Chapter Text
It was strange really, how quickly the tide can turn when you don’t pay attention for just one second.
One single second.
And yet, it was all Rumi needed to get hit by the weapon of a massive Demon the trio were fighting.
It had knocked her against a brick wall and the horrible pain came a few seconds afterwards.
She’d broken her arm and at least one or more ribs that had been fractured at the least if not broken too.
Not only that but she’d hit her head as well and red crimson was pouring freely from the gash that now decorated her face, just above her right eyebrow.
“Rumi!” Zoey screamed and quickly rushed to her leader’s side, dodging the Demon’s massive mace before it could hit her as well.
“Fucking bastard!” Mira growled, anger boiling within her and overflowing when she unleashed a barrage of attacks on the Demon, not caring about her own safety. “Die!” She screamed and buried her Woldo into the Demon’s chest who then turned into a pile of pink ash.
Mira’s weapon disappeared and she too joined Zoey who was already trying to remove Rumi’s jacket.
“N-no, just-” Rumi tried, the pain in her head increasing. It felt like her skull was going to shatter along with the bones in her arm. “P-please, I j-just need-” She cried, desperately trying to keep her jacket on, keeping her patterns hidden.
“Rumi, baby, please we just want to see if-” Mira started, peeling away the leather jacket to try and see if she was bleeding from any other places than her head.
Rumi tried to stop her and neither of the girls understood why, blaming her erratic behaviour on the fact she had hit her head against the brick wall and gently pushed her hand aside.
“No- no, no, please.”
Mira saw it first, the familiar purple patterns, demonic patterns that had decorated every Demon they had ever fought. Her heart clenched in her chest at the discovery and she swallowed thickly.
Zoey was still trying to comfort Rumi, offering words of love, affection and encouragement. Then she noticed Mira, how she stopped talking, stopped moving and was just staring at Rumi’s skin that was still hidden from Zoey’s gaze.
“Mira, what-” And then she saw it too and Rumi’s heart shattered at the look on Zoey’s face.
“Z-zoey, Mira, p-please,” She begged, pleading desperately but her secret was out now and there was literally nothing she could do. She was bleeding and heavily injured, tears streamed down her face feeling so extremely vulnerable in her current state.
“I’m-” Zoey started, her voice caught in her throat for a moment, eyes still wide from shock and her hands trembling. She grabbed her phone from her pocket, dropping it on the ground due to her hands shaking so much. “Hospital.” She finally managed to push the single word past her lips.
Mira nodded and watched the Maknae get back on her feet. Watching her leave made Rumi whimper softly, her chest was rising and falling quickly and her breathing was becoming more and more frantic, panicked.
“N-no, don’t l-leave,” Her voice hardly above a whisper, the pain from her arm and ribs starting to overwhelm her. She grabbed onto Mira’s wrist who instinctively pulled away. Rumi’s eyes widened in terror and the redhead’s facial expressions were a mixture of anger and sadness.
“Just-” She started, slowly lowering Rumi to the ground. “Lay down.”
Rumi was feeling weaker by the minute, her head was spinning. Before she knew it she was retching and shaking violently on the ground. A part of her was glad she hadn’t eaten yet that morning.
“M-mira,” She mumbled, tears mixing with blood the way she laid down. “M-mira, please. I didn’t w-want-” She tried to reach out, ignoring the horrible pain coming from the arm she tried to move, wanting to feel Mira’s comfortable touch like she had many times before. However the redhead didn’t seem to want any of it, avoiding Rumi’s gaze and locking her jaw which she did when mad.
All Rumi could do was lay there and look at her fellow Hunter who was actively avoiding any type of contact unless absolutely necessary. And it broke her.
This is all you deserve.
You’re a mistake.
You should never have been born!
“N-o.” She breathed, closing her eyes and letting the darkness swallow her whole.

The next time Rumi opened her eyes she was in a lot less pain.
The soft beeping of her heart monitors the only sound in the room.
She moved her head to the side, trying to look around but stopped when her world started to spin so badly she felt herself getting nauseous.
“Wh-ere-” Her voice was cracking badly and her throat felt like sandpaper.
She didn’t have much time to think about it when the door opened, Bobby and Celine walking inside. Where Bobby looked incredibly worried with red, puffy eyes, Celine looked angry.
Her heart clenched at Celine’s facial expression and the machine that showed her vital functions started to pick up speed.
“I was so worried!” Bobby cried and rushed to Rumi’s bedside, hugging carefully on her right side since the left was pretty much all bandages and her arm was set in plaster.
She let out a soft, pained grunt but smiled nonetheless. “You must be hungry! I’m gonna order you something to eat! Or better yet I’m buying everything from the shop downstairs! Whatever, I’ll be right back!” He said excitedly before exiting the room. Leaving Rumi with a seemingly furious Celine.
“W-where are-”
“Your friends?” Celine finished her sentence and Rumi nodded. She took a few steps closer, uncrossing her arms from her chest and holding a cup of water to Rumi’s lips to drink from.
The Hunter drank eagerly wanting nothing but to clench her thirst. She settled back against the pillows, still waiting for Celine to answer. The former singer set the empty cup aside, crossing her arms once again.
“Where do you think they are?”
“I don’t-”
“They know what you are, Rumi.” She said, anger in her voice and a deep frown on her face.
“But- I’m- I’m still m-me.” Her voice was breaking and what was left of her shattered heart was being stomped on.
“You’re a Demon, Rumi.” Celine almost growled the word Demon when it left her mouth. “It’s your own fault that they know, you should’ve been more careful. Did you learn nothing during our training sessions?!”
“I’m s-sorry I-” The rest of her words died in her throat, feeling overwhelmed. It felt like someone had a hand around her neck and started squeezing.
“Pathetic.” Celine shook her head disapprovingly. “Look at yourself, your mother would be so disappointed.” Her words were like venom, spreading slowly throughout Rumi’s being until it's all she felt.
Celine left the room, feeling too disgusted by the presence of her adoptive daughter to stay. Leaving Rumi sobbing and absolutely heartbroken.
If her girlfriends didn’t even want anything to do with her, or the person who raised her and was supposed to love her unconditionally, who would?
The answer came in the form of her manager, Bobby.
But, it didn’t matter what he tried to cheer her up, Rumi’s spirit had been broken and the days she stayed in the hospital she lost the will to do anything.
She started to refuse food, saying she wasn’t hungry and with each passing day she looked more and more thin.
Bobby decided that she needed a change of surroundings, that being in a hospital 24/7 wasn’t good for anyone’s health.
Strangely enough it seemed that the demon blood inside her made her healing somewhat faster than with normal humans. Her arm healed faster and she was allowed to take off the plaster after a week. It was still somewhat sensitive but she could use it as long as she didn’t push it and started lifting weights or anything else heavy for now. Her ribs were a different story altogether, they still hurt whenever she tried to move and she for sure couldn’t even lay down on her left side to sleep.
It was one of the reasons she hardly slept at all, the moments she did she’d subconsciously roll onto her damaged ribs and wake up in pain.
Rumi didn’t really care, only half listening to what the doctors said whenever they were in her room. However her heart skipped a beat when Bobby told her she was going home for the remainder of her recovery.
There would be a private nurse during the day and night. During the day she’d be in their penthouse itself while the other nurse would be in a separate room a few floors down. Rumi would only have to press a button and she’d come running.
The lead singer nodded, allowing the nurse to do her job but if she was honest, she didn’t really care.
Her will to live or get better had vanished when she got back home. It was the first time in, well she didn’t even know how much time had passed since everything happened, forever that she saw Mira and Zoey again.
She was wheeled into the penthouse by EMT’s and they stood in the living room. Rumi’s eyes locked with them for a brief moment and they looked, worried? Concerned? She was sure her medication was messing with her head again and turned her gaze away. She didn’t want to force them to look at her, after all, she deserved nothing but the pain her very existence caused her.
She cried herself to sleep every night. Not from pain but pure loneliness. Neither Mira or Zoey had stepped into her room once since her arrival. A part of her knew it, knew they wouldn’t but a small part, buried deep, deep down inside her still hoped that they still cared about her.
She’d no longer feel Mira’s arms around her. No longer would Zoey surprise hug her from behind and laugh at her antics.
She was alone in the world and secretly, she wished that that Demon had killed her instead.
Death would surely be more comforting than this, surely. Perhaps she’d see her mother, then again her mother would hate her too. She was sure of it, just like Mira and Zoey. She was a disappointment, a half Demon bastard.
A mistake.
The only reason Celine hadn’t killed her as a baby was because of her mothers dying words. Begging her to take care of the very thing that caused her death to begin with.
Celine had considered killing her, she knew very well because she had told her so many times. Reminded her on occasion that the only reason she was still alive was because of her mercy and her undying devotion and love she had held for her mother.
It was the third night that she was home. She laid in bed, having cried herself to sleep but waking up once again due to rolling onto her damaged side.
Her breathing was ragged and she pushed herself in an upright position, feeling the world spin for a second before it settled.
She was so tired, so physically and mentally exhausted but she needed her medication if she was to hope for any more sleep during the night. She had seen herself in the mirror earlier that day and she was shocked at what she saw. Dark circles under her eyes and her face looked thinner, her cheeks sunken. Lack of sleep and appetite would do that to a person.
