Chapter Text
Her co-worker could just be the hottest man alive and somehow no one at the Planet was after him. It couldn’t be that working together stopped them, she’d never believed everybody got so ethical all of the sudden. Was he taken and she just didn’t know? Lois felt like she would know… they talked a lot, he would mention that, wouldn’t he?
Also, if she wasn’t delusional, he flirted with her, and he surely wouldn’t do that if he was taken. Clark would never do that.
“Wanna go grab some lunch?”
Even his voice was hot. It was ridiculous.
“Sure, let me just finish this…” Lois added the final sentence to her draft. She was about to do that before she saw Clark walking by and got distracted. “We can go.” He gave her his Hollywood smile and once again she wondered why he was working in journalism when he could make a fortune as a model.
“I was thinking about bagels around the corner.”
“Great.” She picked up her bag.
“So what are you working on now?” he asked on the way, being a little awkward which only made him look extra charming.
“A piece about corruption in the oil industry.” Though, she was pretty sure he already knew that and just wanted to talk to her.
“Amazing.”
“Is it?”
“I’m sure your article is going to be.”
It really felt like he wanted to fill the silence of walking through corridors with words. She didn’t think that was necessary, but she humored him.
“Em, Thank you. It turns out quite good. I’m trying to not make it too convoluted for anyone who hasn’t been following this case for five years.”
Anyway, he might’ve been having an off day, but his choice of bagels was impeccable. He led her to the same shop she visited two times a week for the last month.
“Do you have plans for tonight?” he asked, when they were right outside the shop door.
“Random Friday night? It’s no longer college, so no. Why?”
“Would you go out with me?” Huh? “On a date, I'm specifically asking you out on a date.”
For half a second she was too taken aback to answer and just stared into his pretty blue eyes with a hint of vulnerability in them.
“Yes… I would. Yes.” He smiled with such pure happiness and relief, it made her grin as well.
He looked away and combed his hair.
“Let’s get those bagels.”
***
Throughout the day she hasn’t really seen Clark, which wasn’t very weird, as he often worked out of office. Most of the time, actually. But of course, as expected, he texted her with an hour and the name of the restaurant where he got them a table.
Lois got second thoughts, because she always had second thoughts. Should she call it off? She shouldn’t be seeing her co-worker, certainly. From the ethical and logical point of view, they shouldn’t be going on any dates. There was no way around it, it was a bad idea.
On the other hand, Clark was tall, handsome, kind, and cute in a boyish way that she never suspected she would be attracted to. And she couldn’t wait to see him, she expected she would get at least a bit anxious about it, but she wasn’t. She wanted her work day to be over, she wanted to go home and change, and she wanted to go to that Italian restaurant and have dinner with him.
But first, she had to finish the copy.
***
She had some considerations to make. Did she want to dress in a way that would put her closer or further from sleeping with Clark? Not today, it didn't have to be today, but she had to decide whether that was the goal or not…
Maybe she was getting ahead of herself. Maybe it will be done after one night and an awkward week at work, a bad date number ‘who counts anymore’ for her. Maybe it didn’t really matter.
After getting through her closet, Lois picked a plain black dress that she looked good in, but not like she tried too hard to look good. This dress was fine, just perfectly fine, so she wouldn't feel stupid if it was indeed going to be a bad date.
She had sex on some bad dates though, so she wore some nice underwear just in case.
***
She was five minutes late because of traffic. She hoped he didn't think he was being stood up, because she had a feeling he'd be on time, despite how often he was late for work.
And yes, here he was, waiting for her on the pavement in front of the restaurant. She saw him from the taxi, smiling at her. He was wearing a new shirt and was freshly shaved. When she walked out of the car to greet him, she smelled cologne. He was putting effort.
“Shall we?” He opened the restaurant door for her.
The place seemed really nice, tastefully furnished, elegant, not overdone with fake Italian stuff and not too crowded. Okay, there was no point in kidding herself, she wasn’t that interested in the restaurant, she’d rather ask some questions to ease her surprise and confusion.
She picked pasta from the menu, and he went for ravioli. They politely conversed with the waiter and she was ready to fire.
“Why did you ask me out? Why now?”
Clark was crestfallen by her question.
