Summary
John would hardly call himself an optimist, maybe a realist at best, but it was moments like these that really humbled him with the reminder of why such seemingly blissful ignorance could exist in the first place - it could exist because of him. Because of everything the Thunderbolts did that day, and would hopefully continue to do under whatever bullshit name they changed to in the future. This was all he really wanted to do, not just now, but in every single aspect of his life, with every moment he's ever had on this god forsaken planet - he wanted to protect the good in the world.
And for the first time since that day he went dark in those shame rooms, he realized that he'd actually succeeded, for once.
When someone finally takes a chance to treat John Walker like a normal human being in what feels like a lifetime, something can't help but start to bloom between the cracks of this super soldier's broken heart.

Harry Potter was tired. After surviving the graveyard and going back to the Dursleys, it seems all his friends and godfather can say to him is "We'll talk when we meet, I can't say anything". He genuinely doesn't know if he can last another month like this. And if he doesn't get news, he'll find some for himself. So he decided to leave, just for a month. The only thing he wants is to breathe. Maybe for the last time.
Of course, nothing was ever easy for Harry - it really shouldn’t surprise him that he turns out to be a wanted criminal, acquires unholy ancient magic and becomes the third side of the war himself, not to mention the pretty blonde whom he picks up while he's on the run.