She looked around for her water bottle or any liquid she could take to down the pills. There was none she could see in the mid lit room, the only source of light being from the moon shining down through the curtains, at least not close enough for her to just reach out and grab it.
She sighed deeply and looked at the small device next to her bed. She could call the nurse but the very thought of calling her just to get her something to drink sounded utterly ridiculous.
She moved carefully to the edge of the bed, whimpering in pain with every sudden move no matter how slowly she tried to move it still hurt.
With her legs now over the edge, she came to realize how heavy they felt but she slid off of the bed anyway which turned out to be her biggest mistake.
Her knees buckled and her legs just refused to support her, sending her to the floor instead. She tried to grab onto something, anything to keep herself in an upright position and failed miserably with that too, sending every item from her side table to join her onto the floor.
The pain was horrible but at least she didn’t fall on her left side, the side that was damaged already. Landing on her right instead didn’t seem to do anything to lessen the pain however. She cried out in absolute agony, trying desperately to get up and failing at that too.
You’re weak.
Pathetic.
You should’ve died at birth…
Her heart was beating so fast, her head spinning and her lungs burning trying to breathe faster than she should.
“P-please-” She whispered, her voice soft, trying desperately to calm herself and failing. “H-elp.” She looked at the open door, thinking she saw a pair of feet, wondering how much damage the fall and heavy medication had already done to her brain. She blinked and the next second they were gone.
‘Please, don’t leave. Don’t leave me!’
Again…

Chapter Text
“Careful, she might have hurt herself even more,” Zoey’s voice seeped through the thick, foggy cloud that surrounded Rumi's brain.
She had no idea that she fell unconscious and was now dreaming, then again anything was better than laying on that cold floor.
“Yeah I know, I’m trying. Shit, just-” It was Mira’s voice this time.
Rumi felt a sharp pain from her ribs and whimpered pathetically, trying to move but warm hands didn’t allow her to do so.
I thought dreams were supposed to be painless.
“Let us help you ba-” Zoey cleared her throat. “Rumi, we heard something fall and well-” The rest of the sentence was lost and Rumi had no time to think about it. Hands carefully moved her and strong arms eventually picked her off of the floor.
When she opened her eyes she looked into Mira’s brown eyes and she felt her heart skip a beat when she noticed the worry in them.
“M-Mira? Am- did-” She took a shuddering breath, unable to believe what she was seeing with her own eyes.
“Did she hit her head again, you think?” Zoey asked, looking from Rumi to Mira and back.
“I’m not sure,” Mira said, carefully placing Rumi back on her bed. The injured woman whimpered in pain again and when Mira tried to pull her arms away, she grabbed onto her arm. Not wanting her to leave. She felt hopeful when the redhead didn’t pull away this time.
“Don’t- please, don’t leave.” She started to breathe faster, feeling panic rising in her chest while her heartbeat quickened. “Please- I ju-just- I c-an’t-” She started crying and hyperventilating, with all the oxygen she still felt like she was choking.
“Rumi, Rumi please, calm down.” Zoey said, her voice soft while joining their leader in bed, settling next to her and holding her hand in her own. Intertwining their fingers.
“Breathe slowly, okay?” Mira said, now sitting down on the edge, holding Rumi’s other hand in her own and cupping the side of Rumi’s face with the other hand. She started to breathe in through her nose and out through her mouth as an example for the injured woman to follow and wiped some of the tears away with her thumb.
Slowly but surely Rumi’s heart came back down to its normal rhythm thanks to the breathing exercise but the tears seemed like a never ending stream.
They stayed like that for a while. Zoey comforting Rumi with gentle touches and Mira doing the same while continuing to remove those pesky tears.
Finally after what seemed like an eternity Rumi felt calm enough to speak and she looked at the girls sitting with her. “Why- why didn’t-” She took a final deep breath to calm herself. “Why didn’t you come to see me in the hospital?” Her voice was soft, as if she already knew the answer, still, she wanted to hear it from them.
Mira and Zoey looked at each other, clearly confused before looking back at the injured woman. “What do you mean?”
“Didn’t- Celine, she said that- she told us you didn’t want to see us.” Zoey then said and swallowed thickly, feeling horribly guilty.
“Yeah, she said you didn’t want us to visit, you didn’t want us to-” Mira set her jaw, slowly realizing what really happened. “You didn’t want us to see you like this, that you didn’t deserve it. That-” She shook her head in disbelief, anger boiling inside her. “I’m going to kill that fucking bitch.” She growled.
“That’s not important right now.” Zoey said, keeping herself in check for Rumi’s sake but she obviously felt the same as Mira. “Rumi, what happened…?”
And Rumi told them what happened at the hospital, what Celine had said and even though she hadn’t outright told her they didn’t want to see her, it was heavily implied and she had pulled her own conclusions from it.
“Yeah, okay, I’m gonna find a hole deep enough where we can bury her in.” Zoey said, looking at Mira who nodded in agreement.
“Guys, just-” She shook her head, suddenly feeling more exhausted than before and trying to get rid of the fogginess once again. “I’m sorry-” She said with a cracking voice. “I’m exhausted.” She sighed, her body feeling extremely weak suddenly after telling them about what had happened and she felt her eyes fluttering shut.
She felt two hands cupping her jaw on both sides of her face and the softest kiss was pressed against her lips. When she opened her eyes again she saw it was Zoey who had just kissed her and she felt her cheeks flush.
“Z-Zoey.” She whispered and the Maknae smiled softly.
“Do you want to sleep in our bed?” Mira asked, sliding off of the edge. “You know, like before? It’s fine if you dont’-”
“Yes!” She yelped and she heard Zoey giggle. “But, uhm, could you perhaps give me a bottle of water first? My ribs- they are the reason why I don’t sleep much.” She said softly. “And, well-”
Zoey quickly got off the bed to grab the bottle near the door before bringing it back and giving it to Rumi. “Is something else keeping you awake?” She asked, giving the injured woman her medication.
Rumi lowered her gaze after swallowing the pills, wondering if she should tell them.
“It’s okay, jagiya, you can tell us.” Mira said, and Rumi felt her heart flutter hearing her use that pet name.
She swallowed thickly, feeling her heart once again pounding in her chest and she was almost positive Mira could feel how fast when the redhead picked her up and from the bed. She whimpered softly, feeling strangely vulnerable but safe.
“It’s okay baby, I got you.” Mira reassured her, pressing a soft peck against Rumi’s cheek while walking out of her room.
She rested her head on Mira’s shoulder, allowing herself to relax.
“I didn’t sleep much because- because of the pain, but also because I was having horrible nightmares.”
They walked into their shared bedroom and Mira put Rumi down in the middle of their shared bed after Zoey made sure she had enough pillows to rest against.
“What- what were they about?” Zoey asked hesitantly although she had a nagging feeling in her gut she already knew. “Was it about us?” Her voice was hardly above a whisper and Rumi lowered her gaze. The look on the injured woman’s face broke Zoey’s heart and was answer enough.
The silence was broken by Rumi’s growling stomach and the trio chuckled lightheartedly. “How about I make us something to eat?” Zoey offered and Mira smiled softly at her.
“Do you need help?” Mira asked but Zoey noticed how Rumi was holding onto the redhead’s shirt and she shook her head.
“I should be fine, babe.” She nudged her head towards Rumi. “Make sure our queen is comfortable and awake when I come back.” She let out a giggle and loved the blush that formed on Rumi’s cheeks from the pet names being used.
The two sat there in silence, Rumi fully resting against the pillows behind her back, feeling more relaxed now than she had been ever since shit hit the fan.
Mira was holding her hand and brought it to her lips, kissing the back before placing it back down. “I take it you didn’t sell your soul to Gwi-Ma and there is a different reason why you have these patterns?” There was no anger in her voice, just genuine curiosity.
She nodded and took a shuddering breath, giving Mira’s hand a gentle squeeze. “Yes.” Her voice was soft, fragile, like she was about to break apart. She felt the tears well up her eyes again, hating how vulnerable she felt, how weak.
“It’s okay, Rumi, you don’t have to tell me now.” Mira assured her.
“I’ll- I’ll wait till Zoey’s back.” She said,
“Won’t be long!” Zoey yelled from wherever she currently was and both Mira and Rumi let out a lighthearted chuckle.
“Is there something I can do?” Mira asked, her thumb lovingly stroking the back of Rumi’s hand but the other woman shook her head.
“Can- could you-” She felt her face grow hotter by the second. God get yourself together. She swallowed thickly at the voice in her head, maybe it wasn’t the best time. She had just missed them both so terribly. Her eyes moved from Mira’s to her lips then back again and the redhead showed a lopsided smile. It dawned down on her what Rumi was trying to ask.
She moved slightly, getting a bit more comfortable and her body turned towards Rumi before leaning in. She put her hands on Rumi’s shoulders, keeping her injuries in mind while she slid them up to her neck and kept them on her jaw, her fingers gently tickling the back of her neck right where her hairline began.
