“They just announced the spring musical. They’re doing Beauty and the Beast.” He pouts.
“Are you still that hung up on Phillip?” Janis teases.
“Janis, don’t be mean! Damian’s sad,” Cady scolds, going full koala and trying to wrap her entire body around Damian’s torso. It doesn’t quite work due to their size difference, but she doesn’t let it stop her.

Cady’s also been thinking a lot about Janis, which scares her. Some of it is similar to how she felt about Aaron when they first met. She thinks about Janis’ gorgeous tawny eyes, how expressive and beautiful they are, how large and cute they are in her face. She thinks about her long, two-toned hair, about how soft it must be and wonders what it smells like (which is a little creepy, she notes). And god, Janis’ smile. When she genuinely smiles and her whole face lights up, that’s one of Cady’s favorite things by far.

Cady is going into her maps app as Janis buckles her seatbelt, tapping a few times to get directions to the first destination. Suddenly, the loud, robotic voice of Siri reverberates through the car, saying, “Starting route to You’re Kilning Me! Pottery House,” and making them both jump.
Janis starts practically cackling as Cady frantically tries to stop Siri ruining the surprise, yelling “SHUCK!” over the voice. “It was supposed to be a surprise,” she pouts once the phone finally goes quiet.

Cady can’t quite pick up most of their conversation, but she does hear Regina say, “Cady’s not going to find out, Janis,” and lean closer.
