Chapter Text
"Wait, but how did you manage to-"
"I used a combination of minimized ancient screws, placing them next to each other as cogs!"
"Wait, you can do that?"
The feminine voices were all that could be heard resonating down the halls of Hyrule castle, a young timid princess and a red-glassed woman chatting amongst themselves in excited murmurs, discussing a recent invention between the two of them.
"Hylia, this might change the road of calamity the great fall intends on going down as we know it..."
The princess of Hyrule, Princess Zelda, speaks with urgency tainting her voice, a faint glow in her crystal blue eyes from the sliver of hope caused by the possibility of the spectacle working.
The topic the pair were bustling about was an invention Purah had been experimenting with. Its purpose was to help predict and prevent the calamity, the trinket being made up of a mix of ancient scraps she had found around ancient guardian excavation sites the other Sheika have been recently studying. It's almost like a watch, a pocket watch, the beige stone smoothly ground down to protect it in a way that makes it look practical yet aesthetically pleasing, the stone not being too much beige and in result avoiding morphing into an eye sore. A small green emerald is embedded in the heart of it, flashing the thumping heartbeat of glowing light against the rays of sun that slip through the many stained glass windows decorating the halls of the vast castle, swaying back and forth gently, the object itself attached to a golden chain with an emerald weight in the shape of a teardrop at the end. There's an opening compartment at the center of the watch-looking contraption, it opening to reveal many cogs and screws ticking and tacking in rhythm, pushing it to continue its intended purpose, a rotary combo lock embedded between all of it with a small, metal button at its middle, almost begging in sly whispers to be pressed.
The two of them reach Zelda's research lab, slamming the frail wooden door behind them as Purah kicks it closed behind herself, too lost in thought to notice a skittish, short blonde knight now trailing behind them like a lost dog, following them within after holding post at said lab for the past half hour, the usual masked emotionless expression on his face.
"I still don't get it though, what exactly is it meant to do?" Zelda questions, Purah placing it on her busy desk, shoving other small trinkets to the side to make room for her prized invention.
"Well..." Purah starts, "If it works how it's supposed to, it should, in theory of course, send us some sort of message telling us when or how the calamity will happen. For example, a weapon hinting to how to defeat it, an item or even possibly a person."
"Is that... allowed...?" Zelda's brows furrow in concern, her eyes squinting in a side glance at Purah, Link continuing his childish activities as he adventures around the laboratory, squinting and picking at small chips of metal and stone he finds in the nooks of the woman's comfort place.
"I don't know, but I couldn't care less seeing as this is going to change everything!" Purah exclaims, the mad scientist within herself showing its true colors as he opens its latch, fiddling with the rotating lock to match up the numbers to make it so it's only a mere 6 months in the future, not too much but definitely enough to get more information on the calamity. Right as she's about to press the button placed at the combo locks center, a frantic Zelda quickly stops her.
"W- Wait! Purah, let's think about this for a second! If... If a person were to truly be summoned from this watch, wouldn't it be safer to do this in a larger environment? Possibly with guards to stand post if it summons our foe himself?" She quickly speaks, trying to convince Purah to not do such reckless things without thinking first when the kingdom of Hyrule is on the line.
Purah, meanwhile, passes a glance sideways to the princess. She pauses for a few seconds, as if considering, before clamping the pocket watch back closed with a sigh.
"I guess you're right..." She groans out, an annoyed expression on her face as she grinds her teeth together.
"Well, if we're going to need guards, we may as well get the champions themselves! Since, you know, they are involved in this whole Calamity business themselves..." Purah yells out, already making her way towards the communication panels she's been working on on the Sheika sleight. "Wait, is there any need to get them involved? They must be busy, what if it doesn't even work!" Zelda yelps, trying to pull Purah away from it.
"You're the one who suggested it princess, not me~ Think of it as 'compensation'" Come's a teasing remark from Purah, grinning a big toothy grin as she sends out a message to all of the champions.

On the other end of history, Link is currently running for his life as he tries to escape a Hinox he had to walk over to get to the other end of a bridge, having been too lazy to walk a different, safer route that would have taken longer, and instead taking the shorter, more dangerous route. What he wasn't expecting when he decided to go this way however, was for his left foot to get caught right in the Hinox's eye when he was walking over it, lodging it right between the beast's eyelids as it woke up with a terrifying shriek, making the forest areas surrounding the bridge rumble with creatures all flying and running away in evacuation.
Link was trying his hardest to outrun the horrible monster, putting on his Majora's mask to at least not be bothered by the neighboring Bokoblins infesting the wood he was weaving himself through to escape the wrath of the monster he had just unintentionally (for once) agitated.