Rumi felt the hairs all over her body stand up when Mira touched her so delicately, feeling her heart skip a beat when their lips finally met and GOD did she wanted it to last. The kiss was soft and slow and perfect and filled with nothing but love. It was innocent, just their lips moving, no rush or pressure to deepen it and when Mira pulled back they were both blushing.
Rumi, not wanting to let go just yet, wrapped her arms around Mira’s neck, pulling her back in, holding her firmly against her own body. Wanting to feel her presence, her warmth and the comfort and reassurance it brought her.
She felt the redhead return the hug, mindful of her ribs she hugged Rumi back and placed a tender kiss on her neck.
“I’ve missed you both so much,” She mumbled, hiding her face in the crook of Mira’s neck, inhaling her scent that was so familiar to her.
“We missed you too.” Mira said and she meant it. Pressing her lips against Rumi’s sensitive neck made the injured woman shiver. “Sorry-”
“Don’t-” Rumi shook her head. “It feels good.” She admitted, she didn’t know how much she had truly missed their touch up until now. And god she didn’t want it to stop.
They just sat there, in comfortable silence. One of Mira’s hands started to stroke her back affectionately and Rumi wished she could get even closer to the redhead.
Eventually, Zoey came walking back into the room, holding a platter with several bowls of food and snacks.
The two reluctantly let go and Rumi’s eyes widened at the amount the Maknae had made in such a short time. “Oh my-” She saw fresh kimchi, some kimbap and even a big bowl of cheese tteokbokki. “This- this looks amazing, Zoey.” the injured woman said and felt her appetite return.
“Holy shit- I didn’t even know we had anything to begin with.” Mira said and helped Zoey place the platter on Rumi’s lap.
The injured woman noticed there was only one pair of chopsticks. “Is- will you guys not eat with me?” She asked, looking surprised. The amount of food on the platter is enough to feed all three of them.
Zoey smiled shyly. “I mean, I figured you were hungry, so I just put all this together quickly and warmed up some left overs.” She then turned to Mira. “I’m not surprised you didn’t know, considering I’m the only one doing any shopping around here.” She grinned and Mira pretended to be hurt by falling backwards overdramatically onto the bed.
“You wound me, Zoey!” She joked and the trio laughed.
Zoey pulled out two extra pairs of chopsticks after they settled. “I brought two more, just in case.”
Mira quickly got up, picked one pair and kissed Zoey on the lips as a thank you. “Thanks babe, you’re the best.”
Zoey grinned. “Oh I know.” She winked and the trio started to eat together even though both Mira and Zoey made sure that Rumi would eat first.
The two only started eating full force once Rumi assured them both she was full and she let out a light giggle seeing her girlfriends fight over the last piece of kimbap.
It wasn’t before long that everything was cleaned out and the platter was put somewhere where it was out of everyone’s way.
Zoey and Mira helped Rumi get more comfortable, helping her turn and lay down on her side. Putting pillows wherever needed to make sure she had the support she needed. She eventually ended up with Mira’s pressed against her back and Zoey being her little spoon.
“Is this okay for you?” Zoey asked, looking backwards over her shoulder and she saw Rumi nod. “If you need anything, just wake us up, okay?”
“Thank you.” Rumi mumbled softly, pressing a soft kiss on Zoey’s exposed shoulder and wrapping her arms around the Maknae’s waist, keeping her close. She felt her heart flutter when Zoey put her arms on hers.
Mira’s arms were placed carefully around Rumi’s waist, avoiding her ribs. The redhead had refused at first simply because she didn’t want to hurt Rumi but the injured woman had insisted, wanting nothing more than to feel them both as close as humanly possible. Of course Mira caved, because, well it’s hard to say no to a woman like Rumi.
They just laid there, enjoying the comfortable silence and tender touches here and there, until Rumi’s soft voice broke it.
“My father was a Demon.” She said, her voice hardly audible but they both had heard. “It’s- it’s the reason why I have my patterns.” She swallowed thickly, feeling a familiar sting behind her eyes. “I’m sorry- I’m sorry I didn’t tell you both that you had to find out like this.”
“Don’t be, it’s not your fault you have them in the first place.” Zoey said, giving Rumi’s arm a gentle squeeze of reassurance.
“We are sorry though,” Mira started. “We definitely could have handled it better than we did. We should have trusted you.” Her voice was full of regret.
“I’m surprised you managed to hide these for so long.” Zoey said, her hand moving over Rumi’s arm. “Considering they cover both your arms.”
“They- I wasn’t born with them. They started showing when I was really young and they got worse when I got older. The more I tried to hide them and the more Celine reminded me of my heritage, the worse they got.” She heard Mira growl behind her.
“I’m going to punch the bitch in the face next time I see her.”
“Same.” Zoey said. “We need to make sure we get it on video so we can rewatch it whenever we feel like.” The trio chuckled light heartedly before the silence returned.
“You- must’ve felt so lonely.” Zoey said, sadness seeming into her voice. She turned around in Rumi’s arms when she didn’t get an answer but heard the woman behind her sniffle softly instead. She cupped her face with both hands, wiping away any tears.
Rumi finally broke down and cried, sobbing her heart out and allowing herself to be vulnerable while holding onto Zoey for dear life. As if the Maknae and the redhead were the only reason keeping her anchored. Finally, after all these years she was allowed to be herself, to have her walls broken down by the two people she loved the most in this world. Walls she had guarded and put up after being scolded for showing any emotion towards Celine who had just told her to suck it up whenever she was hurt or upset.
She had no idea how long the three of them laid there but eventually her body stopped shaking and the tears finally stopped coming, perhaps she had no more tears left to shed. It didn’t matter, she felt exhausted and had trouble keeping her eyes open.
“I’m- so tired.” She whispered, feeling herself drift off already.
“Sleep jagiya,” Mira and both kissed her. One planted a peck on her delicate neck while the other pressed a soft kiss on her lips. “We’ll be here in the morning.”
“We’ll never leave your side again.” Zoey promised, tenderly caressing her cheek before turning back around again, settling back in her former position as the small spoon.
Rumi was halfway to the land of dreams when she heard Mira’s voice whisper, like from a distance.
You’ll never be alone, ever again.
Notes:
And, tell me, was it worth it? ;)
Am thinking of turning it into a separate story, with an extra chapter where Celine gets destroyed by Mira/Zoey.
Yall, tell me what you think!
Also, anyone know some good Polytrix discords?
Also, I'm feeling a bit udner the weather, which is the reason for the delay on Touch, no worries, it should be published somewhere this weekend.

Chapter Text
Zoey thought she was the first to wake up but when she turned around and reached to her left, she found Mira’s spot cold and empty.
She looked somewhat surprised wondering if the redhead had gotten out so early for a reason.
What day are we again? Zoey’s tired and still half asleep brain was only beginning to wake up and GOD did she hate mornings. Especially EARLY mornings. Why would anyone wake up this early in the day when you could stay in bed, all cuddled up to your girlfriends and enjoy their warmth?
Yes, girlfriends, plural. It’s 2025, grow up.
Finally she realized that it was Sunday, a day they would normally sleep in, eat snacks, and do nothing unless it involved the bed they were in. (Get your mind out of the gutter! Just kidding)
She was about to move when Rumi’s arm that was draped over her stomach lazily, suddenly pulled her closer. The lead singer hummed softly, still half asleep herself but buried her face in the mass of Zoey’s black hair. “Where do you think you’re going.” She murmured, eyes still closed and brushing her soft lips over the Maknae’s bare shoulder.
Zoey let out a soft giggle and shivered in delight when she felt Rumi touch her skin. “No where in particular.”
“Good.” Rumi sighed. “Why go anywhere when you can be in bed with us.” She said, still with her eyes closed.
“Well, that’s the problem, there’s a part missing.”
Rumi opened one eye. “What.”
Zoey turned around to face her sleepy girlfriend whose brain was finally clearing from leftover sleep. “I guess by your reaction you don’t know what time she left?”
Rumi rubbed her eyes, shaking her head. “No, I didn’t even know she was gone until you told me.” She blinked a few times, finally getting rid of the blurriness in her eyes.
“Strange, she did say last night she wanted to practice some dance moves today.” Zoey said, slowly pieces of last night coming back.
“Wait!” Rumi said, her brain suddenly standing at attention. “I woke up during the night to go to the bathroom. I heard Mira in the living room, coughing.” She frowned, memories flowing back like water through a river.
Zoey looked worried. “Coughing?”
“Yea, she said she was fine but was just sitting there because she didn’t want to wake us up.”
“Oh no, poor Mira.” Zoey said, her face showing worry and concern. “Was she not feeling well?”
“She said she was fine, but, well, that’s just Mira being Mira.” Rumi said, both she and Zoey slowly made their way out of bed as worry started to seep in.
“You- you don’t think she’d actually still practice while feeling sick?” Zoey secretly knew the answer already but that didn’t stop her from asking the question while the two of them threw on some comfortable clothes.
“This is Mira we’re talking about.” Rumi said, looking around the room as if Mira could jump out any second. “I- let’s not worry before-” She cleared her throat which suddenly felt dry. “Let’s go find her.” She said, grabbing her phone and trying to call Mira while the two checked their living quarters first.
Mira wasn’t there, so they went to the next location. The dance studio a few levels below them.
