Chapter Text
Part of Izuku had thought he would never return to the Castle where he had grown up.
After leaving for his studies as a boy, he had only ever heard from his mother. He had no other family, or friends - after what happened - to contact him. No reason to return. And yet here he was, 21 and returning back to the first home he had ever had, rushing up the old stone steps to fling himself in his mother's arms.
"Izuku!" Inko cried out as he held her, tears already wetting his shirt, "Oh my son, I missed you so!"
Izuku could feel his own tears rising up, still unable to hold back even after years of growing. He had missed his mother dearly.
When Izuku pulled back from their embrace, his eyes caught sight of Queen Mitsuki and Prince Consort Masaru a few steps behind. They both smiled warmly at him, coming forward to pat him on the back kindly. Izuku had known the royal couple since he was a baby, having grown up with their son - so much so that their dragon features didn't bother him even as their sharper nails caught at his clothes just like they had when he was a child.
"You didn't have to come to meet me, I know you're both busy running a kingdom" Izuku told them, trying to wipe the tears still spilling from his eyes.
"Don't be silly Izuku, you're like a son to us, of course we'd come," Masaru told him kindly, Mitsuki nodding along in agreement, "You're welcome here as long as you like."
Izuku thanked them both, glad to have somewhere to stay while he figured out the next phase of his life. His studies meant he could easily find work nearly anywhere, and part of him wanted to ask if there was a position he could take at the Castle. But that meant he could possibly run in to...well. The castle was big, and the chances were slim. He could figure things out and not have to worry about running into Kacchan.
Katsuki had intended to be out most of the day, feeling that itch under his skin that told him his dragon needed to be set free for a while. He'd left early that morning and seeing as it was barely lunch time, Katsuki still had a lot of daylight to be flying around the clouds, no destination in mind.
The second a gust of wind fills his lungs though, his whole body lights up, his alpha shoving forward and grasping at the faint trace of something familiar. He has no idea who it is but Katsuki is following the scent all the same.
It's so faint that Katsuki can't even pinpoint what exactly the smell is, all he knows is that despite all fucking logic, he's following it.
His large wings push him back to the castle, flying much swifter than when he'd left. The castle comes into view, the large courtyard dotted with a few people.
He knows he's not suppose to land there, his mother will chew his ass out for it, saying that his dragon is too big for the space, but all the only thing Katsuki can think right now is that the smell is coming from the courtyard, so he dives down, a curious rumble brewing in his chest.
When he's right above the castle, his wings spread out and he tries to land as gracefully as he can in the small space, his wings flapping and causing gusts of wind to kick up.
There's shouting, Katsuki distantly notes but he can't process the words as his eyes land on him.. Izuku..
And.. Katsuki leans forward, his snout almost touching Izuku as he sniffs.
The smell is coming from him.
Izuku doesn't realise what's happening until there is shouting from around them, and sudden intense blasts of air. Mitsuki is shouting something he can't hear about the wind, and Inko is staring at the air above them when Izuku is nearly knocked from his feet from something big landing behind him.
He doesn't get a chance to turn around before something gets close, and...sniffs him?
Izuku turns slowly, his arm knocking into something hot and slightly wet, gasping when he finally realises what has landed behind him.
It's a dragon. Huge and imposing, black and orange scales near glowing in the midday sun, snout so close to Izuku that he can smell the heat that rumbles from the dragon's core.
It's beautiful.
Even as a child Izuku had never seen a full shift, and now he's up close he wants to touch. Something inside of him says he has to, so before he even has the thought to stop himself he raises a hand and presses it to the dragon's snout, gently running it back and forth over the scales.
Until Mitsuki appears at his side, angry look on her face.
"Katsuki! You know you aren't meant to land here! What are you doing?"
Katsuki. The dragon is Katsuki.
Izuku jumped back, moving until he was standing back with his mother, his cheeks blazing hot from embarassment.
So much for not seeing him.
Katsuki almost lets out a deep rumble as Izuku pets his snout, only to growl a bit when his mother angrily bursts forward.
He barely registers the shift, eyes darting back to Izuku, now eye level with him as Katsuki is back in his regular form, tail swishing behind him, his alpha shoving forward, bringing out the yellow glow to his eyes when his alpha chants, "Omega," in his head.
Katsuki knows that's wrong because Izuku is human.. and yet.. that fucking smell.
"Izuku.." Katsuki's alpha speaks, taking a step forward, or rather, his alpha pushes him forward.
