Chapter 1: Desperation.
Chapter Text
Chance has been in the Forsaken universe for quite some time now. He doesn’t know how long to be exact but he knows it’s been some time. During his stay, he met various strangers that slowly became his friends. But, it wasn’t that the Forsaken universe was entirely great. It was hell in disguise. Various rounds happen now and then and they aren’t pleasant to go through. Chance would see many of his own friends die before him or see his very own life flash before his eyes. But one thing it had in common was that he’ll always end up in the same log cabin after every round. Though, the loop is hell and troublesome to experience, that wasn’t one of the things that displeases Chance. If anything, it was one simple thing. He had nobody to mingle with.
Sure, he’s a charismatic and romantic guy, but he just has no one he finds interesting or would be interested in him. I mean, the ENTIRE cabin was composed of guys. Not that Chance had issues with it, if anything he preferred it but it just makes things harder for him. After all, he doubted that anyone within the cabin was interested in guys. He had a feeling, sure, but there wasn’t anything to really prove his theory of it.
Before he had realized, everything turned dark and Chance was now in a different place; the “Brandon Works” map. This meant that a round had officially started and that hell was going to replay again. Chance immediately opened his eyes and observed where in good name he spawned at. Luckily, his spot wasn’t anywhere lethal or dangerous but he knew that if he just stood there, he’d definitely die sooner or later. He began running towards the castle, where everyone hangs around at. On his way, he flipped his coins various times until he was at 3 charges. A few seconds passed by and Chance had finally arrived at the top of the castle. Not many were there, but there were enough people. He figured that the others were probably running around or doing generators like the usual.
Not much could Chance do, so he decided to dive into his thoughts again. He still wasn’t over the fact he had nobody. I mean like, why couldn’t a guy like him at least catch one fish? He wasn’t overall the worst person to be with. He had his own unique characteristic of “great”. As he continued in his thoughts of yearning for a partner, there was another survivor that had climbed up the castle. While Chance was invested in his thoughts, a figure slowly approached him and poked his back, getting a slight yelp from Chance’s mouth. “Hey! What’s the big idea, man?!” Chance says as he turns behind him. Before him was no other than Shedletsky, the man himself. “Hey. Aren’t you supposed to be on the front lines? Our Elliot’s dying out there…” Shedletsky replies. “Oh, right. I forgot we were in the middle of a round. I’ll go find him, you should be out there helping him too, you know!” Chance says as he prepares himself to drop. “I’ve already done my part. Go out there, you gambler!” Before Chance could fully prepare himself, Shedletsky had pushed him off making Chance fall.
Thankfully fall damage isn’t part of this hell hole, otherwise Chance would’ve had several broken bones from that fall. He didn’t mind it though, he needed that push anyways. He was getting too invested in his thoughts and genuinely needed to be some kind of help to the others. As he tried looking for Elliot and the killer, he eventually found another survivor running around. There were two of them, Builderman and 007n7. He paid them no mind, after all, they weren’t the survivor he was looking for. Eventually, he managed to find Elliot. They were getting chased by Jason during the early round and UNTIL now. But he was accompanied by a bunch of people, Dusekkar, Guest, and Two Time were trying to get Jason to stop following Elliot around. Seeing the fact that he’s still chasing him up to this point, Chance doubted if their efforts were really worth it.
With one move, he took out his flintlock and aimed it towards Jason who was conveniently running in a straight line. And with one trigger, he shot him. Jason wasn’t stunned for a long time, after all Chance wasn’t that near him but it did catch his attention. He stopped his pace and immediately looked over at Chance. Knowing what’ll happen next, Chance immediately ran the other way. It was always like this, he shoots and he immediately gets chased. How come Shedletsky was able to run away freely?! Guest and Dusekkar immediately left the scene to help aid Elliot and Two Time was running right behind Chance and Jason. Chance was running for his dear life while flipping his coin to test his luck on another charge on his flintlock.
Lady Luck wasn’t on his side, he wasn’t getting his 3rd charge despite already reaching weakness 10. That wasn’t the only unlucky thing, he was slowly getting tired of running too but Jason was still right behind him. Unable to do anything, Chance decided to do something risky and decided to attempt at dodging Jason’s attacks within close range. The probability of him getting hit and taking damage was high, but he didn’t have a choice. If Lady Luck really was on his side, he’d be able to get a third charge at this point. Jason eventually caught up to him and Chance began his plan on dodging his attacks despite being awfully near. Jason swung his machete at him and Chance immediately dodged it quickly.
He didn’t have much hope in the first place, after all, one hit and he’d immediately die. His weakness 10 was no joke. As he flipped his coin one more time, a loud “cling” chime played. Lady Luck was finally on his side. He had 3 charges on his flintlock and immediately shot Jason within close range, meaning that he’d be stunned for quite a long time. Chance used this time to run away and gamble for 3 charges just to get Hat Fix. He decided to run back to the castle to see if anyone, especially Elliot, was there. With just his luck, Everyone was there and he immediately asked Elliot if he could have his signature pizza. Elliot saw the state Chance was in and instantly gave him a slice.
“Hey, are you alright? Thanks for stopping him from chasing me throughout the entire map.” Elliot said to Chance. “Yeah, I’m fine. Luckily my life didn’t end during the time he was chasing me around.” Chance reassured Elliot. Though, he is right. He hasn’t died, at least not yet. He’s not bound to die any time soon since three minutes are almost up. That is if Jason doesn’t do an amazing clutch and magically kills every survivor within the match.
Lucky for him, everything turned dark and he was once again back at the log cabin sitting on a wooden chair alongside the other survivors of the match. Everyone had survived. A bit of damage was done, but luckily no one had died from it. Chance was back to his usual spot. Outside the log cabin and on the deck admiring the view given to him under the moonlight. This place was a great spot to think about a bunch of things. It was comforting and pleasing. For the first time, this was the only spot where some company was somewhat needed. It was like a spot for two, not one. Chance could hear the distant laughter and voices from the other survivors in the cabin as he sat alone on the deck looking above at the moon. Murmuring to himself, he says;
“Christ, could I just get some company right now?”.

Chapter Text
Chance continued to sit alone on the deck until someone walked towards him and covered his view. “Guess who!” The figure said teasingly. Chance had absolutely no idea who this was. He has a few guesses, but he’s not really positive that it’s entirely right. “Uhh…” Chance says hesitantly. He isn’t able to think of anything right with the way his thoughts are functioning as of now. Though, if he was able to guess right, he definitely thinks this is Two Time. Confident in his answer, he opens his mouth and puts both his hands over the figure’s hands. “Two Time, is that you?” Chance says quietly. He was greeted with silence until… “Yup! It’s me! What are you doing all alone here?” The person that sneaked behind him was truly Two Time.
