Revelations

Summary:

Charlie never knew this, but her parents hid a giant secret from her of how she really came to be and with Lilith out of the picture now, Lucifer has to face this truth alone especially when he now has to deal with someone from the past that has been living in the hotel for nearly the past year with his daughter and the unknowing connection they both share.

Will Lucifer come clean to them both or will he let things stay the same in ignorant bliss?

Notes:

Just for funsies we're going to ignore Charlie's canon age okay? I just really wanted to explore this What If that has been floating in my head for awhile.

Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

“A child?” The queen raised her brow.

“Yeah!” Lucifer, king of Hell beamed.

“Why now? We’ve been married for eons and you never expressed wanting a child before.”

He flushed and rubbed his neck, “Well um, I’ve been seeing the Hellborn with their families and well… I know things haven’t been the same for us in a long while now so maybe… we need a baby to spice things up!”

Lilith looked skeptical, voicing, “And how would you propose we do this? You know carrying a baby doesn’t appeal to me and even if it did you know I am cursed by heaven to never have children so it’s a moot point.”

“I know! But what if I was the one that carried? I still have my angelic parts that allows me to do so!”

Lilith’s eyes widen and touched her chin, “That is true… but that would just leave us with one other problem. Finding a suitable donor worthy of siring a royal heir to our throne.”

“By all means Lily, please find someone you like for the job.”

“But in order for your parts to work, it requires physical contact does it not?”

Lucifer gulped and blushed bright yellow, “Yeah… it does.” Completely forgetting that about his own body.

“And we can’t just have any demon do this, the Sins and the Goetia will no doubt see this as an opportunity to gain more power from us.”

Lucifer shuddered at the thought of bedding either Mam or Satan for this as Lily rightfully pointed out that they would just want to boost their status and Mammon certainly wouldn’t be able to keep his mouth shut and just go bragging to everyone that he helped fathered the next prince or princess of Hell. Holding that over them forever.

Ozzie at least would be perfect to have in bed as he is the embodiment of Lust and is just an all-around nice guy but it would just feel so weird as he felt a brotherly kinship toward him and vice versa.

Lilith continued on, now fully on board with this suggestion, “A Sinner is the most ideal choice as we need someone with the same biological structure as I do so we can hide any differences the child might inherit from when it’s born. And we can pay them with hush money so they can never speak of being the child’s sire but still… that’s much too risky for a scandal to happen in the process. No, we must think of an alternative where the donor won’t have a clue that they sired a child with you.”

Lucifer’s eyes widen, “Lil… you mean…?”

They both looked up as if they could see Earth’s grassy meadows and blue skies just above them.

The Queen of Hell stated, “It makes sense, I was human once after all, the first woman before Eve claimed the title. And humans become Sinners in our realm gaining powers so our child will still obtain that.”

“So… I guess now all I have to do is go to Earth… and find someone…”

Her lips upturned and she lifted his chin with her fingertip, “If you wish to back out of this…”

“N- no!” he moved back, “Of course not!”

“Good, because the more I think about it, I would very much would like a child to raise as long as I don’t have to go through any labor of bringing it into the world. So, thank you, Luci for relieving me of that burden.”

He hung his head, “But… you’re okay with me having a one-night stand just so I can get pregnant?”

She shrugged, “We don’t really have much of a choice. Take all the time you need to find a human you like enough to sleep with.”

Lucifer knew she was right, but at the same time the decision of having a child was suppose to bring them closer not further apart then they currently were. As lately his queen was feeling distant from him and he thought they needed more in their relationship, hence why he made the suggestion in the first place.

But now he’s painted himself in a corner and will now have to find someone from Earth that he will have to seduce and take to bed with. But who? That was the big question.

PRESENT DAY, HAZBIN HOTEL

Lucifer was getting used to his new surroundings of the hotel he helped rebuilt after the big battle with Adam and his army. At least it helped he had his own private room on the top floor along with his daughter’s own suite with her lover but unfortunately that disrespectful sinner overlord was also there with his radio tower.

No Sinner should ever get under his skin but this one did. They had the guts to meet him head-on and actually dared to claim Charlie as one of his own! That tacky POS!

Lucifer was still fuming over that even though he must play nice for his daughter’s sake. But at least that bastard has to follow the same rules as him if they were to all live under the same roof together now. However, that didn’t stop them from making cutting remarks now and then during leisure time when they were in the lounge or even playing the occasional prank on the other and started keeping score without Charlie knowing.

This morning for example, that bellhop put Chile peppers in Lucifer’s pancakes when he was momentarily distracted by Charlie’s latest redemption plan ever since heaven sent word about the snake sinner ascending into heaven during the battle.

A shock to them all, especially since Lucifer was outcasted for making one mistake but they allowed a sinner to be redeemed, go figure. But hey! That just means his daughter’s dream wasn’t hopeless after all! And the best part was according to Ma- Vaggie and that spider guy, the radio demon had no faith whatsoever in the project when he first came here and now with this new information it completely blew up in his face! So, ha! Take that you creepy deer!

But anyway, Lucifer knew he needed to even the score for that bastard desecrating his breakfast like that and portaled into the radio tower while the overlord was making his rounds around the city with a whoopee cushion in his hand. Giggling mischievously, thinking how the next time the overlord does a broadcast he’ll sit on the cushion and it’ll go off all over the airwaves for everyone to hear! The bastard will be so humiliated!

