Chapter Text
The first few notes of Crimson play, the soft, nostalgic intro. Satomi’s pretty sure he hadn’t heard it since that day at the snack bar. Of course it’d be the very first song Kyouji chooses to sing for their reunion.
“Do you have to do it right in my ear?”
Kyouji smiles at him as he sings through the English lyrics, seated close enough to him on the couch that their knees touch.
“I started running into the night, to find the truth in me…”
Satomi tenses, expecting his usual ad-libbed battle cry to come at any second. Instead, Kyouji laughs, unexpectedly reaching over to ruffle his hair. It’s good to know he’s still really, really irritating.
Satomi shoves Kyouji’s shoulder, more a warning of his dissatisfaction than any serious attempt to push him off. In response, Kyouji only pulls him in closer, the hand moving to Satomi’s back, and his heart is suddenly beating fast, faster. They’ve never been quite this close.
He’s not sure if it’s him or Kyouji who finally bridges the gap. Their lips touch, briefly —
And then Kyouji turns back to the screen, though he certainly doesn’t need the lyrics by now, a little catch in his voice the only tell as he breaks into the next line.
