In the relative comfort of her new life, Ellie sorts out her complicated past and reconsiders her cynical worldview. Meanwhile, Joel struggles with his own past and with his second chance at fatherhood. Tess sees fragments of her own life in Ellie's, and works to ensure that Ellie knows there is still light, somewhere in this world.
