Chapter Text
It had started with an mechanical bull.
Of course Buck had to have a go. The disco style cowboy hat seemed to have captured the lights of the bar as Buck glanced over at the Bull.
By now, Eddie had downed his beer and was going for another when he saw the look in Buck's eyes. Sparkling blue that captured the glowing lights above them as he made a small gasp.
"Eddie.....they have a bull!" He exclaimed in excitement. Blue had returned with some shots and heard his excited shout.
"What does a city boy know anything about bull riding?" He teased as Ryan brought the food over and joined in on the teasing.
"Think you can handle it, city boy?" He asked, eyes filled with mischief.
This time, it was Eddie who gave the brothers a smirk as he patted Buck on the back. "Oh, you don't know Buck. He used to work in a ranch in Montana, he's used to bucking," he said as Buck flashed them a matching smirk.
He then picked up a shot glass and tipped it back, slamming it down on the counter before getting up.
"Watch how it's done, alphas! Y'all about to be put in your place!" He called over his shoulder as he made his way over to the operator.
Blue just shook his head as he took a sip of his beer, watching as the omega climbed onto the bull. He then turned to Eddie, who wore a completely blank expression.
He nudged Ryan, causing the smaller alpha to almost drop his beer. "Think this might be the kicker to get them fucking?" He whispered as Ryan took in the heated expression that was growing on Eddie's face.
"Think you might be onto something. Maybe if he sees how good Buck can ride a bull, he might want Buck to try ride him," he whispered back, causing Blue to almost snort his beer out as he laughed.
And Ryan's prediction ran true. As Buck climbed onto the bull, he was meet with leers and calls from the crowd.
What would a firefighter from L.A know about bullriding.
However, they didn't know Buck like Eddie did. They didn't see the way Buck's eyes hardened as he held onto the handle, the way he adjusted his body. The way his hand held loose.
Like muscle memory was setting back in.
His body became locked in, and Eddie knew that, like always, Buck was going to blow them away. It made him proud.
And horny.
Soon, the bull came to life and Buck's body placed him back on bucking horses and bull riding. In his mind, he was in a training area, the sweer Montana air blowing around him as he held onto the saddle.
Not giving up.
Winning the round everytime.
He didn't see the affect it was having a Eddie.
The way he could see the muscles underneath his jeans become taunt as they strained against the bull.
The way his shirt became slightly unbuttoned, exposing the crease of his chest. The way his eyes glinted with determination and fire. The smirk that was growing on his face.
Buck was always beautiful to Eddie, but seeing him like that, wild, untamed, it made Eddie realise something.
He was in love with his best friend.
It took him eight years to realise. Of failed relationships, getting shot, watching Buck die for 3 minutes, moving to Texas and racing back when he had gotten the call from Bobby to say that Buck had died again, longer this time.
8 years of pining.
8 years of longing.
8 years of watching Buck getting his heart broken again and again.
Now, Eddie wasn't going to hold back.
Fuck the Catholic guilt.
Fuck his parents.
This time, he was choosing Buck. He was choosing his happiness.
He was so lost in his turmoil that he didn't hear the loud cheering as the bull stopped and Buck jumped off, waving his arms around as he laughed with joy.
"Damn, your boy really knows how to ride a bull. He proved us wrong," Blue commented, breaking Eddie out of his thoughts.
He took a deep breath and nodded. "Yeah......yeah he did," he said before putting his beer down and marching over to Buck.
The omega was being surrounded by his new fans, when he saw Eddie walking over. He flashed him a smile.
"How did I-?"
Suddenly, lips was crashing against his, causing Buck to almost fall over from the aggressive kiss Eddie was giving him.
However, he got over his shock, Buck was quick to return the kiss, wrapping his arms around his neck as Eddie wrapped his arms around his waist.
In the background, Ryan gave a low whistle. "And that, brother, is what happens when you finally release all those emotions," he said as Blue averted his eyes as a way to give them privacy.
"Yep, now I'm going to leave before they start having sex on the bar bench," he commented as they walked off.
Buck soon broke away as he gasped for air, staring at Eddie in shock and awe before a shy smile appeared on his face.
"Hi' he whispered as Eddie stared at him before smiling softly. "Hey. Guess who finally got his head out his ass," he whispered, causing Buck to snort softly as he stroked his cheek.
"Let's go somewhere quiet to talk, alright babe," he said softly as he guided the alpha outside. He held his hand as they walked to his jeep before turning around.
