It’s not normal for Fear to be awake this early in the morning. Really, it isn’t normal for any of the emotions to be awake at this hour, while Riley is still very much asleep. Something must have stirred him into consciousness, but he doesn’t know what, and there are no other noises, so he rolls over and pulls his blanket tighter over his face, wrapping his arms tighter around his stuffed bear.
But that’s when he hears it. A sniffle maybe? Something very muffled and quiet, hardly noticeable at all. He rolls over again and scans the bunk beds. Joy, Sadness, Anger, Disgust, Envy, Embarrassment, Ennui, all accounted for. All except Anxiety.