Izuku stands his ground as Katsuki gets close to his space, confused as the Prince's eyes glow. He remembered bits and pieces of information about dragon hybrids from his schooling as a young boy in the Castle, but nothing about glow that seemed to draw Izuku in. It was like something in him wanted to step forward and meet Katsuki, but not in greeting, almost like...something else. Something he didn't understand.
"K-kacchan."
The old nickname tumbles out by accident, still more familiar to Izuku's tongue than Katsuki
"It's...good to see you again."
Before Katsuki can stop it, a rumble rolls in his chest.
Katsuki's never had to fight for control with his alpha like this outside of his ruts, his eyes still glowing as he clenches his fists to keep from reaching out.
"What.. what are you doing here?" and are you staying?
Izuku isn't sure if the rumble from Katsuki is a good thing or a bad thing. No one steps forward to stop him from attacking Izuku so...good? Izuku isn't really focused on anyone else, so someone could have tried to intervene but he doesn't see it.
All he sees is Katsuki.
"Uh well, my studies are finished so...I wanted to come back home," Izuku says, feeling shy all of a sudden, "I'll have to find a job which will probably take me away from here again but...I'll be here for a little while."
"You can work here," the words are out of Katsuki's mouth before he can even fully process them.
God why is he so duxking desperate for Izuku to stay? Yeah he missed the nerd but this feeling..
"The library needs someone to run it," Katsuki says it, shoving away his alpha who thinks of the proposal like he's giving a hoard of books to him.
"The library?"
It's a bit of whiplash from suddenly seeing Katsuki again to having him offer Izuku a job , especially when he'd only just arrived back home and should really look and see what else is out there for him -
"I'll do it," Izuku says before he realises what he's done, "Uh. If it's okay with your parents."
From behind, Izuku can hear Masaru's soft chuckle and Mitsuki's annoyed huff (but he's pretty sure that's for Katsuki, and not for him.)
"Of course, Izuku, we were planning on offering it to you before my son butted in," Mitsuki tells him, "You know, after you had settled in, not in the courtyard of the castle when you've been here two minutes."
Izuku can feel the glare she is directing at Katsuki, but it kind of makes him want to laugh. Inko steps foward again, taking Izuku's arm and looking at him with tear-filled eyes.
"Oh Izuku, I'm so glad you'll be staying!" She turns to Katsuki, giving him a curtsey, "Thank you, your Highness."
Katsuki wants to gripe back at his mother but honestly he has no idea what that fuck just came over him.
Katsuki clears his throat, his eyes finally returning to normal. "You're welcome, Lady Midoriya. Izuku, it was nice to see you again, excuse me," he bows his head slightly, though he doesn't fucking know why he bothers with formality when he tossed it out the window when he landed in the courtyard as a full fucking dragon.
He makes his exit, his mind racing trying to figure out what exactly just happened. Underneath the panic though is a single thought..
Izuku is back..
Izuku almost follows Katsuki, but his mother's arm clutching onto him stops Izuku short.
What the heck am I doing , he thinks to himself, clearing his throat awkwardly as Inko gave him a look.
"Well, if you'll be taking on our librarian role, there will be a room near the library we will organise for you," Mitsuki says after a moment, gesturing for Inko and Izuku to follow her in the same direction as Katsuki disappeared, "But that will take a day, so for now you will need to stay with Inko."
"That's fine," Izuku tells her, "And I'm happy to help with the room as well."
"Nosense, you're a guest."
"Well...I'm technically staff now, right?"
Mitsuki stops her walk, turning back to Izuku to grin.
"That's true. Well, I'll have some of the other servants meet you there tomorrow morning."
From Mitsuki's side, Masaru hums thoughtfully.
"We actually have a ball planned for tomorrow - Katsuki is of age, and we're looking for a future mate for him. You're welcome to come along as well, Izuku."
Izuku feels his heart speed up in his chest, a flare of anger welling up. They were looking for someone else for Katsuki? That wasn't fair when - when what? The anger passed as quickly as it came, leaving Izuku confused about why the thought of Katsuki finding a mate upset him so.
"Uh, sure, that sounds fun?" Izuku says, "Though I don't think my dancing skills are up to par."
"Neither are Katsuki's," Mitsuki mumbles under her breath, Izuku laughing along as he's pulled deeper in to the castle.
Katsuki strides to his quarters and shuts the doors, pacing back and forth trying to figure out why the hell he'd reacted like that to Izuku, almost like..