His breath quickened, eyes dazed and throat tightening as panic sets in, the realization that this is a very real situation dawning on him when he feels the vibrations of the creatures footsteps stomping through the forest just a few dozen meters behind him, vengeance in its steps as its eyes glare at Link, a snarl from the back of its throat screeching out in a blood-curdling way that makes Link want to rip out his eardrums.
"I- I didn't mean to do it! Please! LEAVE ME ALONE!"
Link yells out in a last-ditch effort to get it to leave him alone. Just as he loses all hope, he sees a beam of light in front of him, regaining respect for goddess Hylia for saving his sorry ass. A glowing structure highlighted in orange. A shrine.
Chapter 2: erm... yippe second chapter ig?
Summary:
Yet again, I'm not too sure if I'm going to have the motivation to fully finish this fic seeing as I'm a really indecisive person so please DO NOT get ur hopes up gang ): I'm really tired, have shit insomnia and I'm writing this chapter on no sleep so if it sucks ass or if its cringe, mb gang.
gwaith cloc hynafol translates to ancient clockworks in Welsh, IDK I just feel like Hyrule is a very Welsh place seeing as I live ON THE BORDER of England and Wales (it's not nice, all the towns around here are just villages with like, 3 corner shops)
Chapter Text
"So... Why exactly did you want all of us here?"
An arrogant voice echoes through the large area of the study, said voice coming from a mid height (tallish to Hylian standards) dark blue rito, Revali. All of the champions aimlessly wondering around the room, trying to occupy themselves as they awaited for whatever Purah and the princess were planning on doing, Revali currently asking what they were doing there, it not being the first time one of them asked why they were summoned.
"Well- Purah and I-"
Zelda grunted, a particular hard turn of the wrist as she tweaks away at the device Purah liked to call a 'gwaith cloc hynafol' with a screwdriver to make sure the cogs would stay in place, its name being inspired by the pieces found in guardians.
"Were hoping that you could help us keep guard whilst we try out Purah's new invention."
She sighed, turning to face Purah with a face full of sweat and oil, streaks of charcoal adoring her full cheeks, the two women having been tinkering and perfecting the device for hours now, the sun already approaching the horizon with a dusty orange and pink tint to the sky as the day comes to an end.
They sent the message and labeled it as an emergency, hence how all of the champions got there within just a day, although this wasn't what they were expecting when Purah triggered them a meeting message saying they urgently needed help at Hyrule castle with something very important, a calamity changing even if you must.
"And how exactly is this thing supposed to help us stop the calamity?"
Revali scoffs, aiming to poke at it but missing as Zelda protectively yanks it away from Revali's vicinity, Purah throwing a pointed glare at the bird and Zelda pouting at him.
"I hate to say it little princess... but he's right. How is a clock going to help us?"
The large Goron champion, Daruk, mumbles. Looking back and forth between the princess and the device with wonder and confusion, scratching his stone head in curiosity as small pebbles fall to the ground from said action.
Purah lets out a loud scoff, rolling her eyes as she raises a brow at Daruk.
"This isn't just any old Clock, it's an ancient clock! My prized invention!"
She boasts with pride, a clear sense of happiness shimmering in her eyes as she gets lost in her own thoughts, not noticing the other champions staring at her in even more confusion than before.
"Well, what does this... clock, do?"
Mipha's soft voice speaks up. Although she's often seen being quite shy and gently with her wording and how she treats others, there's a clear agitation in her voice at the situation she's been roped into, not being pleased with the whole 'emergency', her annoyance showing through the way she clutches hard onto the handle of her silver spear, it shaking ever so gently within her soft webbed hands made to heal.
"Oh!" Zelda's eyes light up, a smile spreading across her face as she holds out the clock, having finally fixed whatever issue she was trying to fix. "What was that? Sorry, I didn't quite catch what you said!" The clueless princess giggled out in question, innocently turning to face the others again.
"She asked what it does, little bird." Urbosa repeats, small groan in her voice as her eyes flicker back and forth from Zelda and the stone trinket clutched between her hands, noticing the way the princess holds it as if it were a prized possession to be protected with all will and strength and cost, feeling the dark aura residing within itself as she gets a gut feeling it'll do as much good as bad.
Purah stands up, approaching the four warriors with a smirk on her face. "Okay, so basically, What its purpose to do is give us some sort of hint or message on how to defeat the calamity. I myself, don't know how exactly it's going to do this, if it works that is... But it could range from a simple message written on a piece of paper, to a random item that will hold relevance to the calamity, or even a living being, like a person who can tell us what exactly will happen!"
Then. Zelda sheepishly speaks up, fiddling with the tips of her fingers as a bashful, soft blush, dusts across her cheeks, looking rather embarrassed. "But... If our other theories are also correct... there's a possibility it could summon the calamity itself..."
"So... what you're saying is, we could be put in danger if this... 'thing' does work? What exactly would we do if it spawns in our mighty foe 'the great evil' itself?" Urbosa questions with concern in her voice, asking the very same question Zelda asked Purah just a few hours prior.