But as he was about to do this, he stopped and took a good look around. The setting felt familiar somehow. It was just an ordinary radio station but something was nagging at him that he knew this place somehow… and then a repressed memory suddenly blinked into his mind’s eye making him gasp and jump, being startled with his wings popping out and dropping the cushion in the process.

He started breathing heavily. No… there was no way…

But if it was… Fate was a cruel being.

He quickly summoned a portal and was back in the safety of his room to go cry under the covers.

NEW ORLEANS, 1927

Alastor Boudreaux was heading for his shift at the radio station, humming as he went. The street lights were starting to be lit up as the city’s night life began picking up and he could see his dear friend Mimzy wearing a fur coat on her way to the club she works at. She spots him from across the street and the two exchanged waves before going on their way to their separate destinations.

He makes it to the station and gets ready to make the evening broadcast.

Meanwhile, an unused pentagram in the bayou began glowing and Lucifer emerged from its reddish-pinkish glow. As this was but one of the only ways he can get to Earth where communities of humans practiced the dark arts and this part of the planet was a hotbed for such practices, the best location of finding a suitable candidate for him and Lil’s donor.

The trick now would be to find someone appealing to him so they can bed together and be done with it.

With a snap of his fingers, he shifted his appearance to something more human. Peach skin, blue eyes, rounded ears, and a cute button nose. Then he changed his attire to something more suitable to blend in with the local populace.

A black suit and bowler hat with a disguised version of his cane.

He was ready and began walking straight toward the city lights.

Back at the station, Alastor was winding down on his broadcast before signing off with his usual smile on his face. The station’s owner begrudgingly congratulated him on another job well done as Alastor kept the smile on his face.

On that note, he set out, and started heading for the club Mimzy would be at when suddenly he bumped into someone, forcing them to face each other.

“Apologies-“

“Sorry my fault-“

They slowly moved back and grew quiet, staring in bewilderment.

The man was short compared to how tall Alastor was and he was pale compared to Al’s dark complexion but… something about him just seemed to draw Alastor in but what?

As for Lucifer he could sense a dark energy coming from this human. A Sinner in the making if there’s already this much darkness surrounding this person. Lily would want him to chose someone that had a connection to Hell before death, giving their child that much of a higher chance to inheriting great power upon their birth.

He should be logical and look for more options before finalizing this decision. But still, what were the odds he would find someone that fit Lilith’s criteria so perfectly this early in the search! He had to stick with this man no matter what!

Lucifer cleared his throat and said, “Lou Magne.”

Alastor composed himself as he pleasantly responded, “Alastor Boudreaux, quite a pleasure to meet you, perhaps you’ve heard my voice on the radio before?”

“I have had not the pleasure, I’m new to town you see and currently lost in my whereabouts, perhaps you would like to show me around?” giving him a sultry smirk.

Alastor blinked in confusion, not sure of what to make of this, sure he had seen his fair share of queer men and women hooking up at Mimzy’s club but that was an open secret and something you never spoke about in public without people screaming fire and brimstone at you and the person outed would be forever ostracized in society.

Now Alastor could care less about the goings-on with religious bigotry as it was the same thing for people that had a different skin tone from the people that had white skin that were on top of the social ladder and calling the shots. If anything, he didn’t believe in any religion since it’s pretty clear those churches would rather take advantage of scared people that didn’t know any better about what life was really like outside their bubble.

But unfortunately, he had to keep his boss appeased by showing he was a good boy that followed the rules their society deemed appropriate or else he would lose the one thing he had worth living in this life.

But the man before him seemed harmless enough and surely knew even as a white man he needed to be careful and tone down any flamboyant traits he had if he didn’t want to be outed as queer. Besides, it isn’t as if Alastor was helpless, oh no, he had a plan should anything go wrong with this excursion so for now, he’ll play nice.

“Why certainly my good man! Lucky for you, I grew up in this city! Let me show you some of my favorite sights!”

Lou beamed, “Lead the way!”

Alastor did as Lucifer tagged right along.

PRESENT DAY

Charlie was starting worry she hadn’t seen her dad at all since breakfast, and thought maybe he went back to the palace and she had Razzle check but no, he wasn’t there, then she sent a text to the Sins wondering if he had a meeting with them but nope that wasn’t it either.

Finally, she had to conclude that he was in his room here in the hotel and knocked on the door, “Dad? You in there? You didn’t come down for lunch or dinner and no one has seen you all day, I’m getting worried.”

Lucifer was laying in his bed, with his duckie-pattern blanket cocooning him as he whimpered hearing his daughter’s voice from the other side of the door.

How the fuck did they end up in this situation? How was it in a millionth chance that Charlie’s sire would be in this very hotel right now?! God he wasn’t going to be able to act normally around them anymore!

A pit formed in his stomach, as he realized, Shit! Does he know he spawned Charlie?! That comment he made sures implies it! But how could he possibly know? I was in disguise and there’s no way he would know I could get pregnant as a human man! He has no idea; I made sure of that!

But the paranoia was getting the better of him, he needed to know for sure that Alastor still has no idea about Charlie being biologically his.

Charlie called out to him again, getting him out of his spiral.

He squeaked out, “Yeah, sweetie, I’m okay! I think those peppers got the better of me and just need a day to recuperate.”