No, Izuku isn't an omega. He isnt even a fucking dragon.
Katsuki's alpha is clearly defective.
Omega.. his alpha whines.
"No," Katsuki growls back. Theres no way.. no matter how much Katsuki might want.. no. He's going to the ball tomorrow and finding a mate.
And then his alpha is growling at the idea of any omega that isnt Izuku.
Katsuki groans, throwing himself back onto his bed. "Fuck.."
Izuku gets himself settled into Inko's quarters, back in his childhood bedroom for a night. The room is tinier than he remembers, but he was also bigger than the last time he was there. There were still pictures he and Katsuki had drawn as kids on the walls, and his old toys in the corner - it makes his heart squeeze in his chest from the nostalgia. And the sadness.
He could still remember when Inko had broken the news to him that Katsuki couldn't play with him anymore, because he had to start his training to be a Prince and Izuku couldn't join. He had cried so hard he was sick, and then tried to sneak out to see Katsuki and been caught by one of the palace guards.
The memories made him sad, so Izuku decided on a walk. The was later in the afternoon now, the sun starting to sink down below the mountains, but Izuku was happy to wander around the gardens. He could still remember where he and Katsuki used to hide from their Nanny and Mitsuki, giggling to each other in the bushes. If Katsuki was still in the same room, Izuku could look up at the balcony there and see the light flickering within. Part of him thought about calling out, but the rest of him decided against it and went back inside.
Why am I so desperate to be around him...
Katsuki is restless and he finally takes a walk, his dragon distantly wines at having their flight cut short, but Katsuki cant go flying right now so he settles for wandering, not even realizing where he's going until he reaches the place he and Izuku use to hide and play as kids.. before Katsuki was shoved into prince training and Katsuki had thrown the biggest tantrum of his life.
"No, I wanna see Zuku!" Young Katsuki screamed, his wings flapping angrily, tears streaming down his face.
Katsuki is ripped from the memory when he realizes Izuku is already in the gardens, smelling him before seeing him.
"Izuku.."
Izuku is heading inside when he thinks he hears his name, perking up and looking around. Back where he had just stood he finds Katsuki, looking at him like he had early, though without the glowing eyes.
“Kacchan! What are you doing out here?” Izuku asked, walking back to join him near the bushes. “Do you remember when we used to hide here too?”
Izuku smiles sadly, memories going back to when they were taken apart. Oddly, the longer he thinks about how sad he was, the more his neck starts to itch on either side. He scratches at it absentmindedly, wondering if he picked up anything while travelling.
“Mitsuki told me about your ball tomorrow…you must be excited, huh?”
Katsuki sighs, at the mention of the ball. "Yeah, can't wait," his voice has a slight growl to it that he isn't able to fully suppress. The urge to scent Izuku pulses in him so he looks down at the bush. Katsuki's never wanted to scent anyone in his life, apart from his parents. Why was Izuku getting to his alpha like this?
Katsuki remembers coming back here after Izuku left and laying under the bush, his alpha whining and stinking of distress.
The only thing that keeps him from leaking a distressed scent now is the death grip he has on his instincts.
"Are you coming? To the ball?" Katsuki asks, trying to sound casual.
"Oh, uh, yeah, I am," Izuku tells Katsuki, keeping his eyes on the bushes in front of them, "I can't really dance though, and I'm sure no one will be interested in talking to me when you're there, so..."
It was probably a silly idea for Izuku to even turn up to the ball, invitation from the Prince-Consort or not. But some part deep inside of him wanted to be there to see if Katsuki picked someone so who knew who he would have to -
Izuku shook his head. Have to what? Where had that thought even come from?
"I've been eating rations on the road for a week, so at least the food will be a nice change," Izuku jokes.
The mention of Izuku wanting more food is like a calling card for is alpha, who suddenly chimes in with, 'provide for omega' .
And Katsuki can't help but say, "Are you hungry? I can get you something,". God damn it, Katsuki, fucking control yourself.
Izuku goes to say no, it's fine, Katsuki doesn't have to go out of his way -
And then his stomach grumbles. Loudly.
"Uh...sure. That would be nice," Izuku tells him, embarassed, "I was going to sneak down to the kitchens anyway so..."
A smirk appears on his face, and Katsuki's alpha feels too fucking pleased, his shoulders straightening slightly as he grabs Izuku's hand and leads him towards the kitchen. He can't help it, even if he doesn't know why his alpha is acting like this.