"Well, that's why we called Hyrules strongest warriors." The princess starts, "We can go to the main hall to activate the experiment, and guards will be stationed around all exits, crossing off any possibilities of whatever it summons running away and escaping. And you four can stay stationed within the hall with me and Purah to help keep it in a contained environment."
Mipha hums, scratching at her chin before asking a whole new question. "Oh, and by the way... Where's Link?" The rest of the champions nodding along with this, also having wanted the answer to this question.
"He's been stationed to help a small platoon attack on a Bokoblin camp in the Faron region, they've been attacking passerbyers for the last few months." The Sheika hums out casually, shaking her head with a groan as she disagrees with the king working the poor knight to the bone, pitying the small teen for never getting a break or experiencing adolescent years like a normal Hylian.
Chapter 3: heeey... how yall doin???
Summary:
okay, so like. I kinda forgot this existed but only realized today when i#I saw a bunch of unopened emails from Ao3 telling me about me kudos and comments (also, thank you for all the hits! I'm usually too embarrassed to post my fics, so seeing one of the only ones I've posted actually gain attraction is VERY ego boosting!) and I had a heart attack realizing I forgot to post another chapter.
Idk how, but within the last month, I've improved my writing skills much more (at least, I think?) so I went back and edited the last two chapters to have more grammatical sense to them.... (I'm about to post chapter 4 like, a month after writing this, and I'm going back and editing my older chapters to look nicer and stuff. somehow there were STILL GRAMATICAL ERRORS??? soo... that definitely didn't work...)
Chapter Text
Link feels the limited air he was storing within his lungs immediately get thrown out as he feels yet another vibration of the raging Hinox behind him stalking his path stomping against the ground, trying to catch the Hylian that not only stole his limited hours of sleep, but also stepped in his eye, making his vision slightly blurred.
He can't remember ever running that fast (although, when can Link remember anything?), but the momentum and speed the hero gains once spotting the shrine is jaw-dropping. Sprinting like his life depends on it, because it does, for the glowing stone shrine of rescue from the beast trailing behind.
He practically skids onto the smooth flooring of the outside area of the shrine, stumbling to grab onto the terminal and carelessly slamming his Purah pad down onto it, dragging it behind him as he throws himself into the elevating platform to take him within the depths of the limited safe haven. He makes direct eye contact with the fuming giant of a Hinox as he levitates down, watching as the beast raises its clenched fist in anger, being engulfed by the ground before he can catch a glimpse of it being slammed back down, but sure as hell feeling its shudder it sends through the dirt and stone surrounding him, hitting him square in the face with the reality that he could of just possibly lost his life to a Hinox of all things after facing Ganon not once, but TWICE. And having ridden multiple dragons, survived death twice, fallen through the sky from at least 100 meters high, fought more beasts than he can count, you get the jist...
Link lets out a breath he was unaware he was holding as he lets his back lean against the walls of the platform he is currently travelling downwards within, slumping down against it in exhaustion as he sits on the cold, hard, stone floor, catching his breath in small pants, his palm held over his chest right above the rapid beating of his heart.
Once it finally stops at the ground floor, Link slowly and drowsily stands up, rubbing his head as he steps out of the elevator with curiosity, never having seen a shrine with insides like this. The shrines insides look almost... spiritual? There's a thick green fog coating the floor of the shrine and it looks like it goes on for miles, yet it fees claustrophobic at the same time, reminding him of the lost woods. He wafts his hands through the fog, noticing murals of ancient scriptures and art graced along the paths of the floor, glowing green and turquoise lights distant yet close, swallowed up by the thick air.
He adventures through the mysterious area, feeling as if his body is being taken over by a spirit, whispers of promise ghosting against his ears and soul as he ventures further into the fog until he eventually reaches a lone terminal.
It's old, abandoned looking, as if it had been here waiting for him since before the calamity 100 years ago. Vines and rust grew up and along its sides, a thick layer of dust residing atop it as Link softly blows it away, coughing from accidentally inhaling some. It almost looks...
enticing.
He unconsciously reaches for the pad attached to his hip with one hand as he traces the patterns decorating the terminal with the other, placing the slate on it with a loud 'clank!', the sound echoing multiple times throughout the chasm, highlighting the eerie silence of the shrine. He sighs, moving to go back to adventuring as he sees nothing happen, before a rumbling can be heard.
Chapter 4: we're finally getting somewhere
Summary:
YAAAAAY aren't you guys happy that I've finally started working on the actual plot instead of everything before what i promised in the fics description??? YIPPE (if the chapters terrible, thats not my fault, thats the past hour of editing old chapters fault.)
Also, to all of the older readers of this, there's a few things I edited.