They could hear the music blasting through the stereo, the music getting louder with every step they took. Suddenly, they picked up the pace, just like their hearts suddenly started beating faster the closer they got to the door that would lead into the dance studio.
When they opened the door they looked at Mira, who saw the door open in the reflection of the mirror that she was standing in front of and turned around.
Their worry turned to relief seeing the redhead standing there but it was short-lived when they noticed the way she looked.
Her face was flushed, the clothes she wore were soaked and her chest was rising and falling in such a way that it looked like she was having trouble breathing.
“Why didn’t you pick up your phone!” Rumi yelled over the music, hands shaking.
The volume of the music got lowered and the two started to walk deeper into the studio. “We tried calling you. We were worried something happened.” Zoey said and frowned, not from anger but concern.
“I’m fine.” Mira said but her voice was hoarse and she sounded out of breath. Sure she had done this hundreds if not thousands of times but never in her life had the girls ever seen her so out of breath like she did now. “I’m fi-” And there it was.
Mira tried to stand up straight and instead of doing so her eyes rolled upwards.
“Mira? Mira!” Both Zoey and Rumi bolted to the redhead, thankful they were close enough to prevent Mira from hitting the floor.
They lowered her down onto the ground, trying to wake her up.
“Mira! Mira, please.” Zoey whispered, heart hammering tears falling and mixing with Rumi’s.
“Wake up, baby, please- please! ” Rumi put Mira’s head on her lap, a hand on the redhead’s cheek while she gently hit her cheek with the palm of her hand.
Please just wake up!

Chapter 5: Deathbed
Summary:
Ok, so this hits close to home for me and once I had this idea, I had to write it down.
It was somewhat therapeutic for me. (even though I cried while writing it)
Some of you might remember that my wife passed away in 2022, I also said my goodbyes to her, unfortunately she wasn’t awake, still.
Anyway, I wanted to share something a bit more personal.

Chapter Text
“It’s time, sweetheart…” Mira said, laying in bed with Rumi next to it, sitting on a chair while holding her old, wrinkly hand in both her own.
While Mira’s hair had greyed during the years, her skin going from smooth to wrinkled, Rumi didn’t look a day older than 30.
The purple haired woman shook her head, constantly kissing Mira’s hand while the tears streamed down her face. “No, no-” She tried to hold back her tears, tried to stay strong but the realization of what was happening, what was going to happen, cracked her resolve and it broke her. “Please- please just-” She sobbed, squeezing Mira’s hand a little tighter, giving her just a bit more of herself. “Just a little longer.”
“My love,” Mira sighed, not from annoyance but because she was tired. “Please, it’s my time.”
And Rumi crumbled, pressing her face against Mira’s chest while she cried and it broke Mira’s heart. She didn’t want to leave Rumi behind, but it was time that nature had it’s course. She already lived an unnaturally long life, thanks to Rumi sharing her life essence. Being a Demon, even a half Demon like Rumi gave her abilities no one had ever heard of. However, she could only prolong the inevitable for so long, and with a longer life didn’t come youth.
So while Mira continued to age, although slower than regular humans, death still came. Even after more than 100 years, Rumi still wasn’t willing to let go, to say goodbye.
Because saying goodbye meant she would be alone…
So she pleaded.
She begged.
Begged Mira to stay, begged her for a few more minutes.
Begged her not to leave.
Begged her not to go somewhere where she couldn’t follow.
But Mira, sweet, kind Mira was so tired.
Her body had started giving up, the only thing still keeping her here was Rumi and the love she held for the former redhead.
“Jagiya,” Mira said lovingly and Rumi shook her head, not wanting to look up. Not wanting to look into those brown eyes who were pleading to let her go. “Zoey is waiting, jagiya…” She whispered.
The mention of their former bandmate finally caused Rumi to look up, pushing herself in a somewhat upright position and look at her wife. The tears never stopped and she still clung to Mira’s hand oh so desperately.
“And when I'm gone, and join her, we will wait for you too, sweetheart.” She promised, cupping her wife’s cheek with her other hand. “We will be here, with you. Even though you can’t see us.” She took a deep, pained breath before releasing it slowly.
Rumi stood up slowly, still holding Mira’s hand, still clinging to her for dear life but she nodded, slowly.
Smile smiled weakly, patting the spot on the mattress next her. “Hold me.” She whispered and Rumi crawled onto the bed, settling next to her wife like she had done many, many times before.
She finally let go, only to wrap her arms around Mira’s frame instead. Her head was resting on her chest while she listened.
“I love you, Rumi.” Mira whispered, but Rumi couldn’t speak, she could only cry. She didn’t need to say it for Mira to know how she felt. The redhead knew, knew how much love she held for her, how much love they held for one another.
And if love had been enough to stop death to ever claim their lives. If love would be enough to prolong death and allow them all to live longer, then all three would have been immortal.
But that was not how it worked…
“I love you too, jagiya.” Rumi said, taking a shuddering breath while her heart was racing. Feeling her resolve crack, feeling herself wanting to break her promise as she felt Mira slowly slip.
Mira’s breathing started to slow down, like it usually did when she fell asleep. Only this time, this time Mira wouldn’t awake from her eternal slumber.
She heard Mira take in a deep breath, one deep breath before she spoke.
“Until we meet again, my love.” She whispered softly.
It was a promise. A promise that this was not the end.
That they would meet again, in another life.
No matter when that life might be.
And Rumi held her a little tighter, pouring all her love into that one final hug. Their final goodbye without saying goodbye.
“Untill we meet again.” She whispered back, listening carefully as Mira breathed her last breath and her heart shattered.
She remained like that, holding onto Mira’s body for what felt like an eternity.
Slowly but surely, she pulled backwards and while the tears never stopped coming down her face, Mira looked like she was asleep.
The shadow of a faint smile still on her lips.
Her eyes forever closed.
Rumi no longer felt her heartbeat and as she cried out Mira’s name, she felt like her heart had stopped beating too.
Her heart was broken, shattered and while her very soul cried out for Mira’s and where she used to feel her presence, all that was left now was silence.

“Why couldn’t you love me? All of me?!” The question came out and so did the echo that rippled through the Honmoon, turning it purple for a moment before it faded back.
“Because you’re a Demon, Rumi.” Came Celine’s answer, short, cold. “And you said it yourself, the song you sang. A Demon with no feelings doesn’t deserve to live.”
Rumi’s heart felt like it stopped beating, felt like it shattered in millions of pieces while she fell onto her knees before Celine. The one person who should’ve loved her unconditionally. But her love didn’t come without conditions, she had but one condition and that was for Rumi’s Demon side to be dealt with.
She summoned her sword, presented it to the former sunlight sister. “Then, do what you should’ve done, a long time ago.”
Celine stood there, the little bit of love and affection she felt for this thing before her was long gone. As tempted as she was to take the sword and end the half breed bastard before her, she wasn’t going to get her own hands dirty.
“If you want to end it, Demon, then you can do it yourself.” And with that, she walked past Rumi who was still on her knees.
She lowered her arms, the fresh new sword embedded in her heart. Celine hadn’t used Rumi’s sword, but her words were used as such just the same.
Her hands shook while holding her weapon with one hand, the other, the clawed and deformed monstrosity attached to her body dug a small hole in the soft earth right in front of her.
Once deep enough, she turned the sword in such a way where the hilt was now buried into the ground and the sharp blade pointing up.
She cried, feeling so utterly alone, feeling the despair slowly overwhelming her. She had no one left in this world.
Her mind drifted to Mira, to Zoey, how they summoned their weapons, seemingly reluctant but Rumi knew better. She was a Demon, she deserved to die. Perhaps the world would be better if she was no longer in it.
Voices crept up on her, familiar ones, ones she had heard on the stage and who sang with her earlier during Takedown.
‘We will love you, Rumi.’ Mira whispered.
‘Yes, Rumi, we don’t care that you’re a Demon.’ Zoey whispered almost lovingly into Rumi’s ear.
‘We can give you a place where you belong.’
Slowly, Rumi got up, her breath coming out in ragged and desperate gasps for air. The Zoey and Mira of this world didn’t love her, not anymore if they ever did to begin with.
‘But we will love you, Rumi.’
‘Yessss, we love you, so, so much.’
“I’m- I’m scared.” Rumi cried, her body shaking almost violently, her vision blurry from the never ending stream of tears. All she could see was the glow of her sword, the sharp tip pointed towards herself.
‘You don’t have to be.’ Mira cooed. ‘We’re right here, when the pain stops, we are here my love.’
‘We will never leave you, Rumi.’ Zoey promised. ‘This world, they don’t want you, but we? We want you, we love you, Rumi.’
‘Join us, and you’ll never be alone again.’
Rumi closed her eyes and allowed her body to fall forwards, gravity did its work and the sharp, stinging, breathtaking pain Rumi felt next was nothing compared to what she had felt before.
She felt the blood make its way up, filling her lungs or what was left of it. Her heart beating slower with each passing second. She didn’t notice falling sideways, her body hitting the ground. The hilt of her weapon sticking out of her chest while the tip of her sword stuck out of her back. Blood dripped off and onto the earth, turning the once green grass red.
The last few seconds drifted to the better times. The day she met Zoey and Mira, their friendship, their kind words and gentle touches, their hugs and love.
