I’ve got used to Wednesday hiding stuff from me, it’s part of who she is. Always trying to protect people and save them without even considering her own safety.This time, it’s different. There’s nothing to protect me from, I know it. Yet there’s still something she’s hiding from me and I hate it. We’re supposed to be best friends, but she’s acting like I’m nothing to her, like I’m not important to her! It hurts me.

Being away from Enid was torture and not the type to look forward to (based on stuff wednesday's said before). Wednesday will find Enid at all costs, has to, even if it breaks her mind in the process. Her best friend is a wolf, trapped in the cell of her own body and Wednesday will do anything to see the face of her beloved roommate again, even if it causes her own face to become twisted in pain.

Summary
When the school year at Nevermore is cut in half because of the Crackstone event, all the students are forced to return home. But soon after that occurs, both Enid and Wednesday begin to feel strange, unwell even, as they start to be haunted by eerie dreams. This inevitably forces Wednesday to travel to Enid in San Francisco so they can get to the bottom of this mystery unwinding in front of them. But all of this will reveal far more secrets than they ever thought possible.
