David rolls his gummy tongue, tries to blink Peter, bruised and bloody and now frowning in the dim light into focus. It takes more effort that it should. It takes even more to summon the cooperation of both his brain and vocal cords to reply.

So, what is up if it isn’t that dipshit you go to school with?” Tony asks, fixing his kid with a glare and trying not to look too worried when Peter’s smirk faulters and he drops his head down to focus on the circuit board he’s been picking at for the last half an hour. Very little progress at fixing the wiring has been made over that time, and Tony doubts Peter has made much more with solving whatever is bothering him either.
“I never said it wasn’t Flash,” the slimy kid points out evasively in a clear attempt to derail the conversation.
“No, I suppose you didn’t.”
Tony sits there for a second, one eyebrow pointedly raised, and patiently waits for Pete to crack. It doesn’t take long.
He’s getting pretty good at this parenting a teenage vigilante thing, if he does say so himself.