1.) The 'ancient clock' is now called a 'gwaith cloc hynafol', this means ancient clockworks in Welsh because my Hyrule is based off of Wales
2.) I changed post-cal Link to being after completing TOTK instead of the middle of BOTW, seeing as it just makes more sense and it's easier for the plot that way, sorry guys );
3.) Link is no longer away visiting family, he's currently in Faron with a platoon fighting a group of Bokoblins that are terrorizing bystanders because, yet again, it makes more sense for the plot, trust me.
4.) Urbosa doesn't like the clock, she has a bad gut feeling about it.
Chapter Text
if you're an old reader and you haven't read the summary, please do, there's actual important stuff there for once.
"Well then, get to it! We don't have all day, and I especially don't want to be flying home in the dark."
Revali scoffs out with a roll of his eyes, his feathers shaking in annoyance as the tiredness from the flight here starts to hit him like a ton of bricks, just wanting to see whatever the clock thing has to summon, saying a quick goodbye to everyone, and getting the hell out of that damn stuffy castle.
Zelda perks up, her eyes widening and a blush reappearing on her face as she realizes how she's been holding them all up, nodding quickly with an awkward chuckle
"A- ah! Yes, of course-"
"Hold it there, little bird."
Urbosa interrupts Zelda, holding out her hand in silence as she narrows her eyes at the clock, the clock ticking away almost taunting her.
"I don't think this is a very good idea, we should at least wait to use this as a last-ditch effort for the calamity when all things are going bad, instead of using it on a random day-"
"Oooh please! Calm down Urbosa, it's not that bad! Let's just press the damn button and see what comes up."
Revali reaches out for the clock, everyone feeling on edge as he takes it from Zelda, the princess watching him carefully as he twists it's rotary to be only a 1, representing 1 day.
"There! How about we just do it so it's only one day in the future, what harm could it cause-"
"A lot! A lot of harm Revali, what about the people this could possibly endanger?"
Urbosa groans out, grinding her teeth together to try and contain her growing agitation as she takes the clock from Revali, putting it back to a one.
"I mean... I don't know Urbosa, the kids got a point"
"I am not a kid."
"Maybe we should just use this thing, we're all tired and we just want to go home, plus, what harm could one day do, really?"
Daruk jumps in, gently taking the watch from Urbosa's hands and as carefully as he can, changing it back to a one with feather light stone touch, trying his best to not break the precious thing, scared of what Zelda and Purah would do to him if he did.
"Yes, all of your concerns are valid, but I stand with lady Urbosa, I believe that thing clock-"
"gwaith cloc hynafol" Purah jumps in.
"... That this... erm, 'cloc?' could do us harm, putting us and the rest of Hyrule in danger because of our own selfish reasons of 'wanting to go home quicker'."
Mipha propped up her trident against a wall, walking over to the group, taking the clock from the Gouron and changing it back to a zero.
Zelda and Purah look between each other with awkwardness as they see the group of mixed races arguing over their small side project, Zelda weakly raising a finger to silently point at them whilst Purah just weakly shrugs her shoulders at the girl.
"How about, me and Purah just deal with thi-"
"No! I may want to go home desperately, but none of us are trusting you two alone with this thing!"
Revali chirps out, his feathers raised.
The clock shenanigans quickly start to snowball into a full-grown argument, it getting ragged back and forth between all the champions, Purah finally jumping in as she tries to yank it from them.
"Okay, that's enough!"
She shouts, reaching for the clock but instead accidentally slapping it out of Mipha's hands, brushing against the rotary before it goes flying across the room, landing face first against the floor.
A deafening silence engulfs the room as everyone stares at the clock, before looking back at each other, Zelda being the only one frozen in place, shoulders dropped, absolute terror on her face, an 'oh shit' expression, if you will. Once the moments over, still in silence, she slowly and shakily approaches it, kneeling down to pick it up nervously, standing up and turning it around, her eyes widening as she impulsively shouts out,
"I'M SORRY, ONE HUNDRED AND FIVE YEARS???"
The entire group cringing once they realized how much they've just messed up.
Daruk looks up, his brows furrowing as he mumbles something under his breath before calling out Zelda.
"Umm... tiny princess... what exactly Is that?"
┉─.·͙*̩̩͙˚̩̥̩̥*̩̩̥͙【.☾⭒༺✩༻ ⭒☽.】*̩̩̥͙˚̩̥̩̥*̩̩͙‧͙.─┉
The fog dusting against the floor of the shrine Link was in started to slowly swirl in a large circle a few meters in front of him, it quickly picking up speed as the fog rises, Link attempting to stand back but feeling frozen in place, the now forming soft tornado of fog not pulling him in, yet keeping him still
A figure appears within the fog, Link's eyes narrowing as he tries to make out what, or who, it is. After a few attempts, he finally realizes where he knows the figure from, and oh Hylia, it's Hylia herself, what the hell did he do this time.
"...My child."