“Because I like you, you didn’t know that? I thought everybody at the Planet knows. I’m very bad at hiding how I feel, that’s what I’m told all the time.”
“Okay, maybe… maybe I picked up on it a little.” But she didn’t believe he could be seriously interested in her. “But I didn’t think you’d be so unethical as to ask me out.”
“Well, you agreed, so now we’re in it together. And, if you’re asking me that, then I’ll ask: why did you agree?”
“I like you, and you’re very handsome. You get that a lot?”
“I feel like I should lie to be humble…”
“Don’t lie.”
“I do get that a lot.” Clark fixed his glasses. They made him look even more attractive, in an understated, off-duty way.
At least now that they were on a date it wasn’t out of place to contemplate how hot she found him.
“That's what I thought. Girls must’ve been all over you back in Kansas.”
He smiled in the most awkward way yet.
“It wasn’t like… it’s embarrassing, Lois.”
Before she embarrassed him any further, the waiter showed up again with their food and Clark asked her if she wanted wine. She said yes, and after a short while they got a bottle and two glasses on their table.
“And where are you from?” he asked.
“Oh, you don’t know?”
“Should I?” He poured wine into the glasses.
“I don’t know if you should, but people typically know of my father. Long story short, he’s a military man who’d rather have a son.” He looked more upset by what she said than she expected. “It’s fine, we don’t talk much anymore.” It didn’t help.
She shut up and tried her pasta. It was delicious.
“It sounds awful, I'm so sorry.” And he was so earnest, she never saw such a reaction when she mentioned her far from ideal family life.
“It seems so bad to you, because you call your parents all the time, so I assume you like them, but it’s really not that terrible, lots of people have it worse.”
“It doesn't mean it’s not bad.”
He was eating his food, and she drank her wine. Maybe she just ruined the mood and she wasn’t sure how to fix it.
“Anyway, I like this restaurant, have you been here before?”
“Yes, I live close by.”
She continued to drink her wine, and when her glass was empty he poured more into it.
“You’ve got a good taste.”
It made him smile again and it was just… he was so cute with those dimples.
“Thanks, I tried to pick something nice for you.”
She wanted to say he was more considerate than the last three men she tried to date put together, but she didn’t want to upset him again, so she just finished her pasta.
Maybe it wasn’t just that she didn’t want to upset him, she also didn’t want to dwell on every bad thing that ever happened to her when she was with him. Like he had a cheerful aura around him.
“How do you do that, how do you keep that uncynical sense of happiness?”
He shook his arms.
“I’m not sure what you mean ‘how I do that’, it’s not an action.”
“But it’s very hard, I couldn't do that.”
“Why?”
She didn’t expect him to turn the question against her.
“I don’t have that hope and innocence? And I don't know how you do that in our job, keeping up with the news from the world.”
“It doesn’t get me down, because I always think about what can be done to make things better.”
“And what do you do?”
“... a bunch of different stuff,” he said and turned to the waiter to ask for a receipt, as he had already finished his plate as well. “So, like I mentioned, I live nearby. If you’d like to drop by and get some desserts…”
Here it comes. She was a bit surprised, but she considered it and…
“Yeah, okay.”
Clark stupidly smiled. She expected nothing else.
Lois watched him pay for dinner and give the waiter a generous tip. He helped her from her seat and just like that they were on their way to his apartment. She didn’t have second thoughts about it, not really, though she could’ve been steered more by curiosity than horniness at the moment.
***
His place really was close. They just crossed the street and there was his building block.
“I didn’t take you for a guy who tries to get a woman to bed after the first date,” she said in the elevator, and it got him flustered.
“No… That would be great too! Don’t get me wrong, I'd love that if you want to… but wait, you aren’t drunk, right? In any case, that's not why. Yes, the desserts were an excuse, they are real but… It is some other reason why I asked you to come here. Sorry, it'll be easier if I'd lie, but I'm trying not to lie… We’ll talk in a moment, there are people in the corridor.”
“Are you kidding? I’m not drunk after half a bottle of wine.” The doors started opening. “And how did you know there are people in the corridor?”
He didn’t answer her, but walked onward and said hi to a couple living next door.
That was some serial killer bullshit. Why was she going with him? She shouldn't. If it was anyone else than Clark, she wouldn't. It was Clark though, and now she had to know what it was about.