“Oh no! I’ll certainly be having a stern talk with Alastor about that! If you two keep pranking each other like this then I will have to insist you can’t do anything food-related if it’s just going hurt one of you! Goodness! What if you cause a food allergy?! That does it I have to set some limitations! No pranks for a full month until you two can get your act together!”

“Aw, okay sweetie…” he actually sounded disappointed since playing pranks on the radio demon was a whole lot of fun until the discovery happened.

“You just rest up then, and hopefully you’ll be better by tomorrow!”

“Sure! Thanks!” he nervously replied before he could hear her leaving the door.

Alastor was grumbling under his breath; how was he suppose to know angels had delicate stomachs?! Now he can’t even prank the little king for a whole month! Oh well at least he can’t do the same without getting an earful from Charlie. So, it’s the little things that count.

He made his way to his tower to ready for another broadcast when he spotted a whoopee cushion on the floor, and picked it up with disgust.

“Charming…” knowing exactly who was behind this.

It was clear the king was going to put this on his seat so that he would embarrass himself in front of his listeners and he would have succeeded too if something hadn’t prevented him from doing so. Perhaps that’s when his stomach took a turn for the worst and was forced to take bedrest, whatever the case might be he should return this juvenile toy back to his majesty and shadowed away.

Chapter Text

Lucifer didn’t hear Alastor manifesting into his room nor did he sense the intruder as he was too lost in his thoughts about what he should do next in his current predicament when suddenly he heard that filtered voice.

“I believe this belongs to you.”

Lucifer was jump scared as he turned to Alastor holding the whoopee cushion in his hand before discarding it in disdain.

“Was that really the best you could come up?”

Lucifer scowled, “At least then people would have known what a joke you are.”

Alastor rolls his eyes, “Says the king that acts more like a court jester.”

Luci grinded his teeth before pulling the covers over himself once more, huffing out, “I’m not in the mood for this.”

Al commented, “Ah, so that’s where she got it from, should have known.”

“What, in my kingdom, are you talking about?”

“Not too long ago, just before the battle in fact, your daughter was all mopey like this in her room when she discovered the truth about her paramour being an angel.”

Lucifer sighed, “Yeah… I can see why that is… I’m glad they figured it out.”

“You’re not angry that she’s with a former exorcist?”

“I have no right to judge of who my daughter loves, Alastor.”

There was a pause in the air and Lucifer wondered if the overlord had left and slowly removed the covers to find him still standing there but frozen.

“What? Why are you giving me that look?”

“My name. You actually said my name.”

Lucifer realized his mistake immediately as he had just been calling Alastor bellhop or sinner in his presence but ever since his memories came flooding back, it felt natural to call him by his actual name since they were strictly speaking an item once. But right now, it was just super awkward especially when Alastor has no idea of who Lou Magne really was. To him they were just strangers that never met before when in reality, they have.

In a panicked fit, Lucifer used his magic to push Alastor out of the room and warded the surrounding area so that Alastor could not shadow back in. It was a coward’s way of doing things but Lucifer was just not brave enough to face his past yet with this man… this demon…

Who even was he now from the person he knew so long ago?

Those were the answers he needed to seek from someone who could tell him that.

NEW ORLEANS, 1927

Lou and Alastor were sitting in a night club now after the impromptu sightseeing, drinking and laughing away.

Luci commented while looking out the window next to them, “It really is such a beautiful city, you’re lucky to live here.”

Al hummed, “It has its charms but it is not without its problems too.”

Lou hummed back, “No place is paradise, except for heaven.”

“I don’t know about that, I’m not much of a believer.”

Lucifer of course suspected as much but it was nice to have verbal confirmation. So, he questioned.

“What is it you do all day, Mr. Boudreaux?”

“Mostly, I just help my dear mother at our place near the bayou, then when it’s close to sunset I have my radio broadcast to do.”

“Is it just you and your mother then? What about your father?”

Alastor went stone face and clenched onto his drinking glass, Lucifer realized he touched a nerve.

“Sorry, if that’s a touchy subject…?”

“A bit but it was to be expected as I have been asked that many times over the years. It isn’t a secret that my father was a white man thanks to the complexion I have. In fact, it’s the only reason I was able to work at the radio station was because of my skin tone.”

Lou was baffled; this is what humans have been up to since Eden? Blatant discrimination against the other even though they were one species? The absurdity of it all made his head spin. Guess this explains why there’s been a flux of Sinners over the past centuries if they’re letting such stupid things dictate their mortal lives and just be senselessly cruel for no apparent reason.

Alastor continued on, “He was never in the picture given it is forbidden for people of color to be married to a white person but I did know of him and he knew of me as he would come see my mother over the years but not for anything good…” his eyes darken.

Lucifer could see that dark energy again going up in waves.

“But thankfully, he was found dead one day and he will never have to bother my dear mother again.”

Lou sadly voiced, “I’m sorry you had to go through that. Such a horrible man should never be around children or women if they’re just going to hurt them.”

“So true… now then what has brought you to New Orleans in the first place, Mr. Magne?”

“Ah! Yes… I’m… a traveling entrepreneur! I am seeking to expand my business here in New Orleans.” Figuring that would be the best cover-up while trying to get close to Alastor.

“Fascinating! And what exactly is the nature of your business, sir?”

“Oh, um…” Lucifer put his hand behind his back as he thought of the first thing that came to mind when it came to his creative endeavors back home. Manifesting a hard rubber duck in his palm and showed it off, “Rubber ducks!”