"Come on, I'll make something for you,".
Izuku lets himself be pulled along by Katsuki, trying really really hard to not think about how it nice it feels to hold hands with him.
He's just taking you to the kitchen, chill! Izuku tells himself, hoping his palm isn't sweaty and his grip isn't weird.
The kitchen themselves are warm as they always are, and relatively quiet for the time of day. Izuku thankfully doesn't see his Mother, and his brain finally kicks back in to Katsuki's early words.
"You're going to make me something? Do you cook?"
No one has ever said Katsuki is humble. Katsuki's fucking knows he's a cocky ass alpha so when Izuku asks if he cooks, Katsuki can't help but let out his alpha scent a bit, smirking as he pulls out some supplies.
"'Course, it was part of my training believe it or not," Katsuki starts setting out the ingredients for what he hopes is still Izuku's favorite dish. "A good alpha prince knows how to provide for himself and his mate," Katsuki immediatly chastizes himself after he says it, knowing how much that sounded like he was flirting. Like he's trying to show Izuku he's a good alpha that can provide.
Izuku takes a seat on the other side of the table, nose picking up a smell that isn't can't really place. It isn't the usual kitchen smell, or any of the food Katsuki brings out but it's...nice.
"A good alpha prince knows how to provide for himself and his mate."
Izuku perks up for a moment, and then slumps again. Of course Katsuki would learn to cook for the mate he would be meeting the next night. Whoever it was would be spoiled and loved beyond compare. The thought made Izuku sad...but maybe he could still get Katsuki to cook for him sometimes too?
"What else did you learn? Uh, for your future mate," Izuku finds himself asking, trying to not blush.
He shouldn't.. his mom would be furious if she saw Katsuki basically fucking courting Izuku right now.
He does anyway.
Katsuki smirks, "Well a good mate provides things other than food. Like soft things for the nest, or presents for their hoard,". As he mentions hoards, Katsuki remembers how he'd basically given Izuku, who loves books, a whole ass library.
A hoard ...Izuku thinks, mind flashing to the new library Katsuki had basically gifted him, knowing how much he loved books.
Katsuki is not courting you, stop it , he tells himself sternly.
"It must be nice, knowing how to make your future mate happy," Izuku says, "Wish it was as easy for us humans."
The word 'human' rings in Katsuki's ears and he stops chopping for a second. It shouldn't bother him as much as it does but the thought that Katsuki can't court Izuku, no matter how much his alpha clearly wants to, makes Katsuki almost defensive and.. sad?
Katsuki clears his throat and continues chopping. "I don't see why it can't be. I could cook and provide for a human just as well as an omega,".
Fucking hell Katsuki, why did you say that??
"That's true, but I - I mean, a human couldn't give you an heir. At least not a male one! Not saying you're into men or anything! It's fine if you are though! Hahahaha...anyway it doesn't matter because you'll find another hybrid tomorrow for sure!"
Izuku wants to bang his head on the table. Why was he going to say that he couldn't provide an heir for Katsuki? He meant humans. Humans in general. H u m a n s. God, why was he such a mess?
Izuku is technically right. Iz- a male human can't give Katsuki an heir. And even if the urge to scoff that doesn't matter is right there on the tip of his tongue he knows it fucking does. He's the crown prince. He'll be king and he needs an heir.
"Yeah.." Katsuki says, unable to help how dejected it sounds. Katsuki should stop this. He can claim it's just cooking Izuku dinner but he knows there's more to it. His alpha is making this for Izuku. Because his alpha wants to court Izuku. And he fucking can't.
So why can't he leave?
The meat sizzles as he starts to cook it.
The smell of the cooking meat makes Izuku's stomach grumble again. He can't help but feel like he's upset Katsuki somehow, and he desperately wants to fix it. But how? He isn't even sure what he's done.
"So..." Izuku desperately tries to come up with a new conversation, something not related to courting or mating, "How long have you been able to fully transform into a dragon? I remember as a kid we were always taught it was super rare. Kacchan is amazing though so I'm not surprised you're able to."
The mention of his dragon brings a smile back to Katsuki's face. "Happened two years ago. Didn't even mean to transform, actually," Katsuki laughs at the memory. "I was sparring with Kirishima and we always talk shit to each other when we fight, but when he called my alpha weak, well my alpha didn't take to well to that. I've always been to cocky for my own good,".
Katsuki cooks as he tells the story of his first transformation, desperately trying not to look over and see if Izuku looks impressed or not.
