Astrid sighed. “Your real name preferably. I’m not just writing down sounds.”
He ran a hand down his face. He looked like he was trying to curse someone with his mind. Astrid rather wanted to curse whichever God oversaw customer service jobs. “Hiccup is my real name. Hiccup H. Haddock.”
“Ok…” That was certainly a name. Astrid crudely drew a fish onto the bottom of his cup. She was about to turn away, but curiosity was creeping into her mind like a fog. “What does the H stand for?”
“That is a secret I will be taking to my grave.”or - astrid just wants to have a normal job with bosses who aren't the twins, hiccup just wants coffee, they both get more than they're betting

Drago stared at him in silence for a long moment. Hiccup thought he heard him mutter "Stupid fucking one-legged dragon loving fool" which- rude. Hiccup isn't stupid. The rest of those things, sure, but he's pretty damn sure he isn't stupid.or - hiccup has had the longest day known to man and really isn't in the mood to now listen to some random guy rant to him about his global domination plans. he does something about it. it is not at all a good idea

So, like an absolute fucking idiot, like he was first day on the job levels of green, like he’d been struck down with eel pox, like he was a couple mugs too deep of yaknog, he hadn't come up with an answer to the possibility of his father, the leader of the council of Great Chiefs who presided over the Barbaric Archipelago, the man who had both named and raised him, asking him what his name was.
or - hiccup is sick of the council of chiefs doing absolutely fucking nothing about the hunters steadily encroaching upon the barbaric archipelago. luckily he's spent three years preparing to do something about it
