Summary
After three days, Helen still hadn’t seen a whisper of Madeline. The house was large enough for both of them to roam around as they pleased without coming into contact with one another. And yet, it was rare for even an hour to pass without a “Hel?” or “Mad?” reverberating off the walls.
Helen felt more guilty than she’d like to admit. As frustrating as it was that Madeline often ignored all concepts of personal space, she hadn’t exactly committed a crime.
Still. She could have left Helen alone, could have known that Helen just needed a distraction away from her, could have peeked through the door looking less goddamn marvelous, with bright eyes and damp lips that made Helen want to—