"Kirishima about shit himself when I transformed. Nearly damaged the whole fucking arena since I was standing next to a pillar,".
Izuku smiles as Katsuki tells the story, almost able to see it in his minds eye. When he had seen Katsuki's dragon form early he had only felt...awe. He could see why it would be terrifying if it wasn't expected though.
As Katsuki talks, he continues to cook, and Izuku is impressed. He grew up with a cook, he knows what the proper techniques look like - and Katsuki has mastered all of them, looking as natural in the kitchen as he did walking around the Castle as a Prince.
"Are you making...Katsudon?" Izuku asks, unable to keep the excitement out of his voice, "I haven't had it in so long, they were more about heavy vegetable dishes when I was studying. It looks so good!"
Katsuki smirks. "Course I'm making you katsudon, it's your favorite,".
Katsuki finally finishes cooking and prepares a bowl of food for each of them before handing one to Izuku, trying to beam with pride at how impressed Izuku looks.
"You remembered."
Izuku allows himself to smile at Katsuki for a few seconds, before looking down to his food with a gasp. Not that he would ever say so to her, but it looked even better than the katsudon she used to make him as a kid. Izuku's stomach grumbled again, and before Katsuki had even sat himself down, Izuku had grabbed a fork and started to chow down.
"So'ry K'chan," He got out from around his food, smiling with chubby cheeks, "I'm st'rving!"
A pleased alpha scent fills the kitchen and Katsuki is too fucking happy to see Izuku eating his food to care.
"Don't apologize, I'm glad you like it," Katsuki smiles, probably too fondly. "And of course I remembered. I wouldn't forget your favorite food," Katsuki almost goes on to say that he also remembers other little details about Izuku, but stops himself.
He'd always been told that he's too attached to Izuku, and he never understood why until now.
That smell comes back, and it curls around Izuku and makes him feel like he's getting a warm hug. Along with the food, and the knowledge that Katsuki had been thinking about him all these years...
It makes Izuku start to tear up.
"I promise I'm not sad!" Izuku gets out as soon as he realises, wiping his eyes desperately on his shirt, "I'm just...really happy you remembered me."
Even if you're about to be taken from me again by whoever becomes your mate.
Katsuki's not sure why he says what he says next, whether it's the fact that Katsuki can't stand the fact that Izuku might have thought that Katsuki would forget about him or the fact that Katsuki never got to say goodbye before he left.
"I threw a tantrum the day you left ya know. Not like, I cried or threw a fit, I mean like I screamed at my mother because I was pissed," Katsuki leans against the counter, poking his fork at his food. "Demanded that she bring you back to me. It think it's the worst I've ever spoken to her," Katsuki regrets the things he said that day. Though he doesn't regret saying that he should have gotten to say goodbye.
Izuku blinks through more tears at Katsuki's words, slightly stunned. Once Katsuki's studies had started, they were kept away from each other - whether anyone actually realised the depth of their friendship and how bad it would be for them both, Izuku wasn't sure. But all he heard from the Noble kids was that Katsuki hadn't even noticed Izuku was gone.
But Katsuki had demanded they bring Izuku back to him. And Izuku knew he was telling the truth, could feel it in his bones.
"The day I left, the noble kids at the gate told me you wouldn't care," Izuku admitted softly, still sniffling, "I don't know why they were so mean but...they said you hadn't even asked about me after they separated us. Mum told them off and told me she was sorry we couldn't be together and that I had to leave but well..."
Izuku poked at his own food, wiping away a few more tears.
"I've missed you. A lot," Izuku whispered.
Katsuki sets his bowl down, walks the few steps between them and pulls Izuku's out of his hands, setting it aside before pulling Izuku into his arms.
"God I fucking missed you," Katsuki whispers, his face buried in Izuku's hair. His wings encase them, now large enough to overlap around Izuku's back. Katsuki isn't thinking about how he shouldn't be holding Izuku like this. Only that he's finally taking back a moment that was long denied of him.
Izuku clings to Katsuki, pressing his face in to his chest and breathing deep. Oh, the smell was coming from Katsuki - smokey and spicy, with a sweet hint of cinnamon. Izuku wanted to roll around in it, but being surrounded by it and Katsuki's wings was enough for now.
"Remember when we were little and your wings couldn't even reach my shoulders?" Izuku couldn't help but giggle, the warmth of Katsuki's hug bringing back memories, "You've gotten so big."
