Chapter Text
The gala was too loud for Jimin.
Crystal glasses clinking. Laughter spilling easily in between conversations. People scanning art, or just checking price tags before deciding their interest.
Jimin stood near the edge of a marble column, just beside the painting of Gilded Lotus. Fingers lightly clasped behind his back.
Hobi was also standing there with him, but in more relaxed posture. Both of them looking at the crowd, exchanging glances in between them and laughing about something.
“How much was this one again?”
Someone asked approaching and pulling them out of their conversation. A man in his late 50's. Wealth reflecting in his gold framed monocle. Accompanied by a young beautiful girl, who was very much disinterested.
“Something in 7 figures, I believe. Sir.” Jimin replied.
“Ehh..not expensive enough.” The man said in a tone, and walked away while sipping on the glass champaign he was holding.
Jimin’s jaw tightened.
“Relax, you’re glaring again.”
Hoseok’s voice nudged, reminding him. Jimin instantly brought his polite smile back.
“I’m not glaring,” Jimin muttered with an angry pout. As he softened slightly.
“You are. Jimin-ah, at least pretend that you like rich people. Just for tonight.”
“I like people." Jimin defended.
“Just not when they treat art like a trophy.”
Hoseok snorted out a laugh, bringin his drink to his lips.
"Wrong room for that philosophy Jimin-ah"
Jimin didn’t say anything for that, because he knew Hoseok was right. Being collectors of art, for rich people was just for the sake of praises and being envied by others.
"Just half an hour to go." Jimin reminded himself.
Quietly.