He had nothing against them but they did give him an odd gut feeling. Chance just doesn’t want to think too much about it. “Heh, the round last time wasn’t really anything life threatening. I want something to give me adrenaline, ya’ know?” Chance replies to Two Time. He had nothing else to tell them really. He didn’t even think someone would go looking for him in the first place. And he truly didn’t expect that someone to be Two Time. Not that he minds really, it was just… really unexpected. “Oh, right. Wasn’t that chase with Jason enough to give you that feeling? I mean, you ran for your life didn’t you?” Two Time continues. “Yeah, but isn’t it how it always is nowadays? We just keep running for our lives while we’re just stuck in this abysmal hell.” Chance replies back, he had basically changed his position to be more comfortable and ended up laying on the wooden deck with his arms behind his head.
“Well it isn’t overall bad here. I mean, we’re all going to be saved by Spawn sooner or later! We mustn’t lose hope yet. Oh, speaking about Spawn…” Two Time stops talking and starts looking for something around the sand. They then start to dig at some place near a rock and eventually take out a book. Chance just lays there, confused. Just what in good name is this guy doing? “Here! I hid a journal tackling all about our Lord and Savior, Spawn! You’d give it a read wouldn’t you? Eventually you’ll end up joining our religious family and you’ll be spared from Spawn’s wrath!” Two Time exclaims while basically shoving the journal on Chance’s face. Chance immediately shoved back the journal to Two Time’s face and said “Haha, perhaps I might one day, big guy. “ And with that, Chance starts to sit up and stand to walk towards the log cabin where everyone was. “Hey, you coming?” He says looking back towards Two Time. “...” a silence was all there was between Chance and Two Time.
“Yeah, I’m on my way!” Two Time says running towards Chance.
As both of them walk together towards the log cabin in silence, Chance suddenly feels his brain go blank and his legs unsteady. Luckily, Two Time was there to accompany him. “Hey! What’s happening? Are you okay?” They ask him. But for once Chance didn’t know what to say. Hell, he doesn’t even know what’s happening right now. It all just happened so suddenly that even he himself wasn’t expecting it. Before he knew it, everything had faded black. A round had started. They were now in a different place, the Glasshouse.
The place was dark and they were surrounded by trees and a barrier wall blocking them from walking out to the void and eventually ending themselves. Chance and Two Time spawned right beside each other with Two Time still aiding Chance with standing up properly. Once Chance managed to actually stand with his own two legs, he told Two Time they didn’t need to be near him and suggested they should go help the others with the generators and everything. “Oh Spawns forbid I leave you here! Who knows what could potentially happen.” Two Time reasoned with Chance. Eventually, Chance didn’t know how to react to this and just agreed out of instinct. He slowly managed to regain his consciousness and began to actually try doing some effort to help the team. Behind him was no other than Two Time, just following him wherever he was going. When Chance fixed a generator, Two Time was there to also fix it.
If Chance was maybe helping out another survivor then Two Time would be there in the scene running around trying to distract the killer or something. Chance found it somewhat nice for Two Time to try doing, but eventually after the killer gets fed up with chasing Two Time around, they immediately chase after Chance which makes it not worth it. But, he still found it somewhat useful to him. He appreciates what Two Time’s trying to do, he really does but… he’s just going to get targeted in the end so why bother… Though there are also times when he’s getting chased and Two Time immediately tries to take the killer away but some of them are just too persistent on removing or killing the gambler off first.
Something about this makes Chance somewhat happy. He enjoys the company Two Time gives him during the rounds and during breaks. Eventually, he finds himself becoming more and more friendly towards Two Time but he still finds them somewhat sick in the head from time to time. Despite them being basically obsessed with some god named Spawn, they were great to have as a buddy. They would sometimes listen to Chance and even help him when trying to distract the killers away from any of the supporters or anyone in a lethal situation wherein they’re close to death. If anything, the both of them made a great duo.
As more and more rounds roll in, Chance and Two Time would find each other and immediately get to their stations. If no one was doing the generators, they would do it together. If someone was in desperate need of help and aid, they would immediately go to the front lines and battle. Well, not really a battle, but you know what I mean. Though, it wasn’t as if the change wasn’t obvious. Many of the other survivors started noticing it too. They had gotten to realize that Chance and Two Time, despite being very different, became extremely close with one another. It was as if they were best friends at this point. But they weren’t entirely close. If given a chance, they would interact with one another. But that chance was more like a rare occurrence. During rounds they would interact, but during their breaks? Barely.
Though, this didn’t really bother the both of them, at least that’s what Chance would like to think. In his opinion, he didn’t really care much. He appreciates the company, sure, but he doesn’t yearn or depend on it too much. If anything, Two Time was just there, and that was enough to make him happy. A match had ended and Chance had the sudden feeling of leaving the log cabin everyone resided in. For once, he felt like he needed to distance himself from everyone. He wanted some alone time. He went to the usual place, the lonesome deck that’s surrounded by the soft sand and shallow waters. Eventually, he got there and sat alone. Looking at the moon’s reflection through the water, he dug himself in his thoughts.
Until now, despite hanging around with Two Time for quite some time, he still doesn’t understand why. Just why would Two Time spend half their time hanging around with him? They could waste their time on other stuff aside from them accompanying Chance. It made Chance question things. It made him curious as to why Two Time suddenly started to slowly but surely befriend him. At first, Chance thought Two Time disliked him a little. He thought that Two Time didn’t find him interesting at all, thinking he was boring. So, they distanced themselves from him. Eventually, the more Chance thought about this, the lonelier he felt.
Nobody bothered to talk with him unless he looked down or upset. If he wasn’t, no one would strike a conversation with him. No one spoke with him with the intention of just… talking with him, having a fun conversation with him. This made him feel even more lonelier. He’s surrounded by so many people and yet he feels so alone. Isn’t that just sad? With nothing to do, Chance decides to look around, digging the same place Two Time was digging right before that one round had started. Eventually, he reached his goal, the journal Two Time had made that was all dedicated towards the lord Spawn. He opened the journal and was greeted with a polaroid picture. “Best Friends!” it says.
Chance wondered who the person beside Two Time was, but he didn’t bother to ask. It wasn’t his business and it’ll never be. At least, not yet. He started to flip through the page and skimmed through everything. Two Time has been journaling and taking notes of Spawn whenever they were given a chance. In their free time, they would be nowhere to be found and would probably be busy writing down information. Chance admired that. The constant motivation, the urge… He loved how Two Time was invested in something that made them special. A thing that they promised to dedicate their life to. Sometimes, it makes Chance wonder. If he ever gained a partner, somebody he could love and depend on, someone that would accompany him no matter what, would he dedicate his life to them? To gain the same dedication he did with his “old” friend?
