“Heh… you aren’t nearly as scary as everyone makes you out to be.”
“Mrrrrp” the creature replied, still head butting his hand.

Summary
Jason ran into something black, more giving then a wall but not by much. He fell back, landing hard on the concrete, the cold and damp immediately starting to sink into his bones.
A horrible black demon was standing above him, the thing seeming to fill his whole vision, edges stretching and distorting into infinity.
It made a horrible distorted noise and reached toward him, as he scrambled back frantically on his hands and knees.

Summary
This takes place in the same universe as "Superman's Pal, the Shadow Demon"!
The shadows of Gotham had come alive.
The creature was massive, taller than a man, writhed in shadows, that seemed to move with an unnatural breath.
It was made of shades of black, the darkest forming its head, hands and feet, and pooling around it, resembling a cape or wings, like those of a bat.
Tall horns extended from it’s head, reminiscent of the ears of a bat, long claws tipped it’s hands.
The only part that looked human at first glance was the lower half of it’s face, which was the grey of a corpse, traceries of black veins visible beneath the skin.
It’s eyes glowed white, almost seeming to suck him into them.

Gordan swallowed, trying to clear his throat, not to scream, a scream would be useless in Gotham, but to ask a question.
The creature reached out cautiously toward him with the back of a hand, the way a human would approach an unfamiliar cat

Summary
The girl and magic staff were nowhere to be seen, instead a fine layer of blue, shimmering dust covered the ground. In the center, where Red Hood and Nightwing should have been, was what looked like a pile of yellow and black fabric until it started shifting and moving, revealing itself to be two human forms.
Tim stopped dead in his tracks, nearly slipping in the dust, causing Robin — who was apparently right behind him — to crash into his back.
Robin mumbled a few curse words directed at him, but stopped short when he saw what was in front of them.
It was two young boys, both with messy black hair, both covered in a fine layer of glittering blue dust, and both wearing the old Robin costume. It was Dick's design, the brighter one, closer in color to what the Flying Graysons had worn, and with a startling lack of pants. But it was the one that Jason had worn too.

Or, Dick and Jason get de-aged by some magic, assumptions are made, and those assumptions are very, very wrong.

Summary
Jason might not be the cutest one out there - he was smelly, dirty, dishevelled, clothed in what was essentially rags, somewhat boney and he knew he was sporting a bruised eye - but he could still play the poor, pathetic homeless kid in need of some generosity. If he played this right, maybe - although that was a big fucking maybe - Wayne would let him walk.
So Jason lowered his head, let the fight drown out of his shoulders by force and tried his best to look disheartened. The last part was the easiest, it was close enough to the bone deep exhaustion he was actually feeling.
"I'm… I'm sorry," he sniffled, "I know I shouldn't've. I just… I was hungry, so…" A glance up showed that it was working, Wayne's eyes had softened and his mouth was drawn in pity. It made Jason's skin crawl to be pitied and he honestly wanted to yell at Wayne that he didn't want that pity, that pity wouldn't help him eat or stay warm. Instead, he took a shaking breath and tried his luck: "I promise I won't do it again."
Or: The one where Jason's plan to manipulate Bruce works a little too well.