He hears, well, he doesn't really hear her, it's more like subtitles in his brain he can feel, her call out, her hand reaching out gently, palm out and presented towards Link.
"I'm sorry my little one, but I have to present you with another challenge, you are needed elsewhere in history."
A sigh is heard within this one, seeming more pitiful than her last sentence.
Link looks down to notice a faint glow of his arm, the arm Rauru gave him, it glowing brighter and brighter, shining in a heartbeat matching his own.
"Wh- What do you mean? I've already beat Ganon twice, Zelda became a Din damn dragon last time for Hyrules sake sake! What more do you want for me!"
Just like how the rings appeared on his fingers when he gained the sages, a bracelet starts to form at the top of his wrist, a symbol slowly imprinting itself.
"I apologise my child, but this time, this is none of my doing, I have no control over this matter."
The symbol feels oddly similar, as if Link has seen it before. Once the bracelet finally solidifies, he doesn't know where exactly he's seen it before, but he feels a spiritual connection to it, not wanting to draw conclusions or connections but having a somewhat guess that it has to represent...
"Please stay safe on this journey young one, I am deeply sorry that there is nothing I can do with this matter.
Princess Zelda.
"I guess I shouldn't of let her and her friends grow so intelligent this time around... Curiosity does kill the cat."
Hylia finishes off, clearly referencing towards the princess. Now, instead of thinking what the hell did he do, he thinks what the hell did she do. A warm, bright light starts to emit from Hylia and she slowly fades, Link looking up at her from where he's been staring at his wrist for the last few minutes.
"hey, Hylia?"
He calls out, somehow feeling her acknowledging him, yet not replying.
"What the hell is a cat?"
"...I suggest you take out your paraglider."
≿━━━━༺❀༻━━━━≾
The white light swallows him whole before he can get an answer out of her, blinking and suddenly falling from the great hall within Hyrule castle, having to quickly pull out his paraglider, if not for his quick reflexes, he would have been crushed.
One thing that catches his eye though, is not only that Hyrule castle is completely spotless, as if the calamity's never happened in the first place, but he swears on his family's graves that he's seeing the dead???
"What on Hyrule..."
He mumbles under his breath, trying to convince himself that it's just the majora's mask he's wearing that's messing with his vision
He noticed Daruk looking up at him, the tone man's eyes narrowing, muttering something under his breath before calling out slowly to his side.
"Umm... tiny princess... what exactly Is that?"
...Why the hell is Zelda here.
Chapter 5: everything is not safe, everything is not fine and nothing is going well.

Chapter Text
"This is ridiculous... The one time I'm assigned a mission by the princess herself, it's to the Damel forest looking at stupid statues..."
The soldier mutters under his breath as he takes another swing at the vines blocking his path, one of his comrades playfully elbowing his ribs with a low chuckle, shaking his head at the man's stubbornness.
"It was our section that got assigned this trip, not just you, stop boosting your own ego. Plus, there not just statues, their ancient Zonai artifacts, some of the only left standing in modern day hyrule..."
...
no reply.
...
He rolls his eyes with another staggered step, his feet getting tangled within the greens of the forest floor in a sick dance.
...
"Aaand your favorite 'hero' Is here with us~"-
"Shut up! You and I both know how much I hate that brat! I don't care if 'hylia herself' chose him and that one day he's apparently going to 'save hyrule', he doesn't know how to treat his elders or what respect mean-"
slash
It only just grazed his cheek, leaving a cut only a layer of skin or two deep behind as evidence of hyrule's chosen hero's barley concealed rage. The sword landing embedded within the bark of a tree only a few meters in front of him, Link walking past him, barging into the rude, disrespectful mans shoulder as he makes his way towards it to get the sword- ... 'her' back.
With a sneer, he whips his head back to look over his shoulder at the two men in grimace, signing at them sharply,
'Maybe you should learn what respect truly means before you go around preaching about it like some expert. Respect is earnt, not given. You of all people should know that since we're serving the royal army.'
Their unit was currently being led by Link through the dense forests of faron in search of ancient Zonai ruins to report back to princess Zelda, the lady having trusted her knight to bring back samples and photos of the ruins no matter what, going as far as to lend him her sheikah slate.
The small team of men had been venturing through the greenery for only a couple of hours seeing as how long the trip to there was, having left at noon and arrived just before dusk, carrying lanterns, torches, and source of light they could get their hands on just to be able to see through the slowly fading glow of the sunset. Before Link left, he had heard Zelda and Purah talking about some new device, feeling nauseous at the mere thought of them getting hurt by said invention but remembering how they mentioned sending out a signal for the champions to join them at the castle to try it out, being content with the thought of them being safe.

EVERYTHING WAS NOT SAFE, EVERYTHING WAS NOT FINE AND NOTHING WAS GOING WELL.
