Summary
Buck doesn’t know what he’s going to say next. All he hears is the awful sound of splintering wood, a beam emancipating itself from above them. Without another thought, Buck lunges forward and pushes Eddie out of its path.
When Buck falls through the unstable give of the floor, he feels a bone chilling terror. But it’s okay, because Eddie was knocked away. The beam missed him.
Then, a terrible noise like thunder, a mammoth of sound, and Eddie is falling too. Why is Eddie falling too?
Buck takes a great big tumble. Like always, Eddie is right behind him.

Summary
And Eddie asked him. Asked him if he was sure, assured him that he wasn’t imposing or putting him out or whatever other frankly incredible things Buck’s brain might’ve been telling him. He double triple quadruple checked if Buck was sure he wanted to move into a glorified sardine can, to which Buck responded, beggars can’t be choosers, I’m not exactly swimming in it, Eddie! And yeah. Fair. But there was just. There was no reason for him to leave so quickly, that’s all.
Eddie hates this apartment.
Buck moves out. Eddie tries to cope.

Summary
“Come on, you’re telling me you wouldn’t consider sneaking into a storage closet with me?”
“Obviously, I would!” Eddie was whisper-yelling now, and Buck wasn’t sure exactly what point he was trying to make, but he was enjoying every second of this. “But one of us is going to have to have restraint and it has to be the—the one with the most experience.”
Buck felt his mouth drop open in delight. “Eddie,” he admonished. “Are you calling me a whore?”
“No!” said Eddie, looking increasingly flustered. “I just mean—clearly you have the power to do—” he gestured at Buck, “that, so you have the—the responsibility to, like, use it. Responsibly.”
“Did you just quote Spiderman?”
Eddie propped his elbows on the table and dropped his head into his hands, groaning dramatically. “I’m going to die. The first date, and I’m going to die.”
“Been there, wouldn’t recommend it.”

Summary
He can’t bring himself to say anything, even now. Even as Maddie turns big, wet brown eyes at him, begging him to do something. React.
“Eddie!” She yells, finally, and it–
God fucking help him but it sounds like Buck. The pitch and timbre are different– of course they are– but the tone. The way her voice curls around his name. It’s so close.
She’s the closest thing to Buck that’s still breathing on their own.