Eddie watched as his blue eyes were filled with slight anxiety, holding onto Eddie's hands as the cool Nashville air brushed against them.
The sun had set, painting the sky dark pinks and gold as he sighed softly.
"Eddie.....this isn't just going to be a fling, right? I.....I don't want it to be a fling. I've been wanting this for years, Eddie. I....I've watched you from the sidelines battling through this silent battle. I don't want to be like the others. I want this more than anything. I want us to grow old together. I don't want to be your awakening and nothing more. I want us to be more," Buck expressed as he stared into his eyes, lips trembling slightly.
Eddie's eyes softened as he cupped his cheek, moving closer to Buck as he held him close. He bathed in his scent, in his closeness, his weight in his arms.
How many years has he missed out on this. Of holding him in his arms, of showering him with love. How many years has he been so stupid.
All it took was losing him twice to finally give him the courage to acknowledge his feelings.
And he was going to make up for it.
"Buck.....I've been an idiot for 8 years. That's years of not being with you as a partner. A romantic partner. Of having children with you, of marrying you. Of growing old with you. So please, let me make up for it. I love you, Evan Buckley. I fucking love you, and I'm sorry for being an idiot. So be prepared, Cariño, because I have 8 years to make up for it," he declared as he stared into his eyes, holding him in his arms.
Buck was quiet, soaking the words in like a sponge desperate for water. He then let out a small, wet laugh as he kissed him softly.
"Then you better make up for it right now," he purred slightly as he kissed along his neck, causing Eddie to groan as he tilted his neck back.
He then backed Buck against the car door, fumpling with the keys before the back door opened and they stumped in.
He didn't plan on their first time being inside a car.
He wanted it to be romantic.
But with Buck underneath him, whimpering and whining pleasure as he guided Eddie into his body, it became Eddie's favourite memory.
Holding his body in his arms. Rocking into him as he bathed in his cries and moan in pleasure. Kissing along his skin as he made sure that Buck felt good and loved.
Afterwards, he had used some tissues to clean Buck up, stealing kisses in between while the omega giggled loudly.
"Jeez, who would have thought that Eddie Diaz was such a sap," he joked as Eddie stole one last kiss. "Only for you, amor. Now, I don't know about you, but I could reallt do with a shower," he said as Buck sighed heavily.
"That sounds good to me," he commented as they got into the front of the car. Buck turned Eddie's head and kissed him softly.
"One more for the road," he said. Eddie had to fight every urge to kiss Buck and make love to him again as he pulled out of the park and headed down the road towards their motel.
They weren't aware of the truck tailing after them, until their headlights were shining in.
The last thing Eddie heard was Buck's startled shout, the feeling of their car being pushed off, a scream, a crash, and then.
Darkness
*****************
The florescent lights was not helping with Eddie's headache. When he came too, he had found himself in a hospital bed.
He grunted slightly as he adjusted to the lights blinking a couple of times as he gathered his bearings.
He suddenly jolted when he took his surroundings.
White walls.
The smell of disinfectant.
The heart monitor gently beeping in the background.
Where was the road?
Where was the car?
Where was Buck?
It was only then that he realised that he wasn't alone. That there was a group of people waiting for him to wake up.
He slowly turned his head, wincing slightly as he turned to the right.
On one side, wearing a stricken expression, was Bobby.
Next to him was Don Hart and his sons, both wearing troubled expressions.
Why was Bobby here?
He then slowly turned his head to the left, holding back a groan of pain. It was clear he got really bad whiplash from the crash.
On the left, was three individuals.
One was a doctor.
The other two looked like detectives. The female gave Eddie a somber look.
"Eddie Diaz, my name is Chief Olivia Benson. This is my partner, Sargent Fin Tutuola. Can you remember what happened before the crash?" She asked in a calm, soft voice.
Eddie winced as he tried to remember.
He and Buck were driving back to the motel.
He had been looking at Buck, thinking about the way the omega moved with the bull.
Of their car tango and how he had finally confessed his feelings. When there was a yell, lights and then darkness.
He then realised something; he couldn't smell Buck.
"Where's Buck?! Cap, he was in the car with me. Is he alright?" He asked, ignoring the shooting pain that went up his neck as he turned to the older alpha.
Bobby's face broke more as Don placed a comforting hand on his shoulder.
Hes dead.
Eddie finally sorted his shit out, and Buck is dead.
Olivia placed a comforting hand on Eddie's shoulder.
"I'm sorry. Evan Buckley is still alive. At least that's what we believe. But.....I'm so sorry. He's been taken."
