Summary
“I am not a ‘good’ person, hayatti.”
“You’re not?”
Talia had given him a wistful smile, running her hands gently, oh so gently, through his thick hair, tucking the stray strand behind his ear even if it was far too short to stay. She didn’t do it to fix his appearance, to alter it to standard, no, no she had an ulterior motive, a cruel idea of affection, of love. She wanted to love her son, how he needed. She wanted to love her son how she thought Bruce would love him, how his other children would love him, but she was Talia Al Ghul, and there was no such thing as affection in a household built on the blood of their own.
“No, ya albi, I am not.”

Summary
Cassandra steps back, eyebrows furrowed. “He does...care. Cares for all of us.” She looks hesitant, as if she doesn't believe it herself. “Just...bad at showing it.”
Understatement of the year.
He is a weapon, unlovable and dangerous. Cassandra was a weapon too, but she fought against it, hated her upbringing and became a hero. Damian is still a weapon, still stubborn, still angry and fighting and confused. Where Cassandra fights her upbringing, Damian sinks into his, letting instinct take over and blacking out, only to wake up covered in blood. “I am a weapon, Cain. An assassin, a killer. Surely you understand that.” Craning his neck up, he sees something flash in her eyes. “He has a code. Why would he care about me? He cares about people who try to do better, like you. I don’t, I can’t.”
She grips his shoulders harshly, her eyes still flashing. “Do not call me…that.” She takes a deep breath. “Not a Cain...not anymore, never again.”

Damian has a long needed discussion with Cassandra about change, anger and hurt.