Alastor could only stare in bewilderment before he released a giant guffaw, and pound his fist against the table as Lou looked on in annoyance.

Al wiped a tear away, “Oh I definitely needed a good laugh today.”

Lou rolled his eyes, “So glad you’re amused.”

“Apologies it’s just that I fail to see how you could be selling those things when they don’t really add anything to society.”

“That’s the point! It’s supposed to be used for fun!”

“Fun? What’s fun about a non-alive duck?”

Lou sighed, “You have no imagination whatsoever.”

“You don’t know what to do with it do you?”

Lou blanched while retorting, “I’m working on it!”

A pause hung over them until they both started to snort and burst into another round of laughter.

Lucifer hasn’t had this much fun in years! Now he was more than certain he picked the right human to be the donor of his and Lilith’s child. Now he just needed to seduce him.

PRESENT DAY

Husk was getting ready to close up shop for the night, when the king of all people took a seat at the bar and requested for an apple martini.

The king took it in one gulp and requested for another.

Not one to question their powerful ruler, he gave it to him and same thing happened again.

Finally, by the sixth glass, Husk took the chance to say, “Don’t you think that’s quite enough, your majesty?”

“I just need to be drunk enough to get this off my chest.”

The cat sighed, “Guess that means something major must’ve happened.” Getting his own bottle and started drinking from it.

“Did it ever!” Luci slightly slurred, “I can’t believe I didn’t connect the dots sooner! All this time, that radio prick was my daughter’s sire!”

Husk choked mid drink and spat it out, in a coughing fit before eying the king in horror, “Tell me you’re joking.”

Lucifer shook his head, “Alas my good man I am not.” His head slummed against the counter as his left hand twirled one his empty glasses. He then began his long tale of woe of how he and Lilith couldn’t have children together and he had to seek out a sperm donor that could get him pregnant.

A lot of that definitely went over Husk’s head as that was too much information to process at once but kept on being a sounding board for the king as he didn’t want anything to be held against him down the line.

Then the king gets to the part where he first met Alastor and he just had to ask.

“He told you his name was Alastor and you didn’t think it was the same guy?”

“It was a long time ago! And he’s different from the Alastor I knew! Plus, that voice of his doesn’t sound anything like that sweet voice from when I first heard it…” he blushed fondly at the memory.

Husk groaned, “Please keep that to yourself, your majesty.”

“So… with that said, can you give me any idea as to what he’s like now? Obviously, I know he’s overlord now which isn’t surprising I knew he had the potential with his list of sins in life but even so what’s he like when he isn’t broadcasting screams across the city and being a giant prick in general?”

Husk shrugged, “Afraid I can’t say, he keeps to himself quite often and refuses to share anything and what little information I do know I caught it in a moment when he didn’t notice I was listening in.”

“Hmm, yes being soul-contracted does put limitations on the sinner, I almost forgot about that…”

“If you’re worried about him knowing about Charlie’s true parentage, pretty sure that guy would have tried to do something ages ago if that were the case. After all what you just shared is valuable knowledge that anyone would gladly have to boost their standing in this place.”

“But now that you do know…?”

“Trust me I’m not stupid to run my mouth off with this. For one no one would really believe me and two, this is your personal business between you, your daughter, and that demon I have to call boss to. Whatever you decide to do next, I won’t get in your way.”

Lucifer smiled to this, “You’re a good friend, Mr. Husk. My thanks for your discretion.”

Husk grunted in acknowledgement, knowing he was going to need another bottle before the night was up.

The next day in the lounge, Angel noticed how hung-over Husk was, inquiring, “Rough night, Husky?”

The cat growled while holding a cold compress to his head, “Yeah. Pretty much.”

“I thought you were heading to bed after I left the bar last night?”

“I was but then I was visited by his majesty.”

“Oh-oo! That is something! So, what did our esteemed short king end up sharing?”

“Can’t say, what I heard last night must never be spoken of.”

“Aww, boo!”

“Trust me Legs, it’s some serious confidential information that you must never get your hands on. I’m still reeling from the whole thing.”

“Damn, that big huh?”

“The biggest.”

Just then Alastor shadowed in, and Husk held his breath hoping his boss didn’t hear that just now.

Thankfully his fears went unfounded as Alastor said, “Good morning gents!”

Angel smirked, “Hey Smiles~”

“My Husker, you look rather ragged this morning, trouble at the bar?”

“Somethin’ like that…” the cat grumbled.

Al tsked, “How unfortunate!”

Husk narrowed his eyes, “Why are you acting so nice all of a sudden…?”

Alastor laughed, “Ah-ha! Good observation skills, Husker! Truth is, I’m trying to practice for when his majesty is around, so that Charlie can see I am at least making the effort more so than him.”

“Sounds forced. What’s your real reason, Smiles?” Angel questioned.

Alastor twisted his neck, snapping as he turned and gritted out, “What other reason do I need?”

Niffty came scampering in and raised her hand while bouncing, “Oh-oh! Is it because the ultimate bad boy kicked you out of his room yesterday and now, you’re trying to pry answers from him?!”

Angel blanched and gasped, “Really?! But I thought you weren’t interested in sex at all!”

Radio static filled the air and Alastor’s voice went distorted, “That’s not what happened!”

“Then enlighten us!”

Alastor stopped with the static and composed himself, “I was merely trying to have a chat with his highness when he just suddenly kicked and warded me out for no apparent reason!”

