Bdubs felt Etho’s breath against his nose and tried to act unfazed, pretending his heart didn’t just get caught in his throat.
“Tell me, what don’t I know?”
Etho felt exposed. He eyed the blade below his chin, and Bdubs beneath the knife. His own pulse was deafening in his ears, the blood in his head gone, rushing straight to his nether region. He felt his cheeks get warm, a buzzing throughout his face. It always felt strange, when Bdubs and him would play this little game. This wasn’t the first time, and it certainly wouldn’t be the last. He’s sorry to say, he likes being pinned to the wall with a weapon to his head. After all, a little blood never hurt anybody.
“How will you have me?” Etho dared.
“Naked. Belly-up. Like the fishy conspirator you are.” Bdubs was smiling ear to ear, his voice spewing with wholehearted lust. He whispered, words hitting with a faint, teasing air, “You are going to spill all your secrets to me, tell me every plan, every prank, that you thought too good for me.”
His words were stinging - this was Etho’s chance, to make everything right - so why did he feel like his guts were being torn? (subtle foreshadowing) -

Grian shifted again—another small movement, a thoughtless roll of his hips as he resettled. The bed creaked faintly beneath them, the sound sharp in the hush. Grian froze for half a second, then relaxed, deciding it was probably fine. If anything, it helped the illusion.
Scar, on the other hand, went very still.
His jaw tightened, eyes closing briefly as he took a slow breath, hands remaining firmly—but respectfully—at Grian’s sides. When he spoke again, his voice was even, almost too controlled. “Hey,” he said gently, breathlessly, “maybe— maybe don’t move like that.”
Grian blinked. “Oh—sorry.” He flushed, immediately trying to still himself, hands pressing into Scar’s shoulders for balance. “Did I—?”
Before Scar could answer—
BANG BANG BANG.

After Double Life, Etho wasn't the same person anymore. During the duration of the game, Joel proved himself to be an awful person due to the affects of going red, training Etho to be fearful of everything. But going home to his safe and comfortable partner didn't change how he thinks now.
Or: Etho is traumatized by Joel and I rewrote my one fic to give more details and everyone their happy ending instead of y'know what.

Bdubs' mind halts when a heavy weight barrels into him from the side. He didn't even hear the person coming, but now they're on top of him, straddling him, two blue eyes glowing in the darkness. Bdubs blinks in surprise. An android?
He doesn't have time to dwell on it before the android hits him with a brutal backhanded swing. He desperately tries to buck it off of him, legs scrabbling for purchase but sliding on the shards of glass under him.
The android sits back, and Bdubs surges up to follow it, but it slams a hand down heavily on his chest and he goes down hard enough to knock his head against the concrete and glass shards and make black spots dance in his vision. His hand grasps futilely at the android's wrist, nails ripping at its plastic skin.

Tango and Bdubs are caught in the crossfire of a turf war, trapped somwhere they no longer want to be. E-THO has lived his whole existence as a standard issue domestic service android when he suddenly wakes up with a consciousness.
