Summary
The child comes to her in early March, shortly after Richard leaves on his extended business trip to New York.
Ariadne's not expecting anyone, so when the doorbell rings and she goes to answer it, she's surprised to find a young child standing on her doorstep, shivering in the cold.
Its head is shaved and its feet are bare, and it’s wearing what looks like a thin hospital gown and little else; it must have come through the forest and circled back around the house, she thinks, because it’s wet and muddy and there are leaves stuck to the bottom of its gown.
“Oh—” she says and the child, who can’t be more than seven or maybe eight years old, looks up at her as blood starts to drip from its nose.
In which Steve makes himself a home.

Summary
“Double-oh-seven? Who the fuck agreed to put a James Bond reference on you at like, ten years old?”
“I’m thirteen,” the kid says with a definite petulance to it, the most personality Eddie’s gotten out of him yet. “I just - I don’t want it anymore.”

Summary
It starts like this: Steve, waiting in his car to pick up Dustin and friends from a session of their Chutes and Ladders club or whatever. Waiting kind of impatiently, to be honest, even though it’s not like he has anywhere else to be because Robin’s busy tonight and, as he well knows by this point, saving the world doesn’t get you a girlfriend or glory or even a second age-appropriate friend, it just gets you another evening shift at Family Video and a long personal to-do list.
In the spring and summer of 1986, Steve Harrington contends with the biases of the day, hatches several plans, and finally really gets to know Eddie Munson.

“That’s so gross,” Steve said. But his cheeks were the funniest shade of red. Maybe it was just the heat of the shower. “You’re gross.”

“I do. I’m gonna be a kitty,” Eddie said, a smirk to his words as Steve’s brain went completely blank. “What are you gonna be?”
Nothing. Steve hadn’t planned anything. Nothing at all.

Summary
Robin was going to die. She was going to die here, in the middle of the Starcourt Mall, because she couldn’t leave well enough alone. All she wanted was a not terrible summer job to start putting some money aside for college, and instead she was going to die with Steve The Hair Harrington.
At least she got to come out to someone before she died, even if he was the straightest man in Hawkins. Because Steve was straight, right?
Right?

Summary
The thing was, these popular types, the Royalty of High School Society? They just wanted to be entertained. They wanted something to break though the dull monotony of life at the top of the food chain, and if nothing happened to catch their interest, they made their own fun.
Good thing Eddie was unparalleled at keeping little sheeps entertained.Series

“How much longer now?” Steve asks, already knowing the answer.
“Two and a bit years,” Eddie sighs. “Past halfway, at least.”
Even Steve can tell he’s trying to convince himself it’s a good thing, but neither of them feel any happiness about it.

Summary
“So I figured, well, I’ll be gone all month, and I thought it might be nice for you to have something to look forward to each day. So, I’m doing an advent calendar for you.”
Steve huffed a laugh. “Babe, they sell advent calendars in, like, Sears. The kinds with little candies and stuff.”
“Yeah, I know. I asked around. But I wanted to do something personal, you know? Plus this is way more fun for me. A whole month of buying gifts for you!”
Eddie is in Japan for December, being a badass rockstar, while Steve is back home in Chicago. Eddie decides that Steve deserves an advent calendar, but he's a non-conformist at heart. He decides to do an advent calendar his way.

“You—are you telling me you—” Eddie couldn’t even get the question out. “You—you—guys? You like guys?”
Harrington snorted. “Yeah, man. I like guys. And girls.”
Eddie could only sputter in the face of that. “But—but you’re King Steve!” he cried.
Harrington just shrugged, gave a casual little I know, but what are you gonna do? smile, before he turned back to watching the band.
Like this was anything to be casual about. Like Eddie wasn’t rapidly rewriting several years’ worth of high school in his mind’s eye. Yeah, sure, Steve Harrington sucks cock. It’s just a fact of life. What are you gonna do, am I right?
Jesus H. Christ.

Summary
“Are you going to leave?” Steve’s back is to him, so Eddie can see the way he tenses up, muscles beneath his plain black shirt bunching up.
It’s not: are you leaving before I pick up Max?
He could be difficult, if he wanted. He could ask Steve to clarify, he could ask Steve if he’s ever planning to leave. He could stand up and just do it, putting them both out of their misery. One day they might be better off for it, even if the hurt is too much to stand right now. Even if it feels impossible.
“Not right now,” Eddie says, which sounds a lot like not without you.
“Okay,” Steve says, which sounds a lot like thank you.
98% of the population disappears. Hawkins becomes a ghost town.
Or: three years after, Steve, Eddie and Max try to carve out a life together.