Husk hid his expression to the side, taking a good guess as to why that was given his conversation with the king last night.

Angel mentioned, “Okay yeah, that makes more sense, I mean you and the king do give off this weird vibe of sexual tension toward the other but even I can admit that’s wishful thinking on my part. You’re an ace, aren’t you? And therefore, inexperienced in these matters.”

“Be as it may, you’re lucky that my good friend Rosie informed me of this ace talk nonsense so I can clarify a few things. Yes, I am asexual but I am not inexperienced.”

Angel’s eyes widen.

Alastor pointed out, “Because contrary to popular belief, my effeminate fellow, I have done it before, once.”

Angel’s jaw dropped, “Wha- When?! Who?!”

“When I was alive. It was with a man I found amusing. A travelling rubber duck salesman of all things.”

“Seriously?! But Vox always complains that he couldn’t get to any base with you!” The spider starts laughing hysterically and kicked his legs up, “Oh the irony!”

“Indeed, I’ve been saving that piece of information close to my chest in case I ever needed it to finally get that moronic TV out of my life.”

“Oh! So that he knows you’re,” making air quotes with all four of his hands, “’Used goods’?”

“As tasteless as that answer is, I can’t deny that’s exactly what I hope will convey to that old pal of mine.”

“Still, though, that person must have been pretty special if you haven’t done it since.” The porn star commented.

“Hmm,” putting a hand on his cheek fondly, “he was a rare exception, hardly anybody has been able to catch my eye the way that he had.”

“But then what’s your deal with the king? Your sudden beef with him came out of nowhere.”

“Why it was because of his reckless abandonment of our dear Charlie and their kingdom! He needed to know she found someone that was far more supportive of her goals and looking out for the kingdom at large!”

“Still… don’t you think you were toeing the line, just a little bit? The guy could have easily have smote ya!”

Husk spoke up, “Have to say, I agree with Angel, that was a dangerous gamble you took Boss. We know now that Charlie took after him but we didn’t know that then. He’s the king for a reason and our battle with heaven was proof of that. You really were acting recklessly that day when you’re always cautious and thinking ahead. It was surprising.”

Niffty offhandedly voices from the ceiling while cleaning stray cobwebs, “He’s right, Alastor, you never made a move so bold like that before. But I get it, the ultimate bad boy has that effect on people.” She giggles evilly.

Angel smirks deviously, “As in making them go crazy for him…?”

Alastor’s radio static came back, “Don’t you dare insinuate that!

Husk retorted, “And we’re not! But you got to at least acknowledge that the whole thing was pretty damn weird!”

Alastor calmed down and mulled over his reluctant employee’s words, because for better or for worst the cat demon was wise in his ways and if even Niffty could sense something was off about him that day then maybe he needed some time to reassess of what exactly made him go off like that. His own reasoning was solid but… was there more to it? Just seeing Lucifer and hearing his voice for the first time… something within him just stirred and he had to act on the impulse.

And of course, there was that strange reaction from Lucifer yesterday which tells him that the king knows something he knows not.

Suddenly the image of Lou came into his mind’s eye and he went still. They looked so much alike, the human he knew then and the king he knows now. The coloring was different yes, but the facial features, the height, and that blonde hair were very much similar.

It couldn’t be… and yet…

He shook his head. Perhaps this was the true reason he was annoyed at the small king; he reminded him too much of a man he once cherished and Lucifer was already a thorn in his side due to the power he held so it felt he was being mocked by a past that could never come back to him.

It was all the more reason to hate their little monarch.

NEW ORLEANS, 1927

The club was closing up for the night and Alastor and Lou stepped out onto the streets with nothing but the street lamps lighting their way.

Alastor inquired, “Which inn are you staying in? I would be happy to accompany you.”

Lou smirked, “Would you now?” leaning in closer and sultry moving his finger up Alastor’s chest, “Maybe… even stay for a night cap?” and booped his nose.

Alastor smirked back, “Alas no, I cannot. For as much as I enjoy your company, even I know this is a scandal in the making if I let you get that far with me.”

Lou got closer, whispering sweetly in his ear, “But we would be very careful, no one will have to know…”

Alastor shook his head and moved back, “Mr. Magne, I mean it get that preconceived notion out of your head now or you will regret it.” Scowling darkly at him giving Lucifer chills but not the bad kind.

Lou then grinned, “You have boundaries, I respect that in a person. Truth be told I figured you weren’t going to be an easy sell that quickly.”

Alastor deeply frowned, “And what makes you think you can still have me? I’ll just keep turning you away.”

“Hmm, I can be…” Rubbing his nails against his suit before looking at them haughtily, “quite persuasive when I want to be.”

Alastor gritted his teeth and in one swift move he pushed Lou against the wall of an alleyway as he snarled, “How dare you! I am not some prostitute you can just hire on a whim!” he starts pulling a knife out and put it against Lucifer’s throat, “In fact… you can say I am your worst nightmare…” pushing the blade on the neck causing it to cut and bleed.

But to Alastor’s surprise Lou wasn’t whimpering in terror, in fact when taking a good look at him Lou wasn’t scared at all! The blonde’s face instead was showing intrigue, not an inch of fright on it.

Sadistic. The man was absolutely sadistic just like Alastor was.

No wonder he was drawn to him the moment they met, he found himself a kindred spirit.

Alastor slowly lowered his knife down. Before him was a dangerous individual so he had to play his cards right.