She closed her eyes for what felt like mere seconds but when she opened them again the pain was gone and next to her were Mira and Zoey, or at least the Demonic versions of them were.
They looked at her, grinning wickedly before throwing themselves on her. Sharp fangs biting down into her skin, nails clawing at her body.
She didn’t fight, she was a Demon and to her she got what she deserved. At least these versions of Mira and Zoey wanted to touch her, wanted to show their love in their own, deprived and wicked way.
Her corpse back in the human world was found later, by Zoey and Mira.
They held her body and cried. Rumi was gone, her heart stopped beating the moment they had rejected her and she had died all alone with dried tears on her cheeks. Two different colored eyes towards the sky but never being able to see the stars in it ever again.

Time.
So much time.
It was all Rumi had, in the end.
After Mira’s death, she was never the same.
Zoey passed away many years before Mira, it had left both of them in shambles and Rumi started to cling to her wife like a lifeline.
But the inevitable eventually came, death knocked on their door but only took Mira with him, leaving Rumi behind once again.
She had been alone ever since, not allowed anyone to get close because she didn’t want to hurt anyone with the shards that were left of her broken heart.
Huntrix had been abandoned many years ago and several generations of new Hunters came and went. She outlived them all.
The current ones hardly even remembered who Rumi was. An ancient fossil of a long forgotten time.
Had it truly been that long ago…?
Rumi had been tired, oh so tired but her body still seemed young, virile and the only thing she had was time.
Time and her ability to prolong life.
Which she could share…
So that’s what she started doing. Sharing her essence with those who needed it.
A sick child, a mother in need, a father on the brink of death, a grandmother who still needed to teach her grandchildren important life lessons.
Hundreds, thousands of people’s lives had been prolonged. Given a second chance.
And finally, time caught up with her.
200 years after Mira’s death she noticed the change, subtle at first, grey hairs between the purple ones, a wrinkle under her eyes and around the corners of her mouth.
She still hardly looked older than 40 when it began and now she wondered how long she would’ve lived had she not shared her essence with all those people. Not that she regretted it, no, far from.
Her heart ached.
Soon…
And now she laid in her bed, in the home she once shared with Zoey and Mira. The building still standing tall but no longer the tallest in Seoul. It had been several decades since other, higher buildings had been built.
She didn’t care, the view was still stunning and she watched the city lights and people below from the bed that stood in front of the biggest window in her room.
Her body now fragile, her grey hair cascading down her back and wrinkles in her once smooth skin. She laid down, feeling the last remainders of her life slowly slipping away as she closed her eyes. Memories flooding her mind and her heart stuttered in her chest along with her breath.
She hoped they would wait for her, on the other side, hoped she wouldn’t have to make the journey on her own, all alone.
She smiled softly, tears escaped her, sliding slowly down her cheeks as the memories of Zoey and Mira came to her like it had been yesterday since she last saw them.
They smiled at her and reached out their hands.
“Are you ready?” Zoey asked, her smile so bright it could blind people.
Yes… Rumi sighed.
“Come love, open your eyes.” Mira said, oh how she had missed their voices, it was like they were right there with her.
Rumi, open your eyes baby.
And she did, looking up at the ceiling in her apartment but when she moved to sit her body no longer ached.
She looked at Zoey, and Mira who were both holding one of her hands.
“We made a promise, remember?” Zoey said and both her and Mira pulled Rumi to her feet.
She couldn’t believe her own eyes and she wrapped her arms around both of them, crying and hugging and kissing them.
They hugged her back, cried with her. Oh how they had missed each other.
Time passed and Mira was the first to pull back. She tenderly caressed one of Rumi’s cheeks, the skin once again smooth and soft, just like when they were younger.
Rumi stood at the edge of the bed and turned to look over her shoulder but Zoey stopped her, shaking her head. “Don’t, jagiya.” She comforted her wife.
“Your time has finally come, sweetheart.” Mira said, lovingly removing some of the stray tears from her wife’s face. “Are you ready?”
Rumi smiled through her tears, her chest no longer felt tight, instead she felt lighter than ever before so she nodded. “Yes. Oh yes, I’m ready.”
The trio hugged, and for a moment the room was lit in a blinding, white light before it disappeared and all that remained was Rumi’s body, the shadow of a smile still on her lips.
With the passing of Rumi the trio had reunited in death but the time of Huntrix had come to an end.

Chapter Text
They called it the end of days.
The dead came back to life and started attacking the living.
No, not just attack them.
They would come at you slowly and one on one wouldn’t be that bad.
It got bad once more than one showed up and while you managed to take down one, the other would grab you, drag you down onto the ground and start eating you.
While you were alive. You would be screaming in agony as the undead ripped open your stomach and started consuming your insides.
You would bleed out, praying to whichever deity would listen to end your misery.
Your corpse would be doomed.
The virus would eventually resurrect your corpse and you would be just another one of the mindless undead that roamed the world.
Doomed to walk forever.
Feed on the living.
Until a kind soul would put you out of your misery and you would die your second death.
Rumi, Mira and Zoey found themselves in the midst of it all.
They were doing pretty well, considering.
They kept to themselves, not taking any risks and stayed on the downlow.
But… their luck eventually ran out.
They had been fighting a small horde, nothing they couldn’t handle, they had done this dozens of times before.
However once the fight was done and they thought all the corpses had been dealt with, one emerged from the back.
It grabbed Rumi from behind and tore open her neck, the blood spraying everywhere.
The zombie was dealt with by one of Zoey’s knives, the Maknae screaming in both terror and unrelenting fury while hacking down at the now motionless corpse.
“Zoey!” Mira screamed her name and it instantly pulled Zoey’s attention to the redhead who was knelt down onto the ground, holding Rumi in her arms.
Rumi tried to speak, clawing at Mira’s clothes, tears streaming down her face and the absolute terror in her eyes at the realization of what was going to happen.
“Y-you’ll b-be okay, Rumi-” Mira said, her own tears now broken free. “Rumi, baby, j-just, you’ll b-e f-ine.” She used one hand to press down on the wound, trying to prevent the crimson from flowing but the wound was too deep.
Blood came flowing out of Rumi’s mouth, the gurgling sounds she made while trying to speak or breathe tore a hole in their souls.
Zoey sat opposite of Mira, holding onto their girlfriend for dear life, like she could prevent the inevitable that way. “She- she’s r-right, Rumi-” She sniffled, crying freely and unashamed. “You’re s-o brave, baby, you’ll be f-fine.”
Rumi’s movement slowed down, her lungs fighting for oxygen that was denied and her breathing stuttered. More blood came pouring out of her mouth and from between their fingers. Her hands desperately holding onto her partners, not wanting to go, not wanting to leave them behind.
“M-i-ra- Zo-e-y-” She rasped, her gaze growing from one to the other as she frantically tried to find the willpower to speak, to say she loved them.
They could feel her struggle, feel her body giving up due to lack of air in her lungs that were now filled with blood instead.
“Rumi! Rumi pl-please!”
“Baby, baby girl-”
They watched, stayed with her as she fought so hard to stay alive.
Eventually, her grasp weakened, her hands falling slack onto the floor with a soft thud. Her body stopped moving and she just laid still.
So very still in their arms.
Eyes open, the blue sky reflecting in her beautiful eyes something they would never truly see ever again.

Chapter 10: Last Breath: Part 2
Summary:
Last Breath: Part 2
Aftermath of Rumi's death
Chapter Text
Zoey cried her heart out when they put Rumi’s body on top of a table in a room. They didn’t want a wandering zombie to start snacking on her and they covered her up with a curtain Mira ripped from the single window.
They closed her eyes and she looked like she was asleep, peaceful even.
Mira swallowed hard, forcing herself to stop crying because there was no point in it. Rumi was gone, she wouldn’t come back and it was their new reality.
A world without Rumi.
Zoey held Rumi’s face in both hands for a final time, kissing her forehead and Mira did the same, planting a final kiss next to Zoey’s before covering her up.
“W-wait!” Zoey moved quickly and Mira pulled back the curtain to give the Maknae space to do whatever she needed to do.
She removed Rumi’s norigae from her belt and held it against her chest. “I- I j-just-” She didn’t need to explain, Mira understood.
“We- we can leave ours here.” She suggested and Zoey looked at her, her eyes red and puffy but she nodded.
“G-good idea.” She attached Rumi’s norigae onto her belt, removing her own and Mira’s and placed them underneath the folded hands of their leader.
That’s how they left her, alone in that room. Their Rumi and their hearts all left behind in that cold building while they continued their journey, in search of another place to stay.
The days followed by Rumi’s death were hard, to say the least.
They forced themselves to keep going even though they wanted to give up. They didn’t say it, not out loud but both wanted to join her.
Join Rumi in that peaceful slumber of death. Allowing the tempting darkness to swallow them whole and stop feeling like their chests had been ripped open and their hearts torn out.
Rumi’s death left a void neither of them could fill.
The breaking point came when Mira noticed Zoey just standing there.
She had just finished off several zombies when she turned around to see her girlfriend just stand there. Some corpses scattered around her while another was coming directly at her, snarling and growling and ready to clamp down onto any part of her body it had access to.