He doesn’t know. He’ll never know. He didn’t want to think much of it anymore, he didn’t want to think about anything else. So, he sat there. Skipping the next round and admiring the dark sky with tiny but visible stars. Nobody to accompany him except his own thoughts.
He sat alone, wishing that maybe one day… it’ll all change soon.

Chapter Text
Chance continues to sit on the deck, absolutely doing nothing but staring at the dark sky. Beside him was no other than the journal Two Time told him to give a read sometimes. He just didn’t expect that he was going to read it this early in life. Sure, the information there is sick, in a good way, but he doubts he’ll ever join the cult itself. Wanting to feel more comfortable, he decides to lay on the platform, his arms behind his head. All this thinking makes him sick. If he dives in too deep, he’ll eventually start thinking about “him” again.
If anything, he’d rather he wouldn’t think about him. He just wants to admire the stars, the moon, the entire sky itself. He wants to look at its beauty and conquer it, making it his. Before he knew it, he could hear voices and laughter from the cabin. It seemed like the round had ended and everyone was alive and well. Not that he could confirm, after all he wasn’t there to join. He wanted to go back to the log cabin, but something about the atmosphere of the place wanted him to stay. To stare continuously at the sky. He zoned out.
As he continued to look up at the sky, he didn’t realize that there was a person walking up towards him. Before he knew it, there was a figure right above his eyes, looking down on him. “Hey, what do you think you’re doing here?” The person asked. The man was no other than the hardworking yet caring pizza-boy, Elliot. “Oh, didn’t think you’d come looking for me.” Chance replies to him in a teasing manner. “Well, you weren’t present in the previous round. So, I got worried.“ The worker replies.
Chance didn’t really think of it as anything. But he appreciated his concern. He tells Elliot that he didn’t need to go look for him in the first place; saying that nothing could ever go wrong as long as he stayed near the log cabin that everyone resides in. That wasn’t enough to remove Elliot’s worries though. He knew that deep down, something about the way Chance is as of now, is different. He knows that something is wrong, he just doesn’t know what to do. “Well, if you ever need anything… Me and the others are here you know-” He says, pausing in his words. Not long, he resumes; “I noticed about you and Two Time.. you guys doing alright? Even they were worried that you weren’t there last round.“ Those words were enough to get a reaction from Chance. Really? Out of everyone? I mean, it’s obvious. I hung around with them to the point they must’ve felt my missing appearance. Chance thinks to himself. “Oh, yeah don’t worry. I just thought that maybe, maybe I could use a little break you know?” Chance replies to Elliot’s worry.
Not long, Elliot decided to sit down next to him. “What’s that journal about?” He asks out of curiosity. “Nothing really, Times shared this with me. It’s a journal dedicated to their god, Spawn.” Chance replies to him, still looking upwards towards the skies. “Spawn? You mean that… Yeah, you know what I’m talking about.” After Elliot said those words, the silence between them became loud. What was known as small talk became an awkward conversation between the two. They obviously didn’t know what to say with one another. “Hey.. are you sure nothing is bothering you?” Elliot eventually broke the tension, asking Chance another question.
But Chance’s answer was silence. He didn’t know what to really say. He contemplated, should he be honest and tell Elliot what was troubling his mind? Or should he stay quiet, keeping his thoughts to himself. He knows this isn’t the best thing to do, after all, he has quite the image dedicated to him. “The smug and confident guy, no issues could go past him” that’s how people viewed him. But to him, he was just… Chance. Nothing special, nothing great. He was just some guy with a gun. Eventually, he thought he shouldn’t keep it to himself anymore and became honest with Elliot.
“Well.. I guess there is something in my mind. Not bothering me, it’s just… It’s been there for some time. I don’t know how to feel or even talk about it.” As Chance said those words, he shifted his position. He sat up with his legs in front of him with his arms hugging them. He dug his head in between and continued to look forward, avoiding any eye contact with the other. “Elliot, is it weird if.. Some person hangs around you all the time and it’s sudden and all. Like, you don’t interact with them and yet.. They’re just there.” Light red was visible on the tip of his ears. It wasn’t as if anything romantic was happening, he was just embarrassed. In Chance’s vision, this was considered “embarrassing”.
“Is.. this about Two Time?” Elliot ends up looking at him, his head facing his way. What greeted him was silence. Chance knew Elliot was right but… something within him didn’t want to admit it. I mean, out of everything he could worry about, it was Two Time. But if he wanted this worry of his to really go away, then it would be best if he becomes honest with Elliot. “Yeah, kind of. I mean- it is about them. I mean, I don’t know anymore. We became somewhat friends, but in my opinion I guess only I think of it that way. I don’t want to consider them a friend if they…” Chance pauses.
He doesn’t know what to say. A part of him wanted to tell Elliot everything, rant about his feelings. Tell him everything that’s been worrying him. But there was another thing stopping him. His guilt, memories, his experience. If he tells Elliot everything, he wonders if he would be burdened, having to deal with what Chance had just told him. He didn’t want that. If anything, he should be thankful that Elliot is willing to listen to him talk and talk. Willing to listen and talk.
It scared him. It gave him the feeling of something.. nostalgic. A feeling he didn’t want to experience again. It reminded him of something, no- someone. Someone he didn’t want to remember but yearns to recall. He wants to be reminded of them, he misses them to a point he wished he hadn’t. Someone he adored, somebody he loved. Before he knew it, a memory replayed in his head.
“Hey! What are you doing all alone there? C’mon, the firework show is about to start!”
Chance remembers this day. That’s right, the fireworks. What was he doing previously? He doesn’t know. He walks towards the figure calling out to him, following their steps. They eventually end up on an empty hill, just the both of them. The two of them alone. Chance faces his head to the mysterious person, wondering who they possibly could be.
It didn't take long for him to not recognize that face. That iconic ice blue crown that matched with his vest, that voice.. How could Chance not have recognized him? It was his adored one, his friend, his closest friend; ITrapped. "Hey, are you alright?" Itrapped asked Chance, a worried tone was heard from him. It sounded so genuine, sincere, as if he truly meant it. He slowly positioned himself to sit closer beside Chance, closing their distance. "Earth to Chance? Hey, talk to me." Itrapped says as he puts both his hands at Chance's shoulders. But no words could come out from Chance's mouth. He knows what happened, he knows how he got into the hell he’s in. Itrapped was all to blame, he was the villain in everyone's eyes. But to Chance, it didn't matter.