Lois watched him open the door and followed him inside. The moment the door closed, he turned to meet her gaze and with a stern expression took off his glasses.
She froze in surprise, her eyes involuntarily open wide in disbelief. What? How?
“How the hell did I never notice you’re Superman?!”
“That’s how they work, they make you think it’s a different face.”
“Still, I should have…”
“You’d figure it out if you weren’t sure you knew how I look and that it’s different.”
She was at a lack of words. Not for long, but she was.
“And you told me on the first date?”
“...it’s not like we just met. Would you rather me keep it secret and string you along?”
“No..” she sighed. It was insane he trusted her so much.”What if I write an article about your secret identity?”
“You wouldn’t do that.” He was so sure, and she didn’t know why she deserved that. Also…
“You were giving yourself interviews all this time?! Are you trying to make it easier for people to put it together?”
“If they make a connection, they forget about it the moment they see me in those glasses.”
“I guess… If you say so.”
“Are you mad at me?”
She had to think about it for a second.
“No, not really. I’m just… shocked. You’re an alien? You said you were from Kansas.”
“Both are true. Wouldn’t you like to sit down?”
She followed him to the living room. His apartment was modern and nice, nicer than hers. Hmm, or rather it was way less cluttered and much cleaner than she expected any single man’s living space to be. He just didn’t have much stuff there, like he didn’t spend much time at home.
Clark, Superman… it would get some getting used to… gestured her to sit in the chair right below a huge window with a view of Metropolis. He sat in front of her, his magic glasses left somewhere in the anteroom.
“I’m from space, I'm also from Kansas. My planet, Krypton, was dying, so my parents sent me here to be safe and to keep humans safe. My Earth mom and dad found me in the field as a baby and adopted me. Do you have any questions?”
“What about those desserts you promised me?”
“I'll get them,” he answered with a surprised smile and got up.
It took him two or three minutes to show up again, still smiling and with two plates with hot croissants from the kitchen. His was already half eaten.
“Did you reheat that with your heat vision?”
“Yes, it’s faster than the oven.”
She took a bite, convinced it would be cold inside. It wasn't, it was filled with melted chocolate and tasted great.
“It’s really good… For how long were you planning to tell me?”
“I don’t know, since I wanted to ask you out.”
“And how long is that?”
He finished his croissant with two bites and explained.
“Maybe a month, two, I’m not really sure. I was going back and forth with it because of, you know, working together.”
She needed a bit more time than him to finish her dessert, but she also ate it quickly, because it was just so delicious. He took the plate from her and put the dishes back in the kitchen in a blink of an eye, literally. She only saw a white smudge of his shirt. When he was back, he continued on the subject.
"Every time I saw you I got out of focus anyway. I was thinking about you more and more. I like your energy, your confidence, you’re so beautiful.”
“I was wondering if you're into me...”
He bent down closer to her. The way he gazed upon her reminded her she came here with sex in mind. How would it feel… Now she had to find out. She leaned in closer.
“Can I kiss you?” Clark asked.
“Yes.”
He did and… she didn’t expect it to feel like that. It’s like he put the switch on from a hot nerd to a passionate lover. Fuck, he was a good kisser. He got her turned on, like, she was getting… She made the right choice coming here.
Lois put her hand on his chest and he moved even closer, his lips, his tongue making her want him more with every second. Even though he kissed her like his life depended on it, she was scared he was too shy to take it further, so she reached for the top button of his shirt. She felt him smile between the kisses.
“Do you want to take it to the bedroom?” he asked, looking in her eyes in a way that made her melt inside.
“Yeah, very much.”
Clark reached for her back and knees and before she knew what was happening, she was flown straight to his double bed with freshly laundered sheets in a bedroom that was just as neat as the rest of his home, her heels lost somewhere on the way.
He was right above her, with his hands on her waist, not supporting himself on his elbows, yet not putting any weight on her. That got her even more excited to learn how it felt to have sex with her apparently metahuman workplace crush. She felt like she should be weirded out about it, but it actually made more sense that he was Superman. Whatever was off about him finally clicked.
They were making out again as she slowly progressed with unbuttoning his shirt and discovering his unreal muscles, hard under her fingers, but not in an unpleasant way. His skin was soft, but underneath he was built differently.