Zelda raised her head to see the Bokoblin- Hylian- Man? Thing? She honestly couldn't tell what exactly he (?) was, but all she could tell was it was staring right back at her with a menacing look.
He was wearing what a usual traveller would be seen wearing around hyrule, a bland, green red and orange tunic with chainmail beneath and protective leather to cover his arms paired with standard beige trousers plus pockets attached to belts slung across his waist and back.
something that stood out about him though was not the strange device attached to his waist, not the arrangements of tools, his sword and his bow attached to his back and somehow not the colourful glider he was slowly descending on with intricate carvings along its handles and beautifully designed fabric. But it was his mask.
A simple, yet chilling mask. A mask that Zelda felt familiarity with. A mask that made said familiarity hold hands with a chill that went down her spine.
The mask was as big as two faces yet only covered one, it was colourful and dull all at once, purple and red at its base with yellow spikes along its edges, four on each side and two at the top, some spikes fading into other colours and other staying at its base of just yellow.
And it had these eyes, these beady, soul staring eyes that felt like it could scare the truth out of a foe. They were a toxic orange, fading into tulip yellow, with the pupils of an emerald green.
She didn't know why the man had chose this mask, but it made her feel- no, it ,made her know that he was not the sign her and Purah were hoping for.
A sudden yelp could be heard from the tall, tanned gerudo woman, thrusting out her scimitar violently with a growl that snapped Zelda back into reality.
"Protect the princess! Corner the beast!"
Chapter 6: finally at the start of the main story
Summary:
y'all, how the flip do I do the thing here it makes some of the text slanted and some of it bold, I feel like it would give this fic so much more flavour.
Also I've decided to go with wednesdays, preferably updating them at around 11PM BST
sorry that the chapters so short, I'm really tired and my shoulder keeps on just barley popping out because I had trampolining club today (this shit HUUURRRTS)
Idk if I mentioned it in the previous chapters, but I got the results for my science tests back, and I'm proud to say that I got a 24/35 in physics and a 25/35 in chemistry. Biology however... (17/35...)
Chapter Text
"Hah? Just the princess?? WHAT ABOUT ME???"
Purah shouted as the champions realized the situation they had on their hands, all dashing around the room to take a safe stance to keep the man contained within the hall.
"Oh, won't you just can it and get to safety!"
Revali bickered back and forth with the white-haired maiden, his brows furrowed in concentration as he felt a cold sweat run through his soft, navy feathers.
"Um, excuse me? Hello?? I'm not a beast!"
Link shouted right back at them with a scoff, the roll of his eyes almost audible through his mask from how sarcastic the man sounded.
Link knows he should be taking this situation seriously, genuinely, he knows this. But acting all cocky and bratty in a room with people who are meant to be dead is a sort of coping mechanism for him, the only thing keeping him from breaking down in front of all of these people, the only thing stopping him from breaking. I mean, what else is he supposed to do when he's been thrown a hundred years back in time?
"First, answer our question you beady eyed freak! Who- or what, are you??"
Revali shouted out at him, the blue bird hardening his stance as his feathers stand on end, pulling back the string of his bow just a fraction further to show he's not messing around in this situation.
Link's breath catches in his throat at the question. 'Who is he'? What do they mean, do they not recognise him? He understands that it's been a few years since he's woken up so he has grown in stature and strength, but he didn't think it was that much. Like, sure he's wearing a mask, but wouldn't they recognise his voi-
.
...
shit.
they didn't ever hear him speak, did they?
Well, Zelda might of once or twice, but it doesn't seem like that's happened for them yet, and Mipha probably grew up with him yapping her ear off, but she probably also doesn't recognise it's noise because it's no longer high pitched and squeaky, now low and matured...
"Um..."
He awkwardly mutters out, trying to find an escape route to get out of there, checking every window, door, just to see that they were all blocked.
Right when he was about to run out of hope, he felt the weight of his stone tablet against his hip. Eyes wide, he quickly reaches out for it, just having landed on the ground as he sees it does still work with the older shrines of pre-calamity Hyrule.
With the quick tap of his screen, he can already feel his body disintegrating into small blue fragments, much to the champions confusion, and ofcourse, deciding to add some more to the mix, he fucks with them a bit.
He tilts his head to the side ever so slightly, just enough for it to look like his heads gone loose on the neck, and lets out a low laugh, not of joy, but mockery, like someone's just made the funniest joke he's ever heard out of a person.
A hand is raised, watching as all of the champions in unison lunge at him to try and stop what he's already started.
A wave.
"bye~"
Goodbye.

Chapter Text
The echoing of shouts and the ruckus of slammed doors could be heard all thought hyrule castle as news of a creature escaping hyrules greatest spread from mouth to mouth like a plague of gossip, the Campions slowly dragging their feet as they made their way to where King Rhoam Bosphoramus Hyrule lay discussing business in his meeting room with other neighboring kingdoms leaders, their heads pointed downwards towards the dark bloody red carpeted flooring of the castles carpets.