Lou smiled and questioned, “So how long have you been killing people?”

Alastor coolly responded, “Well how long as it been for you?”

“Oh, I don’t kill unless I have to, no my niche is more about torture to those that rightfully deserve it.”

Al’s lips upturned, “Same my good fellow, I only kill when necessary. Although I do have a desire to kill my boss but the fool still has his uses.”

Lou smirked knowingly, “Because you would be out of the only job you love otherwise.”

Alastor rolled his eyes, “What astute observation skills you have.” He then said, “Well I’m waiting.”

“Waiting for what?” Lucifer was genuinely confused.

“For you to threaten me of course! You obviously want to bed me but as I am refusing your advances you can just force me to come with you!”

It was Lou’s turn to scowl as he voiced, “Ehh, no, that’s not how I operate. No, I want you to decide that with your own free will to want that with me. Do I want it to happen as soon as possible? Yes. Because I’m not going to be here forever. But I can’t force you and I never will.”

Alastor mulled over his words and actually thought for a moment before asking, “Would you find someone else if I still refused you down the line?”

“Yes.” Lucifer replied without hesitation. “I would prefer it would be you as you have caught my eye faster than any others I have met along the way but it’s not fair to you if you’re uncomfortable with the idea. I want it to be an enjoyable experience between the both of us.”

Alastor was momentarily stunned; it was flattering to know that he was Lou’s first choice and perhaps was a little sadden that the smaller man would just find someone else to get his knicks in if Alastor didn’t change his mind in time.

So, he slowly asks, “Just how long are you going to be in New Orleans?”

Lou was genuinely shocked, it wasn’t a yes but it definitely wasn’t a no either so there was still a chance!

“At least a month then I must go back to my ki- hometown.”

“Hmm, I see. I make no promises but perhaps if we were better acquainted before your departure, I might consider your proposition. Providing I can get something in return from you.”

“That’s reasonable, what did you have in mind?”

Alastor just grinned menacingly.

PRESENT DAY

Angel Dust was once more being put through the wringer at work and was only now able to take a break since Val has been busy talking to Vox about this latest production.

The two got into a squabble about the costs as Val was insisting it was well worth the money.

Vox needed his own break from how ridiculous his partner’s notion was. He found Angel by the craft services table and got a drink.

“So. How’s that’s radio dick at the princess’s hotel?”

Angel got his own drink, “Same as always.” Before sipping.

“He hasn’t broadcasted in a while, what did he get low viewership for boring his audience?”

“He’s… been busy with other matters.”

“Oh? What kind of matters?”

“I don’t know, something about him and the king getting into another tiff.”

Normally Angel would be more careful about mentioning things going on at the hotel as it was his safe space but the poor guy was just so tired that his lips just came loose before he could stop himself in time.

Vox started to spark at that piece of information and uttered, “The king and him get into fights?”

“Constantly.”

Val overhead this and was intrigued, teasing Vox, “Well, Voxxy, guess you’re not the only one the radio demon likes to get under someone’s skin.”

Angel snorted into his cup, muttering, “He’s done more than that.”

The two eyed the pornstar with Vox demanding, “What the hell does that mean?!” his hand clawing into the table.

Angel realizing his mistake, gulped, “Uh, nothing! It’s really nothing to worry about! Let’s start the next scene Val, I’m sure I can-“ he yelped, feeling his chain being pulled back to his soul’s owner.

“Not so fast, carino~ There’s something you’re not telling us, now tell us.” The moth demon lowly threatened to Angel’s face.

The spider hung his head, knowing he fucked up big time over this.

Sorry Smiles… he bemoaned in his head.

He faced Vox. Well might as well go out with a bang.

“You know how you always wanted to fuck him in more ways than one?”

Sparks were increasing around Vox as he grunted out, “Yeah…?

“Someone had already beat you to the punch.”

There was a beat of silence that filled the air before the TV demon began to glitch like crazy, screeching out, “WHAT?!” the lights in the studio flicking on and off.

Val was in absolute shock before grinning evilly, “Really now? So, when did it happen and with who?” he pulled at Angel’s chain, wanting to get all the juicy details.

“When he was alive, he said and it was a traveling salesman that sold rubber ducks.”

That made Vox glitch even more before he screamed in fury and left the studio in a rage, slamming the doors telekinetically as he went.

NEW ORLEANS, 1927

It had been a major bloodbath once Alastor and Lou had finished killing off an organized gang had been terrorizing one of the city’s poor neighborhoods in a so-called protection racket.

Alastor had been wanting to deal with these bastards for a while now as his mother’s friends lived in this neighborhood and it had upset her greatly that nothing could be done to stop this. The law had been bought and paid for by influential people in the city so justice could never be served.

He had just been one man and couldn’t take them on alone but now with Lou by his side they had a better chance to be rid of these beings.

Lou especially surprised him by the number of bodies he managed to kill.

They made quick work of dumping the evidence of manslaughter into bags and taking them straight to the bayou under the cover of night and to their extreme luck the clouds were covering the moon so they can remain unseen.

Of course, he didn’t see a certain someone was helping out with that. As their hand was glowing behind their back.

Since then, Alastor sent Lou on personal missions to kill people he deemed unworthy to live, in places he could not go due to his skin tone, and Lou did not put up a fuss once he heard just how scummy and cruel a lot of his targets were.