“Zoey!”
She didn’t even know she could move this fast but she reached the zombie before it reached her Maknae, ramming the tip of her spear through its skull. It fell onto the ground and laid still.
She then turned to Zoey, her heart hammering in her chest and her eyes wide in fear and terror. “What were you doing?! It was gonna bite you!” She screamed and no amount of undead she had faced scared her other than the look on Zoey’s face right now.
She looked like she had given up and the tears streaming down her face made Mira realize that she only barely managed to prevent her girlfriend from ending her own life.
She wrapped her arms around Zoey, holding her tightly and allowed herself to break down. She cried and Zoey joined while both slowly sank to the ground, now sitting on the cold stone floor as they cried out their sorrow, their grief and heartache.
“I- I’m s-orry-” Zoey mumbled between sobs, her entire body shaking from the emotions running through her. “I’m s- sorry M-ira.” She cried helplessly.
“I can’t-” Mira clung onto her, desperately, fingertips digging onto Zoey’s body. “I c-can’t lose y-you t-too, Zoey, please.”
They stayed there, seated on the ground in each other's arms for god knows how long. It started to rain and they decided it was best to find shelter for the night in an old seemingly abandoned clinic.
It was strangely eerie how quiet it was. Then again, the former patients probably left the building once they turned in search of fresh food.
They only found a single zombie that they easily dealt with before securing a room on the second floor. There were enough beds scattered around and they pulled some mattresses off of them and piled them on the floor, preferring to sleep there next to one another than separately on the beds itself.
They held onto one another for the entire night, refusing to let go. They slept peacefully for the first time in who knows how long.
They decided to stay there for a while, giving themselves some time to recover and allowing grief to be dealt with properly.
The days slowly passed by, the first two they just rested and slept as much as possible, the other days they started to explore the building a bit more. Gathering everything they could find. Which was more than they could have hoped for honestly. There had been several vending machines full of snacks, soda cans and bottles of water which they cleaned out. They were set for drinks and food for a while at least.
They were honestly stunned at the amount of usable items they found, then again medical buildings were the first ones where the undead attacked, considering the people inside.
The sick.
Dying.
Infected.
Now that they thought more logically about it, the living were the first ones to probably leave the building along with the dead who were trying to grab a quick snack.
They stocked up on medication, painkillers, antibiotics, bandages and gauze that were still all new and unopened.
Once they rested properly, stocked up on everything they could carry they started making plans to continue on their journey.
The clinic was fine but they needed somewhere permanent to stay and the clinic simply wasn’t secure enough.
However when the day came they were going to leave it was pouring buckets and even with the amounts of medication they had with them they didn’t feel like wasting them if they got sick.
So they stayed for another night, just till the weather cleared up.
It’s been seven days since then.
It was still raining.
Even after seven. Fucking. DAYS.
They just walked around the clinic and the surrounding buildings that were not too far away and they could reach without getting soaked.
They went from building to building, exploring, gathering and dealing with the few dead they found on their way. They brought whatever they found back to their small room, adding it to the growing pile of items already there.
“Geesh, we should find a car.” Zoey said, panting from climbing the stairs with a full bag of items, canned food this time.
“Heh, yeah,” Mira nodded. “Maybe- maybe you’re right.” She stretched her back, hearing a set of satisfying cracks and pops when she turned her spine in the right direction. “Oh yeah that’s the stuff.”
The following days were spent looking for a working car, which turned out not to be as hard as they expected it to be.
Zoey remembered seeing a car in the places they had visited earlier and they decided to go back. It was parked nearly in the garage, keys hanging near the door ready to be taken.
Suddenly, they heard a bang that came from the basement followed by the sound of glass falling onto a stone floor.
Mira tucked the keys safely in her pocket before holding her weapon with two hands while Zoey pulled out one of her knives, her other hand on the doorknob.
Mire gave a slight nod before Zoey pulled the door open.
“We know someone’s there!” Mira yelled, her voice unstable and wavering. There were worse things than zombies out there.
Other humans.
“Come out! No funny business!” Zoey screamed but nothing but silence came from the now open door. “I’m coming in!” and she stepped inside and onto the wooden steps leading downstairs.
“No! No please! Stay away!”
Zoey felt her heart skip at least a beat or two hearing that voice. It was a voice she thought never to hear again and without hesitation she just bolted downstairs.
“Zoey!” Mira screamed, running after her girlfriend without a second thought.
She nearly bumped into the Maknae when stepping into the basement area, still holding onto her weapon, her hands trembling. “Have you lost your mind?!”
Zoey turned to face her. “I know that voice! It’s her!”
Mira’s face fell and she tried to swallow the lump that started forming in her throat. “I- Zoey- that’s not-”
“It’s her!”
A soft shuffling sound pulled their attention to a dark corner and Mira immediately pointed her weapon at whatever or whoever it was. “Stay back!”
“Mira! No- I know-” Zoey turned to the corner, her heart was beating so fast she was sure everyone around could hear it. It wasn’t fear, it was hope. And hope was sometimes more dangerous.

Mira still pointed her weapon into the direction of where the sound had come from. Her hands and the spear she was holding both trembled while Zoey’s hand was placed on it, lowering it slowly, keeping her gaze in the same direction as Mira.
“Rumi?” Zoey’s voice was soft, pleading. “Please- please come out, we- it’s us.”
The person moved slowly, careful as if they were scared to break more than the shattered glass that laid scattered everywhere on the floor.
There was only a small window in the basement, letting in just barely enough light to see the mass of purple colored hair that emerged from the shadows and into the small beam of light.
“Z-Zoey? Mira?” Rumi cautiously stepped closer and flinched when Mira’s weapon fell from her hand onto the stone floor.
“Rumi!” Zoey screamed at the top of her lungs, lunging forward and wrapping her arms around Rumi’s neck without a second thought.
She didn’t care what happened, how it happened, how it was even possible that she was here. All that mattered was that she was here.
The force she used to launch herself at Rumi was enough for the woman to lose balance, stumbling back into the darkness and hitting her back against a wall.
Her arms found their way around Zoey’s body, holding her close while her own body shook from held back emotions that she could allow herself to let go.
They both broke down crying and somewhere in between it all Mira joined in, hugging them both and cried along with them.
They don’t know how long they stood there, they didn’t care either. Zoey held Rumi’s hand while carefully stepping forward, reaching the stairs and eventually out of the basement.
Or at least almost.
Rumi stopped at the door, Zoey already passed through, still holding Rumi’s hand. She turned to look at Rumi who was still mostly covered by her long hair that hung loosely over her body and most of her face.
“What’s the matter?” Zoey asked worriedly, tightening her grip when she felt Rumi pull away. “You’re not- you’re coming with us, Rumi.”
“What’s the hold up?” Mira reappeared from behind Zoey, looking confused at what was going on.
“She- I’m not sure.” Zoey said, feeling helpless.
“I’m- I’m not the same Rumi as before.” Rumi said, her voice shaking and Zoey could feel her hand start to tremble.
“What are you talking about?” Mira said, frowning and stepping closer. “Of course you are, you are here, walking and talking.”
“Mira-”
“No!” Mira’s voice broke and she flinched at the intensity in her own voice. “I’m- I’m sorry, just- please, Rumi.” She reached out her hand for Rumi to take. “We missed you so much, we thought- w-we thought you died.” She took a trembling breath, feeling her voice stutter in her throat. “Please, please come with us.”
There was silence at first but Rumi reached out her trembling hand to take Mira’s who didn’t pull away when she saw the bandages wrapped around it and how bloody and dirty they were.
Slowly she stepped through the doorway, out of the shadows and into the lighter hallway.
It was then when both Zoey and Mira could see her.
Rumi’s torn and bloodied clothes, her messy hair cascading down her body and the wound on her neck and throat that seemed like it healed only recently. Thin, black veins decorating the area around it, reaching down to her shoulder and up her neck towards her eye. The brown of her iris now mixed with yellow, the usual white now a mixture of black and red.
She looked scared. Ready to bolt, to run and hide.
Her eyes glazed over from holding back her tears and her body shaking in fear of rejection now that they could see her.
“Oh Rumi, baby.” Mira said, her own tears threatened to spill over before she pulled Rumi close.
Rumi just hid her face against Mira’s chest, crying her heart out now that she felt safe again, finally after the weeks she’s been alone. Trying to find them.
Zoey joined in too, hugging Rumi from behind, wrapping their leader in a warm blanket made of her girlfriends.
They took the car to drive back to the clinic, Rumi sat on the backseat with Zoey. Rumi leaning heavily against her Maknae, enjoying the warmth radiating off of her.
Once the car was parked they ran the short distance through the rain, their clothes now soaking wet.
“I’m gonna get a small fire going. I’ll boil some water so we can clean up.” Zoey nodded, taking Rumi to the corner where the mattresses were and several boxes of clothes.
“Let’s get you out of those wet clothes, Unnie.” Zoey said, her voice soft, guiding her to sit down on one of the few chairs.
Rumi nodded slowly, letting Zoey take the lead and not struggling when the Maknae slowly started to undress her. She shivered when the cold hit her damp skin, wrapping her arms around herself in a weak attempt to stay warm and cover herself up. Hiding the new injuries she now carried on her body.
