With the surface of their world a rain-ravaged wasteland, the benefactors needed a way to ship void fluid across the world. The solution: a single mobile iterator, large enough to be self-sustaining and durable enough to safely traverse the long abandoned oceans. But for all the technological genius of the benefactors, they always found it difficult to think of their iterators as anything more than tools.
Iterators were meant to provide for their citizens and solve their Great Problem, and never to question that purpose. But as that purpose disappears with the mass ascension, Blooming in Silence is left adrift, searching for a new purpose before she is washed away by the unstoppable force of nature itself.

Looks to the Moon was lonely. Her citizens, once plenty, were almost all gone. She was happy, she supposed, that they were all going beyond - that was the whole plan after all. Generations after generations, schematics and construction, practices and traditions, an effort to leave here. And when the innovation had reached its peak, when the pilgrimage was finished, when all was said and done - Moon was lonely.

It must bear this burden for we cannot.It will be known as, Eight Forlorn Weights.
This is a rewrite, and successor, of my fic named "Dear Storage Medium". It is being written with the same care and thoughts I had when I originally started DSM, before I lost drive and decided to crank the plot speed off the scales. This will be slow, this will be methodical.
And most importantly, this will be updated regularly!