Lou has proven how useful he was for Alastor that it has gotten to a point that Alastor was starting to mourn at the fact that they couldn’t have this forever, that the month was almost done and Lou will be gone because of that.

Even while they were plotting out these killings, Lou would seek out his company, such as visiting the radio station while he was working and going to the club together afterwards.

They had gotten… closer to say the least.

A few kisses have been stolen in alleyways after a drunken night at the club or to celebrate another successful kill. To see Lou covered in someone’s blood was always a beautiful sight to see.

That settled it. Alastor knew what needed to be done, his accomplice deserved a reward after all.

PRESENT DAY

“ALASTOR! GET DOWN HERE AND FACE ME!” Vox screamed up to the hotel.

Alastor shadowed in from the ground as he sarcastically said, “Vox! What an unpleasant surprise this is!”

Vox menacingly moved toward him, “You little bitch, you totally lied to me about hating being touched!”

Al sighed in exasperation; he should have known that spider wouldn’t keep his mouth shut about that.

“Not a lie, as I don’t like being touched by people who don’t understand boundaries!” the deer demon sneered in disgust.

“And yet in the living world you let someone reach all the bases with you!”

“That’s because that was a man who understood me in a way you never could!” he started glowing green and his shadow tentacles were creeping out.

Vox summoned his own electric tentacles putting the two of them into an intense stand-off waiting for the other to make the first move.

Only someone else threw the first punch and Vox went flying down the hill with a crash!

Alastor was stupefied to see Lucifer in his full demonic form as he looked down to where Vox was and his voice was distorted.

DON’T YOU DARE LAY A HAND ON HIM YOU BASTARD!”

Chapter Text

NEW ORLEANS, 1927

Alastor and Lou were a deserted apartment shortly after being at the club. They snuck in through a window, as going to an inn was too much risky and Alastor couldn’t very well take Lou home with him without his mother seeing them.

Besides they’ve broken many laws together at this point, what’s one more?

Lou admittedly was shocked when Al whispered in his ear of what he wanted to do tonight but he’ll take it!

Finally! He can get pregnant and he and Lilith can have their long-awaited child!

A prick of guilt was nagging him at the back of his head for not being completely honest with Alastor and he should come clean about why he wanted to sleep with him. But… he was in too deep with this now and well… there’s a reason he had to suffer his eternal punishment as it’s been proven he’s not that good of a person.

After all, Alastor used him as a means to an end these past weeks so it’s only fair he does the same he reasoned to himself, as long as the man before him was ready and willing then there should be no further issues.

The two men eyed the other for a good moment across the room before moving to feel each other up, slowly taking turns on kissing their necks, faces, and lips.

Eventually, while still being in each other’s arms they moved to the bedroom, gently undressing the other until they were only in their underwear and dropped onto the bed sensually.

They did some more caresses and osculation before removing the last piece of their clothing, the bedsheets covering their most intimate parts.

Sitting up, they wrapped their legs around each other while grabbing their bare hips.

Alastor tenderly kissed Lou’s collarbone and neck, licking it with his tongue.

Luci moaned at the feeling and softly commented, “For someone who hasn’t done this before, you sure are good at it…”

Alastor moved back, “Truth be told, I had to ask Mimzy for advice and she found a queer man that helped instructed me in the basics.”

Lucifer smiled fondly at him, cupping his cheek and head, and moved him back into another slow and deep kiss.

PRESENT DAY

Lucifer was still snarling and glaring at the unconscious TV sinner that apparently had history with Alastor judging from the shouting match the two had just minutes ago. To hear though that sinner wasn’t respectful of Alastor’s boundaries lit a fire under him and he just had to do something to get him away from Al!

He turned back seeing a still stunned radio demon and in a blink of an eye, Lucifer actually embraced him!

Lucifer started speaking in rapid French, stunning the deer further, “Est-ce que tout va bien? Qui était cet homme? Comment le connaissez-vous? Que voulait-il faire?"

(Are you alright? Who was that guy? How do you know him? What was he trying to do?)

“Lucifer… Why are you talking like that…?” Alastor furrowed his brow in suspicion.

The small king moved back with a golden blush, realizing he overstep his bounds.

“Sorry-sorry! That was a misspeak on my part.”

“And you were hugging me just now…” his eyes turned into dials.

Lucifer bit his lip before deeply sighing and slowly moved back, there was no other way of explaining this was there?

And so, with bated breath, Lucifer told him everything about their past together.

NEW ORLEANS, 1927

Lou woke up first that early morning with Alastor still sleeping soundly right under the covers with him. Lucifer smiled softly at the sight before a crash of guilt washed over him. He got his wish. He got what he came for.

But… at what cost? Misleading a man that has been nothing but a gentleman to him despite his serial killer ways and of course getting close to him to the point he was low-key cheating on his wife?

He knows she gave her permission but it still didn’t take away from the fact he established a close relationship to Alastor this past month, a connection only they could share.

He should have looked for someone else after Alastor refused the first time then he wouldn’t be in this messy situation of his feelings getting the better of him.

He still loves Lilith he knows he does, even if she hasn’t been expressing the same as of late. Eons of being together doesn’t just go away in a single night.

But from what he felt last night… it comes pretty close. Too close.

That’s why he had to go now and forget all of this if he was ever able to move on with his life.