Nothing ever mattered when it was between the two of them. Rumor after rumor, countless lies and gossips he would hear about his friend Itrapped, he denied them all. Continuously calling him his friend, fighting for his innocence. Eventually, the future came to tell him everything. And it made him question a lot of things. Everything they went through, all those memories, was it just Chance that valued them? Did the times and memories Chance thought were special, did they mean nothing to him? He doesn’t know. He’ll never know. He never bothered to accept the truth, believing that his friend was the best person out there. Thinking that, he would never take advantage of him. But he was wrong.
He was so wrong. He expected everything but all he received from them was nothing. His smile, the smile he cherished, the smile he yearned for. It was never genuine. It was never real. Itrapped hated him from the beginning. The more they stayed with one another, the more that hatred grew. His despise, his anger, the rage he had contained but hidden from Chance. After everything, Chance’s eyes opened. He knew Itrapped was never genuine with him, telling himself he isn’t worth it. He isn’t worth missing. And yet, a piece of him disagrees. His hope, stopping him from truly hating his once beloved friend. A part of him still denied everything. Continuously asking himself; what if Itrapped, despite everything he felt towards Chance, at least considered him a friend at some times.
But he also knew that his feelings and thoughts were wrong. Itrapped never cared, he just liked to imagine he did. He wanted to delude himself into thinking so.
Looking back at his cherished memory of Itrapped, he looks at him face to face. Chance placed his hand on Itrapped’s face, caressing his cheek. This takes Itrapped by surprise, after all he wasn’t expecting the suddenness with Chance. With one final thing in Chance’s mind, he gives his forehead a soft peck and returns to the wooden deck where he and Elliot sat. The silence between the two was loud. “I think Two Time does think of you as a friend. After all, if they approached you, then that would mean they have the intention of being your friend.” Elliot reassures Chance, noticing that he had snapped out of the daze he was previously in. “I’m sure that they don’t mean anything.” He continued his words.
This didn’t do much, but it comforted Chance. It made him happy that Elliot was truly trying to look at the situation in a positive way. Maybe it was just Chance that made everything negative. He was letting it get the best of him. As Chance opened his mouth to say something, Elliot cut him off. “Listen, you don’t really have to say much. You think that Two Time might be, well, not genuine with their actions right?” Elliot continues to look at Chance, checking if his summary was right. With that, Chance nodded. He’ll admit it, he is worried because of Two Time. He didn’t want to emotionally attach himself to somebody that might feel burdened with it. That’s why he didn’t understand whether Two Time was being genuine with him, to truly be his friend. “I doubt Two Time is the kind to take advantage of someone. Well, from what I’ve experienced when hanging out with them. I think they genuinely want to be your friend, Chance. A companion.”
Chance would be lying if Elliot’s word didn’t give him assurance. Comfort even. But he still didn’t know what to say. He didn’t know the words that could let Elliot know he was there, listening to his words and agreeing with him. “Hey, listen. Chance, if you really want to. You could go and befriend Two Time. You know, take their offer for it. You don’t have to but knowing how this is troubling you, you want to, don’t you?” Chance nodded once again. He puts his legs down and places his arms behind him. Still avoiding any eye contact with Elliot. “I just.. Don’t want to burden them with me being their friend.” Chance finally says. “I don’t think they’ll be burdened, and if they are then the both of you could take breaks from one another time to time. You guys don’t have to continuously talk with one another.” Elliot continued. “It’s hard to keep up with friends, but it’s even worse if you have nobody.”
Elliot was right. He had a point and Chance knows he does. So, he’ll let Elliot know. He’ll tell him that he’s truly there to listen. That he’s there listening through every kind of advice he had given Chance and that he’s really thankful about it. “Yeah, you’re right. Maybe I should give it a shot, huh?” With that, Chance looks at Elliot, confident. Their eyes were looking at one another, finding words within themselves. “Well, what are you waiting for? Everyone’s in the cabin. Especially.. You know who.” Elliot says, letting out a playful giggle. His words were supposed to be in a teasing manner, to tease Chance about Two TIme. And this clearly got a reaction from Chance. Elliot stands up, reaching his hand out to Chance.
Chance had finally gotten himself back on track. He looked at Elliot and back at what was in front of him. He was filled with hope, joy even. “Yeah, let’s go.” holding Elliot’s hand and helping him get up. “So.. just when did this start?” Elliot asks out of curiosity. “Haha, some things are better off when you don’t know them.” Chance says in a joking manner. Elliot didn’t try to budge, he just let Chance be Chance. He lets him be himself. Nothing made him any happier, well kind of. The two walked towards the log cabin and were greeted by everyone. Before they spotted the two, it seemed like they were focused in a conversation, everyone had their own circle. What caught Chance’s attention was Two Time talking with both Builderman and Shedletsky, laughing around. Eventually, they spotted both Chance and Elliot enter the cabin. Chance had gotten a bunch of “I was so worried!” or “Where were you the entire time?!” from everyone. And for once, he was glad. He was happy that everyone cared about him.
He was glad that he had people he could consider as his “friends”. But something still stopped him, someone he wished to linger on.
Chapter 4: Realization.
Summary:
Two Time and Chance forms a new friendship, and the other cabin members are curious to know about it. Builderman and Shedletsky approach Two Time with interrogations and questions about their bond and status with Chance. Eventually, this makes Two Time realize a few things here and there.

Chapter Text
Two Time didn’t have much to do whenever it was break time. If anything, they should be thankful they were given breaks by Spectre themselves but… with this less of a place, they doubt they could do anything productive. They could take a walk outside the cabin that they sleep in, or even try learning how to fish. Despite the lack of activities, they could make it somewhat fun of a stay for them here. But even with activities planned, they really didn’t want to do all of those. Usually they would sit alone, writing and journaling away any information dedicated to Spawn or some sorts. If not that, then they’d be thinking about the way their life is set as of now, reflecting.
But, they didn’t need to do much of those anymore. They managed to find comfort in a person, a being. Somebody they considered a “friend”. That person was no other than Chance. To the others’ perspective, this was something unexpected. Not many thought that Chance and Two Time would ever interact with each other. I mean, there were times when Chance would try to do small talk, but Two Time didn’t seem to show any bit of interest. So, no one really bothered to talk with them ever since then. But they didn’t completely shut them off, they would talk with them from time to time, but not every time. Interacting with Chance was probably a new experience for them. Well, not really, they’ve spoken with a few others but with somebody like Chance? Definitely not.
They would take notes of the way he acts, he’s selfless despite acting “selfish” when he’s around others. He had an image, and Two Time knew his vision. Every now and then, whenever a match began he would immediately look for Two Time. Two Time didn’t get why but, when they did find one another they would always stay close. Well, at least Chance does. Two Time tends to try and make themselves somewhat useful for the team, so they would run around looking where everyone is by themselves. But with Chance, he’d follow them wherever. This was enough to make Two Time think of things. Mostly the question; why? Out of everyone he could cling on, why them? They didn’t know the reason why, but because of that, they wanted to know why. They wanted to know why Chance chooses them instead of the usual choice, like Elliot or Shedletsky. Maybe even Dusekkar.
