Chapter Text
Mr. L, known to his fellow teachers as Mr. Lind and his students as Mr. Linglong, was trapped. Behind Mr. L was a door with a smiling student behind it, waving a key in the air with their long tail and mouthing the words to a random song that changed every five minutes. He gave the student a tough glare, which only prompted a laugh that could be heard from the other side of the door.
The tail moved around, holding the keys tightly, triggering the rattling of a rattlesnake’s tail as it shifted in a circular motion. Such a thing was curious.
Omegas had famously short tails. They were narrow and thin yet as fluffy as a cat’s. Alphas had large tails almost completely lacking fur. Additionally, they had a circle of fur lining their necks. Depending on the alpha, this circle could either be incredibly fluffy or almost invisible. Betas had none of that as tails were used for attracting mates, which betas had no need for. Instead, betas had sharp claws and teeth for defense. Pups on the other hand, most of whom presented by highschool, were devoid of defensive and mating features.
This student, just like a beta, had sharp claws and teeth, which became more apparent the longer they laughed. However, they also had a rattlesnake-like tail. Unlike a recently-presented teen, this kid had a fully defined tail along with sharp horns instead of ears and teeth dripping with venom.
‘Stupid little shit.’ Mr. L thought to himself. He rolled his eyes at the inhuman child, who rolled their eyes back and pointed behind Mr. L.
Mr. L’s short tail wagged slightly after following the finger. Ms. H was sitting down at her desk typing on her computer furiously. She didn’t even look up at the commotion the child was making.
Now that Mr. L noticed her, he continued looking around and noticed that he was in the chemistry classroom and not a storage closet. It’s no wonder he didn’t notice the difference originally as the room was almost pitch black, with the only light coming from Ms. H’s computer. There were lined up desks with a smartboard in the front and lockers in the back. ‘How did that kid lock a classroom from the OUTSIDE?’
Mr. L looked back. The child looked straight into his eyes and wagged their tail, gesturing aggressively towards Ms. H. Mr. L’s eyes narrowed. The child’s eyes widened.
Suddenly, the typing stopped and Mr. L heard the distinctive sign of a laptop shutting. Mr. L looked back for a quick second.
Creakkk.
Ms. H got up, leaning on her desk with her hands. Her face was flushed lightly. One of her hands reached up to touch her fluffy collar and she sighed so heavily that Mr. L could hear it from his side of the room. She slowly walked towards Mr. L.
Tap. Tap. Tap. Tap. Tap. Mr. L kept his eyes on Ms. H. Her steps seemed to get slower as she got closer.
Eventually, Ms. H was right in front of Mr. L. Mr. L towered over her at a height of 6’2. Despite this, Ms. H leaned her arm behind his head, standing at a height of 4’11.
Mr. L flushed brightly.
Click. Mr. L blinked at the sudden light. Everything in the room became visible.
The most visible thing would be Ms. H’s face. Her eyes were in a permanently narrowed state as they examined him, looking him up and down. Whether it be stress, love, or annoyance, her emotions were strong enough to release her alpha pheromones, which smelt like metals and chemicals. It was unlike any other scent he has ever smelt. At the unique scent, his eyes closed as he descended into a peaceful state before blinking back open. His eyes opened to Ms. H analyzing him, looking him up and down a few times before backing away.
He opened his mouth and blurted out “Ms. H!”
She blinked at the sudden noise. “Yes? Is there something you need Mr. L?”
Mr. L might be a new hire, but even he knew that the alpha female was NOT to be fucked with. It was a historical constant that, between alpha females and alpha males, females were always the more dominant and aggressive ones. After centuries of being underestimated despite having similar strength levels to alpha males, this development was inevitable.
Mr. L couldn’t tell if he was imagining it or not, but he heard a loud, seductive growl emanate from the lady’s throat. He let out a breathy sigh and purred.
He shook his head slightly. Ms. Hidalgo was already backing away.
“I-um” The omega cleared his throat and spoke again, this time less shakily. “Can you help me? I’m having trouble with a student.”
Usually, problems like that would have the omega keeping it to himself, but there was no way Ms. Hidalgo would listen to him otherwise. He didn’t know anything about chemistry, but he did know about students and those two things were the only things Ms. H was known to care about.
Just like he assumed, Ms. H perked up, her soft ears twitching. “Really, who?”
“Angel.”
Her face relaxed. She let out a soft laugh. If it was even possible, Mr. L’s face flushed even brighter. “Oh, them. Yup, they’re a troublemaker! Sleeping in every class too… what’s the problem with them?”
Mr. L’s eyes shifted from left to right before he finally decided to settle on a half-truth. “Skipped detention today.”
She rolled her eyes. “Of course they did. Y’know, I’m surprised they haven’t been suspended yet. They’re not getting into college at this rate.”