He let his glamor fall away and returned to his rightful form as King of Hell as he carefully leaned close to Alastor’s peaceful face and gently caressed his bangs away from his eyes before leaning in to kiss his forehead, uttering softly, “Thank you… for everything…”

He got up to dress with a snap of his fingers and then he conjured up a swamp rose, putting it on his pillow for Alastor to see when he woke up. And then he vanished from sight.

PRESENT DAY

Alastor was frozen in place. Hearing everything from the king just now was too much to bear but suddenly he realized now why Lou left the way that he did, leaving only behind a single swamp rose, his favorite flower.

Back then, Alastor took it as a sign that Lou had to leave and that there were no hard feelings between them, after all at the time their kind of relationship was forbidden out in public, so it was impossible to be together no matter what.

Besides, even if Lou had miraculously stayed with him and they had decided to keep their relationship hidden from the world as he had seen from so many queer partners over the years it wouldn’t have matter as Alastor would die exactly six years later by a hunter that mistaken him for a deer and was mauled by the hunting dogs shortly after.

Once he had arrived in Hell, he quickly learned the ropes and became the overlord he is now. He debated trying to find Lou as obviously with his kill count the rubber duck salesman would have ended up here too but without knowing for sure if he had passed on or not it would have been pointless as it would be quite ironic that while Alastor died young, Lou would have grown old and lived a full life.

But now… the truth was staring at him in the face. All this time… His Lou really was the fucking King of Hell he had been seeing this whole time.

But what really floored him was the reason why he was chosen to be the one the king wanted to bed with. It was so he and the queen could have a child… Which meant…

Alastor was on the verge of breaking down and held his head, “She… she’s mine…? She really is my…?”

Lucifer was on the verge of crying, wobbling, “Legally, mine and Lilith’s. But genetically yours and mine.”

A dead prolong silence filled the air.

Neither man made any sudden moves, not sure how to move forward now that this newfound revelation hung over them.

Till finally Alastor hissed out, “Were you ever going to tell her?

Lucifer shook his head, “There was never going to be a need to and I had put all that behind me until I suddenly realized who you were.”

Something clicked in Alastor’s brain as he uttered, “That day in your room…”

Luci nodded solemnly and sighed.

“I know you have every right to feel angry about this.”

Alastor glowed green again, his shadows almost rising up, “Oh we are far past that I can assure you.”

Lucifer gulped, “Fair enough.”

I am furious!” his antlers and body grew in size, nearly towering more of the little king than he had before.

“I was selfish, okay! Is that what you want me to say?! I told you Lily and I couldn’t have a child of our own due to complications from heaven’s degree! So, we needed a substitution to get past the problem. Lilith was correct to surmise that it couldn’t be someone directly from Hell to do this for us so we needed a human that would be none the wiser of what I was trying to accomplish. I acted more out of desperation then I should have and it’s not an excuse that I hid such a huge secret from you but at the time it was necessary.”

Another pause hung in the air before Alastor slowly shrunk down back to his normal height still scowling, clutching to the top of his staff.

He didn’t like it but the king made an excellent point, how was Charlie supposed to come into existence without her birthright being questioned? Even if he had known about the possibility about his child being conceived by Lucifer when he passed on, there was no chance he would have been allowed to see their daughter without the secret getting out.

Now that Alastor was really thinking about it, he truly got the last laugh here, didn’t he? After all he was the father that stepped up to the plate when the other father couldn’t in Charlie’s time of need when starting her project.

He twisted his neck and head to face Lucifer upside down with a maniacal grin.

Lucifer wiped his face with his arm and scowled back.

“I know that look far too well…”

Alastor chuckled evilly, moving his head up, “I just realized what delicious irony this is!” pointing his staff to the king’s chest, “I, the parent who had no idea she existed came to her and aided her while you who had created her, neglected her and ignored her dreams! Ah-ha!” his laugh track echoed him.

Lucifer gritted his teeth and clenched his fists together, “Yes. Fine… I deserve that.”

“Hm, but I suppose one cannot be too upset by how this happened if it means that it is my blood that is on the throne, making my current status that much more important to the royal family.”

Lucifer was slightly hurt by the notion that Alastor would use this to his advantage now but he can’t say he wasn’t surprised.

“So, what, you want payment, is that it?”

“Of course not!” the deer was affronted, which surprised Luci. “I merely want to be in a position of power that allows me to serve you and Charlie directly!”

“Like… what you’re doing now?” the angel tipped his head in confusion.

“That and to have a say in Hell’s affairs as an administer.”

Lucifer slowly responded, “That can be arranged…” not entirely sure of what the demon’s angle was here. Until his eyes widen in realization.

“Wait… you’re not even going to try to tell her about…?”

Alastor shook his head, “It’s far too dangerous to, now that I’m thinking more clearly, it’s imperative she never knows the truth about her origins and we certainly cannot have the kingdom knowing when it’s already in a vulnerable position from an absent king and queen. Leaving our dear princess to her own devices…”

Lucifer groaned and smacked his face, “You are forever going to hold this over my head now, aren’t you?”

Al chuckled evilly again and his neck snapped, “Oh indubitably…” and he started making his way back into the hotel.

Without thinking, Lucifer blurted out, “Thank you!”

Alastor stopped short and slightly turned his head back, “I’m doing it for her, not for you.”

“I know but I still want to thank you. Not just for now but for then too for giving me Charlie…”

Alastor’s ears pinned back. That was an interesting reaction.

“She’s probably the one good thing that came out of this mess.” the radio demon stated before going right inside.
