"Oh, hush." Madara bounces the boy in his arms a little, resettling Kagami more securely even as he ignores his brother's muttered curses. "You've always fought each other to a standstill before, I can't imagine why you thought that would change now."
"But it was the medaka!" Izuna protests angrily. "And I caught it! Surely that should have counted as a win!"
"Not when he caught one too," Madara presses a kiss to the wildly curling hair of the boy in his arms to hide his amusement, careful not to dislodge the bowl Kagami is cradling so carefully.
"And why were there even two medaka in the oke!" Izuna waves his arms around with frustration. "There should only be one! Mine!"
"That's up to the stall owner," Madara shrugs. "He can have two if he likes - he could have had twenty if he chose to."
"Twenty medaka!" Kagami's eyes go round at the thought, filled with wonder and anticipation. "That would be amazing!"
"I don't think our pond has space for twenty medaka." Madara presses Kagami's nose with a gloved fingertip. "But it certainly has space for two."
"And thank you for catching one for me, Izuna-sama!" It's hard to bow while being carried, but Kagami does his best. "And you'll be there when I release them with sensei, won't you?"
"Urgh." Izuna makes a terrible face, comically exagerated, and Kagami giggles at the sight. "I suppose I must, but only because my tiny clansman asked."
He stomps off, growling under his breath about the unfairness of life, and Madara winks at his conspirator, both of them sharing matching smirks. Yes... for as long as Kagami stays this cute, neither side will gain an advantage.
Madara won't let them.
