Summary
Gerry and Jon met as kids, and they were the best of friends. Until Gerry's mother dies, Gerry disappears, and Jon never sees him again. Jon goes to college, then gets his job at the Magnus Institue and never gives Gerard Keay another thought. (Or so he says.)
Then everything happens, and Jon is tired. When a familiar face shows up, he almost can't believe it.

Summary
The first time Jon came to the aquarium (after he got over the panic attack he’d dropped into seeing the mermaid twist its way out of the dark water towards him), he’d asked the mermaid for his name. The second time he came (when he thought ahead enough to bring a sign language dictionary), the mermaid told him it was Gerry.
Which is a very strange name for a mermaid to have.

“Daddy, look!” Tim’s excited little voice rings out, making Martin’s head spin in the direction that his chubby little hand is indicating.
“That’s my friend over there, there!” Tim waves over a small girl with sweet brown ringlets and huge grey eyes. She waves back more demurely, clutched in the arms of her exhausted looking (but incredibly handsome) father.There exists a special bond between the parents of children who are best friends. Jon and Martin find a certain magic in the way that brings them together. (Their cute art teacher is a welcome addition also)
