“Why are you doing this?” he asked. Each word shook violently, choked with anger and confusion. “I thought you were on our side. Why are you going back to them?”

Chuuya pulled his phone away from his face at the sound of his own name, and looked at the screen. There were not many people who called him by that name, and even fewer who would have access to his personal number. “Yes? Who is this?”
The person on the other side seemed to hesitate for a moment as if bracing themselves. “It’s Tanizaki, from the Armed Detective Agency, and, well,” he said, “You’re listed on Dazai’s paperwork as his emergency contact and, ah… Would you be able to come?”

Summary
“Oi,” came the greeting when Chuuya walked through the door.
Leaning back into his stiff and starched hospital pillows, Dazai turned to Chuuya with a grin. “The slug came to visit me!” he cooed. He raised his arms to wave. “I’d strangle you if I had my hands free.”
Chuuya scowled at him. “You tried that last night and failed,” he said.

Chuuya raked his eyes up and down Dazai's body. “Why are you wet?”
Dazai began to peel his coat off. It clung to his body, clammy and cold. “Got in a scuffle with a guy who thought he was being subtle trying to get to the engine room,” he said cheerily. “He tried to drown me, but he didn’t do a very good job, you see?”
It had not seemed so bad, so why did Dazai's chest feel like it was being crushed under rocks?

So, when Dazai would not stop calling him, Chuuya picked it up with a scowl. “What do you want, bastard?”
Heavy breathing greeted him. “Chuuya,” a voice gasped, “there are dead people everywhere.”

Summary
There was something strangely novel about the days when the entire Agency ended up squished into Yosano’s infirmary in the aftermath of a mission. Tanizaki, Kenji and Atsushi were lined up like ducklings along one bed, Ranpo and Kyouka sat on another, Kunikida stood by the wall. And, they all got to watch as Yosano manually patched Dazai up.
“You’re not getting painkillers?” Atsushi asked.
“Nope.” Dazai tilted his head to the side slightly and looked at him. “Why would I?”
There was a beat of silence and then Atsushi’s eyes jolted towards him. His expression morphed to one somewhere between confusion and alarm. “Well… Doesn’t it hurt?” he said slowly.