And so firm . Izuku had barely thought about how nice Katsuki's chest was before he realised just how close they were and the things he could feel...god, he'd been back barely a handful of hours and he was already objectifying his friend .
Stop it, Izuku told himself sternly, leaning back in to the hug and just trying to enjoy it.
Katsuki huffs a laugh. "Yeah I remember how much it pissed me off. I swore that one day I'd be able to give you a proper wing hug.." And now he is. Katsuki squeezes Izuku a bit tighter, inhaling deeply, almost swearing that he can smell a faint trace of an omega scent on Izuku, like mint and apples..
"You smell good," Katsuki says with a hint of a rumble.
"So do you," Izuku sighs happily, and then squeaks.
"Are you sure I don't just smell like travel? I haven't had a chance to bath yet..." Izuku finds himself suddenly self conscious, wondering if Katsuki is just getting a big old whiff of BO.
But then why would he say it's nice?
Part of Izuku thinks he should pull back now, let Katsuki get back to his food but...the rumble of his voice against Izuku's chest is nice. Real nice. He would have to use his new position in the library to pull up all the books about dragon hybrids and what the different sounds meant. It was totally normal to want to know everything about your friend like that, right?
"Mm, no you smell like mint and apples. It's faint but it's there.." Katsuki nuzzles his nose deeper into Izuku's hair, thinking at first that it must be Izuku's shampoo but.. no.. he starts nuzzling further down before he realizes with a start what he's doing and he pulls away abruptly.
"Uh.." Katsuki clears his throat. "Sorry,".
Izuku can feel his cheeks and the tips of his ears heat up from Katsuki movements, wishing he hadn't stopped -
Stop being creepy about your friend!
"It's fine," Izuku tells him, looking up at Katsuki to give him a smile. "Should we uh, finish our food? I don't want your hard work to go to waste."
Izuku also didn't want Katsuki to let him go from the cocoon of his wings, but who knew what rumours would fly if anyone caught them. Izuku wanted Katsuki to at least be able to go to his ball without having to worry about something like that over his head.
Katsuki nods and goes back to his food. "Yeah, we should finish and then you're probably tired from travel," Katsuki says, half because it's late and Izuku does need sleep, and half because he knows he nearly just crossed a line.
As if by command, Izuku yawns as he goes to take another bite of food.
"Yeah, a little," he admits shyly, "Plus, tomorrow I'm going to be setting up my new quarters near the library. It's not a huge room but it will be nice to have my own space."
Not that Izuku didn't love his mother, but he was old enough to want to not live with her anymore.
Finishing his food, Izuku waits until Katsuki is finished as well and takes them to clean up, the motion familiar from his youth doing the same thing. He still doesn't want to leave yet, but knows he should so he can be ready for the next day.
"Would you...walk me back to my mother's quarters?" Izuku asked, feeling a bit shy.
Katsuki smiles softly, hating himself a bit for how happy his alpha is, looking at Izuku full from the food he made and sleepy.
"Course," Katsuki holds out an arm for Izuku to take.
Izuku takes Katsuki's arm happily, breathing in the cinnamon scent from him again. Had it gotten stronger? Izuku wasn't sure - maybe it wasn't Katsuki, maybe his mother had gotten a new shipment of cinnamon in.
Thankfully the walk through the corridors is quiet, and all too soon they're back at the door to Izuku's Mother's rooms.
"Thank you for dinner, Kacchan," Izuku says genuinely, not wanting to drop his arm yet, "I guess I'll see you tomorrow? At the Ball? I'm sure you'll have a lot to do during the day."
Katsuki places a hand on top of Izuku's, his thumb caressing back and forth as he smiles down at Izuku. "You're welcome, I'm glad you liked it." He almost offers to do it again but knows he can't. "Unfortunately yes, my mother has a line of tasks for me before the ball tomorrow."
And because Katsuki wants to allow himself this one thing, something easily excused as being proper, he lifts Izuku's hand and kisses it. "Goodnight Izuku, sleep well,".
Izuku thinks he says something in reply, but the heat of Katsuki's lips on his hand turns his brain off and the next thing he knows he's back in his room, heart pounding like a drum.
He kissed...my hand , Izuku thought giddly, then shook his head. Just my hand! Like he would for anyone! Get it together!
With a sigh, Izuku quickly got ready for bed and drifted off to sleep, the warm scent of cinnamon and spice still clinging to him slightly making him smile.