His kisses, she never was with a guy who kissed as good as Clark. Maybe one… no, not even close. When he moved to her neck, she almost moaned. And she never moaned.
She reached for his shoulders to take off his shirt and see how great his abs actually were. Lois then tried to get on top of him, but he had to let her. He was levitating over her set in his place and she could not move him with a crane.
When he was shirtless and under her, she took off her dress through her head, thanking herself from a few hours ago for picking a nice set of black lacy underwear instead of a mismatched pair of whatever was on the top of her drawer. It made her feel much more confident sitting on a man who looked like a Greek god. She felt with her buttocks he liked what he was seeing.
He straightened up and they were open-mouth kissing again, with some dry-humping added. They paused for a moment when he unhooked her bra and she bit her lip, imagining feeling him inside her. He touched her nipples and she was so ready for him. She reached for his belt.
When they broke away from each others' lips she glanced at his face and it was clear how happy he was, with a genuine smile that reached his eyes. Truly, at this moment she wouldn’t believe he was capable of hiding his feelings at all. She herself… She felt like she should be thinking about what their working relationship is going to look like after it all comes crashing down, but she couldn’t force herself to worry about it. It felt like it wouldn’t come crashing down for once. It was Clark, it was fine, even if he was Superman.
She didn't know when he took off his shoes and socks, but it made it easier for her to take off his pants, or it would, if he didn’t do the job for her. When he took off his underwear and freed his nice, uncut dick, it was time for her to take off her knickers. It was happening and she couldn’t be more excited.
They lay on the bed facing each other, kissing again, but she had his rock hard cock in her hand, slowly jerking it, while he was… he fingered her and then put two of his fingers on her clit and made circles around it, but he was going so fast and was just getting faster…
“Does that feel good to you?”
“Mhm. Kiss me again.”
She was getting so elated, so close… She let go and let herself come under his super fast fingers. He slowed down before she came back to her senses, letting her ride the waves of pleasure while they kept kissing. She felt like she disconnected from reality for a moment, it felt so delightful.
“Now it’s your turn. You’ve got condoms, right?”
He opened a drawer in his nightstand, where he had a whole new unopened box that could have been bought with her in mind. She watched him put the rubber on and then get some lube.
“Get on top.” Lois did what he asked. He fit nicely inside her. She closed her eyes and waited for him to start thrusting. “This might take a while.”
“Don’t threaten me with a good time.”
He smirked at her and flew them up, floating above the bed. He straightened up to face her, so they could kiss again with her bestriding on his hips.
“If it feels uncomfortable, tell me.”
He began calmly, but soon started to move faster. Fast enough to make her wonder if what he said was true… he was the most durable man on Earth, though…
He started thrusting in her really fast, hitting some… nice spots repeatedly. It was feeling better and better and soon she was on the edge passing out from pleasure in his strong arms, so when he touched her clit again, she came within seconds.
Clark wasn’t done though, he needed more to finish and she was still going. She didn’t even know when one orgasm ended and another started.
They didn’t switch positions, he changed between super fast and normal human fast at times and she was just there for the ride. She couldn’t keep up with him anyway, so she just closed her eyes and let him do his thing as she was getting lost in what could’ve been one super long orgasm that she had no idea her body was even able to feel.
It did take quite long, though she lost track of time as well as her mind. When he came he got even harder for a moment, which seemed impossible. He slowly put them back on the bed. Breathing heavily, she got off him and lay on the mattress. She felt him embrace her waist and put his head right next to hers. He moved even closer to whisper in her ear.
“Go to the bathroom, I don’t want you to get an UTI.”
It made her laugh, but she listened to his advice and found the bathroom. When she came back he took two seconds to clean himself up in super speed.
“How did you like it?” he asked.
“Well, it was the first time I had freaky alien sex.”
“Me too.”
“Really?”
“I was always hiding my powers…”
She didn’t think of it before, but it checked out that he wasn’t trying to get laid as Superman.
“It must’ve been uncomfortable for you.”
“Yeah.”
“I loved it.”
He smiled at her and it… gave her chills?
“I have a spare toothbrush if you want to stay for the night. I can lend you some clothes."
She already imagined drowning in his shirt.
“Okay.”
Maybe in the morning they could get another go, unless the world’s on fire.
