despite how deep he dug that well, he didn’t actually have enough dirt to refill all the holes made by taking the trees out.
He snorts at the idea of this being called a garden. ‘Aunt Petunia would have an aneurysm if I did something like this to her backyard.’
He moves on, shunting the imagined timeline where he did this to the back of his mind as it starts getting traumatizing. He decides to just do all of the clearing objectives.
The Pen is large as well, thus clearing it takes just as long as with the garden, and when he’s finished he just has a fenced in yard with lots of tree holes and a large barn off to the side.
‘I’m lucky I need to take out so many trees, the wood cost of these projects is absurd…’
After the pen, Harry moves on to the mine, which actually requires he dig out a flat path to the edge of the wards.
Harry loses himself in the work, barely noticing that the dug-up dirt flies immediately from the shovel back to the garden, where it fills in the tree holes.
It’s night by the time he finishes digging. He goes back to his house and to bed (A section of floor that feels just slightly softer than the rest), using an instinct to tell the panes to show up when he wakes up tomorrow.
The next day, he ends up realizing that he’d completed three objectives.

“… What the Heck.” He mutters.
