In Which Alexandr Kallus Starts to Act Like a Rebel

Summary:

Kallus, at the mercy of Thrawn during the attack on Atollon, starts to act less like an imperial and more like a rebel…

Work Text:

“…and none of the would have been possible without the help of your Agent Fulcrum,” Thrawn said dramatically, gesturing for the death trooper to bring Kallus into view of Rebel command.

Kallus was forced to his knees for the rebels to see, and Thrawn grabbed hold of his jaw, forcing him to look at the commanders.

“Anything to say for yourself, Fulcrum?” Thrawn teased, “About how you- AHHHGG!”

Kallus, in his anger at Thrawn’s attempt to humiliate him, had wrenched his jaw away, and bit Thrawn’s hand as hard as he could. He heard a loud crack, and one of the rebels (who he suspected was Ezra Bridger) gave a cheer.

Thrawn pulled his hand away, but not before Kallus had drawn blood. He spat the admiral’s blood out disgustedly, and instantly felt another punch to the face from Thrawn.

Seemingly more determined, Thrawn grabbed hold of his jaw again, this time with enough force to hold his mouth firmly shut.

“You really do fight like a rebel, Agent Fulcrum. Desperately, angrily, and foolishly.”

Thrawn pushed Kallus to the ground and turned back to the transmission, “Now, let us proceed.”

Kallus stood in the back of The Ghost uncomfortably. He pushed himself into his little corner, trying to make himself invisible.

The thank you Kanan had given him was already more friendliness than he’d expected from the rebels. So, when Ezra came through The Ghost, he hoped he’d be ignored.

“Agent Kallus!” Ezra greeted, crushing his hopes.

“It’s not Agent anymore.”

“Right, sorry, Ex-Agent Kallus.”

Kallus gave the boy an unimpressed look. Ezra, in turn, beamed back at him.

“Are you alright?” Kallus asked the boy.

“You bit Thrawn!” Ezra exclaimed, “You bit him! Like a wild lothcat!”

Kallus felt his face flush with embarrassment, “Ah… yes.”

“I’ve never had more respect for you,” Ezra told him very seriously, “That’s the best thing you’ve ever done with your life.”

Kallus gave him a confused look, before Zeb, seemingly appearing out of no-where (apparently he’d mastered the invisibility Kallus had been yearning for) asked, “What’d Kallus do?”

Ezra grinned from ear to ear, “I have a recording.”

“Please don’t,” Kallus begged as Ezra pulled out a holo and turned it on.

The holo sputtered to life, and Kallus saw himself and Thrawn on the Star Destroyer.

“Anything to say for yourself, Fulcrum? About how you - AHHHGG!”

Zeb burst out laughing, attracting the attention of numerous rebels. Ezra replayed the scene, this time with even more people watching. Embarrassing as it was, it certainly seemed to lift people’s spirits.

Zeb threw an arm around him and yelled, “I think we should all be congratulating Kallus here, for doing what so many have wanted to do for so long: BITING Grand Admiral Thrawn!”

There was a large round of applause in response, and Zeb muttered, “I hope you broke his hand.”

Kallus couldn’t help but smile when he replied, “I definitely did.”

Notes:

I haven’t stopped thinking about the idea of this all day, so I finally sat down and wrote it!

Also, feel free to steal this idea and write (or draw!) your own take on it, so long as you tell me so I can read it, because I crave more of this.
