Under any circumstances, Johnny Joestar has always prioritized his survival. He is simply the kind of person he felt life has made him—having given up his own existence, all that remains is to cover his losses. Through forced materialism and a pernicious emptiness that remained inside him, he slowly drowned in his egoism.Surely what happened to him was an accident—strangely, given his personality, he never held any resentment. However, what this underscored for him was that his life had been nothing short of a complete failure—one that led him to the front lines of the newly-inaugurated Steel Ball Run race, pressing hot on the heels of another.
