The mental note was tucked into the back of his brain, Robot Etho’s thumb pressing against the corner of his lip. “I’m glad you’re working.” Impulse breathed out, finding it hard to swallow. The robot blinked, then blinked again, the sentiment clearly processing at a slower pace than Impulse wanted.
“I’m glad I’m working, as well.” Etho- Robot Etho said, his lips twitching into something softer. His eyes softened too, Impulse watching they way his pupils grow. “Are you doing some kind of check up?” Etho asked next. “Do you need to go through all my processes?”

“I need to get out of this town, Tango,” Bdubs sighs, “go live on a farm somewhere, build it all myself. Then I'd have nobody to answer to.” He tilts his head back and blows smoke at the ceiling.
Bdubs is wrapped up in a city wide turf war he never signed up for when he helped his friend Scar rise to power. Etho finds himself in the hands of the enemy after being abandoned by the people who made him. Between all the drama, they find each other. Maybe by the end of all this they'll find some damn peace too.
this fic is written as a qpr but can be easily read romantically I think!

The Engineer stepped into Etho’s cell, where he had pressed up against the wall on the cot. A cruel smirk curled against his face, “I wonder... where do deviants go when they die? Do you think there’s a digital heaven out there? Or is it just... pure oblivion for you machines?”
The android froze, he knew there was no escaping his fate. He had thought he could escape his fate when he ran away from his owners. But then he ended up in this place instead. It was as if the universe was punishing him from trying to divert his fate. Punishing him for daring to think. To be his own person. To be different than his android brethren.
He just wanted to live. Was that so much to ask for?
