“Patrick Jane?” Lisbon repeats, taking the file from Cho and frowning at the picture paperclipped to it. “Why do I know that name?”
“Relative of the last authentic Red John victims,” Cho replies. “You know, the psychic guy.”
Lisbon remembers now - a TV psychic who claimed to have a psychic reading of Red John. The serial killer had taken offense to that and killed his wife and daughter in retaliation. Patrick Jane himself had been left alive to suffer.
Lisbon studies his photo. His blond hair is slicked back professionally, and his blue eyes are piercing - this must be a publicity shot for his psychic business. He looks handsome but a little bit spooky, like he can look right through you.
“This doesn’t make any sense,” Lisbon says, flipping open the file to thumb through the forensic information quickly. “Why would someone whose family was killed by Red John use his methods to kill?”