But that didn’t strike them that much of interest, after all they could be doing other things. Like doing their daily journal, updating information and their failed schemes to honor His greatest, Spawn. As Two Time stands up and opens the door isolating them from the open public, they feel their legs weaken, unable to truly stand with their vision blurring. Before they knew it, a round had begun. They opened their eyes and they were brought to the usual spot; Yorick’s Resting Place. Two Time had heard of Yorick before, it was that puppet that the higher ups used to hold a Halloween event. Unfortunately, people took advantage of it and used it for their own gains. Because of that, Yorick had to be destroyed, never gaining a return.
‘Maybe they should’ve prayed to Spawn for a second life.’ Two Time thinks to themselves. I mean, if they did, perhaps Spawn could’ve given them a second chance in life. A chance where their body wouldn’t be used for personal gain. But, that was only Two Time’s opinion on things. Looking around their surroundings, they noticed there was a medkit right beside them. They took it just in case they might find someone who needs it. Eventually, they got back on the right track and tried to locate where they possibly could be. They weren’t far, if anything they were in the famous; Yorick’s house.
They knew that if they just stood there doing absolutely nothing, the current killer would just immediately find them. So, they ran outside and did the usual, looking for Chance. On their way, they found various generators, people running around, and other more but none of them was Chance. Chance was nowhere to be found. This was enough to worry Two Time. Maybe he had just skipped the round or died early, either of those options would be bad. Did he skip because of them? Did they do something wrong? They hope they didn’t and even if they did, they’d ask him about it – no, they probably won’t.
They walked around the map, but to their surprise the killer was nowhere to be found. They went place to place, from the graveyard to the shrine, and back to the two story house itself. No threat was there aside from the poisonous waters. The killer was not present within the round. So, they decided to reunite with the other survivors to see if maybe Chance was there, still in denial that their theories were wrong. But to their disappointment, the gambler was not there. “Two Time! Over here!” They could hear someone reaching out to them, calling their name.
To their surprise, it was Builderman and Shedletsky. Curious and interested in why they called them, they approached them. “You called?” They say with their usual and iconic grin. “Yeah! You don’t mind hanging around with us for now right?” Shedletsky replied in a playful manner. Two Time didn’t mind, but they were curious to why. Out of everyone, why did they want to talk with them? Two Time tried to not think of it too much and gave them a nod. “I don’t mind, though if I could ask, there’s something of the matter, is there not?” Two Time knows something is up. It’s not usual for them to call out Two Time unless they wanted something, especially builderman. So in their perspective, they knew that the both of them wanted something from them, and they’ll oblige.
“Oh nothing much really. We just got curious about something.” Builderman stated. “Yeah! What he said. You don’t hate questions do you?” Shedletsky said while gently bumping his elbow into Two Time’s arm in a playful manner. “Oh? What do you have for me?—” Two Time paused while asking with curiosity in their voice. “— I’m sure I’ll be able to help you with such.” With that they gave the two their iconic grin.
“Well..” Builderman was hesitant. He didn’t know how to approach this kind of conversation with Two Time. But Two Time did have a point, the two of them did have business with them. “We—” Builderman was immediately cut off by Shedletsky covering his mouth with his hand. “You and Chance are awfully close now, ‘something great happening?” Shedletsky locked eyes with Two Time. If he was curious and interested about something, he’d immediately want to know about it. That’s how Shedletsky always was. This caught Two Time off guard. They weren’t expecting them to be curious about the friendship they had established with Chance. But that didn’t mean they weren’t willing to answer. “Chance and I? I suppose we got along with similar interests and hobbies. Why are you asking?” Two Time continues to push forward with questions.
Builderman finally took Shedletsky’s hand away from his mouth and began to speak. “Sorry if that sounded rude. What we meant to ask was; why? Why are you guys getting close with one another?” Builderman replied dissing Shedletsky’s statement. When others deal with these kinds of situations, they’d immediately know how to reply. But to Two Time, this was a first. Just why did Chance actually want to be close with them in the first place? Not even they know the reason why. They thought that Chance’s “eagerness” in a friendship with them was an invitation, so they reciprocated back. They think of him as a friend but even Two Time doesn’t know if he does consider him as a friend.
“To that question my answer may depend. Not even I know the reason why Chance thought of the option to befriend me.” Those were the only words Two Time could think of. I mean, after all they weren’t sure why, nor did they ever ask. “Oh, so he just approached you out of nowhere then? Seems like a Chance thing to do..” Builderman replied while looking away. “Nah, I’m sure there’s a more in depth reason to why. Buddy may seem friendly, but he doesn’t go at it for this long.” Shedletsky joined in, placing his hand over Two Time’s shoulder. “I’m sure he has some kind of motive lurking around—” Shedletsky stopped himself, then resumed, his head facing towards Two Time and locking eyes with them again. “—Maybe he even likes you.” He continues with a mischievous snicker.
Builderman takes Shedletsky away, thinking that he was disrupting Two Time’s space from how silent they were. But in all honesty, that final sentence was what kept them quiet. The idea of Chance liking them in the slightest wasn’t entirely impossible, but it wasn’t really possible either. After all, it all goes back to that one question; why? There was nothing interesting with Two Time, nothing that could be proved as a way to be romantically interested in them. Doubt consumed their soul and denial was coming right after. Shedletsky and Builderman noticed Two Time zoning out and tried their best on bringing them back to their senses. “Hey, Earth to Two Time? You doin’ okay?” Shedletsky asks while knocking on their forehead with their index finger. Eventually, Two Time got back to their senses and almost forgot what was happening. They apologized stating that it was a normal occurrence and that the two shouldn’t worry.
Builderman tried to ease the awkward tension between the three by cracking up a simple joke, but that just made the air quiet. Shedletsky decided to go back on track and continued the questions. "So you really don't know why he's hanging out with you?" He asked them. "I truly apologize, but I doubt I have the slightest idea to why." Two Time answered his question with calmness present in their voice. Builderman begins to dive into his thoughts, trying to figure out a possible answer to this. And Shedletsly? He's just there looking around. Eventually, something made him snap out of his daze. "Hey, wasn't Chance kinda involved with that Itrapped guy?" This made Two Time interested. After all, they could maybe even use this information to get closer with Chance and enhance further their bond. "Hm? Itrapped? You mean that guy that ruined the economy for quite some time..?" Builderman continues, knowing what Shedletsky is tackling about.
