Chapter 3: So Who's Rome?

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

"This here is the bathroom and to the left is Khun Thee's and your bedroom you just awoke from"

Phuwin walked into the large room he'd just been in not even an hour ago, just woken up, still equally confused as he was in that moment. He'd taken note of each room, their uses and come to the conclusion that- this place was worse than a labyrinth! Why did a person need 4 different studies depending on how much 'lighting it got'?!! It was utterly ridiculous what money could buy you, and according to Mok this was one of the dozens of places Thee owned. I mean why would you even buy one in every city?? This 'tour' was going to be longer than walking through a whole extended museum guide.

Taking his chance, Phuwin plopped down on the somehow already made bed and sank into the soft duvet with a sigh. It was meant to be his bed so it should be fine.

"Hey let's have a little break, I think my brains going to combust if we go on anymore"

"Very well Khun Peach, would you like some pain killers and an arranged masseuse for that?"

Mok had already began to order the arrangement through his earpiece transmission when-

"Oh no, no, I was only exaggerating that's too much"

"But it's my duty to look after you just as-"

"Mok, it's ok, really. You can ignore whatever Thee's over-possessive commands are for now"

Phuwin flopped down again shutting his eyes for a brief moment and enjoying a silence he hadn't known in a while. All of the fan meets, piled with filming and countless other things had given him no time to rest really. Spending his time with Pond was a comfort he'd gotten used to and without that he wasn't sure if he could endure all of it with any other person. His friends and family were always there too but that was different, this was work and his every day for the past 5 years since officially joining GMMTV. But Peach's life seemed different but all the same somehow. The key difference was his lack of publicity- well to media at least. Being a famous photographer was a different kind of tiring, and well he had his Thee. It was almost like Phuwin could physically feel the difference in their bodies and mind -which made sense after all. This wasn't Phuwin's body it was Peach's.

With that in mind he lifted his arm to search for a tattoo he'd been told that he would have to get for the role. It was a word if he remembered right, and much smaller than what Pond had to get done. His partner had seemed a little too excited to be hearing of the huge fake tattoo he would be getting on his chest.

I'm going to look way too cool for this role, no not a role- I will be Thee. Just watch the fans will go crazy.

Yeah, yeah don't go and get the design permanent later.

Focus. It was written neatly and slightly blurred on the side of his wrist, like a reminder for every day. It was simple but Phuwin could feel the weight of the ink and what it must have meant to Peach. He seemed more mature and reserved than Phuwin, different to his other roles, different to himself.

"Isn't it crazy Mok, his bathroom alone is almost larger than my whole house"

As soon as he'd said it Phuwin felt a sense of deja vu like he'd said or heard those exact words before. Was this one of Peach's memories?

"Khun Thee has always lead an extravagant life just as his parents raised him to have"

"Hah I can see that"

As curious eyes continued to inspect the tattoo, Phuwin took note of the restless look in the eyes of the bodyguard and the way his posture shifted ever so slightly- like he was battling an inner conflict that he was very clearly failing to hide.

"You can just ask you know"

"Sorry?"

"Mok you know what I mean."

Now fully sat up, he locked eyes with the bodyguard who was trying to distract himself by playing with his earpiece as though he had some important message coming in.

"Am I in this world too- the one you say you knew Khun Thee's version from."

Phuwin raised an eyebrow and a slight grin twitched at his lips.

"You really wanna know?"

The usual calm returned to the now more composed figure as he slowly nodded his head.

"Well you work under the same company as me, so naturally i knew you, and we were friends- I think you can guess what that means"

"I'm an actor too??"  Mok half exclaimed eyes widening slightly with disbelief.

"Yup, and a professional swimmer too, veeeery successful indeed."

There was a brief pause of uncertainty as though the next question would give way to something that should be left unknown.

"You called me Est earlier" he mumbled, "what's he like- personality wise"

Phuwin eyed the bodyguard with curious intent, an idea popping into mind. There was an endless list of differences between the two. Est simply put was outgoing and bold. People had been fooled by his performance in Thamepo, playing a reserved character whom was the more introverted type. He guessed Po was at least a much more similar character to Mok in that case.  But Est was completely different in reality, not really the type to be so rigid and collected, a fun type and most definitely not a stoic bodyguard. There was a reason his dynamic with Wiliam was so intently debated on amongst fans.

"Hmm I'd say Est is definitely outgoing- bold and playful but thats more reserved for people he's closer to, especiallyyy William. Though he's still very focused on his work and shy a times too i guess, again mainlyyy with William. "

"William?"

his plan was working out well

"Mok do you have a boyfriend in this world?"

The reassertion of seriousness completely betrayed the taken aback man as he stuttered on his words.

"Khun Peach how is this relevant?" he asked almost desperately.

"Well if you think about it, Pond whose my acting partner is my actual errr situation here with Thee, so naturally it should be the same for you too but instead whoever the equivalent of the bright- idol-actor William is should be your significant other,"

"I act with Rome-?!"

The normally tight lipped bodyguard trained to be neutral at all times, let the key name slip in a moment of exasperation, mixing up his thoughts and words out loud. He'd connected the dots when Phuwin had brought up acting, but not that kind of acting.

A faint blush tinged Mok's ears as he was met by Phuwin's teasing gaze. Yep, this was definitely the Est he knew.

"Ohooo so here he's called Rome. Well even if he's not William- this Rome has definitely got the same effect on you."

"Khun Peach?!"

Phuwin chuckled at the complete deterioration in demeanour that he'd witnessed. Maybe Mok was actually simliar to Est, just restrained by a completely different environment to be in. Being the right hand man of a mafia boss couldn't be easy on anyone, especially when that boss was Thee.

Suddenly, the moment was disrupted by a phone ringing on the bedside table next to Phuwin. The name Aran flashed on the screen and seen as the phone immediately unlocked when Phuwin picked it up, he was guessing it was his. He'd almost forgotten, Peach had a whole life outside of just Thee and that was all uncharted territory for Phuwin, new people but following the trend- same old faces. Obviously revealing that he wasn't actually Peach to everyone wasn't a good idea, Thee and Mok were an exception or rather he had to tell them (for his own safety).

It would just be like acting another one of his roles, not too hard right?

Hitting the answer button Phuwin mouthed to Mok, "could you give me a minute

The bodyguard bowed slightly in acknowledgment, still slightly flushed from their conversation. He hadn't meant to ask about 'Est', it wasn't his place to and he knew it was wrong to deliberately do so once Thee left. But the idea was too appealing, almost dangerously so. Est was living a normal life out there (as normal as a public figure's lives could get) but he wasn't constrained to being a bodyguard. 'Playful'- the word had stuck in Mok's mind. Nobody had every described him as 'playful', the most he'd gotten was quiet, reserved, hard working. Except for when he was with Rome. Rome had always told him that, and it seemed unfortunately word of this had gotten to Thee- explaining the smug look on his boss' face every time the young man was brought up around Mok. He couldn't relate to Est but he could imagine the similarities with this William. 'Bright' thats what Peach had started with. How could someone retain such a similar quality when the circumstance was such a big gap? Being and idol and actor at that, was that the kind of person Est liked? He fairly matched his description. Not like himself, not cold and distant, not kept to himself. Mok didn't have a problem with that of course, it was his choice to devote himself to Thee, grow up with him and be by his side. What he'd heard was just different. Another possibility.

As if on cue, a buzz sounded at the bodyguards pocket, a reminder lighting up the screen-

'Rome's bday coming up: prepare for his visit'