A variety of emotions painted each of the warriors faces as they prepared themselves for the scolding they were about to receive, some ridden with shame, some baring acceptance, some shielding fear and others scowling with annoyance. But an emotion all six of the pupils held was guilt, an immense guilt that they had just royally fuckd their kingdom over and brought hyrule to a possible earlier doom then they were expecting.
After a dreadful amount of time non of the creatures could tell between it being 1 second and ten thousand, they reached a large dark acacia wooden door with golden rimming decorations and a circular embroidered door handle, the handle feeling as if as soon as it were to be touched, whoever touched it would be scorched alive.
There was a strange silent debate between the six, Daruk, Mipha, Revali, Urbosa, Pura and Zelda, of who is the sacrifice, whos the one whos going to open the door. It was a fight between glances, grunts and groans, but eventually, The princess of Hyrule herself faltered, feeling the most at fault for this for endorsing Purah's calling upon the champions, arranging how they would use the device, helping with its developments and the accident of summoning the no faced, no named beast. With a gulp that swallowed her pride, fear and sanity all in one, she daringly opened the door, her eyes immediately meeting with her fathers.
"Um- Father, If I may-"
"Zelda. What did I say about knocking when I'm clearly in a meeting with other powers?"
King Bosphoramus grunted up from the back of his voice, a god awful scowl that was laced with a small dose of compassion for his one and only daughter, feeling poor whenever he scolds or reprimanded the young lady. He was sat on a large wooden and velvet chair at the head of a long table in a meeting with two other men, and one woman, and a creature of androgyny, all seeming to have been discussing trade unions and raising prices for more demanded items.
The lady was a flat headed buttercup yellow puffer fish looking creature adorned in silk, pearls and copper, her species seeming to be related to Zora's in some way, her accent being polished and posh as she went by with perfect manners, her trading area was special goods such as tobacco, sugar, tea leaved, spices and other substances such.. Meanwhile, the first gentleman was a feathered one, also similar to the rito in some ways yet not at all. His feathers were a pure white fading into a cream colour, being covered from head to toe in said feathers, without the anatomy of bird or human, a non humanoid creature at all that's only sign of consciousness was language, his area of trade being different resources, woods, stones, ores, you name it. The second man was an mucky emerald green Orc looking creature, clad in scars and armour made of leather and silver, having refused to unarm himself of his stone spear once within the castle, yet the rest of the people at the table seemed to be used to this by now, his area of trade was weaponry, different bows, arrows, swords and spears and guns and bullets. The final creature looked like something straight out of a tale for kits, graceful as ever with no facial creatures, aesthetics seeming to have been ripped straight from the grasp of father time and space itself. Their face, if Zelda can even call it a face, was a globe, a globe containing lights and plants and water with space that seemed to never end, and its outfit was a soft flowing silk that didn't seem to be affected by hyrules gravity, the only skin you could see of it being a light grayish blue with patches of colours varying from whites to blacks to dark navy blues to bright neon cyans. Their trading line being art and pleasures for the people like paints, pencils, papers, books, paintings and all the mind could imagine.
"Oh, such a pretty daughter You have King Rhoam~ Is this that Zelda girl you have been telling us so much about?"
The puffer fish looking lady asks with a soft giggle, the table seeming to be quite fine with his daughters intrusion, giggles and chuckles being heard all around as Zelda's face reddened a fraction.
"I- I'm aware father, and I apologise, deeply, but there is something more serious I must inform you of-"
"May I please just finish my meeting before I have a chat with you my dear? I will only be a few hours."
The king chuckles out, not understanding the severity of the situation his daughters trying to inform him of, much to Zelda's dismay.
"But father, Please, Just one moment!"
"Zelda."
The king cuts her off sternly, his brows furrowed ever so slightly to show his dismay at her continuous pushing, Zelda holding her breath with tense shoulders as their eyes met.
It took her a few moments to gather her composure, but after a second or two, her shoulders relaxed again, fists clenched at the sides to hide her growing anxiety and irritation.
"...Yes father."
And with that, she turned to exit the room.
What was she going to tell the others, that he said nothing and they had to wait a few hours to get an answer when the creature could already be outside Hyrule by then? And then they'll be in even more trouble??? How in Hylia's name were they meant to capture this bring and send it back to its rightful time? Posters? No, then her father would find out through them and be even more mad that they tried to 'hide it' from him. Send out guards? No, someone would notify him and he'd still find out... There was no way she could think of! How on earth was she meant to send out a search team of people without the king finding out and getting even more mad at them then he already will be?
She reaches the door with a pale face, full of guilt and anxiety, a few of the champions noticing once she emerges from her father's meeting.
Daruk, being one of the bravest out of all of them, is the first to ask how it went.