"Yeahh! That ice guy! Gosh, he sure was a hassle to clean up after." Shedletsky replies back. The both of them had almost completely forgotten about Two Time being here if it weren't for the feeling of their iconic gaze. "Sorry, we were talking about this one bug exploiter guy. Him and his friends kind of messed around with stuff and me and Shedletsky had to take care of it, along with the other admins." Builderman reassures Two Time's confusion. "I see. But what did this.. 'Itrapped' person have to do with Lady Luck's disciple?" Two Time asks, tilting their head a bit while remaining their usual calm demeanor with a smile. "Well.. we barely know much. Chance mentioned it before but..." Builderman looked hesitant. Debating if he should tell Two Time the information he has or to keep quiet about it. "-Chance didn't really seem happy if we brought him up." Shedletsky continued Builderman's words.
Before the three even knew it, their legs felt weak and everything faded black. They were all seated at the long wooden diner table. Each of them occupying the seat present, except one, Chance's. His spot was empty. It confirmed Two Time's theory of Chance skipping the current round, but at what cost? Everyone adjusted, once their brain realized they were back at the lobby, they went through their own separate ways. Elliot went outside, Dusekkar and Taph headed upstairs, Noob and 007n7 were just lounging around on the chairs. Two Time just remained seated. Not wanting to go anywhere else, they sat on the hair given to them. With that, they dove into their thoughts. Who was this Itrapped guy? What kind of relationship did they have with Chance? If it seemed complicated then maybe an ex-best friend? An old acquaintant? Or maybe even... Two Time, snap out of it! Even if they seemed special to Chance, what do you even have to say for it? It's not as if you're in a relationship with the guy.
‘You’d just like wishing you were.’ A voice entered Two Time’s brain. It was the voices again. The ones that slowly drive Two Time mad or make them realize a few things here and on. There are times when it’s company is welcomed and unbothered, but the more it talks the deeper it goes.
As Two Time continued to zone out, Shedletsky and Builderman took notice. Snapping their fingers in sync to grab Two Time’s attention again. Two Time was back in reality. “So.. are you still interested in hearing more?” Shedletsky asked them with a mischievous smile. “Oh, right. Sure. What more information do you have?” Two Time asked, tilting their head a bit to the side. That was enough for Shedletsky to start conversing, talking. Builderman would join in too, to fix some of his words or to clarify some stuff with the both of them. But throughout the entire conversation, one word repeated. A word that kept coming back to their ears. A name. Itrapped.
Two Time should listen, they should listen to what they can learn more about Chance. If they wanted them to interact with one another without an awkward silence, they should listen. And yet something keeps pulling their attention away. Itrapped. Who is he? What’s so special about him? What was he to Chance? What did he do with Chance? Question after question, Two Time doesn’t know what to do anymore. Even if they did, why? Out of everything they could possibly do, out of everything they could think about. Why were they so invested with Chance? Invested with what his past background has to say about him. The reason why he is the way he is now. Out of everyone and everything, why Chance? Why is it that every time Chance enters their train of thoughts, they begin to care so much? Why is it that when he’s there, they’d feel the emotion of joy. Happiness. When he talks, they actually feel like listening to everything he has to say. And when they talk, the look in his eyes, the genuineness. It makes them feel like someone is there for them. Someone that’s there to listen to whatever they have to say without any judgement.
Just what is this feeling?
Two Time doesn’t hate it, but they don’t like it either. They don’t know what it is and that’s what they’re scared about. The fear of not knowing what’s happening. The fear of the unknown. But all would go away with a simple reassurement. A simple voice. All their fears and pains would go away when that person was there. When he was there.
Familiar footsteps were heard outside, by the time Two Time snapped back to reality, everyone was greeting one another. Question after question. On the doorway were two people, Elliot and…
"I see."
If people could return to moments whenever they pleased, Two Time would've taken the chance to say all the words they wanted to say. But maybe next time. There's always next time.
---------------------------------------------------------
“Ooo, look who’s all lovey-dovey eyes over Chance. “ Shedletsky said teasingly. Two Time snapped back to reality, trying to focus on what’s currently happening. Builderman was there, silently giggling about what Shedletsky said. “So, ‘you sure nothing is happening between you two?” Builderman asks Two Time. They took notice, their face slightly showing a tint of red, not realizing what Shedletsky had said earlier. “I’m…” Two Time hesitates and pauses on their words. “I’m sure nothing is going on between us.” They continue on their sentence.
The two then begin to scheme and laugh, making Two Time quite worried for what they have in mind. “Well, you could always approach him, you know?” Builderman says. “Maybe even get close with him.” Shedletsky joined in. With synchronised thoughts the both of them say; “But it’s all up to you.”
“If you ever want someone to listen to or perhaps help you, me and Mr. Toolbox are always here.” Shedletsky says to Two Time with a smug look. With that, the two walk away from Two Time. Builderman arguing with Shedletsky for calling him “Mr. Toolbox” as they walk away. Two Time was alone there. Left behind. With their words lingering in their brain.
“But it’s all up to you.”

Chapter Text
There are times when words are better off without being said. Times when maybe saying nothing could give the future a better view. To protect your views and beliefs. Or to even protect yourself from the emotional pain you’d have to bear when saying such things. Two Time knew this. They know the benefits of being quiet. They know when to keep quiet and when to speak up. After realizing the ache in their heart, the feeling of yearning. Everything was felt towards their friend Chance, and they hated it. They didn’t like the fact that they thought they were deserving to go for someone like Chance. After everything that had happened with them, past romances and stories, are they truly deserving of love? After what they had done?
‘Go back. Hide away. Go to some place where no one will find you.’ The voices whisper. Quiet but loud enough to be heard by one person. It was telling them to retreat, to isolate themselves once more. To close their hearts to potential. Distance themselves from everything, even if it’ll cost themselves pain. Everything will get better anyways.
Everything will be better alone.
All will be well.
All will be well?
“But it’s all up to you.”
Those words lingered in Two Time’s brain. Their future is up to them to decide. Their decisions, choices, everything they could do was up to them. Even change. But once it's done, you can no longer revert it back. You can’t go back. You can wish, but it’ll never happen. You can’t return to the past, but it’ll always be there with you. To haunt you.
“ … Two Time?”
“ … Times …? “
“Two Time.”
Two Time snapped back to reality. Before them was no other than Chance. With a worried and concerned look present on his face. “Hey, you alright?” He asks in a gentle and genuine tone, careful to not accidentally scare off Two Time. “Oh. Chance. I’m fine, do not worry over me.” Two Time says, trying to catch their grip back on reality, giving Chance their iconic and usual grin. But Chance wasn’t stupid enough to believe the face present. He knows something is wrong, but he didn’t want to push any further, respecting Two Time’s space. “Right.. If you want anyone to talk to, you know who’ll be there.” Chance says, placing his hand on one of Two TIme’s shoulders and giving it a light pat. With that, Two Time just stands there. Chance knew they weren’t exactly the type to talk much, but when he looked back at their face he was greeted with a slight smile. A smile of pure genuine, thankful and comforted by Chance’s words.
