This is a collection of fics where Harry goes "off the rails" in all sorts of ways, branching off into his own path at any point in canon, or before and after. Here Harry's house affiliation and the like do not matter. Neither do ratings, word and/or chapter count, pairing, or such. No crossover fics unless the fics take place in that AU with solely HP characters.

He trained to become a teacher, and had been rebuilding himself painstakingly while working for a living. He had drilled 5 years of self defence into students so far, and he was damned if he was going to stop now.
Even though Draco Malfoy found him.
AKA the triwizard tournament, but muggle and probably less lethal.

Summary
Sick of the Dursleys and resolved to missing his few friends if it means getting away from the people of the Wizarding World and their nosy whispers, Harry gets the idea to leave it all behind for a while, just a bit, just for a rest. Like a camping trip, except he’ll take enough provisions for a year or so...maybe some plants, seeds and things for a little garden. Maybe some time away from the things that weigh him down will help the constant highs and lows he’s been feeling for a while now. Just a little break.
(Or, the one where Harry says TTFN and takes himself off on an indefinite vacation and upsets a few very careful plans.)

Summary
Hermione moves to Godric's Hollow when her mother and father obtain new posts, in the hopes that a move would give their daughter a new start.
Hermione anticipated this move. It rather comes with having promotions of the future and insights into past lives. And yet, she never anticipated that the green eyed boy she encounters in her visions might actually be alive in this incarnation.
When it turns out that he is, and that he remembers her, it becomes clear the stuff of dreams is more complicated than even she had anticipated.

Summary
Dumbledore doesn't make it in time for Harry's trial, and the outcome is very different. Harry is expelled, his wand snapped.
But he refuses to give up. And he is done waiting around for Albus Dumbledore to give him information.
Deciding to take his life into his own hands, Harry asks for training from several Order members, preparing himself to fight Voldemort while the whole wizarding world believes he's helpless and back in the muggle world.
Meanwhile, his friends are at Hogwarts, tackling their own problems in the form of Dolores Umbridge. Harry hadn't expected the separation to be so difficult - or for a certain mischievous redhead to make the waiting game they'd entered into so very excruciating.
He might have lost his home in Hogwarts, but with Sirius and Remus around, Harry begins to learn that rebuilding a family isn't as hard as he'd anticipated.