"So... Tiny princess? What did he say?"
Zelda genuinely doesn't know how to reply to them, her breath catching in her throat as she feels the sweat of her skin sticking to her clothes and all of her past sins crawling up her back, entangling themselves within her mind.
In a blurt of words before she loses herself since she can sense a quickly approaching panic attack, Zelda speaks with a dry throat, making up the answer she thinks is the best for their situation and for them to hear.
"He wants us to go after it."
Chapter 8: girl bye...
Summary:
lowkey, I'm writing this two hours before uploading it so sorry if this chapter sucks yall, I'm out of brain juice, I got writer block atm...
with the whole 'uploading every wednesday at 11pm GMT', I'm still going to keep it like that of course, but I might start updating random bonus chapters some days. Like, keeping the schedule I have right now but having more random uploads added if you know what I mean? For example, one week I upload a chapter on wednesday and friday, then the next tuesday and wednesday, then the next just wednesday, you know? (`๑ > ᴗ < ๑`)
Chapter Text
"What do you mean we have to go after that beast?"
Revali squacks out in panic, none of the champions having expected to get that as an answer out of all their predictions. Mipha let's out a gasp, bringing up her hands to cover her face, Urbosa sighs out as she looks to her side, Daruk winced, sicking inwards through his teeth and Purah looks as if she's lost all of the blood from her face, debating walking off then and there.
"Th- That's what he told me... That we must go after the creature ourselves seeing as we caused the problem."
Zelda nervously chuckles out, scratching the back of her head, the cotton-fibered red carpets decorating the floors below them suddenly becoming very interesting to look at.
The princess has never been the best liar, always getting caught out on her lies by either her father, Link, or Urbosa, but with only Urbosa here right now as well as looking to her side, she either doesn't notice, or is too stressed to comment on the royal's sudden awkward behavior.
"Are you sure tiny princess? I mean... I know that the king can be... irresponsible at times... But would he really stoop as low as to send his own daughter after this unknown man-"
Daruk is cut off by Zelda, holding up her hands in protest as she waves them back and forth.
"Whaaat? No, nonono, father didn't want to send me as well at first, I volunteered to tag along seeing as I'm just as guilty as the rest of us, possibly more!"
She continues to drag on the lie, not wanting to get called out again and possibly exposes as she starts walking, expecting the small group of interracials to follow close behind her.
"Now, we must go before it gets too far! We don't even know how far it is at the moment in time and we don't have a second to waste!"

Link stumbles slightly as he fades back into a solid matter, having to hold out his hands to keep his balance on the rocky surface.
"Now... where am I?" He mumbles to himself under his breath as he rubs his eyes, emerging from the small shelter of the shrine, his hands gently trailing across the dark, smooth stone walls.
He stretches his neck as he scouts his surrounding, noting the close see, the smell of the seaside and the trees surrounding the land around it. Not knowing where exactly he is (since his Purah pad doesn't seem to be updated on this Hyrule and is still adjusting), he starts to explore more, deducing that he's somewhere near Lurelin village but not being able to tell where or what shrine he even went to.
"God... this is why I shouldn't just click on the first shrine I see whenever I'm too lazy to fight, If I just checked what shrine this was before teleporting, I wouldn't be sitting here waiting for the Purah pad to update!"
Just then, he hears a small sound coming from said device, taking it out as he squints his eyes at the bright screen, why does the sun have to start setting when he's just got here...
"shai utoh shrine...?" The Hylian mumbles to himself under his breath, reaching up and removing his mask from his face to get a better look at the pad.
"I'm not as far as I thought from Lurelin village as I thought... I might be able to make it there by midnight if I go fast..."
He thinks aloud, overthinking whether he should just camp at the shrine overnight or if he should take the risk of going to the village, knowing it's possible the king has sent out a warrant for him after the strange incident of being summoned right at the center of Hyrule castle.
"I still don't get how there alive right now..."

"Why's he so closed off?"
One of the soldiers elbows the other with a soft chuckle, the two glancing over to where a certain was currently sitting, setting up a campfire for himself, the boy prefering to set up for the night alone.
"Oh, leave the poor boy alone. That sword of his forced him to have to join the royal forces at such a young age, it makes sense he finds it hard to socialize normally..."
The other soldier lets out a laugh instead of a chuckle this time, hooking his arm over the other man's shoulder, holding him close.
"Look at you being all paternal~"
A dry laugh escapes the back of his throat, shaking his head gently. "Can you blame me? Any Hylian would feel a sense of pity looking at such a young child serving Hyrule and being left out by the only people he should understand... Stop being to hard on him."
Just then, one of the higher ranked soldiers in their camp suddenly emerged from within a tent, a look of urgency on his face as he holds a messaging plate in his hands.
"Um, Link? There's a message here for you from the princess."