It was a heavenly sight to experience if Chance had to say himself. Wanting to lighten up the mood, he wraps his arm around Two Time’s neck and says in a playful manner; “You look great in that smile! You should show it more often.” This was enough to catch Two Time off guard, a slight tint of red present on their face. “Do you.. Truly think that?” Two Time asks, their face slightly flushed. “Oh? Was that the first you heard someone tell you that?” Chance looks at them, with the usual smug smile he’s seen with.
“Was that the first you heard someone tell you that?”
It wasn’t.
They heard it from someone else before.
They just don’t want to tell him that.
“Well, I just didn’t expect to hear it from you.” Two Time tells Chance, trying to calm themselves and regain their composure. “So… You free later?” Chance asks Two Time. “Hm? What for?” They reply back, curiosity and interest present in their voice. “Just wanna spend time with you.” Chance says, looking away as if it’d cost him his life if he said those words while looking eye to eye with Two Time. He was embarrassed and flustered, but he knew why. Once again, taken aback by Chance’s words, Two Time’s eyes widen in shock, not expecting such things from Chance. “Out of everyone, Lady Luck’s disciple is who wishes to accompany me?” Two Time says in a teasing manner, giving Chance the same energy he gave them earlier. And if that didn’t surprise Chance, then his feelings must’ve died. “So, is that a yes?” Chance asks, their smug grin present.
Nothing could’ve made Two Time happier. To say yes meant they could spend more time with Chance. But did they really want to? If they said yes, would Chance also be as happy as they would be?
Are they deserving of this?
“... Times? Are you sure you’re alright?” Chance asks again, worried present in his voice. They have to say no. They can’t bring themselves to hurt another. Anyone but Azure? Chance. They can’t hurt him. If they don’t want to ruin him, everything about him, they had to leave. To distance themselves. To run and get away. “Sorry, I don’t think I can accompany you for some time. I’m.. quite occupied with other duties.” Two Time replies to Chance, hesitant but sure. “Oh, so you’re busy.. It’s alright! Maybe you wanna hang out some other time?” Chance says with the sound of disappointment apparent in his voice while he tries to remain composed. “No, you–..” Two Time tried looking for the words to enter their mouth. The perfect words that tell Chance to go away. To stay as far as possible from them. Two Time’s mouth stayed slightly open, their body and thoughts consumed with hesitance.
“Right. I’ll tell you when I’ll be free.”
What a lie.
Days passed, weeks even. Chance would try to find Two Time and invite them if time spared them mercy. But Two Time would make up excuses, their lies further distancing themselves from the bond the two once established. Excuse after excuse, and lie after lie. Two Time couldn’t keep doing it anymore. Was this really the best decision they could’ve possibly gone for? It wasn’t. But Two TIme was desperate. They wanted Chance to get away from them, to gain a reason to avoid and potentially hate them. But even so, why does their heart ache in pain more painful than the last? As if it were crumbling and breaking into tiny pieces. They did this to themselves.
With a situation like this, it was them who were to be blamed.
In the middle of the night, Two Time suddenly awakens from their slumber. Eyes wide in shock after an odd dream they had. It wasn’t anything special. If one word were to explain it, it’d be stupid. Everyone in the cabin had locked hands and started spinning around as a tornado struck them. With a slight grumble, Two Time’s stomach growled for food. Two Time stood up and walked towards their door, opening it and closing it silently, making sure it didn’t wake up the others. As they headed down the stairs, they were met with another figure. It was another cabinmate, Noob. Hearing the slight wooden creak on the stairs, Noob’s attention went from their half eaten sandwich to the stairs, spotting Two Time. “Oh! Two Time? What are you doing out of your room so late?” Noob asks, placing down their sandwich. “Nothing really. I woke up and felt hungry.” Two Time replies, giving him their iconic grin.
“Oh… So you got hungry too..” Noob replies back, shyly. Embarrassed as they looked away facing back on their sandwich. “Are… are you guys doing okay?” Noob asks, with hesitance and worry apparent in their voice. “Hm? What are you talking about?” Two Time asked back, genuinely confused by Noob’s question. “Well… I-I’m not sure if I should share this with you.. But–” Noob pauses on their words. Unsure if they should share such information with Two Time or not. With a final deep breath, they resume; “Chance has been well… upset lately. I-I asked him why and..”
“-It was because of you.”
Two Time pauses. They stopped moving entirely after Noob had said those words. The only movement present was their eyes shaking, their chest thumping in unpredictable rhythm. They messed up again.
And it was all their fault. Two Time didn’t think this far in. They had hurt Chance in another way they hadn’t expected. No, they knew. They knew what had to be done. The only thing they underestimated was how painful it’d be to Chance. The possible impact it could’ve left on him. They didn’t think that Chance would care much. They thought that once he realized Two Time distancing themselves away from him, he’d just move on. Move on and go be friendly with someone else. They didn’t notice that something simple like Two Time distancing themselves from him would make him genuinely upset.
“S-sorry! I don’t mean to blame you or anything. I mean, I don’t really know what’s happening between you two… So I don’t have anything to say.” Noob says, noticing the silence between them and Two Time getting louder and louder. “It’s just… I’m worried.” They continue on their words, the feeling of worry present in their tone. “I haven’t seen Chance this upset before. So i-if you guys ever had a misunderstanding… I’m sure you guys can get it together!” They continued, from their once worried voice to an optimistic one, hopeful even, with the genuine intent of making the two reunite and become friends again. Friends without any issues. But Two Time knew better. This was the path they chose for themselves. To keep away from potential, from anything that might change their views.
They knew it was wrong.
They knew it’d be painful.
So why regret it now?
“I might be wrong but… I-I can see it in your eyes Two Time. You care, don’t you?” Noob says, placing one of their hands on Two Time’s shoulder. Noob looked at Two Time, not afraid to show eye contact anymore. They may not know much of the situation happening right now, but Noob was dedicated to at least help. “So, what’s wrong?” They ask Two Time again. But Two Time, despite every word of reassurance, was still hesitant. They didn’t know what to do. For once they didn’t want to run. They wanted to confront it. To make things right again. But something stopped them. Something that made them want to bottle it all up and keep it to themselves, to not seek any help or advice. The feeling to stay hidden, isolated; away from everything. It was similar to the feeling they felt during that day; fear, regret, burdened.
