“There it is Peri,” Iris said, standing before a large ship. “That’ll be your new body soon. Are you excited?” She smiled at the drone hovering next to her.
“Indeed. It is symmetrical.” Peri replied blandly. Iris laughed loudly.
“I thought you’d like that. You did get really into fractals at one point.” She started walking around the docking platform, taking in as much of the ship as she could. Peri following along behind her. “I can’t wait until I’m old enough to join you on missions. Won’t that be fun!”
“I suppose it will be partially enjoyable.” Peri responded bitterly. Iris looked at the drone currently housing her sibling.
“What’s wrong?” Iris asked. She always knew when there was something amiss. Peri bobbled the drone a little while it thought, but eventually answered her question.
“I will not be able to follow you anymore.” Peri replied. “How will I keep you safe and out of trouble?”
“Aww Peri, I’ll miss you too!” Iris slung her arm over the drone at her side. “Besides, have you seen the ‘debris deflection system’?” She pointed to the front of the ship. “Once we’re together, I’ll be safer than ever before.” A few of the lights on Peri’s drone body lit up in ways that Iris knew meant it was feeling something, but Peri couldn’t explain it in a way she understood. Maybe one day she’d know more.
“Besides, you’re the one that always gets us in trouble!”
