Have you ever watched someone and/or something you love decay in real time, just to wearily worship the alter of the decomposition spread of their sacred bones in attempt to see if some new form of life will be born from the ashes?
They have. In fact, they bent time and space and eternity doing exactly that.
Fact: Ghosts are a part of grief. They haunt and linger even your grasping attempts to cling to the present, the past projected ever onward on every refracting fragment of memory and mind that gives us some form, some solution to the complex theory of self.
Theory: What are any of us, really, in the wake of the end of everything? We can never really know. That answer comes only through enduring it.
Jayce's best answer? Each of us sorry, mad souls can only hope to hold on long enough that we figure it the fuck out.

Summary
There was a mirror in Jayce’s quarters that seemingly appeared on its own,and had certainly never been there before. It was tall, ancient, and showed strange things at night that felt like premonitions from a future that had yet to happen.
In the glass was a version of him all flushed and gasping, bent beneath a creature that wore Viktor's face but none of his humanity. When he woke, the world was all wrong and the Viktor he saw was now very real and just behind him.
"Finally," He said as claws slid down Jayce’s thighs. "You’re where you belong."