“I..-” Two Time says, their breath shaky, pausing on their own words, “-I don’t know anymore.” They say as they slowly look towards Noob. “Hey, it’s alright to not know sometimes, take your time.” Noob reassured them again, this time it was working. Two Time, with enough confidence, finally told Noob what they felt. Everything. The reason why they’re avoiding Chance. But they didn’t tell Noob the entire thing. They made sure that Noob knew what was happening, but they also made sure to not accidentally spill personal information. Two Time didn’t want to ruin Noob for it. “O-oh.. and because of that.. you’re avoiding Chance?” Noob asked Two Time wherein they nod towards the statement. “I’m sorry you had to go through that. I’m sure they were a great person.” Noob continues, placing their hand on Two Time’s shoulder.
You wouldn’t. If you knew what I had truly done, would you look at me the same?
“They were. If anything, they were probably the greatest one I ever had. Well, they were the only one I had.” Two Time replied, trying to add humor despite the seriousness around the air. “Y-yeah… But, I still do think you guys have to talk it out. I’m sure Chance will understand.” Noob says, noticing the attempted humor but not really knowing whether they should laugh or not. “If the both of you keep quiet about this, who knows what could happen.” They continue. Two Time knows the outcome. They know what could potentially happen to the relationship they’ve built with Chance.
“Hey-” Noob continues, making Two Time snap out of the daze they were in. “-If it ever goes wrong, I-I can do my best to help you guys. I’m sure the others would’ve done the same too! None of us wants to start quiet arguments when we’re all together..” Noob says, placing their hand on one of Two Time’s shoulders and gently patting it, showing a way of reassurance. Noob wasn’t wrong. They all had to stay with one another and create bonds. Ending up in a quiet fight with one of the members would make things awfully awkward. I mean, it was already happening with the outcast; 007n7, already. And Two Time doubts that they’d want the same treatment.
They’ve been here various times before. Outcasted, left out due to the way they are. And yet, they didn’t pay any mind. They didn’t care because they had someone to rely on. Someone that they could’ve depended on despite all the bad mouthed rumors aimed towards them. They didn’t care at all. But now they’ve lost it. They lost the only being that they could actually enjoy being with.
Are they really going to risk it all again?
Two Time immediately stood up from their chair, giving Noob a slight shock. Noob was confused, wondering what had struck Two Time’s mind. Then, without a second thought, Two Time moved back towards the stairs, looked at Noob and gave them a slight smile before quickly going back to the sleeping chambers. Noob was left there, surprised and speechless. What had just happened? Two Time reached the rooms and listened through the doors, wondering who could be possibly awake and who were already sleeping. Three doors had two people snoring, signaling that they were all asleep. Except for one door. It was Chance’s room.
Two Time listened through, making sure that they weren’t just mishearing it. But they were sure of it, there was no snoring, if anything there was slight shuffling - as if someone was trying to move stuff around. Two Time took a deep breath and prepared themselves. They wanted to make this right. They weren’t willing to lose someone special to them ever again. And so, they knocked on Chance’s door. From what was heard as slight shuffling, a loud bang was then heard before the door. Two Time’s instincts got to the best of them and they immediately opened the door out of genuine worry.
“... Times?” Chance called out Two Time’s nickname. Two Time looked at the mess before them. Chance had fallen off of his bed and had his playing cards scattered everywhere. His hats weren’t properly arranged and his coats were just all over the place. When Two Time saw the mess his room had to offer, even they started to feel bad for their own room. But, they had to remember why they were here in the first place. “Chance. Do you have a minute?” Two Time asked as they allowed themselves to enter his room. Chance panicked but eventually let Two Time in. “Sure, what do you need, buddy?” Chance says as he helps himself out. But as he looked up to look Two Time in the eyes, he was caught off guard at how near Two Time was. “W-woah buddy. You’re awfully close.” Chance stutters out, slight blush present on his cheeks. “Chance, we need to talk.” Two Time says as they walk closer to Chance, the distance between them barely existing.
“These past days.. I apologize, but I’ve been avoiding you within all my power. But, I wish to make it up to you.” As Two Time says this, they take Chance’s hands and bring it up to their heart to make him feel their heartbeat. “I, Two Time, wish to befriend you and make everything right for you.” Two Time continues their words. If Chance were to say this didn’t shock him, he’d be lying so bad his pants would be on fire. He was speechless. He didn’t even know what to say. The moment alone was too much for him to handle. The hand placement, the gentle yet comforting words, the way Two Time looked at his eyes with such seriousness, Chance couldn’t take it anymore.
Chance was a mess and he genuinely didn’t know what to do. Two Time noticed how red his face was getting and immediately dropped his hands. “I… I apologize. I must’ve made you uncomfortable.” Two Time says, pulling away as they turn the opposite way from Chance’s face. Shit, they messed up. Chance probably views them as a weirdo now. But in all honesty, Chance was far from calling Two Time a freak. If anything, he was calling himself the freak. “It’s alright.. I was just- caught off guard. Didn’t know you were touchy like that, ‘Times.” Chance says as he tries to compose himself, to show Two Time that he was the usual and smug Chance everyone knew him as. “So.. what’s with the sudden apologies? Did you feel bad or something?” Chance says as he made it seem like it didn’t bother him in the slightest.
But the two knew better, Two Time heard from Noob how much this pained Chance - and Chance doesn’t know how much longer he could pretend it didn’t bother him from the first place. “Just, reflected a bit.” Two Time says. “Will you be attending tomorrow’s match?” They continued. This surprised Chance once more. Two Time wasn’t the type to ask if anyone would participate in a round or two, if anything Chance doubted they were the type to even care from the beginning. “I mean, I’ll be there if you are.” Chance replies as he looks at Two Time’s eyes. His room was dark, the only source being the moon’s light. With Chance’s eyes, he’s sure he wouldn’t be able to see much. But the way the light reflected through Two Time’s eyes made him adore them. Two Time noticed the way Chance was looking at them and got worried. Was something wrong with their eyes? Two Time asked themselves. But soon, they were to then dismiss the thought as Chance’s eyes of wonder changed to something else. Adoration.
“Well, if that’s all you wanna talk about, we could keep talking more by tomorrow.” Chance breaks the silence. Ah, right. It was the middle of the night after all. Two Time thought to themself. “Of course, there is always another day.” Two Time replied. They then held the door’s handle and twisted it - opening the door and allowing the light from the hallway to enter Chance’s room. But before they left, Chance called their name once more. Two Time turned back and looked at Chance with curiosity present.
“Goodnight ‘Times.” Chance whispers, trying to avoid making as much noise as possible. And Two Time would be lying if they didn’t find it cute.
“Goodnight, Gambler.”