She didn’t just come across zombies while trying to reunite with her girls, she came across other humans. The living breathing kind.
Men.
“How did you find us?” Zoey asked, pulling Rumi from darker thoughts.
“I- I’m- not sure.” She looked at the two norigae that were attached to her belt that now laid on the floor with the rest of her clothes. “I followed your scent.”
Zoey halted for a moment, wrapping a blanket around her bare girlfriend before she continued. “Our scent?”
She nodded. “I- wh-when I woke up-” She swallowed thickly, a hand moved automatically to her neck where her barely healed injury was. “I was so confused, I didn’t know where I was or- or-” She took a deep breath, trying to calm her racing heart.
“It’s okay, take your time.” Zoey’s voice was warm, soothing.
“I realized what happened.” She pulled Zoey close, wrapping her arms around the Maknae’s waist and resting her head against her body, just below her breasts. “I died and c-came back,” She sniffled. “B-but my senses, t-they- it was like they were sharper. I used your norigae and the scent that was still attached to it to track you both down.” Rumi closed her eyes, breathing in the familiar smell which was Zoey. Her kind, sweet, adorable Zoey.
The rapper wrapped her arms around her girlfriend, stroking her hair affectionately and kissing the top of her hair.
“I m-managed to f-follow the scent here, the rain washed a lot of it away b-but I went to the p-place that smelled most like you and Mira.”
She nodded. “We had been there before, yeah, the place we found you in.”
The two just stayed like that for a while until Mira’s voice pulled them back to reality.
“Guys, the water’s hot. I got a few buckets from the roof, we got plenty with all the fucking rain.”
Zoey let out a dry chuckle. “Come on, let’s get you cleaned up baby.” She held Rumi’s hand who just followed and sat back down near the fire Mira made. There was a bucket of water next to the chair and another was hanging above the fire, heating up.
Rumi didn’t struggle or argue when the blanket was lowered, exposing her. They had seen her naked before.
She hissed when they cleaned some of the fresher looking injuries. The warm water stinging more than she thought it would.
“I’m sorry,” Mira said, her voice soft while she moved the washingcloth in her hand more carefully now. Even more so when she reached her ribs that had big, dark bruises on them.
“It’s okay.” She was so tired, her body ached and hurt. She wanted to lay down and sleep, but sleep hadn’t come easy to her since-
“Okay baby, we’re done.” Zoey’s sweet voice came through. “We got some clothes for you since, well… the others were damaged so-”
“Thank you, Zo.” She whispered, putting on the shirt, sweater and jeans. She couldn’t stop the yawn that escaped her.
“I think you need to get some sleep.” Mira suggested, cupping her face lovingly and pressing a tender kiss against her cheek.
“Can- will you-” Rumi’s hands automatically grabbed onto Mira’s shirt, her breathing quickened as did her heartbeat.
“What- what’s wrong?” Mira asked, voice full of worry and Zoey quickly put a hand over Rumi’s.
“Rumi? What’s the matter?”
The singer took a few deep breaths to calm herself, looking for Mira to Zoey and back. “I just- I don’t want- to sleep alone.”
Mira’s lips curled into a faint, warm smile. “We’ll join you, but we gotta change into some dry clothes first, okay?”
Rumi calmed down, nodded and walked over to the sleeping corner while the other two quickly changed into something dry. They joined Rumi, tucking themselves close to their leader on either side. Mira being the big spoon for Rumi while Zoey had her back pressed firmly against the singer's chest.
For the first time in a long time she felt truly safe and she listened to the rain outside, the soft cracking of the fire and Zoey’s breathing that slowly evened out even though it hadn’t even been ten minutes since they laid down together.
“Is she asleep?” Mira’s voice startled Rumi even though it was barely above a whisper. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to startle you.”
“That’s okay, I’m still jumpy. But yes, she’s asleep.” She pushed herself a bit more backwards, wanting to feel more of Mira. Her warmth, her body. Everything.
Silence followed and she wasn’t sure if Mira would still be awake when she broke it. “I’m- surprised you two are so okay with me.”
“What do you mean?”
Rumi turned slightly to look at her. “I know- I know what I look like, Mira. And- I know it’s not normal what happened to me-” She tried to swallow the lump that was starting to form in her throat.
Mira cupped her jaw, using her thumb to stroke the skin under her touch before she closed the little distance between them. The kiss was soft and quick but the meaning behind it was overwhelming.
“We love you, we are back together, that’s all that matters.” Her hand moved down and her fingertips brushed over the barely healed wound. “Whatever brought you back to us, we don’t care. You’re still Rumi. Our Rumi. And as long as you still love us, then there’s nothing we can’t handle.”
Rumi smiled and nearly jumped out of her skin when she heard Zoey’s voice.
“Damn right.”
“Oh my god,” Rumi thought for a moment her heart would stop beating. “I thought you were asleep.”
“Mhn, I was.” Zoey mumbled, still half asleep. “I am.” She turned around in Rumi’s arms, nuzzling against her chest. “Sleep.” She muttered before she herself fell back into a peaceful slumber.
Rumi smiled down at her Maknae, kissing her black hair lovingly. She then turned slightly to look over her shoulder at Mira. “I love you both, so much.” Her voice cracked slightly. “It was what kept me going when-” She took a trembling breath, fighting hard to keep the tears from escaping.
“It’s okay, baby.” Mira whispered soothingly, tightening her grip around the shorter woman. “You’re back now, you’re safe, we’re together.” She pressed a kiss against her temple.
Rumi let out a deep, content sigh. She closed her eyes, her body finally relaxing now that she was back where she belonged.
In the arms of the people she loved the most.
Chapter 12: Heat
Summary:
Rumi going into heat and without a mate, it falls upon other peoples shoulders to help her
Notes:
Wasn't sure where to put this, so I put it both here and the "Smutliverse" because there isn't anything sexual going on just yet.
Well, nothing OVERLY sexual...
However, if there is a follow up on this it will be posted in the "Smutliverse" only because that part WILL be sexual.
Cute and fluffy AND sexual.

Chapter Text
Mira wasn’t sure when they started this sweet little ritual but she remembered something similar happened during Rumi’s first heat. It hit Rumi a few weeks after she stopped taking her suppressants after they took care of Gwi-Ma.
Rumi, who never went through a heat, felt like she was hit by a ton of bricks in the form of new emotions and hormones that made her ache in places she’d never felt before.
Zoey was the first one who discovered their leader in her room, whimpering and crying in discomfort on her bed. Being an Omega herself, she recognized the scent the moment she stepped into their shared living quarters. Texting Mira to give her a heads up for when she’d get home too.
The Maknae wouldn’t normally be affected by the smell, but with this being Rumi’s first heat and her hormones going haywire along with the pheromones she was spreading. To say it was hard to keep her thirst under control was putting it mildly. Add a very needy Rumi who whimpered and moaned softly with every touch, Zoey felt her own need and desire rise.
The rapper helped Rumi build a nest on her bed, using some of her own clothes and Mira’s. Once done she was pulled down into said nest by Rumi who turned into a koala and clamped onto Zoey like she was the tree.
Zoey’s heart clenched knowing the discomfort of a heat, especially when you are unmated. She was extremely thankful of the strong and deep bond they shared, otherwise Rumi would’ve been in a lot more trouble if she had no one at all to help her through this difficult time.
The Maknae used her own scent to comfort her fellow Omega, tending to her and soothing her by whispering how proud she was of her. She didn’t mind at all that Rumi sat on her lap, mouth on Zoey’s neck and arms wrapped around her upper body, keeping her close while carefully grinding down on her.
Rumi’s teeth grazed and carefully nibbled down on the scent glands hidden beneath the surface of pale, delicate skin. Not enough to leave a permanent mark, but enough to soothe the worst of her aches and needs.
Zoey tried to calm her racing heart, a difficult task all things considering. Feeling her bandmate grind down on her desperately, slowly rolling her hips and only stopped when the cramps hit. She felt Rumi stiffen on top of her, knowing full well what was going on. She herself remembered being in heat without a mate, her hot, wet core clenching around nothing but air. Rumi was going through the same thing and it tugged at her heartstrings.
Thankfully Mira came home not long after and the two switched places. Rumi sat down in the same position as Zoey with Rumi on her lap, holding onto the Alpha for dear life. Nails dug into Mira’s back and she let out a soft groan before her lips and teeth found the sensitive glands in Rumi’s neck, just behind her ear.
Rumi immediately started squirming on her lap, grinding down harder on the bulge between the Alpha’s legs. Her ragged breath released sounds that were pure pornographic in nature. The redhead was sure that the soft moans, desperate whimpers and pleas for more were enough for her to cum if it weren’t for the barrier of her sweatpants which made Rumi’s grinding down on her much less intense.
Rumi cried softly, tugging at her clothes in frustration and Zoey helped her to take off whichever clothes she wanted removed. Which ended with Rumi not wearing anything at all.
Before she wrapped her arms back around Mira she tugged at her shirt, face flushed in embarrassment. Voice barely above a whisper when she asked the Alpha to remove it, wanting, needing more skin to skin contact.
Mira nodded and removed her shirt, exposing pale skin and muscles underneath that moved and tensed each time Rumi rolled her hips.
