Even after they drove away all that Buck could hear was her voice calling his name. Her voice now, begging him to somehow save her from whatever cruel and worthy fate had for her. Her voice twenty five years ago, when Buck was just a kid and his brother had vanished into thin air.
Daniel Buckley had disappeared in the summer of 1993. Buck was barely a year old and he didn’t actually remember him much, but he remembered the stories Maddie had told him when he found the old lost posters, posters looking for a boy, just shy of twelve years old, dark blond hair and brown eyes, a birthmark on his shoulder, lean and tall. Buck had asked question after question, until his mother ran away in tears, and his father ran after her and it was up to Maddy to tell Buck all about their older brother.
He had been there one day, playing with them, soothing a fuzzy baby Buck, rocking him, making him laugh - Maddie said that no one ever made him laugh the same way Daniel had. Then the next day he had gone out to play with his friends a neighborhood over, and just never made it home.

Set in Season 3 when Buck comes back after the lawsuit, but before Eddie tells Buck about the fight ring. An evening of watching Christopher turns deadly with Buck and Chris are kidnapped by the head of the Italian Mafia, who is pissed that Eddie got his fighting ring shut down. Emilio had been looking to kill Christopher, but Buck makes him a deal. He will do whatever he wants, as long as he leaves Christopher alone. There wasn’t anything that Buck wouldn’t do to protect Christopher, even if that means he has to be Emilio’s personal sex slave and hitman. Buck knows he just needs to hold on until help comes. All of LAPD and LAFD would be looking for them. But so would his old Seal Team Commander Steve McGarrett and Buck knew there was nothing that Steve wouldn’t do to bring them both home. Buck just hoped that there would be something left of himself when that happened.

Slowly, gently, Buck raised Eddie’s knuckles to his chapped, sunburned lips. It was less a kiss and more a bump – Eddie’s skin against Buck’s.
Life ignited in Eddie’s glazed eyes.
Buck smiled, but then clenched his eyes shut tight. “Is it time?” he whispered. He peeked out of one eye and, trembling, made eye contact with Eddie. “Time for that talk we keep putting off?”
Eddie squeezed Buck’s hand. “We’re probably going to die here,” he whispered. “So, yeah… Good a time as any.”
Buck blushed. He licked his chapped lips. “Eddie… I need you to talk first. I’m… I’m too scared. Please,” Buck begged. “Please.”

Summary
Eddie swings into the back of the truck. Lena takes off like nobody’s business, driving faster than any of them are frankly comfortable, even as an emergency response team. Sirens blaring, Eddie follows his crew out of the truck to find they’re parked on the land side of a pier.
A truck from the 136 is already there, with two crew members on the edge of the pier, looking out over the water. Two others are in the water, pulling someone with them, who seems to be unconscious. Eddie shares a bewildered look with his crew, but runs after Lena. One of the 136 guys passes Bosko a phone, saying “It’s all cued up, Lena. This was a bad one. Usually he’s still fighting, but he must have been out there a while.”
Lena nods as the two lean in to help pull out the drowning victim.
Eddie, confused and annoyed as the rest of his team, starts to demand an explanation at the same time Chimney does, when Bobby stops them, his face transformed into utter devastation. “Buck?” he asks quietly.
Eddie stops, Hen and Chimney beside him, because he sees now what his captain saw.
The man the 136 is pulling from the water is Buck.
