Title: Experiment 53H – Life-Energy Transference Purpose: Build upon failed Experiments 53A-G to retrieve accumulated life-energy currently housed in Dark Spear and transfer it into Blood Stone fragments for eventual permanent rehousing. This experiment will adapt the power differentials used in Experiment 53G to utilize 22% of Dark Spear’s capacity, based on the data on exceeded parameters (see page 102) and logical extrapolation of the energy curve prior to spike and previous detonation. Likewise, conductor power will be reduced to 40% of maximum capacity in an effort to prevent recurrence of grid overload. Given that previous experiments failed to permanently transfer any life-energy and Dark Spear absorbed the Blood Stone fragments, any Dark Spear-to-Blood Stone transference that results in a Blood Stone shard remaining intact with net positive energy gain will be deemed a success. Materials: - Isolation lab, well away from anyone other than myself - 1 kiloton C-4 explosives - Shockwave detonator - Dark Spear - Self, as bait - Five Blood Stone fragments, retrieved after the failed invasion of Lukedonia (ID #s 11-13, 17, 21) - 35 conductors, rated at 100 MVA each, with associated busbars - Remote sensing and detection equipment, configuration B-239 - RT data-processing system and supercomputer + back-up Procedure: 1. Relocate all materials to isolation lab and split materials into two locations: remote equipment and computers to Safe Zone 2 km away, all other materials to Blast Site. 2. Target remote equipment in direction of Blast Site and connect to computers to record remote data. 3. At Blast Site, connect Blood Stone fragments to busbars, leading up to conductors spaced evenly and in parallel around blast site. 4. Attach denotator to C-4. 5. Stand directly over C-4 with detonator in hand. 6. Summon Dark Spear, at 22% of capacity. 7. Detonate C-4. (cont.) |

(cont.) 8. When C-4 significantly weakens self, attempt to siphon off Dark Spear’s attack on self into conductor endpoints. 9. Try not to get devoured for as long as is physically practicable. Data: Blast force: 0.92 kilotons Conductor status post-blast: 29 intact, 4 damaged, 2 destroyed Total transference time: 2 minutes 18 seconds Blood Stone status:
Average Life-Energy δ of surviving Blood Stones: +1.90% Dark Spear’s current mood: Furious, nasty, and vindictive (more so than usual) Analysis: 1. 4 out of 5 Blood Stones survived the transferal process. 1 was destroyed when Dark Spear lashed out peevishly and overloaded 2 of that Blood Stone’s conductors and damaged 2 of the others. Dark Spear also damaged 2 conductors for Blood Stone Fragment #21. This was the first experiment where Dark Spear failed to devour any (or even all) of the Blood Stone fragments. 2. Of the surviving Blood Stones, all demonstrated a statistically significant increase in the charge of life-force energy. Further analysis of Dark Spear confirmed that some of the lives that Dark Spear had devoured were, in fact, missing and now appear to be permanently transferred to the Blood Stone fragments. 3. On average, the surviving Blood Stones had an increase δ of 1.90%. However, that average includes Blood Stone Fragment #21, which had 2 damaged conductors and also was the outlier for δ increase. If the outlier is removed from the data set, the remaining Blood Stones demonstrated an increase δ of 2.46%. Assuming the issues that led to the destruction of one fragment and the damage to the transference mechanism of the second fragment can be resolved, the δs indicate that it should take an average of 40.65 repetitions of the current experiment to fully charge the remaining Blood Stone fragments in this experiment. 4. Based on data collected on the Master during our initial years together at his mansion in Lukedonia and legends and rumors from various nobles recorded over time, the data (see Lab Book #483: Master’s Life Energy) indicate that it will require Blood Stones of approximately 235% the capacity of those used in this experiment to restore the Master’s full life force. That totals 9552.85 repetitions of the current experiment. (cont.) |

(cont.) 5. I believe I can hold out against Dark Spear for longer, with practice. And I am essentially immortal. I have all the time in the world. Conclusion: The current experiment was successful in transferring a small fraction of Dark Spear’s stolen life force into the Blood Stone fragments. Assuming current experimental conditions continue with no improvements or refinements, it will require 9553 repetitions of the experiment to fully restore my Master. The goal in not-negotiable. Master will be restored. However: 1. It is likely possible to reconfigure the conductors and Blood Stones such that they will be completely out of Dark Spear’s reach, and thus the efficiency can be improved upon. 2. Once I have resolved #1, I will likely be able to charge more Blood Stones with each iteration. 3. I will need to wait at least a week for Dark Spear to quiet down before the next attempt. She is a jealous lover, and I’ve tested her sorely today. 4. But I do sincerely hope that this will not require a full 9,553 weeks to complete the charging. However, 183 years is but a drop in the ocean next to what I waited for my Master last time. |