Zoey settled behind Rumi, and with Mira in the front she was perfectly settled and squished in between.
The Omega was a sweating, squirming mess by the time she reached her first orgasm from simply sliding her soaked core over Mira’s bulge. It wouldn’t be the last one because the trio remained seated like that for several more hours.
In the end Rumi’s heat had settled enough for the poor woman to sleep, her hands entangled with Zoey’s and Mira’s all throughout the night.
During that time they would just repeat what they had been doing so far. Rumi would settle on Mira’s lap and grind her frustration and pain away.
And Mira, Mira endured.
Was it hard?
Oh yes, extremely.
She was an Alpha after all but her natural instinct to breed was pushed down and buried deep because Rumi needed her and Zoey both. She needed comfort, affection and intimacy that required a bond only a mate could give.
However Rumi didn’t have one and both Mira and Zoey stepped up to the task to help her through the worst moments of her heat the first time.
Her second heat announced itself a day or two ago and with Zoey gone it fell on Mira’s shoulders alone to help Rumi through it.
They were in Mira’s room this time in the middle of the nest Rumi built with clothes that belonged to all three of them.
The Omega back on her usual spot on Mira’s lap wearing nothing but a big hoodie with a zipper in the front. Arms wrapped around the redhead and her mouth on Mira’s neck, close to the glands under her soft, pale skin.
Mira purred softly, stroking soothingly over Rumi’s back in an attempt to comfort her friend. Rumi purred back, nuzzling the Alpha’s neck to try and get the affection she so desperately needed in her current condition.
While Rumi’s head rested on Mira’s shoulder she herself very much tried to ignore the ever growing pressure down between her own legs. She tried distracting herself with her phone and using a breathing technique she had seen online somewhere. However, having a whimpering, squirmy Omega on your lap who was grinding down on the most sensitive part of your body made it quite the difficult task.
Difficult wasn’t even the right term, more like impossible. Especially whenever Rumi rubbed herself to orgasm on top of her every once in a while.
It was strange however that today it seemed to take her longer than the first time to calm down and Mira noticed the cramps were getting worse.
She felt Rumi flinch when she spoke up. “Hey- sorry, sorry-” She pecked Rumi’s neck affectionately. “Are- are you okay?” She swallowed hard and took a deep breath to calm her pounding heart and keep herself under control now that Rumi stopped moving.
She wasn’t sure if the Omega heard her and when she was about to repeat the question she felt Rumi shake her head and her body trembling that had nothing to do with the temperature. “What’s the matter?”
“I- I’m- fine.” She mumbled softly, lips back on the sensitive spot behind Mira’s ear.
“Rumi.”
Rumi’s body stiffened the way Mira said her name, not in an angry way but stern nonetheless. She pulled back slightly, her face flushed all the way down her neck and reaching as far as her chest. The hoodie was open and the patterns underneath glowing a faint mixture of light blue and pink.
“Oh my god, are you alright?” She cupped Rumi’s face with both hands and she let out a needy whine. “What’s wrong?”
Rumi put her own hands on Mira’s, nuzzling against the palm of one of them until another cramp hit. She cried out softly, her hands moved to the redheads shoulders to catch herself before she could double down. “Mira-” She sobbed, hating herself for sounding so pathetic and needy.
“I’m here, I’m right here, just tell me what you need.” Her own problems were forgotten when worry seemed to overwhelm the Alpha. She used her scent and wrapped her arms around Rumi’s body, pulling her close, holding her firmly against her own. She purred softly, desperately in an attempt to calm Rumi down but nothing seemed to be working.
Rumi’s body continued to tremble, her hot breath and needy whimpers close to her ear while nails dug into Mira’s back. “M-Mira- Mira, I n-need you. Please, please , it hurts.” She cried softly, face hidden in the crook of Mira’s neck, desperately seeking comfort and release from the torment that was her heat.
Mira tightened her grip, she wasn’t an idiot, there was a solution to Rumi’s pain and the Alpha inside her roared. However she wasn’t like other Alpha’s, jumping onto the opportunity to breed whenever it presented itself. This wasn’t some random Omega, this was Rumi. Her sweet, kind, generous, overly cuddly since she stopped hiding herself away, Rumi. She loved her so much, their bond so strong and deep Mira felt like she was in pain too whenever a cramp hit.
“Just- just tell me,” Mira whispered, her eyes closed to focus on her breathing. “Tell me what you need, I’ll do anything to help you.”
Rumi’s teeth grazed over the delicate skin of Mira’s neck, digging in but not deep enough to pierce the skin and leave a mark. The Alpha could hear Rumi’s ragged breath, the soft, needy moans that escaped those sweet pink lips that sent shivers down Mira’s spine and settled low in her belly.
“Y-you promise?” Rumi asked, voice raw and uneven from held back emotion.
“Yes, yes! I want-” Mira swallowed the lump in her throat, her fogged mind short circuiting and having trouble to find words and produce proper sentences. “I w-want to help you, just tell me.” She finally managed to force the words out.
Rumi whimpered while she bucked her hips, pressing down onto Mira who then groaned in response. “I want- you.”
Mira took a deep breath, the pressure in her boxers almost unbearable and she needed a second to put her mind back together before she could form an answer. “You have me, right here.” She said, letting her own teeth graze over Rumi’s heated and sensitive skin.
“N-no- I mean y-es, but,” She mumbled something that Mira didn’t hear.
The Alpha cleared her throat. “Rumi, speak up, please. I didn’t hear what you said.” She tried to sound calm but she felt like her entire body was on fire.
Rumi waited for a heartbeat before she finally repeated herself. “I-inside, I n-need you inside m-me.”
Oh.
Oh.

Thanks for reading!
I hope you enjoyed it!
Sorry for lack of updates, work is keeping me busy and on days off I really wanna SLEEP
Chapter 13: Cold
Summary:
This is a possible piece for a chapter I've thought about today:
Mira leaves home after coming out as a lesbian and her parents try to arrange a marriage for her with a man three times her age.
She either meets Rumi face to face for the first time after leaving home who offers her a place to stay or Rumi and Mira meet at work while Mira lives out of her car and then she moves in (eventually) the rent is cheap but its a shithole and the girls dont have much money but they try to make the best of a shitty situation.
Rumi is an orphan and tried to start over after finally getting away from her abusive ex bf
They grow closer over time, lots of fluff, some angst here and there (hey its me after all) and Zoey will eventually also be thrown into the mix because, Polytrix!
The story isnt fleshed out yet, its just an idea for now just like the Zombie apocalypse.
Anyway, enjoy this fluffy chapter!

Chapter Text
Mira laid in bed, relishing in the warmth that the electric blanket provided and the thick duvet keeping all that lovely heat trapped underneath.
She didn’t have much considering personal belongings but this was one of the few items she had bought with the money she managed to save up before leaving home.
She was in the middle of scrolling through tiktok, laughing softly at the silly videos when she heard a soft knock on her door before it opened slowly.
She could hear Rumi’s chattering teeth before seeing her appear from behind the door. “M-Mira?” She let out a relieved sigh when she saw that her roomie was still awake. “Oh t-thank god.” She took a shuddering breath, both arms wrapped around herself in an attempt to keep warm.
Mira frowned, worried, putting her phone aside. “What- are you okay?” She eyed Rumi up and down and noticed how she trembled from top to toe.
“I’m f-freezing.” She whimpered, hating herself at how needy she sounded. “Can I please sleep here tonight? You might have a popsicle as a roomie otherwise tomorrow.”
Mira snorted but moved her blanket aside and Rumi was on the bed and cuddled up to Mira in less than 2 seconds.
“Oh thank you, thankyouthankyouthankyou!”
Mira smiled warmly down at her shivering friend, pulling her into a warm embrace. “You’re welco- ooooooooHHHhhhhh MYGOD!” Mira shrieked when she felt Rumi’s ice cold hands touch the bare skin of her stomach and back and keep them there.
“I’m sorry!” She apologised but didn’t remove her hands in the slightest. “You’re- you’re just so nice and warm.”
“I-i’ts fine.” Mira let out a deep breath, slowly getting used to the cold touch that slowly began warming up. “Fuck, you are cold.” She moved around the narrow bed slightly and settled Rumi between her legs instead. Back pressed firmly against Mira’s chest and the redhead's arms wrapped around Rumi’s still trembling body. “Take off your shirt, skin on skin contact is the best way to warm up.” She explained when Rumi looked at her with confusion and gay panic.
“O-okay.” She moved slowly, careful not to elbow Mira in the face by accident while removing the layers of clothing from her torso, leaving herself in her sports bra. She almost regretted it but that moment was over when Mira’s bare arms wrapped back around her. Pulling her against the redhead’s chest, she too was just wearing a sports bra and Rumi felt like she moved from the deepest and coldest parts on earth to the surface of the sun.
“Better?” Mira asked, leaning backwards a little, thankful she had enough pillows.
“Y-yeah, much, thank you. For, you know, letting me sleep here.” Rumi followed Mira’s movements, leaning backwards against her roomie. She sighed deeply, content now that she was finally warm. Although the heat from the electric blanket had nothing to do with the inferno raging inside her.
