Charlie carefully smoothed the duvet on the bed with a smile. His heart was full of joy as he fluffed the pillows and arranged them just so. The dark blue, high thread count linens warmed him, chosen together during a marathon Ikea run.
After so many years of goodbyes before sleeping in their individual beds in separate homes, they finally had their own flat, and just one bed. They were creating a shared home together. For forever.
There would be no more farewells or empty-feeling beds. He couldn’t wait to snuggle into their bed for the first of many nights.
