God, Eddie was glad he wasn't here. He was glad that if anyone had to be on this plane that it was him and not Buck, or Bobby, or Chim, or Hen. But especially not Buck. Buck, who in less than 24 hours was going to have to explain to Christopher what had happened. Who in less than an hour was going to be his son’s legal guardian and he wouldn't even know it. Buck, who was expecting a call soon.

When Eddie's plane goes down, he leaves Buck a voicemail telling him how he feels, after all, he was about to die. Only he didn't die. And when he returns, Buck doesn't say anything about the voicemail and Eddie assumes that mean Buck just isn't interested.

As it turns out, Chris had been waiting for his dad to confirm they could stay in LA.
“This is home,” he’d stated simply. And that had been that.
However, that left the Diaz boys with one tiny problem - their former house was currently occupied. Luckily for them, said occupant loved their company and welcomed them back home with open arms. There wasn’t much by way of discussion - Eddie had told Buck that he and Christopher were staying in LA, Buck showed Christopher that his room was ready and waiting for him, and they celebrated with an evening of pizza and video games.
For a while, things were easy. Simple. Eddie was back at the 118, all of their belongings had been shipped over from El Paso, and the three of them developed a rhythm that made living together seamless.
At some point along the way, though, something shifted.

Or what I would have liked to see this season end but instead get I get emotional damage cause Bobby is dead.

“Yeah,” Eddie agrees immediately. He slides off the bed, turns off the lamp he must have turned on when he came in, and walks around to the other side. He lies on his back in the bed, close enough to the center for Buck to wordlessly move himself into Eddie’s side. Eddie lifts an arm to allow Buck to come closer. “Of course,” He says as he drops his arm to wrap around Buck’s shoulders, effectively making him rest his head on Eddie’s chest, “Always.”
Or, despite everyone escaping the lab alive, Buck can't stop reliving the worst case scenarios when he closes his eyes.

Eddie laughs, feels wetness at the corners of his eyes. He wishes he was. He wishes he had been, at any point in his life. But the pieces of his ‘self’ are bigger, aren’t so split amongst things like hobbies. They’re broken up into the bigger pieces, the ones with the sharp edges.
“I can’t cook and I never had time to read.” Eddie scoffs, feeling his lips pull, “But I like telenovelas,”
Frank smiles and it feels genuine. In the way that sadness creeps into the edges of it.
Or the 5v1 fic that started as something small and became something so much bigger.

Evan “Buck” Buckley just went platinum for the third time, he’s topping the charts again and again, his diaristic and diverse album collections only growing in popularity and sales. What he blames on personal shortcomings, his fame truly skyrocketed after his worst moments were posted for all the world to see during the Tour Bus Bombing, but having his name and picture plastered on every news station and magazine for four months really made it hard not to know at least his top three songs. Now, a new tour is starting and Eddie Diaz, bodyguard and former army medic, comes into the picture.
Buck may come off as a suave singer who had it all and is battling through recovery, but he’s been fighting to keep his head above water since his teens. “Okay, that’s good,” Evan says, reaching across the table for Tommy’s hand as though it’s the most natural thing in the world. “So, I know you’re not ready to move in together, but what are you ready for?”
Tommy pauses, considers. “Maybe talking about our exes,” he says at last.
Evan winces. “Yeah, that’s a good start,” he says. “Can’t believe we got six months in and never had that conversation.”
“Well, we got distracted,” Tommy says, sweeping his eyes over Evan’s chest and arms in an intentionally suggestive manner.
“Tommy,” Evan gives him a warning look that falls apart because Evan can’t help but smile. “Just promise me that you won’t go into this thinking it can’t last or I’m not serious about you or that I’m in love with my best friend.”
Tommy winces. God, how was he so stupid? He pulls his hand out of Evan’s and offers his own pinkie. “I promise,” he says. And he means it. He’s going to do everything in his power to set aside his jealousy and his insecurity and put his all into trusting Evan.
Evan grins. “Good,” he says.