Mr. L let out a short, tense laugh before glancing at the door behind him. The kid must’ve left a long time ago as Ms. H definitely didn’t see them at all and Mr. L couldn’t see them either.
He quickly whipped his head back around when Ms. H let a curse word loose. “Fuck.”
“What happened?”
“Nothing, just got tired of giving out 0s and 65s.” She sighed and walked to a student desk, leaning over it with her back turned to Lindblom and hunching over.
Lindblom was about to approach before a large growl emitted from the woman’s small body. She murmured something unintelligible, body shaking as she emitted more alpha pheromones. The omega was overcome with her distinctly chemical scent. Blushing, the omega emitted soft smelling omega pheromones on accident.
At the scent, Ms. Hidalgo turned around to glance at Mr. Lindblom, who finally became privy to the unmistakable rage on the lady’s face. The omega backed away before slamming into the closed door with a soft thud.
The alpha approached, tail swaying from side to side entrancingly, until she was once again in front of Mr. L. She leaned forward towards his scent gland.
“I-uh” The male omega’s scent dissipated, being enveloped by the smell of chemicals. “Thank you.”
The alpha smiled. “No problem. Try not to get omega fever next time, okay?”
“Yeah, okay. Anyways, why were you so angry?”
She grunted before realizing how close she was to Mr. L and quickly moving away to an acceptable distance. “I dunno. I’ve been getting surges of anger ever since I presented.”
Releasing the tense in his shoulders, Mr. L laughed. “Hah, yeah I get that. A few other female alphas complained about that to me before.”
“Really? Who?”
“Well, Ms. TJ for one.”
“Maybe that's why one of my students was pissed at her.”
“Yeah, maybe.”
The room went quiet for another few moments. Mr. L suddenly realized that the kid hadn't appeared again. Looking into Ms. H’s eyes, he noticed her flushing slightly. He looked down at her lips and-
BANG BANG BANG. “YO!! TEACH! You guys done in there? I got bored. Did you get Ms. Hidalgo to regrade my chemistry homework yet?”
Ms. Hidalgo looked at the door with a strange, indescribable look on her face. “So that’s the real reason why you’re here!” She let out loud unrestrained laughter. “Trust Angel to cause as much chaos as possible.”
Ms. H walked towards the door and opened it without flinching. Mr. L blinked. ‘Wait, what? What were those keys for then? Did I seriously just lock myself in here for no reason? Wait, no, I wasn’t locked in here at all!’
Mr. L looked at the child, who now looked a lot different. All of their defining features, like their dark skin and soft, wavy black hair, remained the same. However, they were back to having ears instead of horns, no tail, and no venom dripping from their semi-sharp teeth, just like the day Mr. L met them.
Ms. H didn’t seem to notice the difference and approached the teenager. Looking up at the teenager, Ms. H began to engage in casual conversation about their lackluster homework.
Mr. Lindblom looked at Ms. H. They locked eyes for one more time before Ms. H’s eyes turned back to the teenager. Mr. L turned away, still thinking of Ms. H, and walked out of the classroom to grab his coat.
‘Well, I hope she feels better,” he thinks to himself, slinging his messenger bag over his shoulder properly. ‘Wonder if I’ll be able to talk to her again. She was kind of-’ He flushed red, cutting off his own thoughts. ‘No, no! I can’t think of my fellow teachers like that.’
Suddenly, he stopped walking in the middle of the hallway. ‘Omegas.’ He looked down at his clawless, muscleless hands.
Omegas, in comparison to betas and alphas, were weak. Betas were meant to protect the pack, keeping their pack safe from predators and catching prey with their sharp claws. Alphas protected their lovers and led the pack, staying alert and being so strong that having multiple alphas in one pack was a horrible idea.
But omegas? They were weak. According to one of his students (who was obsessed with history beyond what was healthy) omegas were historically beaten and thrown aside. Especially male omegas, who were deemed less male for having a weak secondary gender. Even today, the omega couldn’t escape from prejudice about his gender: he barely got a job as a teacher as omega males were still disliked, even if being openly prejudiced against them was frowned upon.
He sighed before continuing to walk. Even betas were treated better than them. Betas could get high pack ranks. They could always get to a high government standing. They could get jobs without being harassed for it.
Mr. L shook his head. ‘No use worrying about this now.’ He smiled to himself. ‘At least I managed to land this job. Who cares about what else I was rejected from. I like teaching, no matter what anyone says.’
Eventually, the man arrived at his classroom and fiddled with his keys to open the door. After opening it, he sighed, flipping off the lights, grabbing his coat, and heading home.
He really hoped that Ms. Hidalgo wouldn’t be out sick again this week.
